Broken DCs & activation view

Hi,
I have created new WDJ DC project in MSS Component e.g mss/transfer using the same track.
My Project is working fine without any issues, no build errors or no activation errors.
Now i'm trying to release this project but i not able to do that.
After check-in my request is long time waiting under the Activation View, it is not moving to the Transport view at all.
I viewed the Component Build Service(CBS), status is like below.
Buildspaces
TRACK_D = Total Dcs : 205, Broken Dcs : 205, Dirty Dcs : 0, Active : YES, input : Open, Request Processing: ON
& TRACK_C is same but Broken Dcs is 179 .
Requests
Request ID :   2,840
Request State: FAILED
Request Type: ACTIVATE
so what to do next?
Regards
Ali

HI,
1) There might be some Dependent DCs  for the DC you have created and they might  not be deployed .
IDentify them any deploy them from NWDS. in DC perspective, you can right click on the dependent DCs and deploy.
2) The other reason can be may be you have not checked in some of the activities in which the Dependent DCs were modified.
so if there are any, check  in them and try to activate again .

Satya.

  • ESS 177 broken DCs, MSS 20 broken DCs

    Hi,
We have done many times of activation, build, released and transportation for ESS customozation.
After Activation failed: CBS Server Error is solved, we encountered the broken DCs problem in the CBS.
    ESS  :                              Total DCs=177 ,                          Broken DCs=177
    MSS   :                             Total DCs=20  ,                           Broken DCs=20
    SAP-JEE :                         Total DCs=0   ,                           Broken DCs=0
    SAPPCUI_GP :                  Total DCs=0   ,                           Broken DCs=0
    SAP_BUILDT   :                  Total DCs=0   ,                           Broken DCs=0
    SAP_JTECHS  :                   Total DCs=0  ,                           Broken DCs=0
When i viewed the Build Log of each DC, the error is as below:
USED COMPONENT OR PUBLIC PART IS UNKNOWN OR UNDEFINED / USED BUILD PLUGIN IS UNKNOWN OR UNDEFINED.
    1. It seems that SAP-JEE, SAPPCUI_GP, SAP_BUILDT and SAP_JTECHS has 0 Total DCs. Is it normal or something wrong?
    2. How do i solve this problem?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    1. This is wrong.
    2. Re-import them into your track, starting from the Development stage.

  • Help: NWDI 7.2 CBS build problem - initialize compartment-broken DCs

    Hi all.
I am facing a problem with CBS build due to broken DCs - invalid dependencies. I have read all the articles and notse related to this issue, but cannot not solve is. Has anyone faced this issue or know a solution?
    The problem:
In one SC I have a DC A, which used to have public part PP_A.
In another SC I have a DC B, which used to depend on public part PP_A of DC A.
As part of implementation, the PP_A in DC A was deleted and replaced by new public parts. The changes are checked in and activated in NWDI successfully.
Next, the DC B was corrected, its reference to PP_A was deleted and replaced with appropriate replacements.
I checked in the activity correcting the DC B. Activation fails, because CBS complains that DC B has invalid dependency. I assume that the CBS cache still holds the old sources.
I took the compartment where DC B is located and triggered a CBS Reinitialize compartment (which should discard the cached sources and load a fresh copy). The CBS Reinitialize compartment request fails too! The log shows the same message as the build log: invalid dependency.
It seems that during reinitialize, CBS checks the validity of the DCs in the compartment BEFORE it does clean its cache and refreshes from DTR.
In DTR, I can see the sources of DC A and DC B checked in correctly in the inactive branch, the .dcdef in DC B contains correct references to new public parts of DC A.
Does anyone know how to force CBS to refresh its sources from DTR where correct sources are checked in?
    Thanks.

    Right.
Its not the CONS, it's the active from DEV which is used. I sort of don't understand the NWDI concept then, maybe SAP could learn a little from Hudson, CruiseControl you name it.
Apparently, as I found out after some trial and error, the checks done before the build AND before the initialize compartment run on sources from ACTIVE branch. So the check-ed in fixed sources of the DC B are ignored by CBS. It then complains about the invalid dependencies all the time.
Finally, although it looks very scary, I activated the soure code changes of the dependent components (I hade a lot of them, not just one) with the "Activate even if the build fails". Then the initialize compartment did not complain about BROKEN components because of dependencies, because the check of metadata succeeded and the components were rebuilt.
    Thanks for hints.

  • ESS enhancement build caused broken DCs

    Hi,
I'm doing ESSxx_D on <b>leave</b> enhancement and encountered the broken DCs after consolidation process.
Actually, i had tried the consolidation for 2 times, but none was successful.
In the first time, there were all 177 broken DCs for ESS_C and 1 broken DC for ESS_D after consolidation.
The broken DC happened to other DC (ess/tra/tri in ESS_D) which i didnt touch at all (only enhanced on ess/lea in ESS_D).
    1. How could the broken DCs happened to ESS_C (which is supposed to be constant version) and ESS_D (which is not the one that i did enhancement at)?
Then, i created a new track and redo everything again. I just copied and pasted the source codes.
After checked-in, activated and released, the enhanced ESSxx_D deployed successfully to the development server. Everything is fine till this point.
Next, ESSxx_D was imported in the consolidation. After imported, there is ONE broken DC in the <b>ESSxx_C's ess/lea DC</b>. Error message is as below.
    2. Isnt the <b>ESSxx_C</b> the constant version of the ESS and the enhancement will not affecting it? The ESSxx_D has no broken DC.
    3. The source codes were same for the first time and second time consolidation. What could be gone wrong?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Broken DCs

I am running WAS640 SP11.  I am using development scenario 2+.  I have two buildspaces WAS_APPL_C & WAS_APPL_D.  In WAS_APPL_C, I have 5 broken DCs for example.org.  In WAS_APPL_D I have none. The same DCs for appl/tax etc. are green in WAS_APPL_D.  Can I just delete the broken DCs attached to WAS_APPL_C and how?  I get errors when trying to assemble the application.
How would I go about recollecting all the objects, checking them in and adding them to a new activity for later transport.
    I am stuck!

    Hi Steve,
You can try a few things to get the build to work in the cons buildspace. The simplest is to use CBS to try and fix the problem.
First, launch CBS for the track, select the cons buildspace, go to Compartments and then select the Build the Compartment tab. At the bottom of the screen, you should see an Initialize the Compartment button. Select that and CBS should synch up with what is in DTR and build the compartment. You can check your results in the Development Components link to see if the compile state is green.
If everything looks OK from CBS, go back to CMS and assemble the components.
If that doesn't work, try looking for pending activities in the cons buildspace and activating them.

    Any idea ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hello,
"broken DC" means that the build failed for this development component. This for example happens if a used component was changed in an incompatible way. It also happens if the DC itself contains errors and the developer used the "activate even if build fails"
    option in NWDS.
If you view the buildspace of your system in CBS you will see which DCs are actually broken. And you can also see the build logs there.
The CMS prevents you from assembling a  software component that contains broken DCs.
    Hope this helps

  • Images broken in design view on new computer paths leading to old harddrive?

I recently got a new imac and installed cs5 dreamweaver ( I was using dreamweaver 8 but it no longer works in mountain lion) . I redfined the site all was fine then I must have done something and now suddenly all my images are broken in design view and in brower and live view! The site shows the images online from the server but everything is broken in design view. The directory is a mess as I used way too may subfolders when I first did the site but it's too large to start over. I tried deleting the site from my harddrive all together and creating a new folder for it and just getting the entire site from the server but the images still don't show. I don't want to have to go to every page on the site and fix broken links! I can pull an image into a page by browsing to the folder on my harddrive but they are not appearing anymore on their own. If the images were uploaded originally from another computer and the folder being used now for the site on my harddrive is different that won't break the image paths will it? It all worked fine until a few days ago. What I don't understand is I thought the images wouldn't show if they were only on the server and not on my harddrive but since I just GOT the site from the server, all the images ARE now on my harddrive in the new folder so why still nothing showing? I I tried right clicking the broken images and showing design notes they seem to be lookin for a path to my old computer where the harddrive was named differently than it is now. Is there ANY way to fix this? What about renaming my harddrive to the old name?
Greatful for any advice but I am very much a newbie so not sure I will be able to do what I need to.

Spaces in folder/filenames are not a good practice.  Space are converted to %20 on the server.  DW's Design View often can't reconcile this.  Best advice is to remove the spaces and use underscores _ or hyphens -
    Rename this:
    http://www.thedqtimes.com/Jane_site/Lake%20Effects/lakeeffectsjdaughters.jpg
    http://www.thedqtimes.com/Becky%20H%20stories/Untitled-1.jpg
    To this:
    http://www.thedqtimes.com/Jane_site/Lake_Effects/lakeeffectsjdaughters.jpg
    http://www.thedqtimes.com/Becky_H_stories/Untitled-1.jpg
Also, you have a misplaced <head> tag.  It needs to be above the Dynamic drive Javascript code.
    <head>
         <script> </script>
         <style> <style>
    </head>
Some pages are missing an HTML doc type declaration.  This sends browsers into Quirks Mode.
Use validation tools to check for other code errors.

  • A bug with flags and active view? Or is it a (bad) feature?..

As I mark an image in a folder view as flagged and then switch to a collection view and look on the same image, it's not flagged.
I expect, that information about marking the image as flagged remains on that image, not on a current active view.

It's as designed - Flags are local to a Folder/Collection.
    >Or is it a (bad) feature?
It depends - some think it's a great and others hate it with a passion.

  • Difference between refresh of Report in Active Viewer and Active Studio BAM

We use the Oracle SOA Suite with BAM (on Linux) 10.3.2.0.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. We have made a report with several items and in Active Studio --> Select Report --> Edit mode --> I see the correct values for my report. When I open my report in Active Viewer I see data from yesterday. The report is not being refreshed. How can I change this, what is causing this difference between Active Viewer and Active Studio in Edit mode??
    2. One of my items in my report always gives the message: opening (only in Active Viewer, in Active Studio/edit mode I can see the correct data).

Is your popup blocker turned off? I can only imaging that the popup blocker may be keeping the Live Data window from appearing and updating the dashboard. Active Studio doesn't do a Live update, but an update on report load.

  • Safari 6: What happened to "Activity" view? Also Web Inspector Network view doesn't work.

    Hi all,
I "upgraded" to Safari 6 and while it's super-fast and snappy as ****, I'm missing two features:
    1) Activity view is gone! It was the easiest way to see what kind of crap websites are loading and you could double click on files and view them. Now  that's gone.
    2) I then tried using Web Inspector to try to track down a FLV file that was being loaded (something that worked with old Safari) and I couldn't do it anymore... Flash loading is not visible in Safari 6 and yet it was in previous Safari.
Ugh... new Safari is a great but they took two of my favorite options
Is there something I'm missing or are these features really gone?

Ugh... new Safari is a great but they took two of my favorite options
Send feedback >  Apple - Safari - Feedback
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
Check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
And try uninstalling the currently installed Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All

  • Is there a way to automatically open the Activity Viewer & make it float?

I just upgraded from Panther Mail, and I really miss knowing what was going on and having to constantly open the activity viewer and reordering the windows every time I do something. Is there a way to somehow make the activity viewer open with mail each time and keep it floating above the other windows (so I can have an indication of what's going on like in Panther Mail)?
I'm afraid I'm going to shut mail down in the middle of a crucial activity. No doubt that might well be behind all the problems that develop with it over time.
    Thanks!

I had two problems relating directly to the Tiger upgrade, one I solved with help here. That was importing saved mail that failed to be imported into one mailbox, the saved messages were showing up as IMAP messages ("haven't been downloaded from the server yet"). When both my accounts were POP, I never even had an IMAP account. I solved that and everything else with mail is fine now, except I want to see what's going on like I was able to in Panther. I especially miss not seeing outgoing mail sent progress, especially with long messages.
The other issue was font related, and I still cannot get Fontbook to save the fonts I have disabled, so I just removed the duplicates manually (leaving the ones in the system folder as the defaults). As long as I don't open fontbook again, and it doesn't automatically re-enable the fonts, my system is fine. I will leave it alone now for a couple of years like I was able to in Panther. I have over 3000 fonts installed and available at all times which I need for my print work.
Other than that and a 25 minute log-in time (as it reads the fonts; in Panther it was 7 minutes and I learned to live with that) everything is finally ok.
The long log-in might also be Spotless related; I don't know enough about it to figure it out; all I know is if it is, it is a small price to pay for the way the system flies not having to index all my loaded drives all the time, not to mention the wear and tear on my drives.
Tiger is so much faster than Panther (once I shut down Spotlight) it's like having a processor upgrade. Once you work out all the glitches, it's definitely worth the money and time put in. I was very careful with the install... counting backup time the usual precautions and updates to everything afterward (including third-party programs), it took over 30 hours.
    Thanks!

  • Checked-In Activities not showing in Activation View

    All,
Having a bit of trouble with our NWDI that just started happening.   Normally, when we check-in an activity in the Open Activities view of the Development Configurations perspective in NWDS, we should be getting a dialog that asks whether we want to go ahead and activate that activity.   This is no longer happening.
Additionally, if we switch to the Activation view in NWDS, the activities do not appear there.
We have a work-around (going through the CBS web UI, finding the activities, and manually activating them), but it's less than desirable.
Any ideas of what might be causing this problem?    Perhaps issues with the NWDI track?  Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks!
Edited by: Peter Rauchenstein on Jun 23, 2008 5:52 PM

    Akshatha,
I have tried what you suggested, but this appears to only be another work around (I'll still award you some points though, because I think it was helpful).   I am a member of both the NWDI.Administrators UME group and the NWDI.Developers group, so I can see all pending activities for all users when i apply the filter.
However, when I do not apply the filter (current user), I can not even see my OWN activities, despite having admin privileges on that user.   Perhaps something is incorrect in the assigned actions for the NWDI.Developer role?
However, I appear to have the correct actions assigned...
    UME  -- sap.com_com.sap.lcr -- LcrInstanceWriterNR
    UME  -- CMS -- Display
    UME  -- CMS -- Export
    UME  -- CBS -- Developer
Any other ideas of what might be causing this issue?   We are on NW SP15 and are also using the SP15 version of NWDS.
    Thanks!

  • ESS MSS - Multiple Broken DCs in CBS

    Hello All,
We are working on Netweaver Portal 2004s SP15.
We have deployed ess, mss and pcui_gp patches of SP12.
We have also installed the NWDI.
We have created new track, and added ess,mss and pcui_gp software
components to it. We have checked in and imported following components:
    sap.com_EP_BUILDT 7.00 15
    sap.com_SAP-JEE 7.00 15

    sap.com_SAP_MSS 600 12
    sap.com_SAPPCUI_GP 600 12
But when we observed in CBS, there are many Broken DCs like
    pcui_gp/xssutils, pcui_gp/xsscfg, ess/no/pdata, ess/no/bank, etc.
Because of this we are unable to build the projects in NWDS

    Hi Alexander
    Thanks for the reply.
We have imported the required SCAs into new track. That workd fine and these are visible in NWDS.
The problem is with our custom made SC which contains some DCs built on java1.4. When we import this SCA, it is shown as broken in CBS. that is also fine because the CE7.1 runs on java1.5. (There may be some build errors)
The problem is we are not able to see these broken DCs in to NWDS.
