BUG in JDev 9033? Also see thread: BC4JContext in Servlets

When I was trying to enter the properties for the Action element in struts config file, I could not do so using the Struts Configuration Editor dialog box...and I think that was why the properties got skipped.
Here is the problem (I am using JDeveloper v9033):
1] Right click struts-config and choose Edit Struts-Config.
2] Click on Action Mappings element in the list box
3] Select one of the Action Mappings (or enter a new one)
4] Click on the properties tab. At this point if click on Add a new row is added. The property column contains a drop down list box and won't let me enter values such as "application", "viewobject", "releasemode"...All I see in the list are "applicationConfig", "attribute", "forward", "include", etc...
To get around this problem I entered the 3 elements that I mentioned bypassing the Config Editor dialog box.
Is this a bug? or do I need to use it in a different fashion????

The source was removed from the released product when the datatags were deprecated in the 10.1.3 release, but are still available as part of the complete ADF source code bundle you can request through Worldwide Support on Metalink.
That said, I just diff-ed the source of that class from the 10.1.2.2 release with the ones from the 10.1.3.0 and 10.1.3.1 release and the source is identical, so you can use the version from 10.1.2 that you have if that is the quickest path to the finish line for you.

What I suggest is that you try to pair your apple ID with you company ipad and see if it works.
Here is why::
I believe that the Apple rules let you. They are something like:
-- for a shared iDevice, you may put the app on one device
-- for a device you use exclisively, you may put the app on five (or some number) of iDevices
I'm not lawyer, so how you interpred this is a question.
Now, you need to figure out how to do this.
In the past at least, apple used this terminalogy.
    Personal
    Institution
    Layered. combines personal & institution.
It depends on how your company has configured the iPad.
I have read where you can have upto three apple id per device.

Visibility of the Podcasts section is controlled from within the Edit > Preferences dialog.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
Missing tracks
Typically this can happen because a file or folder is accidentally shunted to the wrong location. iTunes can also get confused if it expects to be talking to an external drive which isn't there. If will often reset the default media folder location and may have trouble finding files in the old folders.
Select one of your tracks that is missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Cancel when asked to try to locate the file, then look at the location given on the summary tab. This where iTunes thinks the file ought to be? Now find out where it actually is. Post back the two locations for comparison. I should be able to give you some steps to reconnect everything once I can determine which of the things that might have gone wrong is most likely in your case.
When you get it all working make a backup!

JDev 9033 problems - not in Jdev 9032

I am using Jdom in a BC4J Project using the following:
new org.jdom.input.SAXBuilder()
It works fine in Jdev 9032 but when changing to Jdev 9033 I get an exception. Note my Project file are excactly the same!

My guess is that the libraries used in your project for 9032 and 9033 have some differences.
I tried 9032 (build 1185) and 9033 (build 1206), I find that I need to include sax.jar and xercesImpl.jar from jaxb 1.0 libraries. Without xercesImpl.jar I get the same error you get. My test case is a new Project with only jdom-b9\samples\SAXBuilderDemo.java

To the best of my knowledge you cannot currently buy movies via the Apple TV 2. You certainly can't here in the UK, where rental is the only option for all available content.
It's my understanding that US customers can purchase TV shows, but I don't believe they can currently purchase movies

I went to the Summary page of iTunes and checked "Sync only checked songs and videos". Synced again, and no songs were playable. Unchecked my only playlist and synced again. All the songs were gone as expected. Checked my playlist again, and all the songs were there. Looked at them under the music tab, but they were all grayed out. Tried to play any of them, but could not. Tried to sync again and received the message, "The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."
Every time I connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes, it says "iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPhone ____. Would you like to restore this iPhone again now?" I click "Continue Restore" (I'm tempted to click "delete backup.) It then says, "An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-54). I click OK. I'm redirected to the "Set up your iPhone screen". It's already selected to "Restore from backup of ___'s iPhone". Click continue. It restores for about 2 minutes. iTunes says my settings have been restored and wait for it to restart. And again the message that "iTunes was interrupted..." (see above). Crap.
How do i get this back to where it belongs?

They are iMessages & this is happening because you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage, iCloud & FaceTime. One of you needs to get a separate Apple ID & use that for iMessage, FaceTime & iCloud. You can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but for the rest you both need separate Apple ID's. You can create an Apple ID here:

The only way to fix this, is if you use a manual proxy configuration in Firefox. So all 100 + uni iMac's can only use Safari as I would need to do a profile push to all 300 students and I am unsure what file carries the proxy information.

Thread pool in servlet container

Hello all,
I'm working on this webapp that has some bad response times and I've identified an area were we could shave off a considerable amount of time. The app is invoking a component that causes data to be catched for subsequently targeted apps in the environemnt. Our app does not need to wait for a response so I'd like to make this an asyncronous call. So, how best to implement this?...I considered JMS, but started working on a solution using the Java 1.4 backport of JSR 166 (java.util.concurrent).
I've been testing the use of a ThreadPoolExecutor, using an ArrayBlockingQueue. The work that each Runnable will perform involves a lot of waiting (the component we call invokes a web service, among a couple other distributed calls). So I figure the pool will be much larger than the queue. Our container has 35 execute threads, so I've been testing with a thread pool size of 25, and a queue of 10.
Any thoughts on this approach? I understand that some of this work could be simplified by JMS, but if I don't need to be tied to the container, I'd prefer not to. The code if much easier to unit test, and plays nicely with our continious build integration (which runs our junit test for us and notifies on errors).

Well, if it works, that's by far the best way to go - but note that creating threads in a servlet container means those threads are outside of the container's control. Many containers will refuse to give the new threads access to the JNDI context, even, and some may prevent you from creating threads at all.

          I am following thread discussions already a while and there's always
          discussion whether to user threads or not (I am not talking about a
          servlet thread but about threads manually instantiated for other
          reasons like asynchroneous handling of tasks for loose coupling or for
          long running purposes).
          So here's my question:
          Is it definitely allowed to spawn threads from a servlet (and even put
          the reference into the application context to allow others to later on
          access that thread)?
          Does the jdk specify on this?
          Or Is it even specific for each servlet engine? What is BEA saying
          about this?
          And even further: Is this different on application servers that
          include an ejb-container? Again, does the specification say something
          about this? What does BEA say about this?

          There is nothing in the Servlet spec that specifically prohibits the use
          of threads within a servlet, but most will tell you that you should avoid it
          if possible. Having said that, I've seen quite a few implimentations that
          use background threads for tasks such as log queue processing and have not
          really had any issues. To me it's a matter of degree. As long as your
          architecture makes sense and you are careful to avoid potential deadlocks,
          you should be ok. FWIW, BEA recommends not creating threads within a web
          application.

Starting new threads from a servlet

Hi
I read somewhere that starting new threads from a servlet is not supported in the future releases of J2EE .
Any one aware of this.
I have a listener program started as a new thread from the init method of a servlet which is set to load on startup.
I have to think about another way to do this if this is not suppported in the future releases
any comments

Actually I was getting some warning messages in my websphere server console when I tried to make JDBC connections from the thread I opened in the servlet.
Everthing works fine but with the warning messages,

"unsupported" environment. When application is
spinning its own threads from an EJB, spinning a
thread and accessing a database is not supported (per
the J2EE specification). One exception to this rule is

for it at this time. IBM is working with Sun to
