Just make sure you have used the template for synchronous BPEL Process and followed the "Hello World tutorial for changing the BPEL Process parameters.

run-time data is valid.This error happen when you try to assgin some empty element to your your target variable. Try using transformation if your input has empty elements.
I need to do fault handling. can any one help me how to do fault handling for this case. Just add a catch all block and in the catch all block message flow add the required action that needed to be performed in case of fault.

BPEL Variable Assign Problem

I had developed a Web Services with 2 methods:
1, return XML data in string datatype
2. return XML data in Element
Both are work fine in normal web services invocation. However, when I try to invoke them in BPEL, I got trouble on them.
For Method 1, I can succeed to call the web services and got the data back, but when I try to assign the XML to other variable (use the result xml xsd to create). It only assigned the whole XML data into the first element of XML such that I cannot further process the data by transformation.
For Method 2, the BPEL enginee failure on compile the project as the enginee reported cannot regonize the "xsd:any" datatype in the invoking web services.
any guys have idea about it? Thanks

RAC node outage causes SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 BPEL failure

Using weblogic 9.2 and the SOA Suite 10.1.3.4. We use a 10g Oracle RAC ( 2 nodes ); the WL cluster has a multi data source of 2 pools, each pool pointing to a single node in the rac, each pool deployed to the cluster, and the multi data source in load-balancing mode.
So the other night, one of the db nodes had a hardware failure ( ironically, with a remote monitoring / management card ). Annoying, but it should not have caused the BPEL servers to be in "FAILED NOT RESTARTABLE" status the next morning.

Both managed instances of the BPEL cluster failed, even though the 1st node of the Oracle RAC was still available.
Our 10.3 cluster, also using multi data sources to the same RAC for the OSB components, simply went on about its business using the remaining rac node pool.
Seems to be a single point of failure...

We haven't changed the JDBC connection string yet, but we did run a test in the same environment while Oracle support considers the situation.
For the test, we simply shutdown one node of the RAC and watched to see what happens. Within the space of a minute, the JDBC "Failed Reserve Request Count" was increasing by thousands on every refresh of the screen. We restarted the RAC node after 5 minutes, by which time the "Failed Reserve Request Count" was over 190,000
The 2 BPEL managed servers remained in Running status and each created a 660 MB log file within that 5 minutes. In the original outage, the nodes were down for about 15 minutes. Most of the logging is being generated from within the oracle.tip.esb classes, not by the weblogic classes. It looks like that once the pool pointing to the downed RAC node becomes disabled, the Oracle BPEL code is still trying to use it even though the multi-source JNDI is the published lookup:

Email Failure Tracking in BPEL 11g

Hi All,
I am working on BPEL 11g where i am sending a email to some address.and its all working fine.Now my problem is i am unable to track the failure of emails when i send the email to wrong email id.
My requirement is whenever i send an email to a wrong email id the email must bounce back to the same sender with the same subject line.I am unable to find any help so plz help me out if any one has faced or worked on this issue.Its very urgent requirement.

Hi:
I just made a quick test, and there is not reply to the sender, if the receiver mailbox was wrong.
The only way to know if there was an error, is at the log file, or at the EM level, monitoring the Emails Server/Driver.
I know that those are not options for u, but at least I am not seeing any way to capture that error.

Tracking email failure in BPEL 11g

Hi All,
I am working with email activity in Oracle BPEL 11g and its working fine.But i want to handle the failure of emails. Like whenever i send an email to a wrong email-id then it must bounce back to the From email-id with same subject line as specified prefixing with "Undelivered" word. Please help me if anyone has worked on the same issues.

11g BPEL:failure during dehydration when having transformation with 2 input

I'm working on 11g SOA
Has anyone ever seen this problem?. Not every but lots of BPEL process; if I have transformation box that takes in 2 inputs. When I kick off the process, I won't be able to track it in the console, and I found this message printed out on the server unix console.

This element was not a root element and the scope had reference to this element. The scope should have references only to the root element.
I'm not quite understand what does the bold line mean.

BPEL Assign Activity XPath failure

My BPEL process fails during the Assign activity and it is failing because the Query expression does not find the 'from' element. Which makes sense because for one my test cases I am not including a value for that element in the XML instance. My question - How do I handle this situation such that when the 'from' element is either missing or has no value then nothing gets assigned to the target variable?

Use a switch, e.g. if string-lenght(/ns2:CRMODAccounts/ns2:CRMODContactID) > 0
or you can do a transform and put an if condition for the mapping using the same code.

How do find out failure in invoking a partner service from BPEL

Helllo,
When running my SOA composite I encountered the following error. I haven't found out how to find out what exact host:port it is trying to hit and failed. Does anyone know how to find out this info or from which deployment/admin interface can I find out information related to the partner service, such as wsdl, host/port, and other parameters?

Your SOA project should have a somethingRef.wsdl where you can find the location of your WSDL.

You are right, theer are some changes incorporated in the latest MLR # 16 on the configurations files and on the dehydration store metrics(such as performance, fields,..).
However, I would not suggest to continue working on olite, even for Development/Test purposes as you might get stuck with strange errors...and the only solution would be to re-install SOA Suite if your olite gets corrupted. There might be ways to gets your olite back to position, but trust me..its not so simple.
Also, when you develop and stress test all your testcase scenarios in an TEST Adv installation, its simple to mimic the same in actual production box, as you exactly know its behavior.
So, go for a brand new SOA 10.1.3.4 MLR # 5 (or) 10.1.3.3.1 MLR # 16 SOA Suite Advanced installation with Oracle DB 10.2.0.3 as its dehydration store.

Randomly a selection failure exception ocurr for reading payload request in BPEL instance execution for up & running two nodes BPEL PM cluster

Oracle SOA Suite 10gR3 10.1.3 release, 10.1.3.4.0 (FixPatch)
DATABASE VERSION:
10gR2 10.2.0.4 (FixPatch), using RAC database as dehydration store.
Preparation for production.
INSTANCE NAME(S) AND TYPE OF SYSTEM(S):
BPEL PM cluster Active-Active on J2EE and Web Server cluster OC4J_SOA (OAS)
Using same "staticports.ini" values during instalatin process
Using same IP & Port for multicast in OAS & BPEL PM (jgroups-protocol.xml and opmn.xml - "*225.4.5.6:5000"
Planning for a harware load balancer front-end for BPEL PM cluster nodes
Now for test purpose the collaxa-config.xml with follow values, because not present any balancer for now:

When Up & Running two BPEL PM Instances in cluster active-active topology, then:
Initiating a test instance through BPEL console (10.1.3.4.0) by passing certain parameters fill text area with the
HTML representation (HTML Form) works fine all time or when no use xpath expression for read request variable.
ISSUE 1:

Issue 2: Another today up & running cluster, test any BPEL Service, throws their endpoint url in web browser, i view change fields correspondig
to before test end point, so view mixe parameters betwen bpel services. the execution fail because xpath retry read another payload that
not exist in current bpel.
It may a bug BPEL Console UI, OHS ? or i need place set value configurations ??, Please help.

Java Embedding bug in SOA Suite 11g BPEL??

I am beginning to wonder if there is a 'bug' in the SOA Suite 11g, BPEL, Java Embedding activity? Need some help as soon as possible – does the Java Embedding activity work in SOA Suite 11g?
Have tried the following on Jdev 11.1.1.1 and Jdev 11.1.1.3 – get the same error message (see below for error message).

I created a simple composite app by:
1.     Created a Composite with BPEL Process
2.     Created a BPEL variable by the name of Variable and a Simple Type of string      ({http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema}string)
3.     Added an Assign activity (Assign_1) and assigned the value of “Test Var” to the variable Variable using a Copy operation.
4.     Then, after the assign activity, added a Java Embedding activity (Java_Embedding_1) with Java Version set to 1.5 and the following code:

Java Embedding bug in SOA Suite 11g BPEL??

How to encrypt file on linux using Gnupg command in Java Embedding in BPEL.

Hi All,
I am trying to invoke a command script using the java embedding in BPEL Process.I am using the below code to execute the particular command to encrypt the file :-

Process pr = rt.exec(new String[] {"/bin/bash", "-c", "/u01/GnuPG/bin/gpg", "-e", "-r", "Developer","/u01/oracle/ConfigFiles/Adapter_controlDir/abc.csv"});

        addAuditTrailEntry("result = "+result);
        setVariableData("outputVariable","payload","/client:processResponse/client:result",result);

The above statement does nothing. I am not sure what command i need to use to access to the command line.
When i try this particular statement from linux machine command prompt :- /u01/GnuPG/bin/gpg -e -r Developer /u01/oracle/ConfigFiles/Adapter_controlDir/abc.csv
It works absolutely fine and it creates the encrypted files also.
Please suggest , which command i need to use from the java embedding.

I think, you can try, writing these commands into a separate shell script and call that shell script from bpel via Java embedding. However, you might not get a return response.. but you can still give a shot.
