BSP compression / length of session ID in portal

Hi everybody,
we are calling a BSP application from within the portal.
The HTTP compression does not work for the application.
When calling the BSP application outside the portal everything is ok. So the settings for the BSP itself must be ok.
What we found. This is the URL without portal:
http://.../sap(bD1lbiZjPTEwMCZkPW1pbiZ3PTEwMjgzNzAr)/bc/bsp/sap/cprojects/root.do
And this is the URL with portal:
http://.../sap(bD1lbiZjPTEwMCZkPW1pbiZwPTFodHRwJTNhJTJmJTJmZWxvc3ElMmViYXRnZW4lMmVjb20lM2E5MDIwJTJmaXJqJTJmcG9ydGFsYXBwcyUyZmNvbSUyZXNhcCUyZXBvcnRhbCUyZWRlc2lnbiUyZXBvcnRhbGRlc2lnbmRhdGElMmZ0aGVtZXMlMmZwb3J0YWwlMmZCQVQlMmZjb250cm9scyUyZmNvbnRyb2xzX2llNiUyZWNzcyUzZjYlMmUwJTJlMTUlMmUwJTJlMSZ2PTYlMmU0Jnc9Mzc0NjgyMCsmaT0xKyZzPVNJRCUzYUFOT04lM2FiYXRueGMwMV9OUFFfMD
AlM2FTSy1uRnZrcjNWdm9KWkJqblg2R2UyMmNibmlhZFpheWhQdkNYaWtNLUFUVA==)/bc/bsp/sap/cprojects/root.do
You see, the session ID is gigantic.
Q1: What should be the 'normal' length of the session ID?
Q2: Do you have any idea how to resolve this?
Thanks a lot for your help
Best regards,
Thorsten

Hi Paulo,
Make sure that your system is configured properly to handle HTTP Protocol.
I mean if your URL BSP page begins with http, you need to configure your system, within the portal, with http protocol.
Same remarks are available for HTTPS Protocol.
<b>Portal view point</b>
- To configure your system, within the portal go to :
System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape.
- Select the System you are using to connect to the backend
- Edit its property "Was Protocol"
<b>Backend view point</b>
Check that all your BSP pages have this property <i>"Unchecked"</i> :
Properties -> Transfer Options -> Https
Best regards. Allan.

  • Unique session key  weblogic portal 9.2

    Hi,
Is there a way I can generate unique session key to ensure correct session is tracking between every desktop with different user.
Is this right way to handle session in weblogic portal 9.2?

    Hi
what exactly do you want to do? A session does have an id which is guaranteed unique while the server is running (you dont need to do anything special for this). HttpSession.getId.
Note However normally this value gets stored as a cookie on the browser (with the default name of JSESSIONID) and you must ensure that different webapps on the same domain dont overwrite this value

  • Maximum number of sessions in the portal

    Hi,
Please, do you know the maximum number of sessions that a particular user can open in the portal 7 ?
and it´s posible to limit the number of sessions of a user
    thanks in advance.

    carlos,
you can set a maximum session limit for each web module. so, if you for example want to limit the number of sessions in your portal, you could do it for the Web Module "irj"
Use NWA and navigate to Configuration / Application Module

  • BSP session management in Portal

    Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is a Portal or BSP question...
I have several BSP Iviews in my portal, and when i'm navigating between the different iview, I'm getting a large number of session of type  "Pluggin HTTP" in SM04 transaction.
When the users logoff in the portal  some of the sessions aren't close.
    So I have two problems:
1- when the user is using the portal is there way of closing the bsp session when he moves to another iview?
2- why aren't all sessions been close?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help.

  • IView BSP open too many sessions

    I'm using SAP EP 6.0 NetWeaver 04 and SAP ERP 2005 : ECC 6.0.
I have create a BSP IView in my Portal to access an BSP application in SAP ERP 2005.
When I test it, the IView open too many sessions and then the ICM Server is not available. The server is Overload !!!
How can I configure the IView to open only one session ?
Have you got an idea ?
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Mathieu

    Hi Mathieu,
I am not very familiar with BSP iViews and BSP applications but you describe a problem that sounds quite familiar to me.
We were running a custom application on a SAP EP 6.0 NetWeaver 04. It happend that a short time after a user started to test the application the dispatcher crashed. The crash was caused by too many sessions requested by that single user. We could not explain where the session requests came from and did some investigation.
We observed that the problem occurred only if the user used the MS Internet Explorer 6.0, the request was routed via a certain proxy server (MS ISA Server) and the protocol used was HTTPS.
To analyze the problem try an alternative browser and have a look into your network. Try to route the request differently. Try another protocol.

    Martin

  • How to Sync the session timeout of Portal with CMS Server

    Hi Experts,
We have a custom application build on our portal which will launch the reports of InfoView. It works fine untill the portal session timeout. Whenever the session timeout occurs and reloads it I am unable to launch the reports and getting the below exception.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$OCAFramework: Unable to reconnect to the CMS server_ip:6400. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
Portal is configured with SSO. Please adviese how to set the settings of session timeout in such way that Portal sync  session timeout with CMS server.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chinaa.

    Hi ,
There is no such option to sync Portal timout with CMS server.
To resolve your problem you have only option to set your CMS server timout to MAX value.
    Thanks

  • How to use bsp application SYSTEM for session handling.

    Hi All,
We are implementing OCI.We have a few BSP applications that are called by standard ITS application.I need to destroy session at server side when the browser is closed for that..
I copied the pages session_default_frame.htm and session_single_frame.htm from bsp application SYSTEM into my application and made necessary changes.
I need to pass one url 'HOOK_URL' (this is related to OCI) from starting page of application to final page.
Now suppose earlier there were two pages in my application page1.htm and page2.htm , so i was able to pass the HOOK_URL from page1 to page2 but after adding the two pages from SYSTEM application , i can pass the HOOK_URL from session_single_frame.htm  to page1.htm
    Page session_single_frame.htm:
    Page attributes:
    hook_url     TYPE     STRING (AUTO)
    OnRequest:
    navigation->set_parameter( hook_url ).
but cant pass it from page1 to page2...what additional code is required?
    page page1.htm:
    Page attributes:
    hook_url     TYPE     STRING (AUTO)
    onRequest:
    navigation->set_parameter( 'HOOK_URL' ).
the above code was working fine until i added the two new pages to my application.
Hope i was able to explain the issue properly.
    Thanks,
    Anubhav.

    Hi,
Let me describe the steps i have taken oncw again:
1)Copy page session_single_frame and session_default_frame from SYSTEM application and changed the name in
DATA: target_page               TYPE STRING VALUE 'session_test.htm'.
    to
DATA: target_page               TYPE STRING VALUE 'mypage1.htm'
    2)Addes a page attribute HOOK_URL of type string (AUTO) to session_single_frame.htm .
    3)Added the line
    <i n p u t  t y p e="hidden" na m e ="HOOK_URL"  v a l ue = "< % =  hook_url %>">
to page1.htm so that hook_url is passd to page2.htm (page2.htm has a page attribute HOOK_URL of type string and auto).
The hook_url in page2.htm looks like:
    "http://sapupd.mycompanyname.com:8002/sap(cz1TSUQlM2FBTk9OJTNhc2FwdXBkX1NSTV8wMiUzYXJUaHBOdE1VZDdhWkVTa3hYZGtPTXRxY1NBTWo3VlAwN3NWQ2c2REYtQVRU)/bc/gui/sap/its/bbpsc02/?~OkCode=ADDI&~Target=_top&~Caller=CTLG&~sap-syscmd=NOCOOKIE&~client=200&~language=EN&~HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET=utf-8";
The problem is that after the page is submited , a blank page comes up .
On closing this blank page the "Endig user session" window comes.
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Anubhav.

  • Unable to set session in Oracle Portal useing reverse proxy

I have deployed a reverse proxy (using Oracle HTTP Server) in front of a Oracle Portal Install (version 10.1.2.0.2). The steps followed to set this up came from the following documents:
Steps mentioned in Section 9.2 Configuring a Reverse Proxy for OracleAS Portal and OracleAS Single Sign-On for a reverse proxy on a Oracle HTTP Server.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#ASTED005
Also performed steps mentioned in -> Section 5.3.7 - Step 7: Enable Session Binding on OracleAS Web Cache of the Oracle® Application Server Portal Configuration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) -- B14037-03.
My current (example names shown only)setup details are as follows:
Reverse Proxy for SSO server (running on internal.oracle.com:7777): proxy.oracle.com:7777
Reverse Proxy for Portal server (running on internal.oracle.com:7778): proxy.oracle.com:7778
With the above steps completed, I can successfully use the http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/pls/orasso for login into SSO without any issues.
    Users get authenticated successfully.
I can also use http://proxy.oracle.com:7778/pls/portal for viewing pages on the portal fine . All self referencing links have also been successfully modified to point to proxy.oracle.com:7778.
However, an attempt to login in the portal is not successful. Clicking on the 'Login' link successfully redirects to the SSO login page (http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/<login-page>). However, after successful authentication, the success page fails to show up and the user gets shown the initial login portal home page again.
There are no error messages shown on the screen. But it seems that user session is failing to be initiated/set correctly, as shown by the log file (in $PORTAL_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log ):

    Hi Chris,
The begin of the expection stack gives you the reason:
06/11/03 09:13:59 java.sql.SQLException: The method 'setSavepoint' cant be called when a global transaction is active
The reason is, that either the whole global transaction must be commited or rollbacked.
I don't know your actual configuration, but between the methods begin() and commit()/rollback() of the UserTransaction instance, OC4J/OracleAS uses a global transaction (= XA transaction) in your configuration. The state of a global transactions is completely under the control of the application server and several restrictions must be considered. One of them is, that you can't use the method setSavePoint/. E.g. you can't also call the method setAutoCommit(true) in this state, or change the transaction isolation level via setTransactionIsolation(newLevel).
This is NOT a limitation of the OC4J/OracleAS but is true for ALL application servers.
P.S. I can successfully set savepoints and rollback to savepoints in weblogic 9.0This means, that WebLogic 9.0 doesn't use a global transaction in this case.
Because I don't know your configurations (Oracle and WebLogic) I can't say, why the behave different in this situation.
    Best,
    Manfred

  • Issue with session management with portal 701 AFP

    Hi portal experts,
We are facing an issue with one of our portal 7 ehp1 running the AJAX framework pages.
When logging off, the DSM popup is shown and it disappears. However, the backend sessions are kept alive when we look in transaction SM12, which indicates that the backend session has not been closed (proven in transaction SM04)
The same issue arises when closing a popup window. In this case, no DSM popup is shown and the sessions are maintained as well.
    Popup blockers are disabled
Portal url and backend url are in the trusted sites collection
Does this have something to do with the AJAX framework?
Does anyone have any pointers for us?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Luk

    Hi Tom,
I already came across this note earlier. Currently I'm unable (not allowed) to install the httpwatch utility.
To add to the complexity, web dispatchers are used to access the portal and used between the portal and the backend systems. If I understood correctly, we need to have the ABAP Security Sessions Enabled setting turned on in this sort of landscape. Is this correct?
If it is not required, couldn't we just turn off this setting?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Session Sharing between Portal and Baja servlet(UIX)

    Hi guys,
I'm having real trouble trying to share a portal session with an external servlet session, in order to enable some file upload functionality. I found an older post (Re: cannot do a select on a table which mentioned a couple of pre-reqs for doing this, but they don't seem to work. I've enabled the the "Same Cookie Domain" checkbox. On checking the cookie values generated by portal, i noticed that none of them have a domain value:
    Cookie name :ORA_DG2 cookie//domain : null//cooki val :mrlMP%2F8%2FMP%2F8
    Cookie name :ORA_UCM_VER//cookie domain : null//cookie val :%2FMP%2F8pgqfg%2Cl_w_p%3Emp_ajc%2CamkMP%2F8neode*j%5Du%5Dn%3Ckn%5D_ha*_kiMP%2F80.3%2C005%2C21%2C%2F1MP%2F8.%2C1*..3*0%2F*-%2F
I tried setting my own cookie, but when I forward the request from portal to my (external) UIX servlet, a new session is created and all cookies are lost.
Dev env: ias102222, Jserv, with Portal 3.0.9.8
Any help will be much appreciated, I'm pretty much stuck on this one. The old post also mentioned a document to read (" See documents on session handling and Integrating Password Protected Applications into Oracle Portal - downloadable from portalstudio.oracle.com. "), but I've spent quite some time looking around on portalstudio, and haven't found it.
    thanks,
    rishi

    Hi,
As you suggested, I took the issue up with the Cabo team, and the conclusion seems to be that either it may be a jserv bug, or something to do with JPDK. the UIX redirection code simply uses HttpServletResponse.sendRedirectURL()) for doing its work.
Sorry about the long post, thought I'd give some more info about what i'm seeing. I hope I'm doing everythng that is needed for session mgmt in PDK. I've got the "Once Per Session" box and "Same Cookie Domain" boxes checked. This is what the jserv.log looks like :
    [01/05/2002 15:59:36:093 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Event = null
    [01/05/2002 15:59:36:093 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Parameter portalid=24935
    [01/05/2002 15:59:36:109 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Parameter [email protected]
I assume that the 'oracle.osf.UixServlet' above indicates the servlet zone, in which case the portlet UIX and the second UIX are both in the same zone. One thing i notice is that the domain cookie is always null. do it need to be explicitly set in order to have the correct value?
Here's the log from the time the first page is accessed, to the stuff printed out during the redirect. Note that 'sessid' changes after the redirect(revelent lines below are marked between '------'):

Again, i don't know how helpful this log is, but any pointers would be much appreciated.

  • Calling BSP application in same session

    Hi,
I am trying to arrange a few BSP pages into some sort of "BSP pool" so I can call them from different applications. Means: I want to create something like a few base objects to re-use in other BSP applications. My BSP applications have to be stateful - so when I embed those pool pages (using iframe or similar technology) I do get a new session and cannot share the model data. :-((
Is there any way of avoiding this session problem? Can I force a call to a new URL (on the same server) to re-use my previous session?
Interface method "IF_BSP_NAVIGATION->goto_page" sports a parameter "session", but this parameter does not what I would have expected when fed with the current session ID.
I could not find any documentation on the session handling in the WAS either. All I learnt is that a new session seems to be created whenever a URL with a different ICF path is called - even on the same server. If this is the case I will definitely have problems pooling BSP pages into a "toolbox" BSP application.
Sharing the model data via server-side cookies could be a way, but fails for object references (like class instances or data references).
Any experience with writing the model data (and references!) into ABAP memory to be re-used in the same GUI session (e.g. CIC)? That might be a workaround (?).
    Any hint greatly appreciated.
    TIA
    Peter

I can tell you what I have used in the pass to acomplish this: BSP Extension Elements or Reusable Controller classes.
BSP Extensions are really designed for just this kind of reusability.  You have static interface into and out of the extensions.  All the rendering is encosed in the extension, yet will be befored in-line in the rendering of the main page.  You don't have to worry about separate sessions, or the overhead of iFrames.
Another very similar approach is to create reusable controller classes.  Rendering logic can actually be placed in the controller as well (instead of calling a view). Brian McKellar has an SDN Weblog on how to use a controller class to build a pattern engine.
If you are really trying to create a reusable toolbox - then I highly suggest the Extension approach.  However I have done the sharing of model data between two applications.  I have an example here:
    /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/05/27/custom-bsp-extension-element-for-field-level-help
Basically I serialize the model class and write it into a server cookie.  Then I pass a unquie ID for that model instance to the second application.  It can then retrieve and deserialize the model.

  • How to create session varibales in portal application?

    Hi,
I want to declare a session varibale in my portal component.
    How do I do it?

    Hi Anagha Bhat,
There are two types of storage methods.
    1. Volatile - data can be lost when session ends => temporary
    2. Non Volatile - data storage is permanent
Session Objects as we know are for storing session variables and using them in other Dyn pages
    These methods are Volatile methods
Please check the below links for 4 different ways to store volatile data

  • Session Management in Portal

Is there any packages for managing the user sessions in Portal ? OR
How do Portal manages user sessions ?

There are session management examples for Java and PL/SQL portlets in the JPDK. There's a link to the JPDK off the OTN home page.

  • Get a session context at portal init time

I have code to read in a custom varpack file which runs at portal startup. I'd like to be able to query information from the database which I'll use in processing the config file, but it seems I need to have a session context in order to do this.
Is there a way to query the DB w/out a session context, or to create a session while processing a varpack?
    Thanks!

  • BSP Compression

We will be using a bespoke BSP application for HR Performance Management. There are already high Network turn around times and AccAd is being investigated. However we were also thinking of caching Mimes and activating the HTML Compression in the BSP pages.
Is this still necessary with AccAd?

    Hi Mike,
sure, sounds like a good fit - in general AccAD can improve the response times over WAN for BSP applications quite well. Whether you still enable caching static resources in the browser and compressing the pages, depends a bit on your overall infrastructure: Would this help LAN users as well? Are there any users in the WAN that will not be able to access the system via AccAD? Is it likely that there will be a small latency / bandwidth restriction between user and AccAD Client Front-End? If any of those concerns apply, then it might make sense to use those "tuning features" of the application itself. But in general, it's not a prerequiste for AccAD to enable this first.
    Best regards
    Jana
