Bug in the Forms 5 ?

Hi All!
I develop with a Forms Builder 5.0.6.18.1 and I've found a serious bug I
think.
Just try to do the following things:
1.Connect as user "A".
2.Create a stored procedure which does something like this:
function c is
x number;
begin
select count(*) into x from example;
exception ....
end;
return x;
3.Create a table called example and insert only one row into it.
4.Create a form a numeric field on it and a button on it.
5.Create a when-button-pressed trigger onto the button and call the
function c.
6.Display the returning value to check the result.
7.Call the form and check the result.
8.Connect as user "B".
9.Copy the same function which "A" has.
10.Create a table example as we did in the schema "A".
11.Insert two rows into it.
12.Finally the most important thing: Try to run the form with "A" and
"B" too!
I've figured out that doesn't matter you are connected as user "B" the
form calls that function which you've compiled in the other schema last
time! If you compile the form with schema "B" and you call the form from
"A" the "B"`s function will be run and vice versa. (Just try to drop
"B"`s function and run the form in "A", ORA-004067 will appear.)

Hmm. It's strange. But I can reproduct this case easily. It seems to be a problem of my version only.

  • Icons are not visible when the form is run

    I develop a form with only a push button. I developed form using oracle 10DS. I have saved my form in application server. To see an icon in my button, i did the following things:
    1. In application server i made a jar named test.jar. It consists of just two gif images.
    2. I copied this jar in application server's \forms90\java directory
    3. I configured formsweb.cfg file as the following.
    4. my \form90\java\oracle\forms\registry\registry.dat is as the following.
    whenever i run form i can not see icon but in client's oracle jar cache jar is downloaded.

    I tried many times. But could not be successful. Then I just kept my icons in

    without changing the name of the icon, then i always see the old icon. The new icon, i can not see.
    Please, help me with only Oracle 10g AS how i can see icon in button. Let's assume, there is not oracle 10g DS (any development tool) in the machine where the form is run.
    Please, guide me clearly step by step so that i might be successful.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Bernard,
    It works fine with JInitiator but not working with
    the JPI. For JPI what settings I need to do ??hi TKARIM and Bernard, i am having similar problem even with the Bernard's recommended setup. could you post the webutiljini.htm (i presume you are using config=test) ?
    i am actually using jinitiator 1.3.1.28 with Oracle HTTP Server of OAS 10gR2) calling Forms Server 6i (f60cgi). After setting up according to Bernard's recommended setup steps, the java console showed that it loaded the icon jar file when it could not read the form, but it skipped the loading of the icon jar file once it read and started the form. How do we specify in the form to pick up the icon from the jar file instead from a directory ? Or do we need to specify ? Any ideas ?
    Thx and Regards

  • On Windows 8.1 and Firefox 36.0.1 the textarea in forms has no carriage returns. Earlier versions the forms work. Is there a fix for this?

    Prior to this version of Firefox 36.0.1, the <textarea> in my HTML forms was working; displaying carriage returns. In version 36.0.1 they no longer function properly. Instead when I enter a carriage return, it displays a space instead of a newline. I went to the most basic textarea testing
    &lt;textarea&gt; name="comments" cols=20 rows=10 &lt;/textarea&gt;
    to make sure I wasn't introducing anything with other languages.
    I am using Windows 8.1 Pro. I rolled back to Firefox 35.0 and everything works fine. I install 36.0.1 and it stops working.
    I have access to another Laptop also running the same version of windows and Firefox and it appears to be doing strange things as well. I am suspicious in that I started noticing this immediately after a windows upgrade last night. The laptop also experienced the issues it is having immediately after a windows update yesterday evening.
    I have yet another PC running a different version of windows and Firefox and it too works fine. It looks like the issue is where there is windows 8.1 Pro and Firefox 36.0.1.
    Do you guys have any idea what is going on here?
    Thanks

    The current release supports the white-space property for a text area and it is possible that the website uses white-space: pre instead of white-space: pre-wrap.
    The former will prevent Firefox from wrapping the text.
    You can check that in the Inspector via the right-click context menu.

  • Restricting data entry to a particular language in the form

    Hi,
    I created a multilingual form in which all the fields of the form are in a particular language . Now am trying to restrict data entry in the form to that language at the client side only . Say if it is a form in french, can we restrict the data entry to french only .  The approach i was trying to implement was adding a script against the change event of all data fields and see if the characters lie in the range of  the language unicode character set . But have not been successful in it yet . Can anybody help me find some way or provide any sample for it ?
    Thanks

    Hello, I'm German
    Probably you can restrict the characters used for text entry, so for example ü is allowed in the German form but not in French.
    But you will NEVER be able to restrict the users staying only writing French in French forms 100%.
    1) You sometimes, not often, do encounter letters that are not typical for the language. (Though it can appear in any kind of word, it's quite regular for names.)
    2) Let's say I fill the French form. I encounter a problem when I type in the word "Müller". This word wouldn't be French at all. The text will be delted and probably given an error message. Well... I learn out of this error message. Next time I'll type Mueller. ^^
    (I knew several pages were people were restricted to talk English by forbidding letters that were not used in English very often... That didn't stop us violating that rule. The only error that really bugged us wasn't the restriction in not using letters that don't exist in English but the "please don't swear or insult so." error that kept appearing for ex. when we used the German word for "that" (= "dass"). They just didn't like the last 3 letters.)
    3) Many countries have the same or include other countries unicodes. For example English could be written in the German form or in the French form.
    4) You can't get out the syslanguage as far as I know. This would be a great hint which language the person is using.
    5) I don't think you can use the spellcheck in any way... great violation against spellchecking could also be a hint for another language.
    I know a quite big internetcommunity which did try to accomplish the same as you do. After about 2 years and a lot of experiments they stopped their efforts and were content by popping up the random error-messages warning that you don't have to insult, just like those other communities mentioned above. ^^ (Though they tried to restrict the insulting parts to the language used that didn't work out. Too many people knew how to insult in other languages ;D or which words were similar to insults.)
    People just never do what they are supposed to do and are quite nasty finding workarounds...
    My advice to you would be:
    Don't make the effort.
    Sorry for not being able to provide you with a solution, but the opposite.
    Lisa

  • PNG images revive deleted images in the form of a thumbnail, potential risk

    Saving a PNG image will revive deleted photos. To replicate this, save a PNG image, such as the ones on XKCD's "What If?", and deleted images get revived in the form of a thumbnail overlapping the image.
    This has been here since IOS 5, according to http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/11/14/bug-resurrects-deleted-image-thumbnail s-in-ios-7-photos-app-dates-back-to-ios-5
    Knowledge of this could be abused. If I get free acess to someone else's Ipad, I can just spam saving PNG images over and over to see their sensitive images saved as a thumbnail overlapping the PNG image's thumbnail.
    How do I delete the thumbnails? It seems that when you delete a photo, it saves the thumbnail. This is supported by the PNG images reviving deleted photos in the form of thumbnails.

  • Bug in Oracle Forms 9i triggers

    I've found a bug in oracle forms 9i. It happens when you have a select query inside a when-validate-item trigger and in that query you opt to show an alert when the query has encountered an exception...
    When that trigger is fired, the alert will show even if the query returns a record(which means that it does not go through the exception). The solution is to recompile the said trigger.
    Is this bug present in the other versions of Oracle forms?
    Is there a patch for this bug?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I've consulted with some of my colleagues who have been using Oracle forms for more than 5 years now, and they said that the bug seems to randomly appears...The code works fine in the local environemnt (forms builder) and in the AS itself (compiled in Unix) but after sometime, the bug appears and they just compiled the trigger where the code of the alert is in...
    Is there any logical explanation of why compiling a trigger (without changing any code) solves this problem?

  • I purchase the Forms plus,  bywidgets.mu, and can't get it to work.  any help?

    I purchase the Forms + bywidgets.mu
    I've followed the directions on the weblink (https://widgets.mu/se/FormsPlus/demo/)
    and still can't get anything to work.
    I just keep getting <> inside a box and that's it.
    Help please!

    Hi Lisa,
    Do you have a URL where I can take a look at the issue? It may be a configuration issue or it may be a bug so I just want to check and make sure.
    In terms of the radio buttons one, I just published up update to the Forms+ Widget this morning that includes a new way to do grouping for radio buttons. Creative Cloud should download the updated version of the .mulib file into your downloads folder (and it should now be called something like FormsPlus Bundle.mulib), and you can double click that to add the updated widgets to your Muse library. The one I'm referring to in particular is called the "Radio Group (Box Selection)" widget. Basically, when you drag the widget out onto the page, it shows a dotted line box and you simply drag and resize the box around the radio items you'd like to group together. The box itself won't be exported so you don't have to worry about that, but it will allow you to visually group them instead of doing so with labels.
    Let me know if you have any trouble getting the new update or using the box selection widget and I'd be happy to help further.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    you form is running in the browser with the help of Jinitiator which is nothing but A JavaInitiator.
    as your machine files located in the System32 folder of your windows directory as .DLL. are not able to communicate with the Jinitiator DLL Files being used
    for the JRE.
    The Form is sending the request to the internet explorer to run the object of applet ttype which is nothing but the Oracle Java Applet named as OC4J(Oracle Container for Java)
    if your form is running or trying to run and hangged due to some problems and your machine got abnormal shutdown then at that time the DLL fiels communicating each other may got corrupt
    due to any abmormal shutdown of your machine...
    the problem is there with the Java Side...
    There is no solution other then reloading the JRE and Jinitiator as per the error being thrown by your machine

    you form is running in the browser with the help of Jinitiator which is nothing but A JavaInitiator.
    as your machine files located in the System32 folder of your windows directory as .DLL. are not able to communicate with the Jinitiator DLL Files being used
    for the JRE.

  • Filling out the date fields in the forms

    Hi,
    I'm trying to fill out a form (http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134.pdf). The regular text fields are working fine, but I've problem with date fields in this document.
    When I set the value of any date field (e.g. see "Date submitted" in the middle-right of last page), Acrobat Reader assigns the same value to all other date fields - which is completely wrong. And if I delete any value it has assigned, it deletes the values of other date fields as well.
    Is it a bug in Reader, or something is wrong with the form? I've the latest Reader 8.1.2 + security patch, running on Windows.
    Regards,
    Michael.

    It is the design of the form. It isn't a bug of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.

  • Possible Bug concerning JClient Forms with tables

    If I instantiate a JClient Frame first time a lot of empty rows appear in the table, if there is NO DATA in the database table.
    If there IS data in the database table, at the fist time everything is OK, but if I instantiate the JClient frame a second time, in the JClient table a lot of empty rows appear in addition to the expected ones.
    To reproduce this behaviour you can create a single JClient Table Form and then add a component to instantiate a new Form of the actual one e.g. I have reproduced it changing the standard About Menu so that <About> instantiates and sets visible the Form again.
    menuHelp.setMnemonic('H');
    itemHelpAbout.setText("About");
    itemHelpAbout.setMnemonic('A');
    itemHelpAbout.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    FrameView1 frame = new FrameView1(app);
    frame.setVisible(true);
    Is this a bug ?
    Is there a workaround for this behaviour ?

    If I instantiate a JClient Frame first time a lot of empty rows appear in the table, if there is NO DATA in the database table.
    If there IS data in the database table, at the fist time everything is OK, but if I instantiate the JClient frame a second time, in the JClient table a lot of empty rows appear in addition to the expected ones.This has been discussed on OTN at 10G JDBC Driver SQl Exception earlier.
    Please see if suggested workaround works for your case.

  • The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again

    Having created a new custom list (even with only a text field) I am unable add new items to the list - the error message is Unexpected
    response from server. The status code of response is '0'. The status text of response is ''. when in 'quick edit'.
    If I try to add or modify an item in the list by clicking 'add new item' I get "The
    server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
    I have restarted the Sharepoint Search Host Controller server but to no avail. I have 24Gb RAM for this server so it's not a
    memory issue (8Gb available). I have also tried from various browsers including Chrome and Safari - still the same error message.
    This error only occurs on lists. I can edit document properties in a library and have no problems with calendar entries.
    There are no entries in the event viewer, so where do I need to begin looking to find out what is (or rather is not) happening?

    One thing I noticed in SP 2013 is that if your list has unique permissions and a user/group has permissions only on that list and has limited or no access at the site level, then you run into this error: "The server was unable to save the form at this time.
    Please try again."
    This can be resolved by either giving that user/group atleast read access at the site level or in my case I had to create a new permission set (since we cant update limited access permission set) which is same as limited access but with the additional permission
    of "Use Remote Interfaces  -  Use SOAP, Web DAV, the Client Object Model or SharePoint Designer interfaces to access the Web site."
    I am not sure if this is a bug or as per design, but not allowing a user who has needed permissions at the list level but limited access at site level doesnt seem right. Never ran into this issue in prior version of SharePoint. I tested and this additional
    permission doesnt seem to violate any security at site level. But implement this at your risk. No guarantees provided and not responsible for any issues with this implementation if any.

  • FRM-92101- There is a failure in the form server during startup.

    Hi,
    I'm deploying a forms 10g application . I'm using Oracle Application Server Forms and Reports Services 10.1.2.0.2 under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, along with an Oracle 10g Database on another server. Every time I try testing the form services using http://10.0.4.114:7778/forms/frmservlet it brings out the errorFRM-92101- There is a failure in the form server during startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration. Please look into the web server log file for detail
    Right now, I'm a bit lost. Can anyone please tell me if there is some parameter I have to set, or something I should do to make it work?
    Thanks a lot

    Fabian,
    I did not make changes to those files. The forms services are working on another server with Red hat Rel 4 and 3 . What I did is to configure a new server with Red Hat Rel 5 , took the backup of all the forms binaries and the HOME and restore on the new server. I did the same thing for a server running rel 4 and it has no issue:
    The content of the files are as below:
    DEFAULT.ENV*
    # $Id: default.env 26-apr-2005.16:59:08 sujain Exp $
    # default.env - default Forms environment file, Solaris version
    # This file is used to set the Forms runtime environment parameters.
    # If a parameter is not defined here, the value used will be that defined
    # in the environment in which the servlet engine (OC4J or JServ) was started.
    # NOTES
    # 1/ The Forms installation process should replace all occurrences of
    # <percent>FORMS_ORACLE_HOME<percent> with the correct ORACLE_HOME
    # setting, and all occurrences of <percent>O_JDK_HOME<percent> with
    # the location of the JDK (usually $ORACLE_HOME/jdk).
    # Please make these changes manually if not.
    # 2/ Some of the variables below may need to be changed to suite your needs.
    # Please refer to the Forms documentation for details.

    # Explanations:
    # - Reports needs the path for libjava.so
    # (.../jre/lib/sparc)
    # - Forms needs two paths to the jre, for libjvm.so and libhpi.so
    # - In JDK 1.4.1 the location of libjvm.so is lib/sparc (there is no
    # classic directory) so we do not include the .../classic directory
    # below. There are other versions of libjvm.so (in directories server,
    # client and hotspot) but we will use the version in lib/sparc for now.

    # formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
    # Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
    # string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
    # USER PARAMETERS
    # These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
    # may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
    # (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
    # or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)

  • Bug in Latest Forms Patch - 10.1.2.3?

    I have posted this information as a reply to another thread, but was wondering if this has been noted as a bug.
    I recently upgraded my development environment from Forms 10.1.2.0.2 to Forms 10.1.2.3 and am now not able to compile a form that contains a reference to a database link within PL/SQL code.
    The form has a trigger that contains an update statement as follows:
    UPDATE tablename@databaselink set col = 'new value';
    I tried the database link in SQL Plus and it is working fine.
    Database environment is 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2008.
    Please, note that I am not looking for a work around. I have found a work around in creating a view that simply SELECTs * from tablename@databaselink. I can then change my code in the form to update the view instead of the table.
    I am just hoping find out if this has been logged as a bug and I am hoping to avoid doing this throughout my application as the need to modify forms arises.
    Thanks.
    James K.

    Hello,
    Did you simply try to create a synonym to this DB link, then use this synonym in your query ?
