BTFON support 24/7 Helpdesk closed no mention o...

Just started to think about using FON  service as it has been magically enabled on my Homehub.
I need my orginal email  and password to login, this has been lost in the mists of time  as just use BT as a connection.   Found this on bt website
"To get your BTinternet username please call             0800 111 4567      , select option 1 and follow the instructions. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will need your account number and the number of the line you have BT Total Broadband on. You can find both of these on your bill. "
Armed with the number and details  rang to be told that it was not open , no helpful information about opening hours. Anyone advise when it is actually open ?
Also maybe a moderator could advise why this infromation is still up at http://btsupport.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11001/c/1812,1820
Also tried another support number with the same effect

That is just brilliant.... though I am not for thinking that they might do something like that.
I know of a number of companies that supply vectors in that format ... which of course happens to be the one I use and have a fair amount invested in.
Ah well ... silly me.
Guess Adobe just lost a customer, too.
I should have caught it ... and I get it about supporting odd formats ... but EPS as "odd" and not worthy of support?
Please.
Thanks to those who answered.
Sorry, as a layouter with InDesign I have more problem with those peopele who deliver me eps and cmyk files. So I am very happy when more and more application stop to export eps. It is a file format which is not needed any more. Who will save as eps?
eps is a lossy old file type. If someone works with vectors he should use pdf or ai. Not eps. Please forget eps !

  • Opened support case, they keep closing, problem not solved and they won't respond

I opened a support case with adobe for thier digital editions program and they would answer once and close the case without seeing if the answer worked. I reopened the case again when the fix didn't work and gave them more info, including text of the error, and asked that they read everything that has been done and reply again. They replied again and only answered part of my problem (how to deauthorize my computer) not how to fix the original problem that is STILL not fixed, and closed the file AGAIN. So I again reopened the case and asked them not to close the case until they see if the solutions they offer work and to look over info and what I have done so far and to please help me fix my problem. Now I don't get any answer since friday. This support is laughable!! I guess we know why the program is free. If given the option I will never BUY anything from adobe.

I have the same problem. I keep my MacBook stationary. I don't really carry it anywhere, and if I do I use a padded case and protect it well.
It's a first gen MacBook. It came with the old case. The old case cracked and stained, and I had it replaced (50 dollars).
Now, it's out of warranty, and when they replaced it, it wasn't the new style case. (fixed weak case tightening issues, cracking, and staining) It was the old style case. Once again it's cracked on the edges, staining badly (I constantly clean it using the recommended instructions from the website. It's white for about a few days...), squeaks, popping up on the edges, and feels really weak.
I don't know how to contact Apple to explain my problem without going to the store (bit of an issue right now). My MacBook has felt weak and fragile from the day I bought it almost 2 years ago compared to others who own one. The case replacement at first appeared to help, but it hasn't changed anything now. I haven't done anything to it.

  • Does Adobe Captivate 7 or 8 support japanese characters in closed captions

Our Japanese team would like to translate the scripts we are using for our videos and have us apply the translation in the closed captions section. However, will Adobe 7 or 8 support Japanese Characters?

I also agree with your suggestions but posting them here on this forum is of very little use.
If you want any chance of having them taken seriously by Adobe, this is where you need to post them:

  • Premiere CC support Closed Captions with mpeg2, mpg, ts import and export embedded

Using a side-car file is not an option. This question is about embedded closed caption files.
Will Adobe Premiere Creative Cloud support the import of closed captioned data from already captioned mpg, ts, mpeg2 video files, and will it support the export of mpg, ts, mpeg2 video with closed captions embedded? If they are adding this feature, do you know when? At least a rough estimate?
I create content that broadcasts ON DEMAND for major cable television providers and currently we are working with Mac Caption/ Caption Maker and Manzanita to individually caption each video. We need the ability to take the finalized captioned content and occasionally cut sections out and replace with other finalized captioned content. We wanted to do this without needing to RE-Caption every video after we export from Premiere, as that will add many additional hours of work per video.
Researching online I found that CC supports the import and export of embedded QuickTime closed captioned files. Our provider's standards are mpg/ts. One youtube video I found said that Adobe was adding mpeg2/ts support for closed captioning but I can not find any official word on the subject.
I appreciate any and all help/information on the subject.

  • Reinstalled iPod BTFON app won't let me log in

After much frustration with trying to connect to BTFON and Openzone hotspots using the BTFON app on my iPod Touch 4 (the usual "temporarily unavailable", "out of memory", "no connection to the internet" stuff) and trying all the tips suggested by others (closing background apps, forgetting the network etc) in desperation I decided to try deleting the app and reinstalling it.  Now it won't accept my login details although they are correct.  I also tried reinstalling via Sync from my computer - same result.  I've tried clearing the login and password fields in the app, still the problem exists.
I've emailed BTFON support and received no reply save a request to fill in their customer satisfaction survey, and rung the helpline and got cut off.
    So can anyone help please?!!
    Thanks

  • Nvidia with support for xorg 7.1 is out!

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_disp … -8774.html
    AIGLXAIGLXAIGLXAIGLXAIGLX! :-D :-D

Even a bleeding edge distro like Arch has to be careful about upgrades. We want to be up to date, but at the same time we don't want to worry that a "pacman -Syu" is going to hugely break our systems without warning. Anyone running an Nvidia card would have been awfully upset when their chosen distribution chose to break their previously flawless 3d acceleration. Given that it was reasonable to assume that Nvidia would produce a driver fairly soon (as indeed they have) I have no problem with the fact that the decision was made to delay the transition for a little while.
Surely if Nvidia had broken their tradition of above average Linux support the move to X.org 7.1 would have been made regardless. I don't think the plan was ever to wait "as long as it takes."
I like open source software a lot myself. If my every whim were to be satisfied, running a completely free-as-in-freedom system would near the top of my list. However, nothing ever gets done without compromise. A person has to give as they take. They give a driver, and we give by relaxing our principles a little. Is that wrong, or is that cooperation?
Stiff positions with no wiggle room don't solve problems or get you what you want. They start wars. Obviously a war over device drivers is what they call "unlikely", but the same mistrust, ill wishes, and lack of progress that wars entail are what you'll get. You've got to examine the trade-offs, and make a decision on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes you just can't work with the other guy. Much more often, you can.
The question is whether what Nvidia is doing is so awful and anti-freedom that we can't let it slide. You contend that it is, and if we use their system we'll be trapped in a hell of proprietary drivers and vendor-controlled computers. I contend that you're probably wrong.
It seems preferable to control your life completely. Do what you want, when you want. Sounds nice. In the real world we depend on others for nearly everything in our lives. There is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when the others we depend on attempt to force unfair terms on us. Nvidia isn't doing that. It's not unfair to keep their driver secrets to themselves. It's not the most generous thing to do, but none of us are as generous as we could be. Self-interest is par for the course in human affairs.
There is such a thing as "free enough" and it falls short of a completely open system. "Free enough" is different for everyone, but for me running a system which is entirely free software except for a few well-supported drivers is free enough to get by. Nvidia isn't stopping me from using my computer as I want. In fact, they're helping me to do it, by providing functional drivers that don't attempt to control me (as DRM software does, for example).
Would a fully free system be better? Possibly. I would like it better. More important though, is to say *why* it would be better. If the driver in question behaves like a "by us, for us" driver would, is available gratis, and comes with no odious restrictions, where is the problem? If they give us what we would make ourselves (or better), why complain?  Because using free software gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling that proprietary software can't match. We like to feel "in control" of our computers even when that control would buy us nothing.
There are cases in which it's better not to be beholden to your vendors. Unsupported and poorly supported hardware is trouble. In that case, "open source or we won't buy" is completely appropriate. That company doesn't take care of its customers. Well-supported hardware? Not so much. Paranoia about running proprietary code rears its head. We're afraid of losing control over our systems, because we don't trust these evil proprietary corporations. After all, they're not with us, so they must be against us, right? Wrong. Nvidia isn't the enemy. They're a company that makes a product, and we are their customers. They've shown through their actions that they care about us enough to support us. That could change, but so could a lot of things. No one can be in your corner all the time. For the time being, Nvidia is.
In an interdependant world, ultimatums are nothing more than sand clogging up the machinery of society. There are freedoms that we should under no circumstances surrender, and there are those which we can trade, for our long term or short-term good. The freedom to control our computers? Let's hold on to that one. The freedom to modify every single piece of software on the computer? Maybe being able to modify nearly every single piece of it is enough, as long as we are free to add or remove the unmodifiable software as we wish.
Deciding where to draw the line is a hairy question. Unfortunately, dodging that question by adopting an absolutist philosophy isn't an option. One extreme leaves you with no control over your computer. The other sounds nice until you remember that most of the world does not want to operate like you do. If you won't work with others, then they won't work with you. Big companies don't come around to your way of thinking just because they like you.
I mention Nvidia a lot, because they're the topic of the day. Other situations are different, which is my entire point. One-size-fits-all answers are wrongs answers.
Each situation must be evaluated according to its own merits. Sometimes "good enough" is good enough. I'd say this is one of those times.
markzzzsmith wrote:If you think I'm a open source "zealot", and binary and proprietary device drivers are quite ok, then I'm afraid you just don't get what open source is actually about. Linux wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for a very large number of manufacturers opening their programming specifications. I know this to be a fact, I've been using it since 1992, many years before the first binary driver showed up. The only way we could run it in those days was to use hardware with open programming specifications. If you're now using Linux with proprietary drivers, you're now supporting the idea of closed hardware specifications, which would have prevented Linux's birth in the first place. Would you much rather have not had Linux available ? Encouraging vendors to close their specifications by accepting that decision and continuing to buy their hardware will cause that to be the eventual result.
I think you're too uncompromising: that's what I think. I'm very glad that many manufacturers have made it possible to produce free software drivers, and that we have the Linux we have today.
I also think that your crystal ball is at least as foggy as mine. There's no way you can say for sure whether using proprietary drivers will ruin our free system or not. Perhaps favoring free drivers while reaching out to proprietary software companies will be more effective.
Linux might not have gotten of the ground without using only free software, but now is not then. Linux is well-established, as is free software. Perhaps now is the time to gain ground in another way (I sound like ESR here).
EDIT: This is way longer than I'd like it to be, but I've edited it as best I can right now.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw - PostScript support?

    Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a new printer/scanner/copier(/fax is a nice to have, but not mandatory), and I'm deciding between the following models:
HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw
PostScript support is important for me, and I know that the 175 has this.  However, I'm not sure about the 177, even after digging through several web pages and documents.  Here's what I found:
    - The main specs page for the 177 says that it supports "PCLm".  I'm not familiar with this PCL variant, so I don't know how it compares to PCL5 or PCL6, etc.  I was unable to find more information on "PCLm".
    - The "Software Included" section of Page 2 of the PDF datasheet for the 177 mentions "HP PostScript" driver.  This is the only place where I've seen any potential indication that the 177 supports PostScript.  This section also mentions a "PCLmS" driver.  I could not find any further information on "PCLmS".
    - The  for User Guide the 177 only mentions PostScript in a section that refers to ePrint.  However, it does not imply that the 177 itself supports PostScript.
    - The Product Specifications page (in the Support section of the HP site) for the 177 has a "Printing Specifications" section which lists only "PCL3 GUI" next to "Device languages".
I'm guessing that the 177 does not support PostScript, but does anyone have any more definitive information?  Also, is there a description of PCLm / PCLmS somewhere?
    Thanks!

  • Can SQL Developer be used for Oracle Support "HTML Output" Diag Scripts ?

    Hi All,
Oracle Support has asked me to run a diagnostic script (OTL_Diag.sql for anyone familar with the script) that produces output in HTML format using SQL*Plus to help troubleshoot an OTL problem we are having. Unfortunately I don't have SQL*Plus installed and my company is not on board with me installing it because of the SQL*NET connection required. Instead I have access to SQL Developer 3.1.0.7. While this works fine for most situations I'm having problems generating the required .html output file that Support needs.
I've tried runing the OTL_Diag.sql a couple of ways using SQL Developer. First, I opened the file from SQL Developer and using the Run Script functionality (F5) I executed the code that way. This method did give me an opportunity to input the necessary parms and it did create the 'start' of the HTML file on my (Windows) file system, but the script seemed to abort with a java error that indicated some sort of format error (sorry, I'm not a java person so I can't provide any more info, but I'll be glad to get the exact error message if anyone thinks that will help solve my issue).
My second approach was to open a SQL Window where I typed in @C:\OTL_Diag.sql without quotes. This approach also gave me the opportunity to enter the necessary input parms and it seemed to end normally. It also created the 'start' of the diaganostic output file on my Windows file system, but it 'completed' before any of the 'real' diaganostic output was written to the .html file.
The Metalink note clearly specifies that the OTL_Diag.sql script is to be run with SQL*Plus 10.2 or above so I don't think I can complain too loudly to Oracle about this...but given that I don't have access to this product (and it is useless for me to again ask to install it) I am hoping someone out there has some ideas or insight as to how I can use SQL Developer to execute this diag script in a manner that will produce the required .html output file.
Thanks in advance to anyone taking time to read my post !!

    >
As a result, at this point in time my only available tool to run the OTL_Diag.sql script (provided by Oracle Support) is SQL Developer
    >
Then you will have to edit the script, break it into pieces, execute each piece manually and save the output to feed into the next piece as required based on what the script is actually doing. Don't post the script or contents as that will likely violate your support agreement.
As I already mentioned the script may be using syntax and/or commands that are simply not supported by sql*developer. One likely area is the script may be producing intermediate output scripts that are then processed by a later portion of the script. If that is the case then my suggestion to execute the pieces manually should work but you will need to do some trial-and-error to see.
Even if you appear to be successful you will still have an issue when you communicate the results of your 'test' to Oracle support and they determine you didn't follow their instructions to use the proper tool.
Sounds like your management is either ignorant or incompetent so I suggest you cover yourself by documentating the instructions from Oracle support and the direct orders you were given to disregard those instructions. No need to discuss that issue further but clearly there are resources available somewhere in the org that has the proper privileges or they wouldn't be able to maintain and support the database. If they want to pay for support they should heed their advice. Nuff said.

  • Sick of Adobe Support / CS4 Library Slow

I'd like to start a discussion on the total lack of professionality of Adobe's support requests. Almost every time I send a request for support, with full details of the problem, I'm sent back a response that along the lines of "do you have the latest drivers?" and the support request is summarily closed.
My current main problem stems from the fact that the library in CS4 is unforgiveably slow. It can take 2 seconds just to display a library item (in the preview window), and gets worse if the library's height is expanded beyond 200px or so. I'm using a quad-core system with 4g of RAM so it's not a slow computer problem. As far as I can tell it might be something to do with their new GUI (some kind of cross platform thing?) but I can't tell properly!
Anyway, that problem, amongst others, makes CS4 really slow to use, easier to use CS3, and they have not EVER given me any advice how I could fix it or told me that it is something they are working on fixing. I'm really getting to the end of my rope on this one and feel I should not have paid the $1000 for the upgrade (as it just makes things worse for me).
    Thoughts?

Thanks for that. I finally get an answer that helps. I did the update and now the library is a lot faster, almost as fast as CS3.
For some reason the Adobe update would only tell me about updates to Illustrator until I manually asked it to check for updates. This brought me to the false sense that there were no other updates.
There are a few changes though. I now cannot click on the name to edit, if I double click it goes to rename. This used to be accessible using F2 which was great / quick. Now to edit an instance I have to click on the tiny icon. I guess it's not too much of a problem and it's something I'll get used to at least.
I have already found a new bug though. If you double click on the icon to open a library item, then move your mouse and double click on another item too quickly it won't do anything. No selecting, no editing.

  • 10.10.3 breaks support for ATI video cards

The 10.10.3 update has broken support for a bunch of ATI video cards that worked just fine under 10.10.2. This is for my Mac Pro 5,1. Some folks also reported issues with breaking support for Nvidia cards, but have mentioned that the latest Nvidia beta drivers might work.
There is a thread that may be found here that has some details:
    OS X 10.10.3 Update
and here (reverting back to 10.10.2 fixes things):
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1864352
Specifically, my Visiontek Eyefinity 6 7750 stopped working, and another users Radeon 7770 stopped working.  Yet, the 7970 continues to work.  Reverting to the old ATI 5770 that came with the machine renders it usable. This is a problem as the 7750 only took a single slot, and the two 5770s eat up 3 slots so I can't use my USB 3 card, etc.
I remember this once happened before.  I think it was with the 10.9.2 update which borked a bunch of video cards that worked fine under 10.9.1, and then were again made to work just fine with the 10.9.3 update.
All the 'standard' fixes have been attempted.  Clean installs.  Fix permissions. Etc.
Not sure why apple would seemingly disable support for these cards, other than by accident, I assume, much like happened with the 10.9.2 update.
Also not sure if just copying the correct driver from 10.10.2 might solve the problem until Apple get's around to fixing the issue.  Has anyone tried?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi, i am using dual Cinema Display 30 and 23 with a HIS ATI 7750 1 GB on a Mac Pro 3.1. Post upgrade from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3 my display eded unusable blurry. Therefore I have tried to replace the 10.10.3 kext with the previous 10.10.2. But it did not work out as expected. I managed to get some video output but no acceleration at all. Therefore the system is unusable. Therefore i full downgraded to 10.10.2 now.
Never the less it might be a good starting point for someone to get acceleration running. This is what I did:
I have to set the nvram variable kext-dev-mode=1, but be warned this will allow any unsigned > .kext to load, including rootlets, malware, etc.
I did this in order to allow me to modify the kext if necessary and to ensure that if 10.10.2 kext might be locked that they still be loaded and the computer will not be prevented from boot.
    sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
    sudo shutdown -r now
Post this i copied from my other Mac running 10.10.2 the file /System/Library/Extensions/AMDRadeonX4000.kext to my Mac Pro 3.1 running 10.10.3 with no proper video output. Basically i copied all ATI related kext from one mac to the other.
    copied  [MAC10.10.2]/System/Library/Extensions/ATI* ----> [MAC10.10.3]/System/Library/Extensions/ATI*
    copied  [MAC10.10.2]/System/Library/Extensions/AMD* ----> [MAC10.10.3]/System/Library/Extensions/AMD*
someone needs to do a diff here to identify the file with is necessary the only one i found with a significant change seems to be AMDRadeonX4000.kext
I forced to rebuild kext cache manually
    sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
    sudo kextcache -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions
    And reboot!
    sudo shutdown -r now
After the reboot I had  display output but no acceleration at all. Seeing the video out put made me happy but the system is unusable to to the lack of acceleration of the display. I am really looking forward for Apple to fix the update and to reapply support for the ATI GPUs hence it allows to save environmental resources to keep good products like the Mac Pro 3.1 running...

  • My iTunes Store keeps closing?

I try to use my iTunes Store app but it keep closing right away it won't even load?

    Hi, Alllanos08.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try closing all applications open in multitasking and power cycling the device.  Test accessing the iTunes store after the steps are processed.
If an app is unresponsive but the system seems to respond to button presses, you can force the app to close:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
iOS: Force an app to close
If the issues persist, you may need to restore the device as Apple installed applications are unable to be deleted and reinstalled like third-party applications.

Is anybody still using this combination ? Does it work ? yes, we are using it and it has been working fine for over 4 years...of course we patched it to the latest - 9.2.0.8 to be on the supported release/patch.

  • Does the dv6911us support SHDC Cards?

    Hi,
I just got given a dv6911us to fix up.  It's out of warranty so I can't get anything from HP support.
I've loaded it with Window 7 32-bit and used the Vista 32-bit drivers for any missing ones.
So far it's all good and surprisingly responsive.
Anyways, my question is does it support SDHC cards?  I know it's a Ricoh R5C853 device but Ricoh just says SD.
I want to put in an 8GB SDHC card for ready boost.  Microsoft recommend 1-2.5 x RAM, which is 3GB, so 8GB seems a good amount.  I tried a 1GB SanDisk Extreme III card and it worked well.
    Thanks for the help.
    Cheers,
    Nigel

    Hi gonesss,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The cards that are supported in your G530 Laptop are mentioned in the below link where you can download the User Guide and refer page no. 18 & 19, but normal SD cards are supported but not SDXC.

    Hope this helps!!!
