just purchased a new 5th generation ( the previous one got stolen ); I put all 35 GB of music on it. It played very well 1 evening, but today it jumps from 1 part of a song to another, even not playing the song it shows it is playing ... any idea what went wrong ??? I already reapplied factory settings

"New and improved" antenna design on the 5th Generation that may or may not result in any real differences. I can't tell them apart specification or performance wise.
$90 is not bad for the 4th Generation, but you have No Warranty.
Apple sells re-furbished 4th Gneration models that look brand new with all accessories and New Warranty for $129. Check the online Store if you are interested.

Problems with brand new 5th generation 30GB

i recently purchased a 30GB video ipod on december 20, 2007. When i started it up this morning, it sounded like a piece was rattling around inside and then it shut itself off. Now when i try to turn it on i get the dead ipod symbol. What are my options with warranty and everything?

New 5th Generation! NOT Playing Music at the SAME LEVEL.

Hi, this problem is really destroying my ipod experience. (I have to contsantly fiddle with the volume with every track inorder to stop my ears being blown out. Come on apple. (Get the basics right?) These new ipods maybe scratch risistant, but thier buggy as ****! Its also about time apple increased the font resolution in their, oww so borring! menu system. Its no longer a pleasure to look at. Just an annoyance Like the none colour ipods)

OK, I am also frustrated with the volume levels. I have tried manually adjusting with the slider in options, but was getting inconsistant results when playing through the dock. SO I tried mp3Gain, and spent a while letting it equalize the gains on 500 songs, but it did not work well. It seemed to over compensate, and the loud albums become way too soft. Seems there is no easy fix. How can you just guess how much to slide the slider, then wait till it uploads to the iPod again, then compare levels again. And for how many songs? But so far, that seems to be the best way, but again, I think the dock output is disregarding these changes.

The message means what it says. iTunes can't find the actual music files. You can confirm that by trying to play the songs in iTunes on the computer.

IPod Nano 5th generation cannot connect to the computer

My Nano 5th generation cannot connect to my computer when the device is connected to a USB cord. I have an existing library which I have synced to numerous times but all of a sudden, the iPod does not connect using the USB cord. I've tried changing ports on the computer but to no avail. I share the computer with another user who has a totally different library (their's is an iPod Touch) and there is no problem connecting this iPod Touch to the computer and iTunes library. I cannot figure out why the Nano 5th generation is not connecting by way of the USB cord. Somebody please help me

Have you tried plugging the iPod into a different USB port? Sometimes this can fix the problem of a device not being seen by a computer.

Brand New 5th Gen iPod Touch Won't Connect to Wifi

I just got a brand new 5th gen iPod Touch and expected to have a fun night of playing with it, but instead I was trying to figure out why it won't connect to my network. Not a good introduction to a product.
Here is the related info and troubleshooting steps I've already tried:
- It will not connect to my wifi network
- The iPod Touch says "Unable to join the network [network name]" when I try to connect to my network (as opposed to "Could not find the network [network name]" when it is not the correct network name)
- I was able to connect to a random unsecure network nearby
- Of course I power cycled my router and modem to reset them
- My wireless router does not broadcast its SSID; I made it broadcast it and it still didn't connect
- My network is password protected. I tried changing the security type, as well as turning the password off altogether, but nothing worked
- My wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 v3
- Even though it's brand new, I tried resetting the iPod Touch and the network settings
Does anyone have any tips or solutions for this?
I wasn't able to find other people with this problem, at least not with solutions that I haven't tried. It's really frustrating not being able to connect to the internet with my new device.
I will point out that my Android phone connected to my wifi network on the first try with no problems.

Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

Why in the world would anyone want to remove all existing music just to sync the music? How would I compare what is on my phone from what is on my macbook itunes to see what might be lost? How do I get it to sync?

That usually means your phone was previously sync to a different iTunes media library.
by syncing to your Mac now, if want to wipe the data off the phone and sync it with the data currently in the iTunes media library.
