BPEL and Oracle financials Integration

Hi there,
we're at the beginning of scoping an integration project and I'm trying to get a handle on what options we have for integration with Oracle Financials. I've been referred to the BPEL Process Mgr - does anyone know of its abilities to integrate with Financials ? Does it use a JCA ? What other integration options do I have ? All help appreciated...
TIA,
aidan

The Oracle Applications adapter is installed as part of the base install, allthough licensed seperately. Adapters to other packaged applications (SAP, Peoplesoft etc) are seperate installs (and also licensed seperately).
The Oracle apps (Ebusiness Suite) adapter uses the common interface points of the applications to interface with them, and expose them in a friendly format, allowing you to browse the available modules and functions and select which ones you want to use in your BPEL process.

  • Retek and Oracle Financials Integration

    Hi,
We are planning to implement Retek for the retail stores and Oracle Financials for the back end operations. Can some one tell me if these two products are seamlessly integrated? For example will the data flow from Retek to say AP or AR without having to develop any interfaces.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is Oracle Apps and Oracle Financials and Oracle 11i.

    Hi All,
right now I am working on Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures (Version 8) wants to learn/shift to Oracle Apps. Dont know actually what is what and what are the Differences between Oracle Apps and Oracle Financials and Oracle 11i
Can any one brief me about those.
    Thanks in Advance

What exactly are you intending to do to Oracle Apps ? You suggest you are a developer, but Oracle Apps are already developed, by Oracle. Do you want to develop peripheral applications, or become an administrator, or what ?

  • BPEL and Oracle 8

Are other people out there using BPEL with Oracle 8?
BPEL seems to only barely support Oracle 8 (Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.2.0) e.g.
with oracle 8, BPEL requires a database procedure to be owned by schema owner before it can be used in BPEL ... I don't think this is the case with BPEL and oracle 9
with orace 8, the retry ability as per bpel.xml can have some retry schedule extra retry due to socket read error .. (works eventually)
with oracle 8, you have to manually alter toplink setting to pick up date and time rather than just date ... this is not the case with BPEL and oracle 9
i.e. you can make BPEL work with Oracle 8 but it takes some doing!!

Can you use WebLogic 8.1 SP4 ? BPEL has been certified with that version. We have been able to reproduce the issue and currently investigating the cause of it.

    2. Accounting events that happen in this modules and how your expecting data for the same.
3.Retail stock ledger and sales audit modules interfaces data directly to General Ledger module.i would like to know the kind of data it interfaces, frequency and level of Detail.
4.At the time of interfacing the data to Oracle Financials, will there be any validations happening and how do you handle errors.
5.In the Retail invoice matching module,if i am not wrong only sucessfully matched invoices will be interfaced to staging tables. When i import those invoice information, will invoice get created in AP automatically or do we need to manually punch in the data.
5.How do you handle Returns to suppliers.
6.At what level PO/Invoices will be raised,is at DC or store level.
7.How is accounting done for the below scenarios

    D. When you do Returns
    E. Rebates or Discounts
I would be very thankfull if you can provide the required details.
    Thanks,
    Sushanth

    Hi Sushanth,
See the merchandise integration guide and the operation guide of RMS (pretty good for a starter, though not more than a glimpse.)
Usually a specialized consulting firm will have the people with the experience and knowledge of these areas at hand to assist you.
I think if you really want to have these questions answered, you must hire a specialist consultant - I don't expect the forum to fill in those gaps for you, but who knows.
Also the CRP of an implementation project will deal with some of your questions, the CRP being lead by a subject matter expert (SME).
    Best regards,
    Erik

  • Differences between Hyperion consolidation and Oracle Financials Consolidat

I'm looking for a document- recommendations etc. explaining why using Hyperion Consolidations versus Oracle Financials Consolidation ?
    Thanks
    Marcel

    Genie,
I agree that a case is made on how well these two ERPs solve the day to day tasks before a company chooses one of these two. But my question is aimed at finance to begin with. You are going to need a general ledger for any company or government regardless of ERP. And how well you can drive the ledger to map your business is the key here.
The way ledger is built is around a business area ,company or country and is very tighly designed in SAP. I would like to know if there is any equivalent of the configuration items in ORACLE. I am more interested in terminology of ORACLE.
    For example ,
    <u><b><u><b>SAP ====> ORACLE</b></u>
    <u><b>GL ==> Book In ORACLE</b></u>
    <b><u>Document Number ===> Invoice Number</u></b>
<b><u>Posting Period in SAP ==> Posting period In ORACLE</b></u></u></b>
Most of the terms are finance terms , so they are common ( eg. an account number is an account number in ORACLE and SAP ) between two systems. I am interested in any specific thing that is available in ORACLE but not in SAP and  vice verse.
thanks for the link you have provided.
    Its very useful.

  • Discoverer 10g and Oracle Financials

I am a newbie. Does Discoverer run against Oracle Financials - Project Accounting in particular?
    Thanks,
    Cherie Machler

    Hi,
Yes, Discoverer can run against Oracle Financials. You need to create a Discoverer EUL (End User Layer) that maps to the underlying Oracle financials tables and views and gives a business interpretation of the data in Oracle Financials. You can either use the EUL that is shipped with Oracle Financials Intelligence, create your own or do a bit of both.

  • IE8 and ORACLE Financials...

Well as I understand it from our Customer Support team IE8 is now available from MIcrosoft Update site and may well become part of the Automatic Update pack very very soon. As an ORACLE Financials Support Analyst, I am receiving an increasing number of calls from users not being able to login because of either their: Browser versions, Java Versions, J-Initiator and/or Profiles. Add to this another version of I-Explorer and bedlam.
I just wondered if anybody else has concerns opn this and if so what they're thoughts are..
    cheers, Steven

  • BPEL and Oracle Portal

    Hello.
At the moment i try to find a beginning how to display Values from Oracle BPEL Process Manager to Oracle Portal. I would like to use Portlet Specification JSR-168, if it is possible.
For a better understanding: here is a detailed description of the task i try to do:
I have a BPEL Process which uses values via WebService. These values will be modified in the BPEL Process. After the values are modified, they should be displayed in Oracle Portal.
I have installed an Infrastructure, Middle Tier (Portal&Wireless) and Oracle BPEL PM for Middle Tier on a Virtual Machine. At my local PC I installed BPEL PM for Developers to develop BPEL Processes.
I don't find a beginning to display the Values in Oracle Portal... ;)
Can anyone help me or give me a hint to find a beginning?
P.S.: If you don't have an idea about my problem but you
know a guy who might be know sth about it, please
contact me. Althoug if my question is not clear
enough, please contact me, because it is very
    important for me.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Hyperion and Oracle Financials

    Hello,
Can Hyperion report directly from Oracle Financials or is a datawarehouse required?
Are there any resources that anyone could recommend regarding the set up?
    Many thanks

What Hyperion tool are you referring to?
I have used IR- Interactive Reporting to report off Oracle Financials. It is not pretty but it is possible.

  • Integration BPEL and Oracle Applications

    Hi,
We are using Oracle Applications 11i
Is there any documentation that exploring the Integration Oracle Application using BPEL Technology? or any customer experience using BPEL for their Oracle Application?
    Need advice
    Thanks

There's an Oracle Applications adapter which assists in browsing the interfaces to Oracle Apps 11i.x. You can find more info on adapters at the OTN page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/adapters/index.html, and there you will find a data sheet on the Oracle Apps adapter (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/adapters/pdf/DS_OracleASAdapter_EBS.pdf)

  • WMS and Oracle ERP integration.

    All,
We are working on an integration project where in we are using Oracle Apps as the ERP System. With this Oracle ERP, we want to integrate any WMS/SCM system [red prairie, manhattan, oracle etc].
Are there any open APIs/Interfaces to Oracle Apps, where in, we can call these from our code [may be Oracle stored procs or .NET] and all the required data are populated in the ERP system, which can then be used for further processing..
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shridhar.

Does Oracle's WMS module not meet your needs? It would already be integrated.
As for APIs there is a manual that outlines all the available APIs for manufacturing. Look at the Discrete Manufacturing section to locate it.
