Brand new FIOS internet customer and...
I signed up for the 50/25 and this morning I was easily getting that speed and a little more. This evening on the verizon speed test I'll burst up to maybe 30 then drop in the single digits and the test wont even complete. I've tried this every which way possible even direct connected to the FIOS router with a CAT6 cable. So I decided to try out the optimizer program except when I go to download it my AV on my firewall says its a trojan. Is this what I signed up for for the next 2 years??????

New FiOS Internet Customer Lied to By Sales Rep - EXTREMELY UNHAPPY
I had FIOS Internet installed in my new apt about a month ago. Before moving, I conducted my due diligence among the providers in my area. In order to sell me on the product, I had a couple chats with Sales Reps, which was documented on some type of call log. Anyways - on the last call I had, the Sales Rep convinced me to order FIOS Internet over the phone. She assured me that she would be able to match the price as reflected and promoted online. I wanted the 25/25 Internet service which was 49.99 for the first 12 months, and 69.99 for following 12 months. The Sales Rep then sent me the confirmation e-mail displaying the price. I immedaitely notified the Sales Rep that the discount offer was not reflected, but she assured me that it would show up on my bill. She even went so far as to get a manager on the line to confirm that. The reason the Sales Rep said it wasnt reflected was due to a glitch/outage they were experiencing. Allegedly - the outage would not allow the proper discounts and credits to appear on their screen, but again she assure me that this would not be the case when I received my bill. On that condition (receiving a proper bill with the appropriate quoted price) I approved of the deal.
A month later, I received a bill THAT DID NOT REFLECT WHAT WAS PROMISED. After waiting for Verizon to amend the bill, to no avail, I decided to call Customer Service. That was an absolute waste of my time - an hour and change to hear the same story (not to mention the first Customer Service Rep deliberately hanging up on me after about 30 min). That what the Sales Rep said was not true - Sales Rep's cant match the online prices. [As an aside - why on Earth can't Sales Rep's for Verizon match the price that Verizon offers? That is very weird to me. You all work for the same company.].
Why cant Verizon match what was offered/promoted - and what is currently being promoted at the moment on the web?
To support my claim with facts - why would I agree to a $74.99+ price quote (that of 'no annual contract') for a 24 mo contract - when the 24 mo. contract obviously has a discounted price. Furthermore, in my due diligence and research, why would I agree to take a higher price when the quote online for the same service is far lower? All this implies is that in fact the Sales Rep did assure me that she could "match" the price promoted - there is no logical reason for me to accept anything else.
I need this to be resolved or I will soon cancel this service and move over to TWC. What this really amounts to is misrepresentation by the Sales Rep, and an unreliable Customer Service.Hi mesalaza,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal. -
Hoping someone can help a new FIOS internet user that's not much of a tech person. I have a new Verizon FIOS connection at home and an ActionTec wireless router connected to a box on the wall by coax cable. No problem with the wireless connection to my two family laptops, nice strong signal all through the house.
I want to connect two powered switches by ethernet cable to the ports on the router. One to connect my DirectTV box and bluray player so they have internet connections, and one in my basement to run a desktop PC that doesn't have a wireless card in it. Are there any problems with this? Does Verizon allow me to have two separate switches connected to the router which then power multiple items? Thanks!

Go to Solution.You should have no problem connecting a switch to each of two ports on the Actiontec, and then feeding multiple devices from those switches. I'm doing that myself.
However, I don't understand why you need a switch in the circuit between the router and the desktop PC in the basement. If there's only going to be one device connected in the basement a direct run of Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable from an Actiontec port to the basement PC should do the trick. -
I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was? I want to make sure I will still have various important files on my new computer, like my songs in iTunes, my photos in iPhoto, etc, etc. Thanks so much in advance!

When you turn on the new iMac for the first time, Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so connect the external disk and follow steps to restore all your files to your new iMac. Your new Mac will have the same settings and programs as your old computer.
In other cases, I would recommend to restore the whole backup without using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, but a Late 2012 iMac uses a special OS X build, so the OS X version that you're using on your old Mac won't work on the new one. I just bought a brand new Cannon GL2 camcorder and I am trying to import some video footage into Final Cut Pro version 5.01. Whenever I put up the Log and Capture screen and turn my camcorder on the computer starts to think(the spinning color wheel) and not let me do anything else not even press play unless I completely turn the camcorder off again which defeats the whole purpose of me even importing footage. I don't understand why the Log and Capture screen won't let me import any video my old Sony Digital Hi8 was importing just fine a day ago, but now that I bumped up to the GL2 for some reason the Log and Capture screen isn't doing it's job so well by the computer starting to think(the spinning color wheel) instead of working. I have used the Cannon GL1 in the past and it worked like a charm. So I don't understand why the GL2 wouldn't be any easier? It is just giving me this problem and I don't know wether it's the firewire bus or what? Can someone please help me with my dilemma?
Ha...ha..very funny...but ah yeah from reading other posts on the "Canon" GL2 I figured out that you can't have multiple devices plugged into the firewire bus at the same time while you're importing video into Final Cut Pro. That's a HUGE bummer...thanks guys for your help you where fast and reliant. But now I have another problem my internal hard drive only has 4 GB out of 75 GB and my applications take up at least 40 GB of space. How am I going to connect my 600 GB external hard drive to the computer and import footage at the same time? Can you guys help me with this now?

I just updated my mac from Tiger to Mountain Lion. wiped the computer clean and started fresh Loaded Photoshop elements 11 (brand new in the box) and when I try to start it - it comes up saying - Licensing for the product has stopped working contact for help. in Looking for help I was directed here. what do I do?
I don't know enough to not follow directions. I bought the software brand new in a sealed from factory box. Had it sitting around until - last week when I deleted flash on my computer and had to upgrade to the new OSX. Mountain Lion doesn't use iPhoto - so I had to go with something else. Since I already had this new - unopened package I opened it up. Shut down all running programs - inserted the disk and followed all the directions for installation. Still it didn't work.
I have now uninstalled it (the proper way) and am going to try again.

That's not a reset pin. There is no reset hole in which to poke it. Neither is there a reset button. It is the SIM removal tool. If you had it, it would save you the agony of finding a paper clip.

StephenHello , Welcome to the HP Community. I'd like to help you with the installation and printing issues you are having with your HP Laserjet Pro M201dw, on your Windows 8.1 operating system. I can certainly understand your frustration, it seems like you have attempted the install multiple times. First, I'd recommend running the Print and Scan Doctor, to see if it can resolve any errors in the software without having to re-install. If it does prompt you to re-install your software, I would suggest uninstalling all M201dw software from the Programs section of your control panel. Once that's done, do a cleanboot of your computer. You can find instructions to complete the cleanboot here: How to perform a clean boot in Windows Note: This will turn off all non-essential startup items, so if it's another program on your computer that is causing the installation to lag, it should resolve the install issue. Rather than installing from the download or the CD that came with the printer, I'd suggest downloading and running the HP Printer Install Wizard. HELP!! - Brand New z87gd85 no display and now no power ?
I bought new PC 2 days back here's the config -
Processor - 4770k
Motherboard - MSI z87GD65 gamming
GPU - MSI TwinFrozer GTX 780 gamming
RAM - Corsair vengence 8gb x 2
PSU - Corsair TX 850
UPS - APC 1500va Model : BR1500
Cabinet - Corsair 400R
I assembled everything yesterday but when tried to switch it on there was no display. Motherboard powersup, fans are rotating but no display.
I tried twice and then i removed GPU but got same results with onboard also. I checked both via DVI and vga both on onboard. There was no error code on motherboard debug display it was showing : 00 all the time. There was no beeping or anything.
So I removed everything and tried again with only 1 ram but still same result. But this time I let it run like that for 1 minute and it shut down automatically and there was no sign of power on the motherboard. Since then i tried everything reconnecting cables, restarting PSU, UPS, tried minimal config with just motherboard and cpu only, tried it by pulling motherboard out of case also, etc
BUT SAME RESULTS MOTHERBOARD IS NOT SHOWING ANY SIGN OF POWER ON ANY LED , FAN OR ANYTHING.
I checked my new PSU on my old motherboard, it worked.
I checked my old PSU (corsair TX 650) on new motherboard (with only mobo and cpu) AGAIN NO SIGN OF POWER.
IS MY MOTHERBOARD DEAD ?
Any ideas what else I can test ????
This is brand new board didn't worked even once.
After spending fortune on new high end gamming pc it just doesnt work NOT EVEN ONCE. Its really frustrating :|

Hi APC tells me none of there backup ups are to be used on haswell high performance systems. They told me to change mine to the Smart ups model. Just try it plugged into a anti surge bar and see if that helps. They recommend to never use more than 80 % of what the ups can put out.

Its "backup pro" & suppose to be new series as told by customer care but yes 85% efficiency at full load but TX 850 also has 80% efficiency. Still I am not really sure about UPS that's why I called customer care in first place. I will check that again with tech support from APC and I will upgrade if required.
But I don't really think thats the problem since PC isnt working even when connected to the mains directly. -
I just bought an iphone 4 about 2 weeks ago. the facebook application and safari run slow. I've deleted facebook and downloaded it again. Its a brand new phone so i'm not sure if i have the settings wrong or if theres something wrong with the phone?

Brand new laptop: Incredibly slow and laggy.

My mum received a brand new laptop on Saturday (this exact laptop) it hasnt been overly used as yet but the laptop seems very VERY slow. Browsers take a good while to open, sites like Facebook take ages to load - Farmville 2 for example takes an age to load and even when it does its very laggy.
Why is this band new laptop so slow? Nothing has been installed on it other than Firefox and the spec of the laptop seems pretty reasonable. Windows 8 is horrible but thats another issue.
Can anyone help or give any advice?Do you open farmville from the laptop or from the internet? Have you checked the speed of your LAN or wireless?

When you open application on the laptop is it slow?
Trying to determine if it is the connectivity is slow or if it is your laptop.
Also what version of AMD Catalyst are you using?
Here are some things you can do to make sure you are fully updated.
Make sure you have the most current .NET Framework 4.0
Make sure you have the most current DirectX 11.2
Make sure all of the other Microsoft Updates are complete as well. Missing Updates can cause issues.
Uninstall the AMD Catalyst you have now, before installing the Beta version.
I know most are trying to use the AMD Catalyst 13.9, which is used Windows 8 64-bit.

Looking for an information management solution. I have three boys that have brand new ipad mini's. I would like to set them up to manage information the easiest way.
My first thought was to use my apple ID for their apps and purchases. This would give me the advantage of seeing everything downloaded and be able to monitor this closely. The disadvantage to me, was that they would see all of my contracts, my apps, and my music.
My other thought was to create one new apple ID and to share that among the three boys. This way I would not have to worry about my information being on their ipads.
This is a very confusing situation for me. My goal is seperate my stuff from my kids stuff. Appreicate input from anyone who has in-depth experience with this as it applies to apple ID, icloud ID, and any detailed explaination of how to do this would be appreiciated. Thanks.I think I will do this. I will use my apple ID and set face time and message to work independently. That solves one problrem. My other problem and maybe my bigger problem is that if I am using my apple ID, how do I iflter all of this so that my kids don't see my contacts, get my apps, etc. ?
