Bridge for assets on 2 computers

First I'm a freelance designer, I work solo most of the time, I have a laptop and a desktop. My main issue is managing and updating my assets between systems. I've been freelancing for about 6 years now, and I've collected lots of audio, video, and images in that time. I've never really had a great system of organizing, I have some folder structure, but it's messy. I really want to optimize my files so they're searchable and available between systems.
What do you use to manage these kind of files so that you can have them on both computers with the same meta data or folder structure? I'm really looking for some suggestions for organization... I've got to get it cleaned up, or just delete it all. It'd be nice if I can use Bridge, but a quick search brings up alot of results that say Bridge isn't a DAM, but I don't need the expense of a DAM if I can avoid it.

My situation is a little different and I am not too enthusiastic about what the answer is going to be...
I have a MacPro that has all my Lightroom data, and I want to use my MacBook Pro, which is newer and therefore on a newer Mac OS, to import and tweak before pulling those files into my main computer for more intense edits etc.  My issue i think is going to be I have an older Mac with Lightroom 5 installed BEFORE the Adobe Cloud pissed off thousands of creative people, and the answer is going to be that I have to pay to upgrade.
I was forced into this because I failed to install LR on my Macbook sooner, so if you know how I can get the MBP licensed with my current key, then that would be great!
This question needs to be answered as I am on the trial version which has a couple of weeks left on it.
Thanks
Dan

  • Problems with Bridge for Mac 3.7

I've been using Bridge for Mac for a while without any problems, but since it downloaded the 3.7 update it won't recognize my phone. When I connect, it thinks for a few seconds, then says it cannot connect. I've tried deleting and redownloading the app, and deleting any relevant system files I can find. If I connect it in Windows with the same cable and through the same USB port, PC Companion recognizes it no problem. Any idea what's going on here?

    Hi mcilwr01,
I'm sorry Bridge isn't working for you, and I understand you're upset.
Could you please send me error logs that I can forward to the development crew? Otherwise it's near impossible to tell what's causing your problems.
Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
    1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
    2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
    3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Export logs"
    4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
    5. PM that file to me or post the contents here
We are working on solving the problems of 3.7 as fast as possible, I apologize for not having a solution for you right now.

  • Sony Bridge for Mac doesn't work with my Sony Xperia J

I have installed Sony Bridge for Mac version 3.7.1, but it won't connect to my Sony Xperia J which I have only had for 3 months.
I get the error "Could not connect to your Xperia device. Please disconnect and reconnect it again. Restart the device if the problem persists". All the time.
I have tried all of the suggestions in the error message. I have also tried reinstalling Sony Bridge for Mac, to no avail.
I am running Mac OS X 10.9.2 on an iMac. I am also using the correct USB lead - the one supplied with the phone.
The Mac system log shows this error:
Apr  3 20:42:35 robins-imac.default Sony Ericsson Bridge for Mac[973]: BUG in libdispatch client: kevent[EVFILT_WRITE] delete: "No such file or directory" - 0x2
I suspect that whoever wrote Sony Bridge for Mac did not try it on OS X 10.9.2.
I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this phone and getting one that works properly with the Mac - ie, not a Sony phone. Sony always seem to have problems with supporting Macs, for some bizarre reason.

    Hi Yorkshirecomposer,
I will ask the development crew about the system log error. Additionally, could you provide me with error logs to send them as well?
Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
    1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start

  • Problems With Bridge for Mac - Playlists and Photos

I have a Sony Xperia Z3, up to date and an updated version of sony bridge for Mac, so there isnt any problems there for a start.
Firstly, when I syncronise my playlists, all the tracks are present on my phone, however not divided into the playlists I syncronised them in. Theres 1000's of songs, so to recreate the playlists individually is very tedious, is there no way of transferring the songs in their collections, so they can be viewed in the itunes playlists?
Secondly, I syncronised alot of photos from iPhoto using the app. Lots of photos have turned up with a black picture icon on the phone, I assume corrupt. Other photos have syncronised all distorted. Why is this? Again, there are alot of these so to do it in smaller sets is also tedious, as the app is pretty slow compared to syncronising with itunes and my old iphone.
Overall, not impressed with bridge for mac, its a pretty unreliable and slow program!

    Hi richardackroyd!
Sorry to hear about your problems.
It's hard for me to know exactly what causes the problems.
Can you please send me the error-logs for both the probems.
So I can forward them to the development team.
Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
    1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start

  • Xperia Arc Bridge for Mac not detecting

    Hi
I am using a Xperia Arc (LT15i) android version 2.3.4. I haven't updated this phone in ages and it is build number 4.0.2.A.0.62.
I'm using Sony Bridge for  Mac 3.2(3202).
I have been trying to update my phone. Unfortunately, Bridge for Mac doesn't detect that I have a device connected (using MTP mode) in order to update it. The program detects that I have a phone connected when I connect in MSC mode. The USB is good. I have tried turning it on and off and reconnecting and restarting the program.
    Any tips?

    Hi Dantroy,
I apologize for the delay in an answer. Do you get any error messages when trying to connect the phone in MTP mode or does nothing happen at all?
If you do get error messages could you please provide me with error logs as it's difficult to know what your problem is without more information. Otherwise, I would just suggest trying to reinstall Bridge as well as trying a different USB-cable (even though you say it's working).
Here's how to get error logs out of Bridge:

I'm sorry I can't solve your problem right away.

  • Bridge for Mac loses connection with Xperia E4g

I am using a brand new Xperia E4g dual with Mac and PCs. At the beginning, the application was performing correctly, now, BfM starts, recognizes the phone and after a while ist says "Connection problems" and I cannot access the unit anymore (looks lik e a  timeout issue). Tried two different Mac plattforms with different OS version, same result, tried PC Companion platform, works fine, any help? Might there be a cache file which should be deleted?

  • Bridge for Mac crashes constantly

I'm running Bridge for Mac 3.8 on a 32 bit MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8.
I have been trying to transfer music from iTunes to the Z2 without any success.  Every time it ends either with Bridge for Mac crashing or with a fail error.  If I attempt one file at a time it works but if I try to transfer multiple files in a playlist, even if there is room on the Z2, the transfer fails.

  • Browse files on Xperia device - Sony Bridge for Mac

is it just me, or is using the Sony bridge for mac's "Browse files on Xperia device" pretty useless?
Sure you can see what files are on the device, but if you right click there are no options... you can't hit space bar to view pics on the device and even double clicking on a file does NOTHING! Isn't there something else I could rather use other than Sony Bridge for Mac to view my devices files?

Not a Mac expert but with Windows based systems you can open the Computers connected devices page and then open the device to view files meaning Pc Companion is not needed

  • Can't sync iPhoto albums with Sony Bridge for Mac

When I connect the Sony Xperia Z3 compact to the mac the Sony Bridge for Mac shows up. I select the option to explore iPhoto. At first nothing shows up (Sony developers, it would be nice to at least show a spinner or progress bar) but after a while events appear. However all other picture categories (faces, albums, pictures or last importation) don't show up.
Since I prefer to organize pictures by albums rather than events I can't sync anything, as I have no options to check. I'm using Sony Bridge for Mac 3.8.3(3831) and iPhoto 9.5.3 (902.17). Does somebody know how to solve this?

    Hi Asle!
I'm very sorry to hear that you have a problem with BFM.
I will try to help but I need some more information.

    (3) The version of iPhoto

  • Sony Bridge for Mac not transferring all music

Hello I am experiencing a problem with transferring music from my Mac to my Xperia T. For some reason some of my music is "grayed out" in Bridge for Mac whilst others appear a more light font colour which I am able to drag and drop to sync to my Xperia phone. I have tried putting my music into a playlist in itunes which bridge for mac seems to detect and sync however when i go into my phone and access the playlist it says "no content available" any idea why this is? It's not DRM related because some of the music are my own productions and other DRM free files. I have also tried moving my music into the folders in which my available music is stored and that too does not work. Any help? Can't seem to find anything about this online. I am using Bridge for Mac version 3.4 thanks

Hi Iksdt! I have been in contact with the development crew now. It's a known problem. Can you please give me the filenames of the songs. It will also be relay good if you can send me the log-file.

  • LDAP import for Asset Inventory - eDir support?

After reading the docs, it seems to indicate that if you wish to do an LDAP import for Asset Inventory (for demographic data) that you can only do a one to one relationship for the main item types.
    Meaning:
eDir User stuff can only be mapped to ZCM "user" stuff
Workstation stuff can only be mapped to ZCM Device stuff.
Since eDir does not have workstation things (unless you happen to be migrating from ZFD, in which case the eDir items will eventually be removed via the AWI process or no longer updated), I have to ask if eDir is truly supported?
I can see AD because users AND computers have to be in AD (well unless you wish to punish yourself and have your pc's be in a workgroup and not be in your AD Domain, but I've yet to see any customer have an AD domain and NOT have their workstations be members of said domain).
But seems the only LDAP import you could do with eDir (especially if ZCM is your first install) is user level items, but I'm not sure that would actually accomplish anything for DEVICES.
We had wanted to take the user level "location" and "department" fields and map them to the workstations. Appears the only way to do this is via the old method used by jared jennings for ZFD (I see he's updated it for ZCM as well)
Am I wrong? Is there a way to map eDir user level attributes to the device so that when you look at Site/Department on the device it has the items based up on the user that logs into it?

  • Airport extreme (UFO) used for bridge for remote camera system.

Where do I start! This could be a whole page of frustrated user set up of my APE.
Anyhow, after several hours of trying to get it to work, I'l give a quick summary of what I'm trying to accomplish.
What I Have : Airport extreme (square) base station running B/G specs (universal for all my computers)
Airport extreme ( UFO ), trying to use as a remote bridge for my video surveillance system in my basement.
What I want to do : Make the APE UFO talk to the APE square to send signal from my remote camera system to my APE square in my office.
Seems like it should be simple enough, however, I'm beyond myself at this point in trying to make it work. Maybe my settings are wrong on one, or even both of the APE's.
Port forwarding? Could I be missing a important step here?
Any thoughts, or step by step walk through would be very much appreciated.

You'll need to create a "static WDS" arrangement. To do that, you'll first need to note the MAC addresses ("AirPort IDs") of each station. Launch AirPort Utility, enter "manual setup" mode for the square APE, then hold down an "option" key while you pull down the "Wireless Mode" list under the AirPort/Wireless panel. Pick the choice to "Participate in a WDS network". Fill in the details, declaring the square APE to be the "WDS Main" and the AirPort ID of the UFO station in the WDS Remote" list. Save the configuration. Now use AirPort Utility on the "UFO" APE. (You may need to connect to it with an Ethernet cable to see it.) Set the "Wireless Mode" the same, declaring the base station as a remote station. Be sure to use identical values for network name, wireless security method, network password, band, and channel on both stations.
