Browser Requirements for Web Auth

My configuration is 2 4404 WLCs, version 4.2.130.0, with WCS version 4.2.97.0. We have a guest WLAN set up to do Web Auth to a TACACS server and the local WCS database. I am trying to find a document for this version of WCS that gives minimum browser versions for IE, firefox, netscape, safari, etc. If anyone can point me to this information I would appreciate it.

I found my own answer.
Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or higher is the only browser supported for accessing the controller GUI and for using web authentication.

There is nothing in specific. When you say it takes a long time, do you mean on the LMS or locally as well?
Try updaing the Flash Player.

Also what objects you have in your project?
Does it have widgets or heavier graphics?
Also are you using any particular preloader? Have you tried using the default.swf preloader?

Server/browser requirements for WebHelp output files

What are the UNIX server and browser requirements in order to
display a WebHelp project output file correctly?
When I generate the primary layout, I am not selecting 508
format, and I select Java Applet as the preferred method for the
Navigation Pane (checking the radio button for DHTML > Java
Applet > Pure HTML as the order of preference.
When viewing the help project on the UNIX server through
Mozilla, the page appears to load and reload, load and reload.
Sometims pressing Esc. stops it and you can view the TOC and
content pane. The way around this is to generate Pure HTML only,
but then the index and the glossary become very difficult to use.
Robohelp Webhelp descriptions claim to work on all platforms
and in all browser types. What requirement are we missing on our
UNIX server so the project can display correctly?

Generate Webhelp output setup:
Use lowercase filenames (recomm. for UNIX)
Toolbar buttons: Content, Index, Search
Navigation: Add breadcrumbs links
Additional options: Enable Highlight Search results, Synchronize TOC automatically
Navigation Pane preferred format: DHTML > Java Applet > Pure HTML
Optimize speed for: Web site
Q: how are you setting up your Linux to open the default project page?
A: I use Linux only to launch the webehelp output.
Q: Are you opening the GENERATED project default page or trying to open the project source files?
A: I am trying to open the generated project default page. I copy the Webhelp folder to a Linux machine and launch the index.html page to see the output.
Q: Why are you replacing the foreward-backward slash?
A: In Linux '\' is not supported for hyperlinks/filepaths. Therefore I changed the backward slashes to forward slashes.
The scenario:
When the project files have filepath such as ../../doc/xyz/,
when I view in Windows (IE)- I can access the link
when I view in Linux (FF)- I see broken link with error message somewhat like "cannot find ..\..\doc\xyz\". (Note the changed usage of slash)
This indicates that the generated files changes the forward slash to backward.

Hi Ashish,
If you want to install NWDS only then as said 1g.b is sufficient.
But if it's Personal System then you have to install Portal also( WAS).
You will require minimum of 2g.b of RAM and 120g.b of hard disk.

5508 loading cert for web auth

I have web auth enabled on the WLC so when clients connec they get a cert error because it is using the self signed cert. I was reading up on getting a third part cert and it explains about getting openssl and then generating the cert and sending it to a third party CA etc.
Any links you can share would be very helpful explaining best practices and method to load a third party cert on the WLC 5508 for web authentication.
Why can't I just get a cert from them for our domain and simply load it on the WLC?

How to generate CSR on switches for web auth with NGS

I am doing a dot1x solution with web auth on cisco 3750 switches.
Once the wired client get put into web auth state (after dot1x and mab) and goes to a website, he gets a certificate warning. This is because the certificate of the cisco switch is selfsigned.
I want to use a verisign certificate to solve this error, but I cannot find a way to generate a CSR on a switch. I only found a guide how to request a certificate from a CA on the local network, but this is also not a solution, because the clients using the web auth, will not know the internal CA.
Is there any way to solve this?

The below document is actually for IOS SSLVPN, but the certificate portion should be the same:

Search for "Appendix B" and it goes into creating a trustpoint and then one section is for self-signed and another is for generating a certificate request to send to an external CA.
Once a trustpoint is created the command to actually generate the CSR is "crypto pki enroll ".

Also you could use something external to the switch like OpenSSL to generate the CSR/private key and then use that to request a cert from your Verisign CA and then import the cert/keypair into the IOS device.

They are already using standard Web-Dynpro application of Leave Management System on ESS.
Now, they want to use standard Web-Dynpro screens for Appraisal system on ESS.
My Query is: What is the minimum system requirement for using standard Web-Dynpro screens for Appraisal system on ESS ???
I think minimum enhancement pack used for the same requirement is EHP2. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
One more query: From where we can see the latest Enhancement Pack applied on System ???

I want to know how to estimate the hardware requirements for both the clients and the server to run the application.

"Auth type not supported by External DB" error for web-auth SSIDs

We're having a problem with web-authentication on our 4404/WisM controllers since we moved to software rev 5.x (currently running 5.1.151.0).
With software rev 4.x our web-auth SSIDs would send the authentication requests to a Cisco ACS4.0 which would then authenticate the users against MS Active directory.
Now (with rev 5.x) the same SSIDs cannot authenticate users against AD, the error in the ACS is:
Auth type not supported by External DB
Found the following Cisco Doc regarding the problem: Cisco Secure ACS and Windows AD EAP/802.1x port authentication fails with the Auth type not supported by External DB error message - Case Number K24308566. Done a packet capture on ACS to see authentications coming in and the ones that fail with above error are using CHAP - from the Cisco documentation, MS AD doesn't support CHAP.
Any ideas on how I can get the web-auth working again with software rev 5.x ?

my apologies - theres a setting under Controller - General for Web Radius Authentication. changed this from CHAP to PAP and its now working ok.

Client Excluded ReasonCode on WLC for Web Auth

I wonder if you can point me at a table that defines the Reason Code(s) for Client Exclusion Failure? See the example event log entry below from a Guest Controller for Web Authentication failure (that was resolved - Internet router down) but I was wondering if the Reason Codes would be useful in troubleshooting. CSCsy88149 Chained certificate can not have Wildcard * character in hostname
Even if bought at verisign or any root CA, your cert has a good chance of being chained since they very often use an intermediate CA. I know wildcard certs are supported but this bug seems to say that it doesn't work for chained.

Happy New year to all....!!!!! We have installed BI in SAP Netweaver 2004s with ABAP+JAVA stack. Also, we have BEx 7.0 and we need to create web templates of the reports and queries which have been created in BI system so that we can call them in CRM 2007 Web UI.
For, our BI consultant is trying to create web template, but could not do so as it is giving a XML Validation error. Also, I came to know from one of my friend that inorder to use WAD the BI system should have a component called BI_JAVA.
Can anyone tell me is it mandatory to have BI_JAVA in BI system to create web templates using WAD and what are the requirement or pre-requisites to use WAD.
Currently, BI system is not having BI_JAVA and how can I install if it is required. Appreciate any qucik help in this regard.

I am having oracle 8.0.4 on windows NT platform.Now i want to make it a web server.what all i need to make it a web server (also any h/w & s/w upgarde required).

There will be no Oracle AS 11g. It is called Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g and available since July 1, 2009.
