Bridge over Dropbox?

A few recent blog posts have really convinced me to start using Bridge to manage and view a huge and very old collection of inspiration and reference images. Bridge's features like collections, favorites, and keywords are exactly what I need. But I'd like to keep these images in my Dropbox folder so I can access it from my work, home, and travel computers. Is there a way to share the collections/favorites/keyword information between computers this way? Perhaps store them centrally in Dropbox so I can read from and write to them from anywhere I have Dropbox installed?
Using Bridge CC on Windows 7 and 8.

but if I create a collection or a keyword on one computer, will another computer recognize them
Yes for keywords if you save this to the file itself, your other Bridge versions just reads the info and show it like all other IPTC.
But a collection is user related with aliases of the files as reference. If you want to share this you have to place a copy of the collection file (on a Mac the path is User library/ application support / Adobe/ Bridge xx / collections and inhere is the saved collection file).
So this is not easy to share, you can however add the collection name as a keyword on one system and with this create a smart collection using the keyword in the find on your second system.
Not ideal but Bridge is not designed nor official supported for usage over a network.

  • Bridging over GRE tunnel

    Dear expert,
Currently I have problem running bridging over GRE tunnel. We are using cisco 3640 but somehow under tunnel 0, the is no 'bridge-group 1' command. We are trying to get the IOS that support the command under tunnel 0 but to no avail. Can someone help me ? Thanks
    --ran

It's a hidden command.  Even do, you might get a warning messasge stating this is obsolete and unsupported, it still technically a valid configuration. Legacy, but works.
Keep in mind there are better solutions for this kind of connections.  But you can try it, it's simple anyways.
    Host1---Fa0/0--R1-------------GRE------------R2--Fa0/0---Host2
    1. Create a Loopback intf. on both routers and ensure L3 connectivity between them.
    2. Create bridge:
    router(config)#bridge 1 protocol ieee
    3. Create a GRE tunnel interface (dont configure IP's):
    router(config)# interface tun0
    router(config-if)# tun source loopback x
    router(config-if)# tun destination <other router loopback ip>
    router(config-if)# bridge-group 1
**This is a hidden cmd. You will get a warning message, but ignore it**
    3. Attach Physical Interface to Bridge as well:
    router(config)# interface Fa0/0
    router(config-if)# bridge-group 1
    4. Configure the Hosts IP addresses to be on the same IP Segment and validate communication between them.
You can try this on GNS3 as well.  I made a diagram and a brief explanation at another thread, but really don't remember how to get to it.
Once again, this is legacy and there are better ways to achieve this. But for small implementations this is valid and easier.  It also helps to understand the newer versions/enhancements to this as well.

  • Bridge Over Wifi

    Greetings,
The bluetooth on my phone keeps turning off.
The manual says that I can use BlackBerry Bridge over wifi, but it doesn't say how to set it up. How do I enable this?
    Thanks,
    Shane.

The manual says "When your smartphone and tablet are connected using BlackBerry Bridge, and both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, BlackBerry Bridge apps can exchange information between your devices using Wi-Fi instead of a Bluetooth connection."
    What part did I misread?

  • Adobe Bridge over a network.

Is it possible to set up Adobe Bridge cs5 or cs6 to operate over a network and be accessed by multiple users who share keyworks etc.?

Short answer: not by design, but you might get it to work partially. No one here is going to offer suggestions without making a lot of work for themselves.

  • Using Bridge over a network with others

Would Bridge be a good solution to set up photo library over a network that can be updated and modified with everyone on the network?

I believe that using Bridge to share image files on a network is possible. In fact, we're just about ready to golive with our image library on a network -- using Bridge as the browser.
Here's what I've discovered over the past sevral weeks of testing:
As Ramon correctly points out on this forum trying to share a centralized cache is indeed insane. But, as it turns out, it appears that one share cache files across multiple computers; providing these are Macs using CS4 of course. This is not the bext alternative but short of going with a cataloging system -- not always an choice for some organzations -- this is perhaps the only option available.
    2. I indexed our image library on my laptop, which took the better part of a day. Organizationally it consists of 56 folders, containing some 104,000 images for more than 434 gigabytes of space.
    3. I then copied the cache (and all files) to an external hard drive.
What I copied was on the following path: user>library>caches>Adobe?Bridge CS4>Cache
    4. I then went to a second computer -- networked to connect to the central image library drive --  and before launching Bridge I deleted the old cache file, and then copied the new cache file to the second computer. I then launched Bridge, navigated to the image library in the folders panel, clicked on several folders. One-by-one all the thumbs and previews loaded quickly and the metadata was right there as well, allowing for fairly quick and easy searching. And for us "searchability" is the KEY to having a central image library
    5. To add mages -- and here's where ity gets a bit klunky -- I intend to add subsequent folders as new images come in to be catalogued. I will then inform the designers that a new folder has been uloaded to the library -- they already have the path -- and that they will need to index that folder to make the images "searchable.
Hopefully this will work on all our designers' machines as well. I'll know more by the end of next week.
BUT, there are a couple of things to consider:
    1. Once a folder is indexed it cannot be moved nor can any of the files inside that folder be moved or manipulated in any way. For example, if you returned to a file to add additional metadata, then each user would have to reindex that particular folder on their local copy of Bridge. Having said that, it's not terribly difficult or challenging. In our case, since the image library is permanent once these folders are indexed and "accessed" on each machine that's it. It's the initial indexing that can take so much time.
    2. Make sure that permissions are in place before you golive. In our situation just me and my director have read/write permissions. All others have read only. This allows anyone to pull an image out of the library and use it as they see fit once the copy is on their desktop of course. They simply cannot make any changes, additions or alternations in the existing folders and files ON THE LIBRARY DRIVE.
    That's it for the moment.
    Stay tuned.

  • Extending Wireless Network and Bridging Over Ethernet

Have a TimeCapsule and Airport Basestation at home. Both are currently connected over wireless using the "Extend Wireless Network" feature.
On each of the devices have several laptops, mac minis etc. connected over Ethernet (since wireless insufficient for our high speed data transfers etc.)... Trouble we are having is the speed/connection between both the TC and the AP, so considering to connect them both over Ethernet to improve.
Question is once they are connected over Ethernet, what happens to the "Extend Wireless Network", how does the TC and AP know to either use the wireless or the Ethernet to connect with each other? Does one take precedence over the other?
We want to keep them both on Ethernet and Wireless bridge ideally, so that at opposite ends the wireless network is extended for our iPhones and iPads and all devices connected on Ethernet benefit the speed boost over Ethernet, but just not sure how it will behave, and not sure how to test this scenario....
    So asking here instead
    Thanks!

It sounds like you might want to configure your base stations into a "roaming network".

  • IBooks Author saving issues over Dropbox

I keep my working copy of a book in Dropbox. On one machine only I get a message when I close saying that it can't save because another machine has altered it. But it has not been open on this other machine. I've been using this for several years, but this has just recently begun to happen. Perhaps a factor and perhaps not, but one machine is on Mavericks and one is Mt Lion.

Its likely that when you work in iBA and it auto saves to the file which is the DB folder on your HD.
Do all you items dropped in DP auto update on other devices?    Dropbox should work independantly of a machines OS.
Creating a new account will not resolve anything in my opinbion, DB is a file sharing system and designed to work across multiple platforms.
I think the clue is in "recently began to happen..."    can you think back to what  changed you have made.

  • MPLS and bridging over FR

    Has anyone seen this message:
The bridge-group command is unsupported on the interface:Serial2/0:0.24
when the MPLS feature has been enabled on
the main interface or one of its subinterfaces:Serial2/0:0.2
It used to work in 12.2, but after upgrade to 12.3.5b it's not.
I didn't find anything in the documentation about this problem.
    Any help is appreciated.

The combination of these two features is unsupported and has caused problems in the past. A check has been implemented by CSCdz75507, which will prevent the configuration of "bridge-group" if MPLS is configured or vice versa.
    Hope this helps,

  • MPLS and Bridging over separate ATM PVCs

We have one physical ATM Interface on Cisco 3660 Router (IOS Enterprise 12.2.19) and we like to use bridging on one ATM PVC und MPLS (tag-switching) on another ATM PVC. But we always get an error message.
Did anybody knew whether bridging and mpls is supported at one ATM Interface although we use separate PVCs ?
    Thanks for your help

The configuration of using mixed mpls/bridged sub-interfaces under the same main interface isn't supported.

  • I am interested in using Bridge as an asset management tool over a intranet network, is this possible?

I'm working with a client that has an intranet and CS6 and would like to use Bridge to manage our digital assets. Can multiple computers use bridge effectively over a network?

Bridge is not designed for use over a network nor is it official supported by Adobe for that matter.
The application itself uses its data written to the user library for one computer. Some people have managed with great care and knowledge to let it function over a network but I think as soon as you let people write data them selfs from different workstations things pretty soon get bad due to not having this data available to other users.

  • Image processor from Bridge problem

ONe of most annoying things with Bridge is that often, image processor wont open from Bridge -- unless you quit out and relaunch Bridge -- quite a hassle.

You are absolutely correct. In order to pass selected images in bridge over to photoshop, you need to invoke IP from within Bridge. I didn't make that connection from your earlier post.
So your original request makes sense. Personally, I would rather see an improvement in Image Processor (as well as the Batch dialog) that allowed one to specify the source as "Bridge".
In photoshop 7, in the batch dialog, you could specify the source of the files to be batched as "Open Files", "folder", or "File Browser". If you choose File Browser, the batch action will be performed on files selected within FB.
In CS2, in the batch dialog, you can see Bridge as an option, but it's grayed out. You can only invoke the Batch operation on files selected in Bridge from within Bridge - a serious shortcoming.
The same theme holds true for Image Processor, and indeed, it looks like most of the scripts behave that way.
So rather than have a shortcut, I would like, as I say, the ability to specify bridge as a source in the dialog boxes for the image processor and batch dialogs.

  • Photoshop CC 2014   Bridge CC: automated tasks missing

I Have downloaded the new Photoshop CC 2014 and updated to Bridge CC. • Bridge CS5 applies wrong white balance during thumbnail extraction (raw files only)

    Hello to all Adobe Wizards,
Hobbiest photographer here. I use a Canon T2i and I have been shooting raw with auto white balance.
After I upload the CR2 files to Bridge, Bridge begins thumbnail extraction. This is when the problem begins: I watch Bridge extracting thumbnail photo after photo, turning them into wrong white balance one by one. After Bridge is done, I open one of these photos in Camera Raw, it shows the photo in "custom white balance". I was able to change it back to "As Shot". But every photo in Bridge now has custom white balance and is difficult to view in Bridge. This screenshot shows what my Bridge looks like after thumbnail extraction....
Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I took some photos with different white balance settings on the camera. I uploaded them to Bridge and Bridge over-wrote all the white balance settings. I then imported the same photos (from the same files) to iPhoto, they show up with correct write balance. Please see the second screenshot.
The third screenshot shows a unedited photo I opened from Bridge to Camera Raw, and the same photo as it appears in iPhoto, both unedited.
Again, this only happens to CR2 files. All tif, jpeg files are fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    -Wolfie

    Any ideas?
First of all, shooting Raw has the benefit of changing the color temperature (Whit Balance) to what ever you like from whatever you shot in camera.
To me it seems you once have saved a custom white balance as default setting and this is been applied to every new file because you told Bridge to do so. The easiest way to get out of this is open a raw file in ACR and in the basic tab at the right side you see a small icon for sub menu (next to the word basic). Click on it and from the row choose 'Reset Camera Raw defaults' at the bottom.
Also decide whether you want to stay in 16 bit mode (as you are now as shown in the blue line under the preview). If you want to chance it back to 8 bit just click on that blue line and choose your options from that menu. You only have to do this once for the files from that same camera, ACR remembers the settings for you.
Using 16 bit mode has advantages when using critical color corrections (but then you also should change the color mode to ProPhoto in my opinion). The disadvantage is that 16 bit doubles the file size compared to 8 bit
Having set the ACR defaults should effect your thumbs immediately by building new thumbs and previews but if not you must choose purge cache for folder from the menu tools / cache/ purge cache for folder. Now the new settings will be applied.
It may take some time so let Bridge do its work properly before starting other jobs in Bridge (see the activity bar bottom left to check if Bridge is still caching).
