BT Sport Is An Utter Disaster

What the hell is going on?
I can no longer get BT Sport (initially, I could). Error messages. Advice on the site that doesn't work. Telephone 'support' that doesn't answer (again and again). The forum is chock-full of complaints. Nobody seems to be doing anything.
Are BT 'out' for the night? WTF is going on. BT WAKE UP!
Of course, we have no idea what BT are doing, or not doing. Because nobody is answering anything or saying anything to all those who have paid for the service they're not getting.
This is an utter disaster.
WAKE UP BT, WAKE UP! FFS.

  • E7 utter disaster of a phone, numerous issues.

    Wow.
Where do I even start with this phone.  I have been a life-long Nokia user, and although their products have never been "utterly amazing", they have allways been good.
    Until now that is.
    Faults with this phone:
Randomly locks up for no clear reason, needs a hardware restart to get working again.
Randomly has multiple touchscreen inputs.  I've watched the phone start pressing it's own buttons before, and while this happens, the touchscreen is completely unresponsive.
Micro A-B socket is now very dodgy, connector has to be at *just* the correct angle, or it won't charge or connect to anything....
... made worse by the horrendously bad battery life, and the fact that you can ONLY charge by USB socket, so it's plugged in almost as long as it's not.
Randomly refuses to connect to a nokia in-car-hands-free by bluetooth.
Finally fed up, and got a replacement under warrantee from Vodaphone.
Replacement one had better work properly!
Am I the only person with these problems?

    Hi, metal_might.
About Nokias attitude to its customers, I can only agree with you. They have a seriously broken setup where communication do not work at all, and where all users feels like Nokia just don't care. I can't remember a single company with such a bad relationship with their customers, and such dysfunctional communication.
As for specific issues: Zooming for me means zooming on the phone/page/whatever. Not a change of font size. Zooming thus should not change layout of the shown document. I'm *zooming*. Compare to a camera. If I zoom in on a subject, things on the sides are lost, they are not magically moved around to still stay in the picture. What you want is something I'd say is more like changing the font size, which will force a reformatting of the layout to keep the text on the screen but still give you more readable text. I suspect you might be able to find this in the phone settings, where you can set the font size. However, web pages are sometimes notoriously tricky, since they might actually specify a font size, and thus not really care about the font size you set up on the system.
The fixed focus camera is not an Anna issue, but a hardware design that Nokia chose for the E7. It's something that can never be fixed. This isse (I'm afraid) is only something you have yourself to blame for. It is given information in the hardware specs for the E7 phone. It is not a software issue at all. The reason for Nokia going this way was to keep the E7 thinner, since a focus system takes more physical space inside the phone. Once you have a focus system, the performance and behaviour of autofocus is a software issue, but if you don't even have the hardware, you will never be able to.
Screen resolution is really the same thing. It was something you should have known when buying the phone. It's not a software issue. However, I must say that personally I find the resolution to be more than enough, and I don't understand people who want a higher resolution. I have several devices with higher resolution screens, and it don't make any difference to my eye.
ppi is just another aspect of the same thing. It don't make a difference if I'd have a higher ppi. My eye cannot make use of such a high resolution on such a small screen anyway.
As I mentioned before, for me, loudspeaker phone is not something I have even tried. I use headphones normally, so I don't know if the E7 is better or worse than any other phone. I've tried speaker phones on a few other phones in the past, and it have never been useful for me on any phone. I suspect I wouldn't be happy with the E7 in that aspect either, but it just means it's the same as all other phones (for me).
Fixed battery. I thought a little about that one, but honestly, I have not ever replaced the battery on any of the last three phones I used, so it's more or less a non-issue. I have pulled the battery numerous times to reset my N97 in the past (you want to talk about a buggy phone that Nokia pretend don't exist, we should talk about that one). But since the E7 can be reset/restarted without pulling the battery, that's an improvement.
Battery life: It definitely is enough for my use. I have several android phones. If you want to talk about battery life, those have real issues...
All phones, like all products in general, have compromises. My biggest gripe is not with the phone, which I am pretty happy with (something I didn't expect to ever say again about a Nokia phone after having the N97). But Nokia as a company is so messed up I can't even start addressing it. They are horrible at customer contact. Horrible at customer information. And they are horrible at supporting their own phones. Their only good thing is that they make good phones to start with. But quality have been dropping on the software side the last few years.
Anyway, that is my two cents on this.

  • Okay caching is an utter disaster

Lord... really now... this caching issue is just an utter mess. Can you not get your pages to clear out of the .Mac cache any other way than totally blowing away your WHOLE FREAKIN SITE??? grrrrrrrrr I had an Apple genius inform me there's a fix coming for this, but AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
This is not an issue with my browser cache so please avoid telling me to do that. If you have any tricks for clearing the server cache, please let me know.
    Thanks :-\
    Suzanne
    http://www.11mystics.com
P.S. I did delete and rebuild a number of my pages, but since I named them the exact same name as the original, I don't think the cache cleared.

    If you have any
tricks for clearing the server cache, please let me
    know.
The page I see says "March 11 2006 1 minute ago". Is that not the right one?

  • Printer Install failure for Canon or HP printer  - utter disaster

One day, several months ago, I decided to unplug my working Canon iP6700d from my Imac Duo Core (all updates installed).
I plugged it into a Windows computer - where it works fine - I tried using it again on my iMac... and IT NEVER WORKED AGAIN ON THE IMAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried everything those people at Canon recommended - over and over I uninstalled the Canon software, etc. etc. Logged in as ROOT user and tried it... etc. etc.
Then I even tried my HP Printer at work - brought it home. Tried to install it to my iMac. Realized?
IT'S NOT THE CANON PRINTER!!!! REPEAT: IT'S NOT THE PRINTER!!!
IT'S THE MAC! IT WON'T INSTALL THE HP PRINTER EITHER!
So - I stopped trying to use my new-ish iMac to print.
    End of story.
    That *****.
As usual, with computers - these problems take hours to resolve and waste parts of days.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
So tell us what you do to maintain your Mac? What is your routine daily, weekly and monthly? What do you do after software updates? What do you normally do to troubleshoot Mac OS X issues?
Is all of your software up-to-date? Is your firmware up-to-date? How much RAM do you have?
PS - All caps is yelling here in the Apple Discussions! We know that your are upset, but yelling won't help.

  • InDesign CC slow, laggy, unusable, disaster

Just updated to CC on our Macs at work just to find out InDesign is now an utter disaster.
(And don't give me that crap like: "...it draws 4 times as many pixels as a lower resolution display...". Illustrator doesn't have this issue and the GFX cards are more than capable of handling this. So it all comes down to extremely poor programming and testing before publishing.)
We have both retina and non-retina Macs at work which are now close to unusable. You basically force us to upgrade to CC if we want retina for InDesign. However no testing of usabilty seems to have been made before publishing this. Simple things like scaling a colored box and scrolling are laggy as hell. EVERYTHING is laggy. And try setting up a small eight-page folder with pics, vectors and text... This will be even more fun when I have to make Magazines or books...
Considering the whole damn advertising industry is counting on Indesign, what the hell were you people thinking when releasing this? Everything will take almost twice as long thereby be twice as expensive for our clients. Try explaining that without loosing projects/clients...
"Myeah we will now charge you double because Adobe forced us to update their software for our state of the art Macs, so they now appear slower than our Win 95 PC..." - What the fudge? We use and depend on this single program everu single day!
Also, another minor detail: I can't seem to make my usual keyboard shortcut for "next window". Or actually I'm able to make the shortcut - it just doesn't work when hitting the keys... (CTRL+Tab).
I just can't believe you are getting away with this extremely poor update. All I can use InDesign CC for right now is opening newer files and exporting them as IDML for our CS 5.5... If our software department would release stuff like this to our clients they would have been asked to go look for a new job. You are Adobe and basically (and sadly) have a monopoly in this industry - don't screw over all your customers just because you can.
Go buy your friends at Illustrator a cup of coffee and please let them help you. You need all the help you can possibly get.
    FIX IT.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Michael. When you START your first posting with these phrases...
"don't give me that crap like"
"what the hell were you people thinking "
    "What the fudge"
"don't screw over all your customers"
...you're really not asking reasonable adult questions, you're venting emotion for the sake of venting.
This is a user-to-user forum. You're not addressing the people at Adobe who make decisions. You're addressing some hard working volunteers who are InDesign users like you who are trying to help other people.

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 ,experience full of dissapointmen...

First of all, I was very eager to switch to Windows Phone and I am not a hater. It is a gem in a lump of coal.
Buying a phone is not that easy for me from financial reasons. Since Lumias are hard to get to in my country I got my hands on an unbranded unpacked Lumia 1520. A friend of my bought it from another country for me. I was very hyped about it and even throught out the issues I've faced i still am.
I never dropped my phone and I always kept it safe and secure. There is not a dent on it.
After a few weeks the side buttons of the phone started to lose their hardness and begin to flunk in the body.
I managed to ignore it since they all were working.
The earpiece speaker is an utter disaster. When set 5/10 the speaker is cracking.
And than came the screen. While in the task manager / switch apps window i noticed that the black rectangular windows leave a trace, something like contrast issues.  That started to bug me. It was a new phone and the screen already failed me.
After that i noticed that on a white background i can see several brighter spots on the screen. Something like small screenburns. My  love for Windows Phone kept me going even with those issues.
    Than came Lumia Denim....
Not to keep the text longer, my headphones started not to work properly since the update. The phone started to make *clicking* sound through the speaker.
The Wifi lost almost all funcionality. Speed was ridicously slow and losing connection all the time. In the Cyan version the Wifi worked great. It was so weak that I couldn't activate and restore my phone after factory reseting.
    That was it for me.
Since I live in a third world country and Microsoft's support is almost non-existant and the services too I nearly couldn't setup a payment method to purchase apps. And the official nokia service center does not accept the warranty on the phone since it is bought from another country  i cannot return it.
I really really tried to love windows phone and the lumia product line. I don't feel angry at this point. I feel utterly dissapointed. I feel betrayed. I migrated every single service i use in my private and work life to Microsoft services.
PS: Please let there be a DWG viewer for Windows Phone. For God's sake symbian had a dwg viewer.

Sounds to me like the charger you are using is not powerful enough. Are you using the charger that came with the phone? You mentioned adaptors etc so thought you may be charging with another charger. You could also try charging with high output usb chargers, typically ones for tablets.

  • 10.8.2 Mountain Lion Update Causes Major Problems

I'm running an early 2009 iMac and I made the jump to Mountain Lion about a month ago. Initial upate ran OK, I had some problems but overall it ran pretty decently. I held off on updating to 10.8.2 because I wanted to see if it caused any issues, but decided to go ahead about a week and a half ago. Since then, my computer has had daily problems. To name a few, my computer completely crashes when going into sleep mode and will not return, the sound frequently disappears and goes unrecognized. iTunes has been an utter disaster - I have an iPod classic, which as soon as I plug in causes iTunes to crash. I've had similar issues with my iPhone 4. Airplay drops regularly when I never had that issue prior. Homesharing in particular causes iTunes to crash, which was working infrequently as of just yesterday.
I've had quite a few issues, which over the past few weeks has rendered my iPod classic and old iPhone completely useless as I cannot sync them to put music on them (I restored iPod to see if that would fix it, but it didn't. So now I have an empty iPod that won't sync). And the workaround of using homeshare was viable as an alternative, but now does not work at all. Connecting to my Apple TV takes 5-10 times longer than it previously did, and the connection occasionally drops. I used all these features with a regularity which makes this extremely frustrating.
Not sure if Apple plans to fix this with iTunes 11 update, but I'm hoping something will come about soon. I called support to inquire about downgrading back to Snow Leopard, but the guy on the phone convinced me to reinstall the OS, which I did. It has not solved any of my issues (although I was finally able to update my iPhone 4 to the latest firmware, it will still not sync or do Homeshare). Any ideas how I could solve these problems? These all started happening the day I updated to 10.8.2 and, as I said, I hadn't experienced anything like them previously.

I have done that, several times.
So this is where I'm at now - last night, immediately after finishing a movie that was on my WD hard drive, which holds all of my media, music, movies - I restarted my computer and then it would not read the drive. It said it was unreadable.
I brought the Mac and the drive into an apple store today - they said basically it was my hard drive causing the issues. I used my iPod classic as my media back up as the 160 gb could hold all my stuff. Well, as I mentioned previously, that can't sync and I restored it, with no success. So in essence I lost my media drive and the back up. Tough to swallow, I'm angry, I think it's still mountain lion causing the drive to fail.
So I resolved to go home and restore my computer to one of my time machine back ups and do a Snow Leopard reinstall. Well, the moment I returned from the apple store, the time machine drive is now listed as unreadable. I called support, spent hours with them - I now have two drives which fried within 10 hours of each other in the same error. The senior support manager agreed it sounds like mountain lion is indeed corrupting my drives somehow. My iMac currently won't start into the recovery disk. So I went out spent $200 to get a new hard drive, which I am now backing up my data onto with a new Time machine.
In the last week, I've lost my iPod classic, iPhone 4, two external hard drives and now possibly even the Mac itself. I'm going to install snow leopard and see if it alleviates any of my issues, or hopefully can read my drives. I truly believe Mountain Lion is the problem.

  • How to Remove Outlook from My Computer

I have a MacBook Pro and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011.  For some reason, a popup window for Outlook is now on my desktop asking for a password to register my product.  I don't want to use Outlook...don't need to use Outlook.  I just want
this popup window closed and the Outlook software closed.  However, the Outlook software is not allowing me to close it.  In fact, there is no option to close it.  The only option that I have is to register the product...and it's not allowing
me to exit out of that.
The bigger problem is that this popup window for Outlook is preventing me from shutting down my computer.  Every time I try to shut down my computer, I get an error message saying that Microsoft Outlook will not allow the computer to shut down.
There is absolutely no way around this dang popup window and I want it gone.
I've tried going through every possible option on the Microsoft Office website, enter the product keys for my Office for Mac, everything and nothing will resolve the problem.  Please help to fix this!  Microsoft Office for Mac is an utter disaster
in every sense of the word...so much so that I will never buy another Mac.  However, this computer is less than one year old and is now essentially useless because the Microsoft Outlook has essentially prohibited me from doing various things with my computer...and
I don't want or need Outlook.  I just want it gone...but it has prohibited me from uninstalling it on my computer because it is frozen "in use" in this ridiculous pop up window!!!

You should really post this question in the forum dedicated to Office for Mac which will likely result in a much faster/better answer since this forum is for Windows based Outlook.

  • What happened to the Leopard on Powerbooks so far thread ???

What happened to the Leopard on Powerbooks so far thread ???
Where did it go ? Even my post is missing.

Well, I can tell you what happened with my neighbors - a complete and utter disaster. It just won't install. I went so far as to reinstall Panther for her (so she can have a working computer) and then try to archive and install. Failed. There's a post about it in the 10.5 forum/installation and set up. It really *****. I don't know what else to do. She's supposed to pay for a license and now, if she doesn't, I'm left holding one with nowhere to put it. Maybe I can just sell it.
This is not cool for Apple. I don't know what they didn't do right, but it ***** and is very disappointing. It's worse because I'm up and running with it on my MacBook so I feel bad for her.

  • CS4 is adding a blank page, throwing off the printing

    I am creating a 40-page booklet to be printed 2-up saddle-stitch
In the Pages layout, it says i have 40 pages in 21 spreads. 1 page on the top is the front cover and 1 page on the bottom is the back cover and 19 double-page spreads inbetween. Pages 2 and 39 are the respective inside covers. Page 1 is aligned on the right and page 40 is aligned on the left. It should be printing fine, I would think.
But in the Print Booklet-Preview Pane, it gives a message that it has added 1 blank page to creat the booklet, and it was added before page one, so I now have no back cover, and my inside covers and page layouts are all wonky now.
I noticed that in the Pages flyout there is a small square to the right of Page 40, where page 41 would be. A small square that I can't highlight.
A few more items of interest, all pages have both Allow Document Pages to Shuffle and Allow Selected Spreads to Shuffle checked.
I am at a total loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that everyone here is a volunteer. Most of the regulars, like myself, drop in at least once a day, as we have time, and offer advice and solutions when we have them.
That said, I saw your post when it first was listed, and saw that you seemed to finding your way, and didn't have anything more to add at that point, as I suspect was the case with a lot of others. I'm sorry it never occurred to me to ask if you had any blank pages in the document, but there was nothing in the original post to suggest that, and including blank pages in a booklet print job is a pretty standard thing to do. If you know enough to have already added blanks to fix the page count, one would presume you also know enough to include them in the print job.
As far as the forum organization, we're about to go into a new version of the forum software, and many of the regulars are looking on that with some trepidation. Most of us actually LIKE the way things are now -- functional and uncluttered with extraneous nonsense like avatars and ratings points -- but it seems much of that is going to be creeping in. An attempt to unify the Adobe and Macromedia forums last year was an utter disaster, and we've all got our fingers crossed it won't happen again, but we'll be living with it no matter what as the Webcrossing contract is up and Adobe has signed on with Jive. You might want to take another look when the changeover is complete.
And, I'll repeat, these forums are probably the BEST source of FREE and accurate expert information on Adobe applications on the planet. You'll find users (and even some Adobe employees) from all over the world with vast experience in some pretty esoteric and specialized techniques. I find I still learn something new almost every week, and I've been making my living with InDesign since version 2.0 was released. I hope you'll come back if you have more questions.

  • TenFourFox issues with computer date/time

I had an interesting problem tonight which I fixed and can replicate whenever I feel like. On my old Powermac I run TenFourFox which is what I assume most are doing.
The battery in my Powermac needs to be replaced, but I almost never unplug the computer so I'm never worried about the computers time, as it is always right.
Tonight I had to unplug it and when I started it up I got the "wrong time" notice but I mostly ignorred it. Everything worked well and then I tried using TenFourFox...it was an utter disaster.
It was slow, unreponsive and overall unuseable to say the least. After a lot of thinking I set the time right and it worked again, as it had before.
So after this I set the time wrong again and sure enough, TenFourFox before unuseable.
Does anyone know if there are any known issues with TenFourFoxx in the department? Could someone else try this? (Just set your clock back a few days and try to open TenFourFox)
I'm curious if I've found an issue with the app because I know for a fact ti's not hardware issues.

Running v 5.0 here, no problem in TFF changing the Time backwards, but Safari wouldn't work here until I cleared the Caches.
Some Servers are Date/Time critical & consider anything trying to connect reporting the Time off by more than a minute will refuse connections.

  • IDT high definition audio not working

Maybe I'm just unlucky i don't really know. But Win 8.1 has been an utter disaster for me i hate the interface and the myriad problems with drivers and giving permission to certain files even though you turned UAC off. Anyway my latest woe is now i have no sound, it was working fine this morning and when i came back to it all i get is scratchy sound. the on board sound is IDT high definition audio and windows says the device is working just fine. The scratchy sound is still there through my Roccatt headset when i unplug the speakers so it must be the sound card methinks. But can it BE when windows says its working fine?Tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling all to no avail still the problem persists. even tried to restore the computer to an earlier time but the problem still remains in fact i have no sound its just scracthy noise.Running win 8.1 64bit HP Pavillion 500-081A any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi merlin851526,
Sorry to hear about your experience with Windows 8.1 I will be happy to help you with your sound problem. I have two different options for you to try. I know that you have already tried reinstalling the drive but try the driver I have linked below. It has helped others resolved their sound issues with 8.1. I have also included a link to the Microsoft FixIt Tool to fix sound issue with Windows 8. To be honest I am not sure if it supports Windows 8.1 but it is worth a look.

  • Talking about disk reliability...

This topic seems to come up with some regularity, what are reliable disk drives and which seem to cause problems?
I can't answer that question ( I'm a mere end-user, not a repair shop owner), but I can share what I have experienced in many years of video editing with many kinds of different disks.
Seagate SCSI 10K 36 GB disks. I once bought a 5 disk enclosure with these disks and within one year 2 disks died. Got them exchanged under warranty, but again the next one failed (no longer under warranty) and then the next one. I finally decided to get rid on all of them, they were not reliable. Era: 1995- 1998.
Samsung F1 1 TB disks. Have 16 of them and  only one failed in three years time, exchanged under warranty. Era: 2008-now.
Seagate 7200.11 1.5 TB disks in a NAS. Had 7 of them and within three years 12 failed, first 5 of them, replaced under warranty, then the next 5 not under warranty, then the next 2 failed. An utter disaster.
Hitachi 5K series 1 TB, Had 6 of them and 2 failed under warranty. No problems since.
Maxtor 500 GB (don't remember the model). Had 4 of them and two died of old age after 4 years. Era: long ago.
Seagate Constellation ES 1 TB. Have 25 of them and no problems yet. Eras: 2012-now.
I have used an occasional WD drive, but they died usually within 2 years, but then we are talking about the last century, so it is no longer relevant now.
This does not give hard evidence about what to buy, but if people can weigh in with their experiences, it may lead to some conclusions of what is reliable and what is not.

About 5 years ago I had two Western Digital 250Gig drives fail in a "short" time... I think one in the 1st month and the second within 3 months
Looking at the dates and locations on the drives (I had bought both at the same time) they were made in the same week at the same location
WD replaced both drives (which ran fine, I later sold that computer when I built a new one) and never did tell me "exactly" what happened... but based on my reading of the drive labels, I "presumed" that the plant had a box of bad components
I have never had any more problems with WD drives

  • I DON'T RECOMMEND UPGRADING TO iOS4 IF YOU HAVE AN iPHONE 3G!

iOS4 has ruined my iPhone 3G! It has been a complete and utter disaster. One of the many problems has to do with the contacts. My iPhone 3G runs extremely slow, shuts off randomly, and has no contacts. All of which make a "smart phone" not so smart!
My advice is wait for the "fixes" or just get the iPhone 4. There are only a few features and advantages to the iOS4 upgrade with an iPhone 3G. Trust me, it's not worth it! This is not what I expect from Apple. The bigger they get the more they remind me of Microsoft.
To say that I'm upset is an understatement!

    Couldn't agree more!
took 3+ hours to download/install, all for what?!
So I can organize my apps now into folders, that in some ways make it HARDER to find the apps -- which folder did I put that one in again?
For a new "dock" that doesn't distinguish the docked apps well from the rest on the screen?
For the ability to edit iPod playlists (which isn't so easy to navigate through)?
For a unified inbox that doesn't mark emails as "read" after I've looked at them?
My 3G is running SLOW AS MOLASSES now, and keeps acting "buggy" with almost all apps.
Trust me, it's not worth it. In fact, I told my wife, who also has that now "ancient relic" known as a 3G, not to update her software. There's nothing wrong with the current 3G software that needs to be "updated" with 4.0.
Apple did this last year -- I remember my performance on my 3G suffered after the release of the 3GS and its 3.0 OS. I think I just got used to the slow performance. They came out a few weeks later with some "fixes," but I still say my 3G ran its best right out of the box (with the old 2.0 software).
The new 4.0 software is designed for the iPhone 3GS & 4, NOT the 3G!

  • Speeding up my CS5.5 windows system

    Hi
I was wondering how I best would bennifit from adding a SSD disc into my system. I have a WD raptor 10k rpm disc as boot disc and 3 WD blacks 7.2k 1TB discs, but I was thinking that maybe rendering would bennifit from an SSD disc?
    Thanks.

    Ulf,
A better approach would be to add another WD Black and then configure those 4 disks in two raid0 arrays. SSD's are overrated in their performance. See Adobe Forums: The SSD myth unraveled
The Sandforce controller seems to be an utter disaster when is comes to reliability and you may be lucky to achieve write speeds of 70 MB/s, far less than conventional disks, with uncompressable data like video material, if your SSD still lives. This despite their unreliable marketing claims of 500 MB/s plus.
IMO SSD's are still a no-go, even when conventional hard disks have doubled in price in the last months.
