Broadcaster - burst to Portal?

Hi all,
When using the Information Broadcaster one can use the option 'Broadcast by E-mail (Bursting)'.
Nice feature here is that you can filter the documents by a characteristic value (e.g. Vendor nr) so each recipient receives the document filtered with his/her own data.
Would anyone know if this kind of 'bursting' can be used to Broadcast documents onto the Portal? (with or without a workaround)
I have a requirement where a query needs to run for, let's say, 100 vendors, and each vendor gets an html file (filename = vendornr + timstamp) in the Portal (to be used by an external webapplication). Broadcast by E-mail is no option for this client unfortunately.
As you will understand I don't like creating broadcast settings for each vendor separately.

If you maintain one 'broadcast to portal' type setting, then use the attribute information of the characteristic you would use in the standard email bursting functionality, you can write an ABAP program that calls
RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER to output the above based on the information.
Within the program
You simply have to change a couple of the fields for the portal variant which is stored in table
RSRD_SETT_NODE_A (e.g. filename - DI_FILENAME)
You would want to change the query variant's value to change the filter value. To do this, you may dynamically generate a variant for each vendor, or you can create one query variant manually, loop through each vendor and change the value of the characteristic (e.g. from RUN1vendor = 1, RUN2 vednor - 2) in the variant dynamically, before executing the broadcast again.

Broadcasting - Bursting - changing format of pdf

We have set up Broadcasting (bursting) by e-mail, sending a pdf to a named person for each Trading Partner. The document that each user receives shows just the data for that Trading Partner. This part works fine.
HOWEVER, I have been unable to change the output format to anything other than the 2 Portal Themes ('Standard SAP' and 'Black and White') given as options on the 'General Precalculation' tab.
I have created 2 new web templates, based on 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE and 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70
And in SPRO I have 'Set Standard Web templates (non-BW3.x)' and set the 1st copy template as the default in 'Broadcasting' and the 2nd as the default in 'Query precalculation'.
The new templates are based on a bright green stylesheet, and this stylesheet works as expected when applied 'directly' to a query run on the web. The new stylesheet was uploaded to the Customer > Stylesheets directory through SO2_MIME_REPOSITORY
We cleared cache (with SMICM) and bounced the J2EE Engine.
I installed the current version of Adobe Reader on my PC. (Is it possible that an old version of Adobe on the server could be the problem?)
I am only using the Portal for access to Broadcaster, by the way, we are not broadcasting TO the portal.
But guess what, not a shade of green to be seen anywhere. Just further loss of my hair. Grrrrr
Can anyone help? We have recently upgraded to 2004S.

Any idea whether SAP are considering improving this so people CAN customise the pdf output?
And when I tried using the HTML output I got an error message saying 'The Web template "ZQUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70" does not exist in the master system'. It certainly EXISTS, I can open it, but what does it mean by the 'master system', do you know? The message number, RSBOLAP013 doesn't come up in SAP Notes.

Use Broadcasting bursting functionality for 1:n assignment

Dear all,
I want to use the bursting functionality of the Bex Broadcaster in order to send a Sales report to each Region Sales Manager for his sales region.
Due to the fact that in my case a sales region can have several Regional Manager, it it not possible to use the Master Data of Sales region for the recipient determination within the Bursting setting, because in the MD I can just assign one person to each Sales region.
Is there another way to broadcast/burst a Sales report to several resp. for each sales region?
The BI version is 7.0. Any help would be great. thank you in advance.

Hi,
You have to assign related Regional Sales Manager Emp. Codes to "Sales Region" codes in "Maintain Master data".
If it is done, then you can simply broadcast to "Sales Region" which internally works for Regional Sales Manager.

Broadcasting to Enterprise Portal using Bex Broadcaster from Query Designer

I have already been able to broadcast from Query Designer using BEx Broadcaster to the portal based on a role or a user.
I select "Export into Enterprise Portal" as the Distribution Type.
I then select "Export Document to Personal Portfolio" and then enter a role.
Then I check "User-specific" because I want it to be user specific.
This all works fine.
Now I get to my question.
Can I go one step further and broadcast to a folder call... lets say "Sales" inside of their Personal Portfolio?

Are your precal server setting are ok? Check the settings for the pre calcualtion server once.

Broadcasting - Bursting - workbooks - 2004S

Having tried Bursting with pdf format, and found its not possible (apart from using the very basic format options), I moved on to trying to get it to work with workbooks...
BIG question: has ANYONE managed to get bursting to work with workbooks, is it POSSIBLE? We are on SP10, 2004S, and I am working through a portal to set up the Broadcasting (but not sending TO the portal).
The impossible challenge appears to be getting the all the following fields to be filled, as some appear mutually exclusive, and yet the tool seems to need them all.
The basic area of difficulty is 'Recipient Determination':
1. In order for the 'Attribute for Recipient Determination' to offer a valid option it is necessary to first select a Characteristic (Company in my case)
2. But Selecting Company excludes selection of a Variable, and without the variable the query runs for several Companies, and so Broadcaster doesn't know which person to email the workbook to.
3. USUALLY, clicking Change (against 'By Following Selection') results in a an error - clicking straight after choosing Company usually avoids the error.
The error that always seems to ocurr in the end is 'Characteristic values for recipient determination are not filtered'
Any ideas? Any help much appreciated....

If you ask for the possibility for bursting workbook out, yes it's possible.

Information Broadcasting / Bursting based on hierarchy

Hi Gurus,
Please help me out! I am stuck with the following scenario.
I have a hierarchy based on Cost Center. Each cost center is assigned to a employee ID.
I need to distribute the reports based on cost center hierarchy. There are 4 levels in the cost center hierarchy.
The cost center master data is loaded into a cube on which a query is built.
Level 4 - should get the query for the cost center assigned to him.
Level 3 - should get the query for the cost center assigned to him as well as the cost center for those in level 4 under him.
similarly level 2 and level1.
So, each user should get the data pertaining to his cost center as well as the cost centers of the users below him in the hierachy.
I have to broadcast in such a way that the users get the reports based on the above. Now, if I choose broadcasting, I have to create a setting for each user (I am looking at 300 users, so 300 settings).
Can broadcasting via bursting solve this issue? If yes, please explain how to do achieve this.

So, each user should get the data pertaining to his cost center as well as the cost centers of the users below him in the hierachy.
If I got your Question Properly.
First, You need to Assign the Hierarchies at ROLES/AUTHORIZATION PROFILES at PFCG for the Query. You can Restrict the same too.
Then, you can Broadcast the same to different users.

Bex Broadcasting without separate portal

Dear collegues,
we are on the way of implementing of BexBroacasting with E-mail
distribution of BI content. We do not have a separate SAP portal for
that. SAP support said that we can apply BexBroacasting service that is also available
via ICM link: http://hostname:8000/sap/bw/bex?cmd=start_broadcaster70.
But they didn't answer how we can link that path to the BexBroacasting button in Bex Analayzer?
Any useful information would by highly appreciated!

Broadcasting in BI 7.x - Do I need Portal, Missing Distribution Types

Hi,
     I'm looking into getting Broadcasting up and running. Errors abound of course. Could someone help with these questions?
1. Do I need Portal to do email broadcasting of HTML/MHTML?
I was under the impression I only needed precalc server for workbooks.
Someone in earlier discussion said I did need server. If you could point me to documentation
that mentions I need it to simply send HTML/MHTL reports it would be greatly appreciated.
2. I only see "Broadcast Email" and "Broadcast to Portal" as available Distribution Types when setting up a Broadcast.
What do I need to see the additional types as listed in the documentation?
○       Broadcast by E-Mail
○       Broadcast to the Portal
○       Printing
○       Broadcast by E-mail (Bursting)
○       Broadcast by Exception
○       Distribution Over Multiple Channels

Transport KM rooms as entry point for broadcasting from Portal 7.01 to Portal 7.4 possible?

Hallo together,
is it possible to transport entry points (for broadcasting) from one portal to another?
For our upgrade BW 7.01 to BW 7.4 we want to transport the KM Content (including the rooms).
Transporting the rooms and room structures is no problem, but the transported rooms are not visible in ENTRY POINTS -> My Room Folders.
Only rooms that are newly created in the 7.4 Portal are visible in that folder.
Is there are way to make the transported rooms also visible there?

I know that WP-PI 6.00 will work fine with R/3 4.6C but my doubt is if I can use WP-PI 6.00 (which is
EP 6.00 plug-in) to connect the R/3 4.6c with an EP 7.00.
I didn´t find anything like WP-PI 7.00 in SAP Marketplace. I´ve already read the note you pointed out but it refers to EP 6.00. It also says you can use WP-PI 6.00 por EP 5.0 or Sap Workplace. But can I also use it with EP 7.00?

Export to Portal via Broadcaster missing folders

I am using the Broadcaster option 'Export to Portal'. From the portal, I do the following:
1. Select Business Intelligence > BEx Broadcaster
2. I select my Web template
3. I select Distribution Type = 'Broadcast to the Portal'
4. For output format, I select 'HTML'.
5. In the 'Target in Portal' tab, I select 'Export Document to other Folder'. The only two folders that I have a choice to select from are 'CM Repository View' and 'Collaboration Room'.
Does any one have any idea as to why the folders that I created in the portal do not show up in this list? I have the super admin role assigned to my user.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a role assigned to the folder and that role is assigned to my userid.
The input help for selecting the KM folder uses this iView com.sap.ip.bi.portalnavigation.folderselection
When I create my folders, do I need to set some property so that the folders are included in 'com.sap.ip.bi.portalnavigation.folderselection'

Logical filename in broadcasting

Hi everyone,
We want to use the bursting functionality to broadcast a report to the portal. We'll split the result to profit center so each profit center gets a seperate pdf document. Now a few hundred pdf files get created but it's unclear which file containts data for which profit center (without opening each file). Is there a way to add the profit center to the filename of the pdf document created? We've lookad at the variable on filename creation but these are not sufficient.

I've found a discussion between SAP dev and another customer... where dev refers to the following...
Filename: (Mandatory) this name is used for the directory name. This
name is also the technical name of the directory in the database. The
query_name/tempalate name is taken as default.
"Display Name: If provided, replaces the Filename for user display on
the portal.
If a control query is used (which may generate multiple files), then
the end files are names based on query_name/tempalate name + index."
Do you have the option of a display name?

BEx Broadcasting Error

Hi,
We are having trouble executing BEx broadcasting on our portal. We are using NW04s SPS11. The problem we are having is with the out-of-the-box iView for the BEx broadcaster. After we select a workbook to broadcast and enter the required settings information and click execute, we get an error message. The error states:
An Active RFC Server could not be found.
Error occurred during processing of framework class CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_EXCEL, type PROD.
I've checked the system landscape and the connection to the ABAP BI system tests out ok. The ABAP BI system is also showing up in the SLD. I've also seen a couple notes that say this is a build error and is fixed in service packs, but we are way beyond that service pack (currently on SPS11).
Any suggestions?

Broadcast report for publishing to a file server

Hello,
I have a report that shows information per employee. This report has to be automatically refreshed on a monthly basis and must generate one pdf file per employee number.
I've developped the report on Report Designer and now I would like to publish it to the broadcaster.
I have then 2 issues:
- Why don't I see an option in the broadcaster to save my report into a file server ? Which option shall I activate to see that ?
- Is the pdf file name customizable ? How can I do to specify that the file name must be the employee number ? (the number I mean is the employee unique ID).

Hi,
Broadcasting the report to the Portal is like saving the report in the server.SO you can use "Broadcast to the Portal" as Distribution Type and broadcast it.
The name of the PDF is customizable with only the predefined set of entries,which you can able to see,when you click the Value Help of it.

Java error when Broadcasting

Hi,
I'm having some trouble when I try to broadcast some reports, I get the following error when I check the log on the transaction RSRD_ADMIN: "Java: Exception in method processFunction."
Does anyone know what this is and how to overcome it?
