Browsing index

Hi,
I'm trying to use browsing index to improve the performance of a search but I don't get any result.
To configure the browsin index I have added the two entries:
dn: cn=Cache, cn=userRoot,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
objectClass: top
objectClass: vlvSearch
cn: Cache
vlvbase: ou=xxxxx,o=yyyyy,c=es
vlvscope: 1
vlvfilter: (|(att1=value1)(|(attr2=val2)(attr3=val3)))
dn: cn=Telephone, cn=Cache,cn=userRoot,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
objectClass: top
objectClass: vlvIndex
cn: Telephone
vlvSort: authcallingstationid
So, what I would like the LDAP server to return are the authcallingstationid attribute of those entries that match the vlvfilter.
and the search I'm doing is:
./ldapsearch -1 -T -S authcallingstationid -G 30:30:authcallingstationid -x -h <ldapserver> -p <port> -D "uid=user" -w <pasword> -b "ou=yyyyy,o=xxxxx,c=es" -s one '(|(att1=value1)(|(attr2=val2)(attr3=val3)))' authcallingstationid
In the error log it doesn't appear the message:
[13/Mar/2007:15:52:40 +0100] - WARNING<20805> - Backend Database - conn=30 op=1 msgId=2 - search is not indexed
so I guess it is using in some way the index. But I don't get any performace improvement.
Am I using in a wrong way the browsing index?.
Thanks.
Regards,
David.

Hi David,
Once you had defined the 2 entries for the Browsing Index, have you rebuilt the indexes for the database ?
You can either use db2index or export and re-import the data.

Ludovic.

  • Configuring Browsing Indexes for Service Search Descriptor Filters

    I am running DSEE 6.1 on Solaris 10.
    I restrict access to the ldap clients (solaris8, 9, and 10) for various users in the Directory by configuring the service search descriptors to use a filter based on specific roles. Each servers profile mentions a role depending on type of server and then users are assigned roles which are nested within specific server type roles:
    NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= passwd:ou=People,dc=example,dc=com?one?nsrole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com
    NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= group:ou=group,dc=example,dc=com?one
    NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= audit_user:ou=People,dc=example,dc=com?one?nsrole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com
    NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= shadow:ou=People,dc=example,dc=com?one?nsrole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com
    NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= user_attr:ou=People,dc=example,dc=com?one?nsrole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com
    I have noticed in my error logs on the Directory servers messages regarding these filters not being indexed:
    WARNING<20805> - Backend Database - conn=949139 op=1 msgId=2 - search is not indexed base='ou=people,dc=example,dc=com' filter='(nsRole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com)' scope='one'
    I have also had a few instances where the naming services seems to have stopped altogether. This seems to be timed with when my clients do a refresh of the ldap cache - which is the time that I seed the not indexed messages in the error log.
    I guess that I need to set up Browsing Indexes for these filters
    Can anyone give examples how to do this?
    I guess I will need a vlvBase of ou=people,dc=example,dc=com
    vlvScope of 1
    vlvFilter of nsRole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com
    I am not sure what I would do for vlvsort attributes though??

    The access logs shows that the attributes to be sorted are uid and cn:
    25/Apr/2008:09:58:21 +1200] conn=171835 op=1 msgId=2 - SRCH base="ou=people,dc=example,dc=com" scope=1 filter="(nsRole=cn=serverRole,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=com)" attrs="cn uid uidNumber gidNumber gecos description homeDirectory loginShell"
    [25/Apr/2008:09:58:21 +1200] conn=171835 op=1 msgId=2 - SORT cn uid (1426)
    [25/Apr/2008:09:58:21 +1200] conn=171835 op=1 msgId=2 - VLV 0:999:0:0 1:1426 (0)
    [25/Apr/2008:09:58:26 +1200] conn=171835 op=1 msgId=2 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=999 etime=5 notes=U
    So the vlvsort attributes should be cn and uid.

  • How to use Browsing Index

    Hi, I want to speed up a search that return a large number of users. For what I understood I need to create a Browsing index. I've created a browsing index following instruction on the Admin manual, but I really don't understand how to use it ?
    After creating the index (ldapmodify + vlvindex), are this index used by default if the search mach the vlvbase and vlvfilter ?
    Thanx

    Sorry I don't know why I don't see the [notes=u] in the access log but it seam the my vlv is not created at all.
    When i run vlvindex I get the following error:
    [18/Feb/2005:12:28:01 +0100] - userRoot: Indexing VLV: Sort SN
    [18/Feb/2005:12:28:02 +0100] - userRoot: Indexed search unsuccessful, will perform unindexed search instead.
    No vlv#.... files are created in the db directory, so I think no vlv index are created..

  • After reinstalling system software, Apple Loops won't re-index

    I have an odd problem that I really need some help with. I feel like there must be a simple solution, and I'm just missing something obvious.
    The other day I had to do an archive and install from my original system disks (10.4.2) and then bring myself back to 10.4.11 (running a dual quad-core G5 here). I had to manually move my audio units and virtual instruments back to my current logic setup and application support folders.
    I just went into the Loop Browser, and all of my apple loops have disappeared from the window. The loops exist on various external hard drives, and I normally just drop them onto the loop browser and pick "keep at current location" - then the browser indexes them, and everything is fine.
    This is the first time I'm accessing apple loops since I reinstalled the system software (and I do still have the "Previous System" folder that the archive-and-install generates), and I got a blank list in the loop browser. So I tried dragging and dropping a few loop libraries, but to no avail - it appears to index them quickly (taking 1-2 seconds) but then there's still nothing in the browser. I've deleted the old index text files, so that shouldn't be a problem.
    Can anyone help me figure out how to get my apple loops to re-index properly?

    Wrong!
    this could be the problem...
    Permission must be active
    Logic studio require license... so require permission
    if the external drive as set to ignore permussion logic will never index a folder without ownreship
    you need to pay for Apple Loops
    they are not free
    they are included in Logic Studio or you need to BUY JamPacks as individual DVD expansion...
    *External disk with ignore permission are not allowed...*
    *The only way is...*
    *you need to create a Alias folder of all contents after installing Logic in the original location... than move that folder original on external drive.... and than you must delete de alias suffis on orther tha the folder must have the same permission as original.... It must be located in the same original location*

  • What is my maine browser closed, i am in fire fox open site in td water house, want to buy stock,tells me your maine browser closed, how can i fix it

    I like to open my main browser in f.fox. i am in td waterhouse stock site ,need to by stock does not allow me .it said you close main browser.how can i fix it.i have win7.os and f.fox browser

    According to their support page, Firefox is supported: [http://www.tdwaterhouse.ca/products-services/investing/browser-index.jsp WebBroker Supported Browsers].
    Are you using the site in a "private" window? It's possible that the site pops up separate windows and needs for the various windows to be able to share data, which might not work with private windows.
    Do you have any add-ons that might change how the site's windows work, for example, blocking pop-up windows or new tabs, or changing how frames work?
    To test how the site works with your extensions disabled, you could try Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • Index don't improve the performance

    Hello everyone,
    I've a problem on improving the performance of XMLType Column. In fact, I've created a table with tow column a Number column and a XMLType column and found out that the retreival time is quite unexceptal for the following SQL Statement:
    Select id, extractValue(data, '/requestor/name') From
    requestor Where extractValue(data, '/requestor/name')
    = 'Req1640'
    So I have created an Index like this:
    create index req_name_index on requestor
    extractValue(data, '/requestor/name')
    but it don't improve the performance.
    What's wrong?
    Thanks

  • About Browser

    What made me confused is I can only use Netscape Navigator to access WebDB after I installed it into local DB server.
    If using MS Explore, there always comes to an error like this:
    "something wrong with your page, cannot display it."
    I am sorry I don't know how to translate this error message from Japanese to English. But it is something like this.
    What is the matter actually?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Getting realistic performance expectations.

    I am running tests to see if I can use the Oracle Berkeley XML database as a backend to a web application but am running into query response performance limitations. As per the suggestions for performance related questions, I have pulled together answers to the series of questions that need to be addressed, and they are given below. The basic issue at stake, however, is am I being realistic about what I can expect to achieve with the database?
    Regards
    Geoff Shuetrim
    Oracle Berkeley DB XML database performance.
    Berkeley DB XML Performance Questionnaire
    1. Describe the Performance area that you are measuring? What is the
    current performance? What are your performance goals you hope to
    achieve?
    I am using the database as a back end to a web application that is expected
    to field a large number of concurrent queries.
    The database scale is described below.
    Current performance involves responses to simple queries that involve 1-2
    minute turn around (this improves after a few similar queries have been run,
    presumably because of caching, but not to a point that is acceptable for
    web applications).
    Desired performance is for queries to execute in milliseconds rather than
    minutes.
    2. What Berkeley DB XML Version? Any optional configuration flags
    specified? Are you running with any special patches? Please specify?
    Berkeley DB XML Version: 2.4.16.1
    Configuration flags: enable-java -b 64 prefix=/usr/local/BerkeleyDBXML-2.4.16
    No special patches have been applied.
    3. What Berkeley DB Version? Any optional configuration flags
    specified? Are you running with any special patches? Please Specify.
    Berkeley DB Version? 4.6.21
    Configuration flags: None. The Berkeley DB was built and installed as part of the
    Oracle Berkeley XML database build and installation process.
    No special patches have been applied.
    4. Processor name, speed and chipset?
    Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz (1066 FSB) (4MB Cache)
    5. Operating System and Version?
    Ubuntu Linux 8.04 (Hardy) with the 2.6.24-23 generic kernel.
    6. Disk Drive Type and speed?
    300 GB 7200RPM hard drive.
    7. File System Type? (such as EXT2, NTFS, Reiser)
    EXT3
    8. Physical Memory Available?
    Memory: 3.8GB DDR2 SDRAM
    9. Are you using Replication (HA) with Berkeley DB XML? If so, please
    describe the network you are using, and the number of Replica’s.
    No.
    10. Are you using a Remote Filesystem (NFS) ? If so, for which
    Berkeley DB XML/DB files?
    No.
    11. What type of mutexes do you have configured? Did you specify
    –with-mutex=? Specify what you find inn your config.log, search
    for db_cv_mutex?
    I did not specify -with-mutex when building the database.
    config.log indicates:
    db_cv_mutex=POSIX/pthreads/library/x86_64/gcc-assembly
    12. Which API are you using (C++, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, other) ?
    Which compiler and version?
    I am using the Java API.
    I am using the gcc 4.2.4 compiler.
    I am using the g++ 4.2.4 compiler.
    13. If you are using an Application Server or Web Server, please
    provide the name and version?
    I am using the Tomcat 5.5 application server.
    It is not using the Apache Portable Runtime library.
    It is being run using a 64 bit version of the Sun Java 1.5 JRE.
    14. Please provide your exact Environment Configuration Flags (include
    anything specified in you DB_CONFIG file)
    I do not have a DB_CONFIG file in the database home directory.
    My environment configuration is as follows:
    Threaded = true
    AllowCreate = true
    InitializeLocking = true
    ErrorStream = System.err
    InitializeCache = true
    Cache Size = 1024 * 1024 * 500
    InitializeLogging = true
    Transactional = false
    TrickleCacheWrite = 20
    15. Please provide your Container Configuration Flags?
    My container configuration is done using the Java API.
    The container creation code is:
    XmlContainerConfig containerConfig = new XmlContainerConfig();
    containerConfig.setStatisticsEnabled(true);
    XmlContainer container = xmlManager.createContainer("container",containerConfig);I am guessing that this means that the only flag I have set is the one
    that enables recording of statistics to use in query optimization.
    I have no other container configuration information to provide.
    16. How many XML Containers do you have?
    I have one XML container.
    The container has 2,729,465 documents.
    The container is a node container rather than a wholedoc container.
    Minimum document size is around 1Kb.
    Maximum document size is around 50Kb.
    Average document size is around 2Kb.
    I am using document data as part of the XQueries being run. For
    example, I condition query results upon the values of attributes
    and elements in the stored documents.
    The database has the following indexes:
    xmlIndexSpecification = dataContainer.getIndexSpecification();
    xmlIndexSpecification.replaceDefaultIndex("node-element-presence");
    xmlIndexSpecification.addIndex(Constants.XBRLAPINamespace,"fragment","node-element-presence");
    xmlIndexSpecification.addIndex(Constants.XBRLAPINamespace,"data","node-element-presence");

    The following provides the basic information about the shape of all documents
    in the data store.
    <ns:fragment xmlns:ns="..." attrs...(about 20 of them)>
      <ns:data>
        Single element that varies from document to document but that
        is rarely more than a few small elements in size and (in some cases)
        a lengthy section of string content for the single element.
      </ns:data>
    </ns:fragment>18. What is the rate of document insertion/update required or
    expected? Are you doing partial node updates (via XmlModify) or
    replacing the document?
    Document insertion rates are not a first order performance criteria.
    I do no document modifications using XmlModify.
    When doing updates I replace the original document.
    19. What is the query rate required/expected?
    Not sure how to provide metrics for this but a single web page is
    being generated, this can involve hundreds of queries. each of which
    should be trivial to execute given the indexing strategy in use.
    20. XQuery -- supply some sample queries
    1. Please provide the Query Plan
    2. Are you using DBXML_INDEX_NODES?
              I am using DBXML_INDEX_NODES by default because I
              am using a node container rather than a whole document
              container.
    3. Display the indices you have defined for the specific query.

    I am not running with transactions.

    The log files are stored on the same disk as the container.
    23. Do you use AUTO_COMMIT?
    Yes. I think that it is a default feature of the DocumentConfig that
    I am using.
    24. Please list any non-transactional operations performed?
    I do document insertions and I do XQueries.
    25. How many threads of control are running? How many threads in read
    only mode? How many threads are updating?
    One thread is updating. Right now one thread is running queries. I am
    not yet testing the web application with concurrent users given the
    performance issues faced with a single user.
    26. Please include a paragraph describing the performance measurements
    you have made. Please specifically list any Berkeley DB operations
    where the performance is currently insufficient.
    I have loaded approximately 7 GB data into the container and then tried
    to run the web application using that data. This involves running a broad
    range of very simple queries, all of which are expected to be supported
    by indexes to ensure that they do not require XML document traversal activity.
    Querying performance is insufficient, with even the most basic queries
    taking several minutes to complete.
    27. What performance level do you hope to achieve?
    I hope to be able to run a web application that simultaneously handles
    page requests from hundreds of users, each of which involves a large
    number of database queries.
    28. Please send us the output of the following db_stat utility commands

    No other significant applications are running on the system.
    I am not using Berkeley DB outside of Berkeley DB XML.
    The application is a web application that organises the data in

    Hi Geoff,
    Thanks for filling out the performance questionnaire. Unfortunately the forum software seems to have destroyed some of your queries - you might want to use \[code\] and \[code\] to markup your queries and query plans next time.
    Geoff Shuetrim wrote:
    Current performance involves responses to simple queries that involve 1-2
    minute turn around (this improves after a few similar queries have been run,
    presumably because of caching, but not to a point that is acceptable for
    web applications).
    Desired performance is for queries to execute in milliseconds rather than
    minutes.I think that this is a reasonable expectation in most cases.
    14. Please provide your exact Environment Configuration Flags (include
    anything specified in you DB_CONFIG file)
    I do not have a DB_CONFIG file in the database home directory.
    My environment configuration is as follows:
    Threaded = true
    AllowCreate = true
    InitializeLocking = true
    ErrorStream = System.err
    InitializeCache = true
    Cache Size = 1024 * 1024 * 500
    InitializeLogging = true
    Transactional = false
    TrickleCacheWrite = 20If you are performing concurrent reads and writes, you need to enable transactions in the both the environment and the container.
    Example queries.
    1. collection('browser')/*[@parentIndex='none']
    <XQuery>
    <QueryPlanToAST>
    <LevelFilterQP>
    <StepQP axis="parent-of-attribute" uri="*" name="*" nodeType="element">
    <ValueQP container="browser" index="node-attribute-equality-string" operation="eq" child="parentIndex" value="none"/>
    </StepQP>
    </LevelFilterQP>
    </QueryPlanToAST>
    </XQuery>
    I have two initial observations about this query:
    1) It looks like it could return a lot of results - a query that returns a lot of results will always be slow. If you only want a subset of the results, use lazy evalulation, or put an explicit call to the subsequence() function in the query.
    2) An explicit element name with an index on it often performs faster than a "*" step. I think you'll get faster query execution if you specify the document element name rather than "*", and then add a "node-element-presence" index on it.
    3) Generally descendant axis is faster than child axis. If you just need the document rather than the document (root) element, you might find that this query is a little faster (any document with a "parentIndex" attribute whose value is "none"):
    collection()[descendant::*/@parentIndex='none']Similar observations apply to the other queries you posted.
    Get back to me if you're still having problems with specific queries.

    Next, I followed the steps outlined in http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5200/gbnse?l=en&a=view&q=shared+calendar+ldap+lookup.
    I set service.wcap.userprefs.ldapproxyauth = "yes"
    I have the ACI entries as specified in that document.
    (targetattr = "mail || uid || icsCalendar || givenName || sn || cn")
    (targetfilter = (|(objectClass=icscalendaruser)(objectClass=icscalendarresource)))

    allow (read,search)
    (userdn = "ldap:///uid=*,ou=People,o=pcc.edu,o=cp")
    The only oddity I see is that the ACI entries are not passed down to the next directory levels.
    Any thoughts?
    David.

    I reviewed the document and I believe the VLV browsing indexes are setup and functional. I've also checked the ACI entries and they look correct. (The document doesn't mention the ACI entries for proxy authentication.) As I said, an admin user can retrieve names from the GAL, a non-admin user cannot. The only difference in the access log is the returned nentries value.

  • CRX/DE failing on Publish nodes with 404 for JSON data

    I'm in the process of rebuilding our author and publish staging instances using the 2.1 service pack for CQ5.5, and now I'm seeing problems with CRX/DE on both publish nodes on two difference machines.
    We get this error whenever we try to pull up CRX/DE on these two nodes:
    11.03.2013 13:18:40.222 *INFO* [12.104.103.30 [1363022320201] GET /crx/server/crx.default/jcr%3aroot/.1.json HTTP/1.1] org.apache.sling.engine.impl.SlingRequestProcessorImpl service: Resource /crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json not found
    The app works fine on the author node, and the websites themselves still appear to serve correctly from the publish instances.
    The odd thing is that, after I saw this problem, I wiped both publish instances and restored from a backup I had made this morning and restarted them to find that the problem persists.
    Any thoughts?  I had thought myself done with this process until this issue appearing suddenly.  At the time I was rebuilding bundles on the Author node after having installed an updated content package and replicating it to the publish nodes.  I was attempting to rebuild the bundles on the Publish nodes when I saw the CRX/DE problem.

    Hi,
    It seems to be access issue to me even though you have logged in as admin. To confirm this do the below.
    1. Open a browser and log in to your author instance using admin rights.
    2. Now using same browser now access http://localhost:4502/crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json which is actually request to access jcr respository. When you access this link you will see the proper JSON response return.
    Now
    1. Open another browser (not same as above because above browser does have your cq session) and just access http://localhost:4502/crx/server/crx.default/jcr:root/.1.json you will see a 404 because anonymous user doesnt have access to it.
    If above is true then plz try to look at your permissioning for jcr:root ("/") and if it looks good then check for authorization bundles status in felix console and check logs.
    Also try to access crx explorer, if you can see the hierarchy http://<host>:<port>/crx/explorer/browser/index.jsp
    Thanks,
    Pawan

    You can download from metalink. You will need a metalink account to do this.

  • Iframe and blank

    I want to use an external browser.
    iframe does not appear because it knew that the new browser.
    index.html

    width: 100%;
    border-top-width: 0;

    <a class="ui-link-inherit" target="self" rel="external" href="http://www.domain.com"> new browser </ a>
    I've been several tests, will open within app.
    Finally, have set in config.xml.
    <preference name="stay-in-webview" value="false" />
    true, false've tried both.
    iframe in the browser (index_iframe.html) in a new browser window (native browser) to open what should I do?

    Not really sure what the issue is. The code you've posted is broken up and fragmented.
    You have a DIV ID'd as IFrame. That's not necessary because <iframe> is already a tag.
    If you place:
    <iframe src="[domain.com] or [localpage.html]"></iframe>
    in your HTML where you want the frame, all you need in your CSS is
    iframe {
          width: value;
          height: value;
          border: value;
    and so on to make it work with the content in your iframe'd page.
    If there are other things you need it to do like display a certain portion of the page only, there are scripts and code to do that.

  • Tiles Have an Inconsistent Functioning

    Hi,
    I use tiles with JSF in my application.
    My layout has a header, a left side logo, a CONTEXT (actual body, where my other JSPs are inserted, and a footer).
    In the header, I have a menu in which there are command links.
    Content of my header.jsp is
    <h:form id="topmenu">
         <h:panelGrid id="menu" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" columns="15" columnClasses="top_links">
              <h:commandLink id="services" action="services@menu" value="Services"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="faq" action="faq@menu" value="FAQ"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="signup" action="signup@menu" value="Sign-up"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="login" action="login@menu" value="Log-in"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="support" action="support@menu" value="Support"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="legalterms" action="legal_terms@menu" value="Legal Terms"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="about" action="about@menu" value="About"></h:commandLink>
              <f:verbatim> | </f:verbatim>
              <h:commandLink id="contact" action="contact@menu" value="Contact"></h:commandLink>
         </h:panelGrid>
    </h:form>
    I have a navigation handler which handles the actions like "x@menu".
    Now let me tell you about the problem.
    When my web application is loaded in browser, index.jsp redirects to welcome.jsp.
    Problem sometimes arises from now on. If I click a link in the header.jsp, sometimes only the current page is refreshed and the page on the link is not called. This is not a consistent problem, it sometimes arises. I could not understand why! :(
    Then I implemented a view handler in order to see restoring, creating and rendering phases of the pages. I just printed out the phase names. And here is my output.

    As you can see sometimes a page seems to be only restored and the creation & rendering phases are not executed.
    What are your suggestions? Can it be a problem about Tiles&JSF usage?
    Thx in advance.

  • Enable server side soring

    Dear all
    Can please someone tell me how to enable server side sorting in LDAP version 6.3. My application requires that this functionality to be enabled and i don't know how to enable it.
    please advice.

    You have to create browsing indexes.
    Have a look at [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2765/fpypa?l=en&a=view&q=server+side+sorting] and
