Break a dependency of a running process on the X session
Is it possible to break a dependency of a running process that was started on an X session such that I can exit the X session and the process still runs? Example:
*Login to X
*Start an application, for example a file transfer that will take several hours
If I log out of X, that process will die along with anything else I am running under X. I want to be able to take that process and somehow push it out of the xsession so it will continue to run even after I log out of X or even stop X all together (say drop down to runmode 3).
tmux or screen...
Or, if you are referring to a process that is currently running, you could try reptyr

Like this how to do ?
Please provide me code.I don't know, if you mean you have done your form or you have solved the problem.
It's visible your code is only partly reflecting your screenshot, and that's okay to demonstrate the problem you have given a fine example.
As you marked my suggestion as solution this may not be needed anymore, but here's how I modified your code and used a self made QuestionBox instead of messagebox.
The essential part is defining a callback method and letting the QuestionBox call back there. It's not essential I used RAISEEVENT, but it's fine as it has all the behaviour and parameters needed to call back.

I didn't yet introduced a timer for counter display updates. As you see the counter hangs a bit, if you mouse over your form, but it is a way of multithreading without using a separate thread and instead keep the rest of the application active by DOEVENTS

GR/IR expenses not affected with the settlement rule run process in the GL
<i><b>Please neglect by previous post with the same title</b></i>
There is a problem I face while running the settlement rule process related to internal orders on the GR/IR expenses.
According to the internal order settlement rule every expense associated to an Internal order no. whether its an account payable or manual journal accounts it should be settled (distributed) on the cost centers specified in each internal order after the monthly settlement run process is done through T.Code "KO8G", and this actually happens on the entries that are booked manually through T.Code "FB50", but the GR/IR entries is the biggest problem, it didn't reflect the settlement rule distributions in the GL it just gives me the original transaction once its was automatically created through T.Code "MIGO" they are only allocated to a one profit center with no cost center and without being distributed to a multiple cost centers according to the distribution strategy.
After a long search I found that the cost center distribution occurred only on a secondary none GL account named A&P Settlement (720010), all GR/IR expenses was settled correctly only on this account not through the ordinary GL accounts (e.g. Gifts, printed materials) and of course the correct distribution didn't appear in the GL,
So is there a transaction or any way to allocate the GR/IR expenses to there correct cost centers with the correct cost element in the GL?
Is there anything to do with the GR/IR calculation that depends on quantity base not value base?
<i><b>The Process as follows:</b></i>
(<b>1) Creating Internal order with a settlement rule (E.g. Cost center 1 (50%) Cost center 2 (50%)</b>
<b>2) Creating a purchase order associated to an internal order</b>
<b>3) The Goods received and creating the GR transaction T.Code "MIGO"</b>
Acc/DR Expenses accounts
Acc/CR GI/IR Account 400301
Profit enter ###### (eg. 111177)
Cost Center <blank>
Internal order no. ####### (e.g. 9810512)
<b>
4) Closing the GR/IR accounts when receiving the invoice T.Code "MIRO"</b>
<b>When we receive vendor invoice:</b>
Acc/Dr GI/IR Account 400301
Acc/Cr Vendor Account
Profit enter ###### (eg. 111177)
Cost Center <blank>
Internal order no. ####### (e.g. 9810512)
<b>5) Performing the Internal order settlement rule run process</b>
<b>(N.B.</b> By entering the report of the cost center (Actual/Plan/ Variance) T.Code S_ALR_87013611
I found that GR/IR expenses was not charged on the concerned cost centers as shown in the GL <b>)</b>
<b>Your Reply is highly appreciated</b>Thanks for your kind reply,
But is there a way solve this problem?
And what is the use of leaving a field in the account assignment tab for an internal order while creating a PO and it will not take advantage of the settlement rule????????
And as you know the internal order settlement is a way to create a multiple account assignment
Can we solve the problem by making an automatic fake transaction that reverse the value of the GR/IR and creating another transaction can apply on it the settlement rule??
You know that settlement rule process is one of the best features in the SAP system it save time and effort to make distributions manually -

Normal running processes for the 4S?
Is there a list of what processes should be runing on the 4s, 'stock' processes?
Processes that would be running on a phone right after activation. Processes from apps that came on the phone, before additions. That's what I mean when I say 'stock'.

Start a new process from a running process BPM 10.3 STUDIO!
Is it possible to create a process in BPM Studio 10.3 from a running process.
The scenario is that we have a process running listening to a jms queue an when a message
arrives it's starts the process that was requested in the in message.
/Getrif you have a Global Automatic activity listening to a JMS queue, here's how you can create a new work item instance in a process using logic in the Global Automatic activity's method. This uses the "Fuego.Lib.ProcessInstance.create()" method shown below:
// "args" is an associative string array (Any[String])
argsIn as Any[String]
// this assumes that the Begin activity has two argument variables
// named "nameArg" and "amountArg" and you're setting them
// to the variables "name" and "amount" respectively
argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject
// logic here to determine the name of the process to create an instance in
idOfProcess as String
idOfProcess = <hard coded string that has the id (not the name of the process to instantiate>
ProcessInstance.create(processId : "/" + idOfProcess, arguments : argsIn, argumentsSetName : "BeginIn") ProcessInstance is in the Catalog inside Fuego.Lib.
The processId parameter (the "idOfProcess" variable in the above logic) is the thing I most commonly screw up with this. It is the text you see when you right mouse click the process in the Project Navigator tab -> "Properties". Look at the value in the "Id" field and not the "Name" field here (the name without any space characters). Prefix it with a "/" as is shown here and if you've deployed this using an organization unit (OU) then prefix this to the string also.
The third parameter is almost always "BeginIn". Begin activities in a process can have many incoming argument mappings, the default is "BeginIn". To see yours, double click the process's Begin activity and look at the mapping's name in the upper left corner of the dialog.
"argsIn" is the set of incoming argument variables you want passed into the process. A common mistake is to type in the names of the incoming argument variables without the double quotes like this:
// this will *NOT* work
argsIn[someArgVarName] = "Hello"
argsIn[someBpmObject] = myBpmObject
. . .Here is the correct syntax:
// this *WILL* work
argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject
. . .In this example, the process has two argument variables. It does not matter if the incoming argument variables are primitive type arguments (e.g. String, Integer, Decimal...) or BPM Objects, it is always done the same way. In this example, there is a String incoming argument called "someArgVarName" and a BPM Object incoming argument called "someBpmObject".

ProgressIndicator and hourglass for long running processes
Hi all,
Iam using Oracle ADF 10g with EJBs.
I have a long running process for which I want to give the user an indication of its progress. The process is run upon clicking a submit button.
I have tested the use of the combination of progressIndicator + poll according to the example of Gerger consulting( http://gergerconsulting.blogspot.com/2007/04/adf-faces-progressindicator-example-for.html) but it did not work. The problem is that my long running process hangs the page and the progress bar does not work until the process has finished.
I have seen a similar post in this foum (Re: How to run long background jobs in ADF applications where a user complains that there is not an Oracle method for running asynchronous processes from Oracle ADF.
I've tested to isolate my asynchronous process with the progressIndicator + poll in a single ADF page. The process is being activated from an invokeAction from the executables of the pagedef file. But again the process hangs the page and the progressIndicator does not display at all.
So I have abandoned the idea of the progress indicator and Iam thinking of using an hourglass.
Is there an example or guidelines of how I can do it?Thanks John for your reply,
Iam still working on the progressIndicator. I have read the discussion thoroughly quite many times.
One thing I have not yet figured out from your discussion is how you manage to create the long-running-process thread within an action method within the managed bean and make the thread still be active, while the parent action method has finished.
Usually the managed beans attached to a .jspx pages has request scope. So a commandButton's action method (that will spawn the long running thread) will finish much earlier than the thread and it will kill the thread.
Thanks,

Long running process/query
One of my after submit processes involves a lot of processing, temp tables, sorting, aggregating, etc.
When this process is invoked from a page, is there a way to put up a generic 'Processing...' page that auto refreshes and when my back-end process is done, takes me to my results page?
ThanksLet me see if I understand you...
So, the first page (that would have invoked the long running process) branches to the "processing page". That page has a onload that does doSubmit(). The after submit process on this processing page calls my long running process via dbms_job. When the long running process ends, the branch on the processing page takes me back to the first page (or whereever).
But then as far as the browser is concerned, the processing page never "finishes loading". IE's progress bar would creep ahead sloooowly and it would appear as if the page is loading for a looong time!
Wouldnt it be cleaner to use the META refresh tag like John was suggesting?
Also, using either of your approaches, how would I allow the user to "Cancel" the long running process and go back to the first page?
Could you please put up a quick sample of this in action on htmldb.oracle.com?
Thanks -
Context when Invoking Long Running Processes
When I use a long running process to invoke another long running process, the creator of the second long running process is always "System Context Account".
Is it possible to invoke one long running process using another long running process using the context of the workspace user? The primary need here is to be able to track the process in the audit tab.Hi gary,
Thanks for the update.
I have just tried your "Run As" approach which is also not working.
My testing scenario:
I have created two processes (a Parent and a Child)
I have enabled RunAs option with 'Invoker' for the Child process.The parent process is configured to invoke the Child internally.
I am, as a user, invoking the Parent process from Workspace. The Child process is being invoked; However, the process's creator name still shows 'System Context Account'. I do remember that this issues was exist in previous release as well ES (8.0).
Is this a bug? or am I missing something in between?
Please advise.
Thanks,

Hi,
wehn we run process chain , the result from optimizer log showing error indicator , we check the abap run time using ST22 and discovered the message
DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR
what the message try to tell us , how to troubleshoot it .?
thanksHi AF,
try to look on SAP notes 978417 - Latch Monitor and Table Access Monitor: DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR. I guess this will solve your problem. It states also here on how you fix the issue.
Let me know if this make sense. Have a nice day!

Running process in bg, logged out. Logged in on other terminal, termination
Hi,
I have got an issue.
Is there a possibility to "somehow" terminate implicitly a process on other session (when you are just logged in and nothing more is done), which has been introduced some time ago ?
I mean that scenario:
Terminal 1: run process in the background - jobs tells it is running. Then, I log out from this terminal.
Terminal 2: After above operations, I log in once again and do nothing. I am just logged in.
Is there a possibility, to terminate Terminal 1's process running in the background, when I do nothing on Terminal 2?
/Greg GI have The same problem, hopefully someone can help us

Monitoring the running process
hi all!
i am working on antispyware.
my problem is:
how to monitor the computer running processes from the attacking of any spyware/virus
if some one has sample code, plz send me
plz guide me in this regard, so i can proceed in my work.
best regardsThanks.
That makes no sense. Especially given that listener handles the connect and then no longer is involved in the communication between client and database.
I would strongly suggest you check Metalink, or even open a service request. This sounds like it could be a memory leak. Do it now, while it is still possible - 9i goes into extended support in a few weeks and bug fixes will be difficult to arrange. -

Problem Running Process Flow When Database Objects Deployed Outside of OWB
Hi
I am having a few problems running process flows that I'm deploying through OMB.
My set up is as follows:
All database updates are done outside of OWB (for version control purposes).
Each object within OWB is exported to an MDL file, which is then imported into the production repository using an OMB Script.
Once everything has been imported into my production version, I'm then deploying the process flows from within the OMB script.
When I then go to run the process flow, I get the following error ...
RPE-02075: Oracle Workflow failed to process the execution request for Activity LOAD_COUNTRY_PF:LOAD_COUNTRY. This may be because dependent objects have not yet been deployed.
I can see through the Control Center, that the status of all the objects that the process flow is going to use are set to having a Design Status of 'New'. So obviously OWB doesn't realize that these objects already exist in the database, which is why the process flow errors.
Is there any way around this? Can I somehow set the Design Status of all the objects to 'Unchanged' through OMB? Is there a way to fool the process flow into thinking that the objects do exist? Can I run the process flow outside of OWB?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
LiffeyHi Liffey,
Is there any way around this?
Can I somehow set the Design Status of all the objects to 'Unchanged' through OMB?
Is there a way to fool the process flow into thinking that the objects do exist?of course you must deploy mappings before deploying processflow
and as I know there is no legal method for avoiding this.
Regards,
Oleg
PS. Look at this thread [Deploying without Deploy|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2655726]
It seems for OWB10gR1 exists method for manual modification OWB runtime repository tables for mark mappings as deployed -
Hi,
Please provide an overview of AP payment run process.
Thanks,
TeoHi,
APP ( T.code F110) is used to make payments enmasse for one or more vendors/customers.
We can also group vendors/customers for more than 1 co.code for payments.
The entore config for APP is done in capsule T.code FBZP.
Here are the steps:
1. Set up paying and sending co.codes( In case of cRoss co. payments paying and sending co.codes will ahve to be different)
2.Set up a payment method for country and co.code 1 each for outgoing and incoming payments.
3.Define house banks and set up bank accounts for payment method with relative ranking.
4.In F110 :
define the parameters like co,code;vendors etc
craete and edit a payment proposal where you can select the open items to be paid
create and run a payment run
Hope this helps.
I would also recommend to go thru SAP help and also search this forum for further notes and specific queries in F110.
Pls assign points if this info was helpful.
Thanks,
Vamsi
