Get a session context at portal init time

I have code to read in a custom varpack file which runs at portal startup. I'd like to be able to query information from the database which I'll use in processing the config file, but it seems I need to have a session context in order to do this.
Is there a way to query the DB w/out a session context, or to create a session while processing a varpack?
Thanks!

  • Session context getting expired

    Hi,
I am making a call from my application to other application.I am setting the session ctx in my application .
In my application i have a stateless session bean .If i do
    mySessionCtx.getCallerPrincipal().getName());
lets say I am getting xyz.
My bean calls different applications which are also stateless session bean.
when the client session bean authenticates it is getting UNAUTHENTICATED but not xyz.So it throws exception .
The session time out is configured from websphere as 30 min.
The session gets timed out after 30 min the context xyz vanishes. So client bean is getting UNAUTHENTICATED instead of xyz.
How can i configure session time out or context to exist for some time it in my code?
One work around is changing timeout in websphere .But I need to configure in my code either session timeout or making session context to exist more than 30 min.
    Thanks and Regards

    Siva,
There can be many factors for this: 'ClientSessionExpireMinutes'
Defines the length of idle time that can pass before Oracle BI Presentation Server removes the user's client (browser) session information from its memory. This session includes user-specific state information such as request cache - dashboard page state - subject area information -connection information - and so on.
Make sure while testing you are not doing anything on OBIEE browser window i.e. its idle
Also, try to increase the minutes to say 240 and check how much time it takes ...??
This shud solve..as this is very common problem with such tags..its not 100% guranteed !!

  • AuthD failed to get auth session

I have a new installation of portal, but something is not working properly (probably our changes to authentication service schemas and organization-level changes).

There are many reasons to get this error, following may be one of them
Scenario 1: Your directory server is not running
Scenario 2: The naming service not initialized because it could not find the server entry in the platform list, especially if you are running SSL enabled server makes sure you have added the correcsoponding platfrom entry with correct protocol. IF you have forgot to add , you can add it from Directory adminconsole
Scenario 3: In a multiserver installation sharing the same DS, you need to make sure you supply the correct encryption key of the server 1 while installing the second server. To quickly check both are matching check the serverconfig.xml of both servers should be identical
Scenario 4: You have installed the Identity against existing provisoned DIT and selected NO for question 'You want to load IS comapliant DIT' during isntallation. In this case you need to go through the postinstallation steps before accessing the adminconsole

  • Unable to get RequestDispatcher for Context

    Eclipse 3.3.0
    Tomcat 6.0.16
    Java 1.5.0_13
    Mac OS X 10.5.6
    Greetings:
I'm attempting to retrieve information cross context in my web application. I've attempted to enable cross context access by three means.
    - I've added "crossContext=true" to the <Context> element in the server.xml of the Tomcat configuration under the Servers project of my workspace.
    - I've added "crossContext=true" to the <Context> element in a META-INF/context.xml in the WebContent folder of my project.
    - I've added "crossContext=true" to the <Context> element of the context.xml file in the conf directory of the Tomcat installation directory.
Yet despite these changes I'm still seeing "Unable to get RequestDispatcher for Context....Verify values and/or enable cross context access" in the console. What do I need to do to enable cross context access using Eclipse? Thanks for any help.
ETA - I've had this working before. I believe that I upgraded to Tomcat 6 from Tomcat 5.5 and that's when the jstl cross context actions broke.
ETA - I've got it working in Tomcat 6. The problem arises when I change the name of my webapplication from "foo" to ROOT inside eclipse. I want a jsp page in the ROOT web application to be able to access a servlet in the "bar" web application.

    Thanks for your reply evnafets.
How many times do you declare your context???I know, I know... I got frustrated. :o)
But seriously, since my post I've discovered that it is "working" but not in the manner I had expected within the IDE. That is, if I access the page at
http://localhost:8080/ROOT/myPage.jspThen I can see the contents retrieved from the context bar. But if I use.
http://localhost:8080/myPage.jspI can see that the page somehow has been deployed to the root context, but the error code 500 appears in place of where the content from the bar context should be.
However, if I export war files for these two web applications and run them in Tomcat 6 outside of Eclipse, everything works as it should. So this is an eclipse issue with respect to deploying a web application to the root context. Maybe there is some configuration about that I must make somewhere.
    I hope that makes sense.
Anyhow, the server.xml file contains the following..
    <Context crossContext="true" docBase="bar" path="/bar" reloadable="true" source="org.eclipse.jst.j2ee.server:bar"/>
<Context crossContext="true" docBase="ROOT" path="/ROOT" reloadable="true" source="org.eclipse.jst.j2ee.server:ROOT"/>The jstl code in the jsp page accessing the context bar is the following.
    <c:import url='/helloworld?action=view' context='/bar' />

  • Portal Run time error after deploying custom logon page par file in portal

    Hi Experts,
We have customized the standard portal logon par file for client XYZ and imported it with the same name (com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par)  in portal.
It is working fine for XYZ . And another client ABC wants the same customization for them also. So we took the par file from XYZ and imported it in ABC system. But in ABC system, we are getting Portal Run time Error. When we checked the logs, it is showing error in LogonBean class.Wwe have included the necesary jar files. Could anyone help us in identifying what is missing?

  • Unable to set session in Oracle Portal useing reverse proxy

I have deployed a reverse proxy (using Oracle HTTP Server) in front of a Oracle Portal Install (version 10.1.2.0.2). The steps followed to set this up came from the following documents:
Steps mentioned in Section 9.2 Configuring a Reverse Proxy for OracleAS Portal and OracleAS Single Sign-On for a reverse proxy on a Oracle HTTP Server.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#ASTED005
Also performed steps mentioned in -> Section 5.3.7 - Step 7: Enable Session Binding on OracleAS Web Cache of the Oracle® Application Server Portal Configuration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) -- B14037-03.
My current (example names shown only)setup details are as follows:
Reverse Proxy for SSO server (running on internal.oracle.com:7777): proxy.oracle.com:7777
Reverse Proxy for Portal server (running on internal.oracle.com:7778): proxy.oracle.com:7778
With the above steps completed, I can successfully use the http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/pls/orasso for login into SSO without any issues.
    Users get authenticated successfully.
I can also use http://proxy.oracle.com:7778/pls/portal for viewing pages on the portal fine . All self referencing links have also been successfully modified to point to proxy.oracle.com:7778.
However, an attempt to login in the portal is not successful. Clicking on the 'Login' link successfully redirects to the SSO login page (http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/<login-page>). However, after successful authentication, the success page fails to show up and the user gets shown the initial login portal home page again.
There are no error messages shown on the screen. But it seems that user session is failing to be initiated/set correctly, as shown by the log file (in $PORTAL_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log ):

    Hi Chris,
The begin of the expection stack gives you the reason:
06/11/03 09:13:59 java.sql.SQLException: The method 'setSavepoint' cant be called when a global transaction is active
The reason is, that either the whole global transaction must be commited or rollbacked.
I don't know your actual configuration, but between the methods begin() and commit()/rollback() of the UserTransaction instance, OC4J/OracleAS uses a global transaction (= XA transaction) in your configuration. The state of a global transactions is completely under the control of the application server and several restrictions must be considered. One of them is, that you can't use the method setSavePoint/. E.g. you can't also call the method setAutoCommit(true) in this state, or change the transaction isolation level via setTransactionIsolation(newLevel).
This is NOT a limitation of the OC4J/OracleAS but is true for ALL application servers.
P.S. I can successfully set savepoints and rollback to savepoints in weblogic 9.0This means, that WebLogic 9.0 doesn't use a global transaction in this case.
Because I don't know your configurations (Oracle and WebLogic) I can't say, why the behave different in this situation.
    Best,
    Manfred

  • BT Home Hub Manager - how do I get a session start...

I'm a patient person but really ... I've been trying to get the d*** thing online so I can make some changes and I've veen waiting now for nearly three hours .... only 100 sessions allowed ... I had no idea I wouldn't be able to access my own router settings whenever I wanted when I signed up ... HELP!!!!
What must I do to get a session started?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    HELP!
I need to get this sorted .... I don't know who to contact at BT ... there doesn't seem to be anyway to phone anyone for any answers ................... Please can somebody give me some directions .... I actually have some work I'd like to get done .... and my new faster broadband ... while much faster ... isn't allowing me to access my Home Hub to set up my system according to MY needs.   Where else can I go for help????????
If nobody monitors or reads these posts ..... what's the point?   I may as well just hit my head of my wall as waste MORE of my time doing this!
PLEASE .... all I want is some answers and a point in the right direction ... maybe a phone number so I could talk to somebody technical would be helpful ..... I can't sit here ALL DAY waiting for some selfish b****** to close their idle session.

  • Unique session key  weblogic portal 9.2

    Hi,
Is there a way I can generate unique session key to ensure correct session is tracking between every desktop with different user.
Is this right way to handle session in weblogic portal 9.2?

    Hi
what exactly do you want to do? A session does have an id which is guaranteed unique while the server is running (you dont need to do anything special for this). HttpSession.getId.
Note However normally this value gets stored as a cookie on the browser (with the default name of JSESSIONID) and you must ensure that different webapps on the same domain dont overwrite this value
    regards

  • How to get a session identifier in Model project

How can I get any web session context identifier in a ViewImpl class?

    Tee hee hee deadlock.
Gho - there is no direct way to do so; perhaps you can explain the use case you are trying to achieve (for example, if you need the user name, there might be a quick and easy answer for you). The general answer is that you would pass in the information needed from the view layer (which does have access to the http session). If it's a bind variable you're trying to set, you can use an ExecuteWithParams binding in the view layer.
For more information, please provide your use case, and we'll try to help.

  • [svn:bz-trunk] 21394: bug fix for watson 2887837 Not getting duplicate session detected error when same flex client id is used from two different HTTP sessions in CRX .

    Log Message:
bug fix for watson 2887837 Not getting duplicate session detected error when same flex client id is used from two different HTTP sessions in CRX.
get the sessions id before we invalidate the duplicate session.
    Checkintests pass
    Modified Paths:
        blazeds/trunk/modules/core/src/flex/messaging/endpoints/BaseHTTPEndpoint.java

For our profect I think this issue was caused as follows:
Believing that remoting was full asynchronous we fired a 2 or 3 remote calls to the server at the same time ( within the same function ) - usually when the users goes to a new section of the app.
This seemed to trigger the duplicate http session error since according to http://blogs.adobe.com/lin/2011/05/duplication-session-error.html  two remote calls arriving before a session is created will cause 2 sessions to be created.
Our current solution ( too early to say it works ) is to daisy chain the multiple calls together .
Also there seemed to be an issue where mobile apps that never quit ( thanks Apple! )  caused the error when activated after a few hours.
I guess the session expires on the server and the error above occurs on activation.
So the mobile apps now ping the server with a remote call when activated after sleeping for more than one hour.
All duplicate http errors are silently caught and reported.
Fingers crossed we won't get any more!
