Broadcasting - Precalculation fails - Automation error

We are using precalculation service for broadcasting workbooks. We are on Netweaver 2004s (7.0), and SAP GUI 710 (patch 801). We installed the according precalculation service on a different computer (windows XP). The service showed green light in our BI system. I followed notes 929799 to update the HOSTS file. Also followed the how to guide - "https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012003146900000085752006E/HowtoInformationBroadcasting.pdf" Still I got below error:
"Registration to gbs/sapgw00 failed. Automation error. The specified module could not be found."
Any helps on this would be appreciated.

Kelly,
Would you be able to provide more detail on the issue.
Were all installation guide steps followed, including the Excel steps?
Are there any additional log or error messages you can provide?
Does the server name that is green match the name where precalc service is installed?
Are there any messages in the precalc front end log?
Thanks
PJ

  • Pre-calulation of works books errors : Precalculation failed: E Path

    Hello,
I have been trying to test our pre-calucation server (Which has been new installed) and for testing I have created two workbook one in the 3x version and the other 7.0 version. I have run into the following issues:
    1. In Tcode RSPRECADMIN I chose test of pre-calculation. Here is where the problems start
    a) When I do an F4 on Workbook entry I only see 3x version workbook and not the 7.0 version which is
           wierd !
    b) On choosing the 3x version and hitting execute I recieve an empty workbook.
    2. On trying to execute precalucation service using the broadcaster on the web the service fails for both the
workbooks with the following error messages (same in SLG1 too) :
"Precalculation failed: E  Path cannot be null. Parameter name: path"
I have gone through a lot of posts and a couple of people have had the same issue but have no information on  a definitve fix.
If anyone had the same issue and were able to resolve the same; your advice would be greatly appreciatedhare your information.
    Thx,
    Karthik

I finally fixed it. I did a fresh installation on an windows XP machine and installed the 710 gui (patch level 601) and the pre-calc server.
On which the old error went away and I got a new error on broadcasting 7.0 workbooks (3x ones were successfull) :

The problem was witht the bex analyser - On opening it the pre-calc server I noticed that the bex toolbar buttons were not responding (open, save etc). Found a note which talked about identical symptons and on following the note fixed the bug. After which was able to broadcast workbooks successfully.

    Hope this information helps someone.

  • Automator "Send Outgoing Messages" Workflow Failed - 1 error

    Hello,
In my hunt to be able to send a personalised templated e-mail to multiple recipents using Mac Mail, I came accross the automator feature. I've tinkered around with it but can't seem to generate the final action of sending.
    1) New Mail Message (all fields have data as I read in another thread that this might generate errors.)
    2) Get Specified Address Book Items
    3) Group Mailer
    4) Send Outgoing Messages (this is where I get a Workflow failed - 1 error)
Steps 1-3 have green tick marks, Step 4 has the error.
Can anyone point out where I might be going wrong?
    I'm using 10.7.2

    Anyone?????

  • Time Machine backups to OS X Server intermittently failing with error 21

I have a Mac Mini running OS X Server, with two USB drives connected and selected within OS X Server as Time Machine backup destinations.  I have an iMac and a Macbook Air, both of which  are using Time Machine to backup themselves up to the Time Machine Service on the server (all are running the latest version of Mavericks).
Intermittently, the iMac backup fails.  The iMac's console log shows:
    Aug 23 13:55:34 Nigels-iMac.local com.apple.backupd[15418]: Failed to eject volume /Volumes/Backups-1 (FSVolumeRefNum: -141; status: -47; dissenting pid: 0)

    Aug 23 13:58:16 Nigels-iMac.local com.apple.backupd[15418]: Failed to eject volume /Volumes/Backups-1 (FSVolumeRefNum: -141; status: -47; dissenting pid: 0)
    Aug 23 13:58:16 Nigels-iMac.local com.apple.backupd[15418]: Giving up after 3 retries.
    Aug 23 13:58:16 Nigels-iMac.local com.apple.backupd[15418]: Backup failed with error 21: 21
The Mac Mini console log shows nothing apparently wrong.
Restarting the server (not the iMac) clears the problem and the iMac will then once again backup to the server for some time (e.g. a day).
There are two USB drives, one for each backup sparse bundle and although the two disks have different names in the Finder, OS X Server has named them both Backup (one is shown as 'Backup' and the other as 'Backup-1' in the Time Machine Services Backups tab).
I am wondering whether the failure occurs when coincidentally the iMac and the Macbook both try to back up at the same moment.  Any advice about how to isolate the problem, or a solution would be gratefully received!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test, to be carried out on the server. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Automation Error for Single Threaded ActiveX on Windows 7

    Hi All,
I have an old activex control embedded to SAP GUI (using CL_GUI_CONTROL) running without problem for years on Windows XP.
When I try to run this control using the same SAP GUI version and patch level on Windows 7, the SAP GUI is not responding/crash.
After deep investigation, I find that every activex with threading model - single threaded, failed to run on SAP GUI on Windows 7. While this single threaded control run without problem on Windows XP.
I have tried to upgrade the SAP GUI to the latest version & patch (720 patch level 8), the same result occures. The control successfully embedded to SAP GUI 720 on Windows XP, but not on Windows 7.
I also have verified the single threaded control can run on Windows 7 without problem by embedding the control to other software like Ms. Exce or Ms. IE, and run it successfully on Windows 7.
Does any one experienced in this issue? or can anyone try to create a simple activex control with single threaded and run it successfully from SAP GUI on Windows 7?
Below is a sample of ABAP program that I use to embedded the activeX control, and the SAP GUI trace log.
If needed I can send you the sample activex control (how to attach files?) and step by step to reproduce the error.
Please advice, is this an SAP GUI issue?
    Thank you.

  • V4.2 Errors - Optimize and Save App - ClearCache and Automation Errors

    Hello everyone,
I have a client on v4.2 that is getting multiple errors when they do anything in Admin.
When they do a full optimize they're seeing:
'Administration and Security - ClearCache Method '' of object '' failed.'
When they do a save of their application they get:
'Administration and Security - SaveApplicationInfo Automation Error, the object invoked has disconnected from its clients'.
    Thoughts anyone?
    Thank you,
    Grant

    Hi Grant,
First, I think you need to focus on the Save application issue, as I am quite sure that, once resolved, you will have more visibility on your Optimization error.
Both errors seem to be related to OLAP. Then, I would first try to stop and restart Analysis Services and then try to process the cube (or cubes, if it impacts multiple applications in your customer's application set) directly in Analysis Services and see if it finishes successfully. If yes, please try to save your application from eAdmin.
    Best regards,
    Julien

  • Error: Automation Error while creating a new app

    Hello Experts,
Have installed FDM on one of our servers and trying to create a new application.

Check the path of the application and if its installed on server,pl check whether you have access to that path.
    If not get full access.

  • HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

When I tried to update my iPad I got an error 9. Now, I am unable to access my iPad. It is in a continuous cycle when I try to update or restore the iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.
    Here's the cycle:
I plug in my iPad when “cable to iTunes shows on iPad screen. It says "Your iPad can't be updated, you must restore it to factory settings." That bad enough news, but it gets worse.
    Click Restore
    Extracting software…
    Preparing iPad for restore
    Waiting for iPad…
    Verifying iPad restore with Apple…
(empty bar under the Apple logo…does not show any activity)
“The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).”
Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello jaybearden,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • There was a problem updating InDesign CC For more information see the specific error below.  Update Failed Download error.  Press Retry to try again or contact customer support.(49)

Posted the entire text from the error window, when trying to update, using the normal NON-TECHIE way to update any and all Adobe CC products, via the Creative Cloud updater installed when Adobe Creative Cloud subscription was purchased when first offered.
    The following occurs, ad nauseam:
There was a problem updating InDesign CC
For more information see the specific error below.
    Update Failed
Download error.  Press Retry to try again or contact customer support.(49)
Here's the crux of my frustration:
    (1) Customer Service is NOT contact-able, to receive LIVE help.
    (2) There is NO way for me to mitigate this "Download error", being a student learning InDesign, and NOT in any way capable of tweaking folders/files here and there.
    Therefore, the real question:
Given that a significant number of subscribers are having the above referenced issue with attempting to download the current update for InDesign, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO, in order to get our contractually paid-for updates to our legally and contractually paid-for Adobe software, specifically in my case, InDesgin's current update?
Please, NO TECHNICAL mumbo-jumbo which most likely will cause the overwhelming majority of users, like me, to seriously corrupt their computer files, but rather an honest, straightforward "what to do" from real CS/Engineers working for Adobe, as to how to FIX this issue, period.
    ===========================================================
    UPDATE:
Here is a way in which I think I was able to "update" my InDesign CC application:
    (1) Sign-In to your Adobe Account
    https://www.adobe.com/
    (2) Click on the MENU icon
    (3) Click on the product InDesign icon
Your browser should display the page for Adobe InDesign CC
    https://www.adobe.com/products/indesign.html?promoid=KLXLU
    (4) Click on the Download icon,
Your browser should now display the page to download InDesign,
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/indesign
    (5) a Pop-Up window should open, and display:
      Launch Application
This link needs to be opened with an application.
with the first option to select being the CreativeCloud(URIHandler)
    (5) Select this application and click OK.
What happened when I followed steps (1) thorugh (5) is that:
    (a) InDesign CC(2014) was installed,
    (b) InDesign CC, updated, and then
    (c) InDesign CC(2014), also updated.
Why this all worked, is a mystery to me.
Looks like a separate, "new" version of InDesign, InDesign CC(2014), was installed, the existing "old" InDesign was updated, and then the newly installed Indesign CC(2014) was further updated.
A BIT MORE, when I launched my InDesign CC app, and checked to see if there were Updates Available, there in fact was an Adobe InDesign CC 64 bit (9.2.2) update.
I clicked on UPDATE and my "old" InDesign CC app was "successfully updated."
FURTHER INFO:  I may have neglected to list some important info ... OS:  Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center, 64-bit
Confused, I am able to launch BOTH of these apps, and hopefully I may use one of these versions of the InDesign CC app, to do some InDesign work.
    Will keep y'all posted!

    Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud

What is the current version of Ps (Help->System Info), if you have 13.0.1.2 already applied then you need to re-install Ps to get Ps 13.1.2.
