BPS Layout - Combinations on transaction data issue

<p>
I've got a planning level with some characteristics (10) and one key figure (0QUANTITY). All the characteristics are restricted for one value in the level, except one, which is restricted by an exit variable for one or more values (depending from other parameters). Letu2019s call this characteristic 0MATERIAL.
On this level Iu2019ve got two planning layouts: both have Material on the lead column and quantity on the data column (with all the other chars in the header): layout 1 displays all the possible combinations, while layout 2 displays only combinations from transaction data.
This way I let the user select the material with layout 1 (writing on the quantity column), and with layout 2 I show him his selection (only the materials with quantity other than 0).
</p>
<p>
Everything is working fine when Material is restricted for more than 1 value:  I can see the material number on layout 2 only if I set a quantity on layout 1.</p>
<p>When material is restricted for only one value in my level (with my exit variable), both layout 1 & 2 show one record (with the material number and a u20180u2019 quantity); in deed Iu2019m expecting layout 2 (which shows only combinations from transaction data) to be empty.</p>
<p>
It seems like the system is adding a dummy record in my layout: it happens even if I delete all the data in my infocube.
Does anyone know how to fix this and display layout 2 with no records?</p>

Hello Marc,
I'm sorry but it's not that easy
There's no data in my cube (I deleted all the data requests in RSA1), there's no data in my planning buffer.
If I change the selection in my level, adding another material (with the characteristic restricted for two values), everything works fine:
-layout 1 shows 2 rows (with quantity = 0);
-layout 2 shows 0 row (there's no data, layout is blank).
If in my level I restrict the material for only 1 value, it will result in both layouts showing 1 row, with 0 quantity.
I tried to reproduce the issue, building a dummy level with some chars and a key figure. Every char is restricted for only one value, except one char (on the lead column in the layout) which is restricted for two or more values: everything works fine.
But if I restrict the lead char for 1 only value, the layout supposed to show the transactional data shows me a dummy record (it's not blank).

  • BPS Layout and Varibales on Data slices

    Hi Frineds,
I have some doubts in BPS. Please clarrify me with the exact answers.
    1) What is the optimum time for excuteing Manual planning layout?
    2) Can we create Varaibles on Data slice in both BW BPS 3.5 version and SEM BPS? In which versiona we can create varaibles on data slices? I nwhich version it is not possible to create varaibles on Data slices?
    3) One basic question: Does planning package contain keyfigures or it contains only Charactgerstics?
    4) what is meaning of Selection Varibles in BPS?  I read one document like we can create Selection Variables in Accound based modeling but it is not possible to create Selection Varaibles in Key figure based modeling/
I gone thorouth the help documentaion and other documents but i didn't get clear idea on above issues.
Please provide me ur suggestions and valuable answers for above questions.

  • BPS Layout / planning level / characteristic relationship issue

    Hi ,
    I have a design question.
I have a characteristic relationship for 0CALMONTH(Cal. Year/Month) The below are derived attributes
    Calendar month
    Quarter
    Cal. Year/Quarter
    Calendar year
    Fiscal year/period
    Posting period
I am not using 0CALMONTH in my level/layout.
Question1 : When I save the layout by changing the key figure, the system creates another record with what ever the changes perfectly but it is not copying all the characteristics that were in the original line. One example of this issue is for characteristic relationship object.
Question2 : I do have the problem with other characteristics that NOT in the level since I am not using it but when I make a change for key figure in the layout and save it , it is not copying to the new line with all the characteristics.
Can I design this way? If yes why the values are not copied over to the new line? Any user exits where I can check / debug during the layout save?
I do not have any problem when I use standard BPS copy function, have these problems during the layout save.
Thank you for looking into it , appreciate any inputs......
    Raju

Thank you Mayank. Very helpful/excellent.  I think I am very clear/ all set , I will solve some of them by using derived charaterstic relationships.
One  more important questions :  How can We provide a solution where We can not use a particular characterstics at level because of the agrregation behavior of the layout and can not be derived ? but while We save the layout We need to get those characterstics like copy function does copy all the characterstics even if they are not in the level.
Is this make sense ? may not be valid question ?  any thoughts ?
    Appreciate your help.

  • Loading data from excel to BPS layout

    Hi,
I have BPS layouts in place and also excel sheets which are exact replica of those layouts.
I know 2 options to load excel data into the BPS. These are:
    1) Copy and paste the data from excel to BPS layout.
    2) Create a flat file in line format from excel and then use method explained in document "How to Load a Flat File into BW-BPS Using SAPGUI.pdf".
Is there any other way I can upload the same?
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Pankaj

Thanks to Vlad, Laurent & Srini for prompt replies.
But here the user needs to load data directly to the transactional cube.
So it is a case of "instead of keying in values" on to the BPS planning layout, user wants to upload the data from excel into the BPS layout.
Planning is done on SAP GUI and not web browser.
I am able to do the same using the document "How to Load a Flat File into BW-BPS Using SAPGUI".
But in this case the data needs to be converted into a simple csv file in line item format before it can be uploaded.
Is there any way, where we can upload from excel file without having it to change to csv format as required in "How to Load a Flat File into BW-BPS Using SAPGUI"?
    thanks in advance.

    Pankaj

  • Issue with CIF Integration model for Transaction data

    Hi Gurus,
I have activated the Integration model for PO & PReqs by location wise and i assumed that transaction data is online and we need not to re activate for any new Product / location combination got created in system.
But the issue is that every time a new material got created, we need to deactivate and activate the integration model for Transaction data to get the transaction data into APO.
Is there any way to avoid the following exercise as it is taking very long time for activation.
Please guide me as it is very urgent.
    Thanks for help in advance...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagadeesh

I assume 1,60,000 location products are spread around different locations.
Rather than one Integration Model it is better to have multiple Integration Models.
For example: one for each region like North America, one for Europe, one for Asia (assuming you have countries spread across the world). Or create Intgeration Model by Country.
This way you reduce the number of Products in an Integration Model.
It is very important to have manageable set of Integration Models. Let me give an example - you have some problem hence the single Material Master Integration Model is down (inactive). At that time any PP or PDS transfer will not have the Header or COmponent products transferred to APO (in effect PDS/PPM cannot be transferred). If you are creating or converting Planned Orders they will not transfer to R/3 (as Header product is not part of active intgeration model).
But if you have country spefic or region specific Integration Model - only that country is affected not all.
In fact you should have other integration model (like PDS/PPM, Procurement Relationships, Planned / Production Orders, Sales Orders, Stocks) in same manner i.e. either Country(s) specific or group of countries by region. The risk of models getting inactive or taking too much time to activate after regeneration easily outweighs management of more number of Integration Models (compared to one Global integration model per object).
Hope this gives you some direction.

  • Date convertion function in BPS layout

    Hi,
At the user's request, I have created a key figure with date type "date". The purpose of this is to allowed the user can input the date for each of the material displayed at the BPS layout.
when I use the listcube to display the date key figure, I notice that it is not display as the regular date instead it has benn converted to a number for example 01/12/2005 is dispaly as 731,959. when I delete the date from the layout and save it,now the cube has add a 731,959- record. this is comply with how the infocube deal with ket figure data.
There should be an function which convert the date 01/10/2005 to 731.595 in the BPS back end, anybody know the function name.
    Thanks,

    Hi JW,
If you simply want to generate a new date from an existing one, there are several options using only FOX. But again, maybe you want to look at the original intention of the application and your data modelling options before researching into this specific issue.

  • How to get XLR to show BPs with no transaction data for a given date range

    Hi -
I am building an XLR report that does a comparison of net sales data across two periods for a given sales employee's BPs.
The report has the row expansion:
    FACT BPA(*) SLP(SlpName = "ASalesPersonNameHere") ARDT(Code = "ARCreditMemo", "Invoice") Group by BPA.CardName
    and column expansions:
    FIG(SO_TaxDate = @StartDate:@EndDate)
    and
    FIG(SO_TaxDate = @StartDate2:@EndDate2)
where @StartDate, @EndDate, @StartDate2, @EndDate2 are parameters that define the two ranges of dates.
The column formulas are, from left to right:
    =ixDimGet("BPA", "CardName")
=ixGet("SO_DocTotal")      <-- filtered by column expansion for first date range
=ixGet("SO_DocTotal")      <-- filtered by column expansion for second date range
The report works fine except for one problem, I would like it to include BPs for which no transaction occurred in either date range as well.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Lang Riley

Really appreciate your feedback!  Those are good suggestions. I should have mentioned that I had already tried both those suggestions.
Removing FACT on BPA in this case ends up returning all the BPs and not respecting the SLP(SlpName = "aName") part of the query.
Using **, i.e., * or #NULL, makes no change in the resulting data in this case.  I had thought that ** would be the solution, but it didn't change the outcome.  I still have BPs for which when their sales employee is used as the filter and they have no transactions for either date range, and yet they still do not appear.
I should further mention that the IXL query, as it now stands, does return BPs for which one of the periods has no data, just not both, and I have verified that applicable BPs with no transaction data for both periods do exist in my data set.  It seems that perhaps the IXL query needs to be restructured?  Please keep the suggestions coming including how this query might be restructured if necessary.

  • Change Data in BPS Layout: Exit Function

    Hello everyone,

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
After some changes in the code, it seems that xth_data table is assuming the “new content”. In debugging, we could see that the assignment was made and xth_data records are now in a different order. But when executing the BPS Layout assigned to this planning function, all the lines (records) still in the same place. The Layout doesn’t change.

  • Data columns in BPS layout

    Hi,
My current BPS layout has three columns, they are cost, price and margin respectively. The user now ask to add another column call "alert" after the margin column.
The logic is that if the margin is less than 10%, then the alert column should marked with "X", otherwise leave it blank.
In order to add a column after margin column, the added column have to be key figure which will not allowed characteristics, while all the other key figure type such as amount, quantity, date ect will not take
    "X".
      Any idea or suggestion.

    JW,
If Margin is the last column on your layout, what you do is in the last layout definition screen, add the locl excel formula to the column after where the margin would appear.  Then you just use simple excel formula to do it.
For things to appear only if there is data in the row, I typically use an IF in the excel formula and check for values in cost, price, margin.  Actually it would be 2 nested IFs.  One to check for value and the other to determine the 10% and mark it with a X...  In purely excel formula, there is no distinction between key figures and characteristics since it is only Excel.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data in BPS layout columns

    Hi,
I have two data columns in my BPS layout called price and margin with one lead column material, the layout looks like this when it initially display:
       Material    Price   margin
          1          1.25
          2
          3
          4
The requirments is if user input date in the margin column and the price should be calculated by the following logic
second  material price = (first price ) + (first margin) and so on.
if we input margin column 0.50,0.40 0.30  for material 1,2,3,4 respectively, we will get the following price result:
        Material    Price   margin
          1          1.25    0.50
          2          1.75    0.40
          3          2.15    0.30
          4          2.45
I am tried to use the excel formula for achieve this, but as much as I know the excel formula can not been saved when we configure the BPS layout, beside since the number of material display under different data selection criteria is vary, it's diffculty to hard code the formula in the excel.
Anybody have any suggestion how to do it?

    Hi JW,
BPS is designed in a way that layouts and planning functions are completely independent of each other (otherwise you would have to build a layout for each function or something like that).
The data in the layout is sorted according to the lead column. So if you use FOREACH in FOX with the same characteristic, the data will be processed in the same order as the lead column.
Alternatively, you can do it with an exit function. All you need to do in an exit is copy XTH_DATA into an internal table and then use the SORT statement with the same sort key as the lead column.

  • Locking data in BPS layout

    Hi Guys,
I have  one Planing Layout which different users will access for planning  but for different Cost centers. But as of Now when User1 is loggining in it is fetching all Cost Centers and User2 is getting Locked . he is not able to change any plan data .
Now I want that when user1 will logon in BPS Layout ,he/she should fetch up the data for Cost centers for which he/she is authorized . So, other users should not be locked. they should continue to plan for other Cost centers.
your Suggessions will be hIghly Appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pankaj.

    Hi Pankaj,
I suppose you want an input variable for 'User Group' based on which you would write an exit variable for Cost Center. I am a bit out of touch of BPS but as far as I think, you cannot do that because you cannot include a nav. attr. in a planning level. If you can think of some other way other than an input var. for 'User Group' then it might help. One way could be to include 'User Group' as a separate characteristic in the planning level.
In Integrated Planning, this is definitely possible, because in an input ready query, the nav. attr is accessible like any other characteristic on which we are able to apply an input variable.
Maybe somebody else can throw more light on this particular scenario in BPS.

  • Issue in Datasource creation Transaction data

    Hi,
While creating the Datasource for the Transaction Data , we have info objects custom defined with length NUMC & length4 , but when in the proposal tab when saying the Load example data the data type and length are changing to INT2 and 5 like wise in fields tab also
why is this happening. Pls help.
    Regards,
    Sruthi

    Hi Sruthi,
This is normal when you create data sources. The system generally looks at the field values and decides its data type and length.
If you do not want this data type and length to be taken, what you can do is go to the fields tab, there it will prompt you with a message 'Copy fields from propsal' or someting like this, you click on 'No'. Instead in the fields tab you will find a column Info object, just write the technical name of the info object and press enter. This will take the data type and lenght of your info object.
    Hope this helps.
    thanks,
