Broadband connection with one static ip

Hello Everyone!!
I would like to seek your kind suggestion in mapping static ip address to the local ip address.
We have a bsnl broadband connection, and bsnl has provided us with one static ip address.
We are using  broadband modem.
Now I would liket to map this static ip address to one of the private ip address which is 192.168.1.2(database server).
i want to do nat above ips if i do so then i dont have no ip to assign to my outside interface.
I would like to access this device over internet, by typing my public (Static ip ) given by the BSNL.
Kindly let me know how should i configure this modem.
security device i have is cisco ASA 5505.
Need suggestion.
thanks in advance

Hi,
I am afraid that if you are asking for guide to configuring your broadband modem then this is probably not the best section of the Cisco Support Community to do that.
Generall though it would be best if the modem you have was configured as Bridged device and the public IP address was configured on the ASA5505 directly on its "outside" interface. This saves you from a lot of trouble playing with possible NAT configurations on 2 devices.
On the ASA5505 you will basicly be configuring Static PAT and NOT Static NAT.
Static NAT would bind the public IP address to the use of only single internal host.
Static PAT on the other hand would bind certain TCP/UDP ports to some internal host.
So naturally we should first determine which ports you need to forward to the internal host and also what the software level of your ASA5505 is so we know which NAT configuration format to use (version number is shown with the command "show version" or in the  main view of the ASDM)
NAT/ACL 8.2 (and older) Configuration format
static (inside,outside) tcp interface 80 192.168.1.2 80 netmask 255.255.255.255
access-list OUTSIDE-IN permit tcp any interface outside eq 80
access-group OUTSIDE-IN in interface outside
In the above configuration we first use the "static" command to configure the Static PAT. The configuration basicly states that we want to forward the TCP/80 port using the "outside" "interface" IP address to the local IP address of 192.168.1.2 and local port of TCP/80.
Finally we make an ACL that allows TCP/80 traffic from anywhere and we attach the ACL to the "outside" interface with "access-group" command. If there is an existing ACL attached to the "outside" interface then you would naturally use that.
NAT/ACL 8.3 (and newer) Configuration Format
object network SERVER-WWW
host 192.168.1.2
nat (inside, outside) static interface service tcp 80 80
access-list OUTSIDE-IN permit tcp any object SERVER-WWW eq 80
access-group OUTSIDE-IN in interface outside
The above basicly does the same as the first example with the older ASA software. There are just noticiable changes in the NAT and ACL configuration formats.
Hope this helps

how many apple tv can I connect with one account?

there are 2 recent posts that suggest issues over 5, one where someone was trying to troubleshoot for a friend or client as they couldn't keep more than 5 connected, and the other where somone had more than 5 but was using 2 separate itunes libraries to share the load - not sure if that was with the same or differing AppleIDs.
I guess there is always the possibility that things kight vary from one itunes version to the next even unintentionally to allow more.

  • Dynamic select list with one static 'not_listed" option

    Hi guys,
I want to create a dynamic select list with one static 'not_listed' option.
One possible alternative is to add the 'not_listed' record into database, but I really dont want to go that way unless there is no other way around.
Can anyone shed some lights on this?
    Many thanks,
    William

    As usual : "It depends"...
If you have a foreign key defined on that field, Scott's reply won't work - unless you define '0 - Not listed' in the database. You can use selec 'not listed' d, to_number(null) r from dual though...
Another - more declarative way - is in the on 'Edit Page Item' page, in the 'List of Values' region set 'Display Null' to 'Yes' and 'Null Display Value' to ' - Not listed - '.

  • Using multiple laptops and AirTunes with one static IP

I just moved into a place that requires a static IP they provided me. After much tinkering, I finally got the Airport Express to work so that I could get online using my Powerbook. However, whenever I'm on the internet (Airport set NOT to distribute IP addresses), I can't use AirTunes. The moment I change that (whether it's using Airport Admin Utility or changing Network Settings on the Powerbook) and I am able to get online again, AirTunes quits and iTunes can't seem to find the remote speakers again.
I can't even use these both at the same time, and I would eventually like to use AirTunes at the same time as the internet AND be able to connect wirelessly to the internet using my PC laptop. Before moving into the apartment with the static IP, this was possible.
I keep reading about port mapping - perhaps that is the answer? Problem is, I have no idea what that is. Can somebody please explain why this is happening and offer a solution?

    a) WEP WPA password, ive never set one up for the airport, where do i find out what this password is for my PC?
You will set up wireless security (WEP or WPA) on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)..using the AirPort Admin Utility, which is part of AirPort for Windows.
    b) Everytime I run the Airport Express Assistant it gives me an error message saying "Windows is not the current network manager...please change Windows to the default", I dont know why I get this error and I assume windows is the one managing the networks I use.
Your PC has wireless capability...correct? The AirPort Setup Assistant requires a wireless connection to the AX.
    c) I can connect to the airport through windows, but when in the Airport Management Utility it does not detect the Airport
Connect your PC directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then run the AirPort Admin Utility to configure it.
    d) After all this, will Windows and iTunes allow you to stream music thru the Airport Express, like it does on my mac with itunes???
Yes, you will be able to stream iTunes from your PC to the AX, either wired or wirelessly.

  • Why won't my atv2 connect with a static address

    Hello,
Suddenly, my ATV2 will not connect to the net with a static address.  I even did a restore hoping it would help.  When I log into the router,  i cannot see the atv2 unless I allow a dhcp address.  We're not talking rocket science:
I have an airport extreme with the mac address entered on the allow list (which isnt relavent if the router can only see it through dhcp)
    192.169.0.25  preferred static address
    255.255.255.0 subnet
    192.168.0.1 dns
    192.168.0.1 router address
i get the same results wired or wifi.
Nothing has changed in my configurations but alas I turned on my ATV2 to discover it was not connecting to my network as before.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

    192.169.0.25  preferred static address
    255.255.255.0 subnet
    192.168.0.1 dns
    192.168.0.1 router address
i get the same results wired or wifi.
Did you mean to write 192.169.0.25??
The router is on 192.168.0.1, that would mean your ATV is on a different subnet to your router.
ATV's IP address should be 192.168.0.25 instead, so they are on the same subnet.

  • Booted off Broadband connection with new WRT54g Wireless Router

I recently moved to a new place with Comcast Broadband.  My boyfriend and I both want to access the Internet so we got a Linksys Wireless Router to connect our computers to the broadband connection.  It's not going very well, however, because almost daily we are booted off the Internet.  I called Comcast and they said the Modem is working fine, which just leaves the Router.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Patricia

How did Comcast determined that your modem is working fine? When you are connected directly to modem , do you have the same problem? because if you do, then it would have the same problem with the router, no matter what you do with the router. Try isolating problem by checking if the connection would drop when you are connected directly to modem.
If through isolation process you found out that modem is stable, there might be a problem with router itself or that the router isn't properly configured, is your computer wired or wireless? how about your boyfriend's?

  • Why does facetime hang up when i connect with one certain person

    help me!!!!!!!

That would not be an OS X or iMac issue if the problem is only with one other person. That points the finger at an Internet connection issue that must be solved by an ISP, my guess is the other person has a slow or problem Internet connection that needs troubleshooting.

  • HT1595 BT Home Hub1 drops broadband connection with Apple TV 3

    Hi.
Just got Apple TV3 home and set up which was easy to start, but as soon as I try to homeshare my BT broadband connection drops and needs reset - using home hub 1. Is there a settings fix or is a new router the only option?
    Thanks,
    Col.

    Hi.
Have checked my firmware which is up to date and have also disabled my firewall to check if it was creating problems but no change. BT channel change not helped yet but could take 12 hours to activate. Broadband works perfectly until I attempt to open any Apple TV application then it drops. Also I mistakenly quoted I have Home Hub 1 but I actually have HH2. Channel change might help but tbh I don't hold out much hope.

  • Bandwidth problem connecting with one person on my buddy list

I'm connected to the web via cable modem, which is connected to an Apple Extreme Base Station. I was able to video chat with my brother-in-law in LA who is connecting via DSL. Recently we can't video chat. Nothing seems to have been changed in either of our settings and we can both connect with others that we share in common in our Buddy list.
All we get now is the Not enough Bandwidth error. Any ideas why this is happening?

Error 22 will be the Quicktime setting, the Bandwidth setting in iChat or something the ISP is doing top the Connection speed.
Reinstalling Leopard for just that is not likely to change anything.

  • Lack of broadband connection with Extra Box

Hi all Requiring some technical assistance/advice really. I have recently had installed Youview box and BT HomeHub 5 in our lounge as Infinity has finally reached our area. All is fine. My old Sky+ box in the kitchen stopped working over the weekend, so I thought I could purchase a Youview Extra Box to replace it, as I am quite happy with Youview. However, there is no hub in the kitchen (it's in the lounge), so I can't plug Ethernet cable in. Wi-fi won't stretch that far. I can't feasibly run a cable from lounge to kitchen as it's too far and would be very unsightly. I looked at the various plug-in BT Home Hotspot kits, but they imply that you need to be on the same ring main/electrical circuit to work - which I don't believe my kitchen & lounge are (separate fuseboxes) So, in a nutshell, what can I do? If I simply connect the extra Youview box to the TV in the kitchen then I can still use the record, live pause and playback features without being connected to the internet? I am happy to forego the connectivity features eg iPlayer, film libraries etc on this set. Or is the Youview simply defunct if you don't connect to a Hub? Help gratefully received!

Powerline adapter and similar devices, communicate over your mains wiring using radio frequencies.
These frequencies will not pass through your electricity meter to the external electricity distribution network.
As both your feeds come from the same meter, it is possible that these types of adapters may work, with a reduced speed, depending on the lengths of the cables.
If you could borrow a pair to try, then I think it would be worthwhile. Some types may work better than others.
I have a pair of TP-Link ones feeding a wireless access point in the garage at the end of the garden, and that is on a separate fuse box.

  • Limited number of Bluetooth connections with one given iPhone?

    Hi all,
As a car fleet manager with a car manufacturer, I routinely switch cars. I sometimes drive several cars on any given day, and until recently, I hadn't had any problem connecting to the Navi system on the cars I drive. Two days ago, I tried to pair my iPhone with the Navi system in a new car, was prompted to enter a PIN, did so, and never managed to connect. I've reset all network settings on my phone, turned Bluetooth on and off, both on the phone and the Navi system, to no avail. I've erased all mentions of previous phones being paired with this company car, still a no-go. The brand is Nissan, by the way, and it's the first time I've encountered such a problem. Pairing is usually a breeze, not so this time.
    Any ideas?

I don't know this for a fact, but I would think more than one, because when my phone is connected to my handsfree in the car, it is still searching for other devices... so it's still "available"

  • Time Capsule woes -- Connection timeouts and can't connect with one Macbook

This is my second Time Capsule. Here's the scenario:
I have a Netopia 3347 DSL modem. That feeds into the Time Capsule in bridge mode. There is a MacBook (metal case), iBook (yes, it's old), two iphones, a color printer and an iPad that can all connect to the Time Capsule just fine. The problem is my MacBook can't connect. The offending computer is a 2.2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo running SL 10.6.6. This computer can connect to the Netopia just fine, so I know its internal Airport works. After several go arounds with Apple tech support, I'm still nowhere.
    Here are the symptoms:
    1. I can see the TC's network SSID in the airport pull down menu. If I select the TC, a popup appears and asks for a password. If I enter the password, I'll get a connection timeout error.
    2. On the rare occasions where it does connect, I can't open a webpage. Network diagnostics has red dots for ISP Internet and Server
    3. On the even rarer occasions where it does connect, and I can access a webpage, it's unbearably slow, and the no-surf problem reappears after a few seconds. The red dots on the Network Diagnostics reappear.
Apple tech support was not helpful. I've power cycled everything a million times (and that doesn't explain why other computers can connect.) I know it's not my computer, because it can connect to the Netopia just fine.
    I am STUMPED.

Magnificent! Problem solved...   Isn't there a "this solved my problem" button somewhere??  Thanks and thanks again!

  • ODBC Connection with one to many results

Hi there - I have followed Stefan Cameron's excellent blogs on linking livecycle forms to data from an odbc connection however I have now become stuck.
Effectively I have a form that populates part of the form with matching data for a specific id, however I then need to populate a different part of the form from another database connection that holds multiple records for that id.
I have successfully completed the first part (YEAY!) however the second bit I cannot do - I have tried using the xfa.sourceSet.dataconnection.next() however this repeats the same data and doesn't seem to want to get the next record.
What I seem to need is a mix of Stefan's "selecting specific records" (which works great for the first bit) then the retrieving ALL records bit from here
    http://forms.stefcameron.com/2006/10/12/displaying-all-records-from-an-odbc-data-connectio n/
but only where the relation matches the first section.
Does anyone have any ideas - I'm sorry if I am not being very clear - I can post more detail if needed.
    Regards,
    Bev.

Thanks Paul - I already have two data connections as there are two different result sets I am working on
To clairfy - the first data connection retrieves grant id, title name and address of all grants
The second data connection then retrieves financial data for all projects related to those grants
There are several records of financial data per grant.
So the first bit of code retireves all relevant data for the grant selected.
    xfa.sourceSet.claimdata.#command.query.select = concat("SELECT grt_title, grt_contact, grt_org, grt_addr, grt_post FROM gs_user_claim_pdf_table WHERE grt_id = ",sGrtId, ";")
    xfa.sourceSet.claimdata.open()
    xfa.sourceSet.claimdata.first()
    This bit works fine
The second bit is only working for the first record it finds - what I need to do is to loop through all the results and populate a repeating subform with the relevant results but I just don't know how!
    xfa.sourceSet.subproject.#command.query.commandType = "text"
    xfa.sourceSet.subproject.#command.query.select = concat("SELECT sub_prj_title,claim_amt,tot_est_cost,unit_type,total_units,funded_by,exp_type,grt_id,prj_ id FROM gs_user_sub_proj_table WHERE grt_id = ", sGrtId, ";")
    xfa.sourceSet.subproject.open()
    xfa.sourceSet.subproject.first()
    _subprojects.addInstance(1)
    xfa.sourceSet.subproject.next()
    Any pointers gratefully received!

  • Ichat won't connect with one computer; others fine

I was able to video iChat with my parents (new intel iMac, X.5.2) with no problems previously. Now, we cannot video or audio chat. The interesting thing is that I can video chat with others and my parents can video chat with others, just not with each other. We were even able to video chat via a 3-way chat a few days ago that a third party initiated and invited us both in. But if we try to chat with each other, no connection. IMing works, but that is it. I have checked that no users are blocked on both computers. Since both computers have internet access and iChat capability with other computers, I don't think it has to do with firewalls!?! Both computers use WideOpenWest cable as their ISP. Another user that my parents can iChat with is also a WideOpenWest customer. Weird! Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hi
First have you all set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps(
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to 500.
    Restart iChat.
