BPC 10.1 - no HANA support
Hi,
we've a BPC 10.1 sandbox and we're facing several problems
#1 no BPC HANA Support
we've changed the setting in the global and enviroment Parameters - see attachement
But when we try to open a an Excel sheet and do some calculations, we get the following dump - see attachement
I haven't found anything on the Internet. There are some enhencements but they don't work for 10.1 only for 10.0
any idea?
Thx
Yes
We used the "BPC_HANA_MIGRATE_FROM_10" as well

MDX Support for BPC on BW on HANA
Hi All,
I have the following queries on MDX support for BPC on BW on HANA -
1. What is the current state of Dimension Member formulas (or MDX) with BPC on HANA. Are they natively being evaluated within HANA?
2. Does BPC on HANA support the same MDX features and functionalities that BPC on any other database would ? Are there any limitations here ?
Please advise. Thanks.Saurabh Diwakar,
Does note 1714013 gives insight to any of your questions?

Does SAP HANA supports JCo to call BAPI RFC's and to receive IDocs?
Hi,
We are using a WSO2 ESB to integrate our SAP 4.7 version system with SalesForce.com and as part of this integration we use JCo libraries to receive IDoc's and to execute RFC's from ESB.
This year we are planning to migrate our SAP environment to SAP HANA and wondering if SAP HANA supports the JCo libraries? or is there any changes in the implementation how we use JCo libraries?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Will HANA support Bulkload like oracle has bulkload and vertica has copy command
Regards,
Manoj.Hello,
.. you can make IMPORT FROM '/<path>/<filename>.ctl' faster by adding WITH THREADS <thread_num> at the end
Yes - I know - there are more options like BATCH - all described in SAP HANA SQL Reference Guide - page 119:
https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000604922011
.. but in my understanding it is still INSERT-based command. The bulk loader utilities usually bypass SQL layer as a performance bottle-neck and insert data directly into the data pages or at least directly into table partitions, or using some similar performance-improvement techniques
Aha... you mean Direct Path Load functionality in Oracle:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci13obn.htm
I am not sure how exactly IMPORT FROM command is coded but following syntax seems to be interesting (also explained in SAP HANA SQL Reference Guide - page 119):
WITH TABLE LOCK
Locks table for fast import into column store tables. If WITHOUT TYPE CHECK option
is specified, then the record is inserted without checking the type of each field.
Probably not as fast as streamed load into data segment but probably best HANA can offer...
Would be interesting to ask SAP for details how exactly this is implemented.

Will BW on HANA support Control-M?
Hi,
We are planning to upgrade from BW 7.0 to BW 7.4 on HANA. Currently we are triggering process chains using BMC Control-M.
1. Will it have any impact on Control-M scheduling when we upgrade the system?
2. Which is the Least supported version of Control-M for BW 7.4 on HANA?
Please suggest.
-SriramHi Sriram,
I hope you will not face any issue,But also need to confirmabout the what release of BMC Control-M you are using.
You can check release not for particular version.

BO 4.0 on HANA Supported Functionality
I have BO 4.0 SP5 connected to Native HANA.
In a reporting functionality point of view, I would like to understand the supported functionality and limitations of connecting BO to Native HANA as compared to BO to BW. e.g. Advantages / Disadvantages for Reporting Directly on HANA vs BW.
I am interested comparisons like
- Hierarchies
- Security (Data Authorization)
- Currency Conversion (BEx)
- Scaling FactorNot sure this gets into those details but this is a start: What is new with BI4.1 with SAP HANA – ASUG Webcast

Will HANA supports in build planning function
the documents says
SAP HANA Database u2013 Development Guide
u2013 How to use SQL and SQLScript for Data Modeling
SAP HANA Appliance Software Page 17 of 83
"The SAP HANA database also contains a component called the planning engine that allows financial
planning applications to execute basic planning operations in the database layer. One such basic
operation is to create a new version of a dataset _ as a copy of an existing one while applying_ filters
and transformations. For example: Planning data for a new year is created as a copy of the data from
the previous year."
is it similar functionality of IP or give some pointer on this ?
Regards,
Manoj.Hello Manoj,
Yes, this is refering to BW-IP functionality (which we also plan to use for other planning solution). See release notes here:

Reporting off BPC Cube in HANA using BOBJ Tools
Hi,
I have a customer who is on BPC NW on HANA. Customer has BPC cube exposed in HANA, We need to do some reporting on that BPC HANA views with the ability to drill down to the hierarchies. Is there a BOBJ tool which would allow the cutomer to:
1) Drill down on the G/L level
2) Mobile compatible
3) Have access to BPC built in logic/metadata
Thanks,
MikeHi Mike,
I found the following presentation,

SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.3 HANA-only deployment
Support HANA-only deployment
Design Studio applications saved in HANA Repository
Design Studio runtime is moved to browser, No Java stack as deployment platform is needed
Using firefly instead of BICs at Design Studio runtime
Require HANA 1.0 revision SPS8 (revision 80)
I think there are some limitations like hierarchies not supported, please check.

Will HANA node supports cluster (Initiator node and Eexecutor node)
Hi Gurus,
In vertica DB supports below cluster concepts, Will HANA supports
Initiator node and Eexecutor node
1. client submits query to vertica cluster the node to which the client is connected is called the initiator node
2. Initiator node analyses query and distributes query plan to executor nodes
3. Executor nodes run query on local data set and return partial result to initator node
Regards,
Manoj.Hello,
as Vitaliy wrote - you will not find exactly identical equivalent in HANA database but also HANA database can offer similar functions.
In case you want to spread workload across several machines you should check:
SAP HANA Database Server Installation Guide (page 13 - 5.2 Distributed System; page 35 - Adding a Host to the System):
https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000604572011
Note: Master nameserver can logcally failover to other node. This can be seen as high availability.
In case you are interested in high availability on instance level - you might want to look as well at following guide:
SAP HANA Database Scaleout with Standby Host:

Dear Experts,
I have some problems with the creation of dummy members in time dimension.
For examples I have created this member:
2012.TOT
2012 Total Year
013
MONTH
13
TOTAL
2012
Bpc permit to save data on this item, but in the Excel report I can't see it.
The data are in the Bw cube.
I work with SAP BPC NW powered by HANA 10.0 SP13
Any idea?
Thanks in advance
ValeHave you tested with 3 level dummy members? Please read also this discussion:

Writing data from BW-IP into BW to be reported instantly in BPC 7.5 NW
Dear all,
we are currently designing an integrated BPC 7.5 NW / SAP BW planning environment. Due to various restrictions part of the plan data is supposed to be collected via SAP BW-IP. This is a must have-requirement.
At the point of time when the data is entered via SAP BW-IP we want to be able to report those numbers out of SAP BPC.
For my understanding with BPC 7.5 NW the "BPC world" will have/require specific cubes in the BW system below, which is the same for the BW-IP environment.
Therefore our first guess for this issue would be, that once an user enters data via BW-IP a BW-IP planning functionality writes those data into both cubes (BW-IP cube and BPC cube). We have seen this in a shared SEM BPS / BCS environment earlier, where SEM BPS wrote / copied data directly into the BCS cube. Therefore our expectation is, that the same might be possible for a shared BPC / BW environment.
Is this a feasible scenario from your point of view or are you aware of any other "best practise" on an issue like this?
Any thoughts shared would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
ChristianChristian,
No, using IP aggregation levels to write into a cube in the BPC namespace is not a supported scenario. The rule of thumb is that no customer development is supported against objects in the BPC namespaces. It is technically possible to do this (in your example, putting an aggregation level on top of a BPC cube), but it is highly un-advisable as the BPC cube can be deleted and recreated without warning and it is not guaranteed to have the same technical name in all environments, so you may not be able to transport aggregation levels.
So what do you do? I think you are either going to need to move all your data input into BPC (I know you say this is not acceptable, but it is something to keep in mind), give up on the requirement for instant reporting in BPC on the BW-IP input data and push data to BPC periodically, or face a very complex custom development task against unpublished APIs (i.e. if you mess up your BPC installation you'll probably be on your own).
Without more detail about the problem you are trying to solve, it is hard to recommend which is the best solution, but in general I'd recommend staying away from the custom development option.

I am getting error while creating Control file for a fla file upoad in HANA
Hi Experts,
I am getting the following error when I try to create crtrol file for a flat file extraction in SAP HANA.
Could not execute 'import data into table P935718."COPATBL" from 'COPATBL.csv' record delimited by '\n' fields ...'
SAP DBTech JDBC: [257] (at 14): sql syntax error: incorrect syntax near "into": line 2 col 1 (at pos 14)
Here is the code I have used to create control file after I creating the table.
import data
into table P935718."COPATBL"
from 'COPATBL.csv'
record delimited by '\n'
fields delimited by ','
optionally enclosed by '"'
error log 'P935718.COPATBL.err'
p935718 is my user ID, COPATBL is my table created, COPABL.CSV is a flat file.
Please help me in this regard.
Thanks,
GunaHello,
guessing from the error message it looks that you are trying to execute "import data" as SQL command.
Please note that import data is NOT SQL command but it is syntax for control file. You need to create file with this syntax on server and then use command: IMPORT FROM '/<path>/<filename>.ctl'
In a shortcut:
1.- create comma separated CSV file with your data - <source cvs>.csv
2.- upload CVS file to HANA server
3.- create the control file <filename>.ctl:
import data
into table <schema>."<table name>"
from '<source cvs>.csv'
record delimited by '
fields delimited by ','
optionally enclosed by '"'
error log '<file name>.err'
4.- execute command:
IMPORT FROM '/<path>/<filename>.ctl'
Please check following threads:

Hello Experts,
I have a requirement to migrate the BPC 7.5MS version scripts to BPC 10 NW Script.
When I try to copy the existing working BPC 7.5 MS script to NW Script, I get validation error as BPC 10 script doesn't understand few lines.
Below are the lines which are getting errors.Could you please help in giving me the equivalent BPC 10 NW commands for below lines
1)*MEMBERSET (%ACT%,"Descendants([ACCOUNT].[H1].[PNC_GPW],999,leaves)")
2)*Calculate_Difference = 0
3) Will BPC 10 accept time=next(11) command? It is not giving any validation error
I am also attaching the existing BPC 7.5MS script in this thread as below.
Thanks,
SenoyHi Senoy,
It's practically impossible to "migrate" MS scripts to NW - so many differences, each script have to be rewritten with understanding of business logic (not just script translation).
1)*MEMBERSET (%ACT%,"Descendants([ACCOUNT].[H1].[PNC_GPW],999,leaves)")
Something like:
*XDIM_MEMBERSET ACCOUNT AS %ACT%=BAS(PNC_GPW)
2)*Calculate_Difference = 0
Not supported, always full value is send but delta is written
3) Will BPC 10 accept time=next(11) command? It is not giving any validation error
next is not supported, TMVL(11,%TIME_SET%) can be used in some cases.
And please, read the standard help for script logic in BPC NW 10. All supported keywords are mentioned here:
Logic Keyword Reference
