Restricting data entry to a particular language in the form

Hi,
I created a multilingual form in which all the fields of the form are in a particular language . Now am trying to restrict data entry in the form to that language at the client side only . Say if it is a form in french, can we restrict the data entry to french only . The approach i was trying to implement was adding a script against the change event of all data fields and see if the characters lie in the range of the language unicode character set . But have not been successful in it yet . Can anybody help me find some way or provide any sample for it ?

Probably you can restrict the characters used for text entry, so for example ü is allowed in the German form but not in French.
But you will NEVER be able to restrict the users staying only writing French in French forms 100%.
1) You sometimes, not often, do encounter letters that are not typical for the language. (Though it can appear in any kind of word, it's quite regular for names.)
2) Let's say I fill the French form. I encounter a problem when I type in the word "Müller". This word wouldn't be French at all. The text will be delted and probably given an error message. Well... I learn out of this error message. Next time I'll type Mueller. ^^
(I knew several pages were people were restricted to talk English by forbidding letters that were not used in English very often... That didn't stop us violating that rule. The only error that really bugged us wasn't the restriction in not using letters that don't exist in English but the "please don't swear or insult so." error that kept appearing for ex. when we used the German word for "that" (= "dass"). They just didn't like the last 3 letters.)
3) Many countries have the same or include other countries unicodes. For example English could be written in the German form or in the French form.
4) You can't get out the syslanguage as far as I know. This would be a great hint which language the person is using.
5) I don't think you can use the spellcheck in any way... great violation against spellchecking could also be a hint for another language.
I know a quite big internetcommunity which did try to accomplish the same as you do. After about 2 years and a lot of experiments they stopped their efforts and were content by popping up the random error-messages warning that you don't have to insult, just like those other communities mentioned above. ^^ (Though they tried to restrict the insulting parts to the language used that didn't work out. Too many people knew how to insult in other languages ;D or which words were similar to insults.)
People just never do what they are supposed to do and are quite nasty finding workarounds...
My advice to you would be:
Don't make the effort.
Sorry for not being able to provide you with a solution, but the opposite.

i am using a reset button to reset the form, but it resets the whole form including data which is bound with XML.
i would like to know whether i can reset particular fields in the form excluding the XML bound fields.

Error message: The data for filename was already added to the form

I recently modified an existing data-collection PDF - only mod was to add some additional pull-down menu options in two fields. I went thru the Distribution wizard, tested the revised form, added the PDF to the Responses file...everything seemed fine. Next day, I distributed the revised form, and had 22 submissions. When adding the 22 submissions to the Response file, 6 or 7 bounced with the error message "The data for <filename> was already added to the form", even though that was not true. I went back, cleared all, and added one of the "bad" files to the response form. It went in OK, but I could not add another "bad one". Although several of the forms may be submitted by the same person, the data is different in all of the submissions, plus, we've been doing this procdure for over a year and never had an issue until now.
The original form may have been created in Acrobat X, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro. Not sure if that is part or all of the answer. Thanks for any insights...I saw a posting in the Reader side, but I can't see any answers.

According to your error message, we need to verify if Microsoft SQL Server Compact appears in the
Change Data Source dialog. If not, you need to install

Restriction data entry for input ready query

Dear All,
I have an input ready query with two structures for rows and columns.
However, I have set one of columns' structure's member as "data can be changed with planning functions", i'm able to enter data for that column. When i execute save function, entered valus are being disapperaed.(not benig written to the cube)
But i want to restrict data entrance for that column. (Like display functionality in BPS)
I know i can protect fields with excel functionality, but we are using web environment.
How can i resolve mentioned issue?

Please follow the below steps:
(In Designer)
1) Open Island Resort Marketing universe or any universe in Designer.
2) Goto Tools -> Manage security -> Manage Access Restrictions.
3) Click on New option - > Give the Restriction name - >click on Rows tab - > Click on Add button (New Row Restriction window comes) -> give table name For example:"Resort_Country" in the Table text box, under the Where Clause "Resort_Country.COUNTRY = @Prompt ('Which country?u2019,u2019 A',, MONO,FREE)"-> Click OK -> Click Ok.
4) Click on Add user or group - >Select the user ->Ok.
5) Click on Apply -> Click OK.
6) Save the universe and export it into the repository.
7) Cretae the new report (webi/deski) from the user the one who belongs from this group.

How to use cursor data in more than one location in the form?

hi all.
is it possible to make cursor as global or public in the form so i can use its data in more than location for testing like in buttons triggers.
for example:
if i declare the following cursor in "WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE" trigger

SELECT ID, NAME
FROM PERSON;how can i use this cursor in other triggers in other buttons in the form?

Restrict Date Entry with Past Date

Hi,
We have a scenario, where system should not allow to enter the Appointment Date in Past. Appointment Date is a date type in service order transaction and date rule is blank for this date type.
Kindly help if this can be achieved through configuration.

Hi Madan,
U can restrict the Object to Particular group or User
In designer go to tools menu and click on manage security and
manage security restictions here u can add new restriction and
as well as add user or group.

After upgrade to 3.1.2, date pickers and popup lovs mess up the form layout

Now there are new table tags around every single date picker / popup LOV item and its' list icon which forces other items on the same line to the next one instead. Bad Oracle, bad!
Any workarounds?

APEX 3.1 introduced the use of the <fieldset> tag, for wrapping compound items, like the date picker or popup LOV items. In the following, you can learn more about it, including some workarounds:

Check duplicate data entry in multi record block,which is a mandatory field

Dear all,
I have a situation where i have to check duplicate data entry(on a particular field,which is a mandatory field,i.e. it cannot be skipped by user without entering value) while data key-in in a Multi Record block.
As for reference I have used a logic,such as
1>In a When-Validate-Record trigger of that block I am assigning the value of that current item in Table type variable(collection type)
as this trigger fire every time as soon as i leave that record,so its assigning the value of that current time.And this process continues
then
2>In a When-Validate-Item trigger of that corresponding item(i.e. the trigger is at item level) has been written,where it compares the value of that current item and the value stored in Table type variable(collection type) of When-Validate-Record trigger.If the current item value is matched with any value stored in Table type variable I am showing a message of ('Duplicate Record') following by raise_form_trigger failure
This code is working fine for checking duplicate value of that multi record field
The problem is that,if user enter the value in that field,and then goes to next field,enter value to that field and then press 'Enter Query 'icon,the bolth Validate trigger fires.As result first when-validate record fires,which stores that value,and then when-validate-item fires,as a result it shows duplicate record message
Please give me a meaningful logic or code for solving this problem
Any other logic to solve this problem is also welcome

first of all thanks .your logic worked,but still i have some little bit of problem,
now the requirement is a master detail form where both master and detail is multirecord ,where detail cannot have duplicate record,
such as..........
MASTER:--
A code
A1
A2
DETAIL:--
D code
d1
d2 <-valid as for master A1 , detail d1 ,d2 are not duplicate
d2 <--invalid as as for master A1 , detail d2 ,d2 are duplicate
validation rule: A Code –D Code combination is unique. The system will stop users from entering duplicate D Code for a A Code. Appropriate error message will be displayed.*
actually i am facing a typical problem,the same logic i have been applied in detail section ,its working fine when i am inserting new records.problem starts when i query,after query in ' a ' field say 2 records (i.e. which has been earlier saved) has been pasted,now if i insert a new record with the value exactly same with the already present value in the screen(i.e. value populated after query) its not showing duplicate.................could u tell me the reason?and help me out...............its urgent plzzzzzzzzz

PRESENT. I COULD TRANSFER ONLY THE FIRST ENTRY , THAT IS : EBELN - 4900006375 AND   EBELP - 0010,
AFTER THAT THE ZTABLE IS NOT GETTING UPDATED TO EBELN-4900006375 FOR EBELP - 0020 AND SO ON.
I HAVE TRIED ALL THE ' MODIFY, INSERT, UPDATE ' STATEMENTS. I HAVE USED AT - USERCOMMAND - HIDE AND CHECKBOXES.
   PLEASE   SUGGEST   A   SAMPLE   CODE   FOR   THIS.

There are actually 5 queries in this report now. From what I understand about a union query, I don't think it will work here because the data being returned in each of the queries is so different. I basically need to know how to make all the criteria for each individual to be displayed before proceeding to the next data set, which will include the same data as the first, but for the next employee, and so on. I need to basically create a repeating frame with each individual's respective data I guess, but every time I do, it tells me that it's referencing an invalid group.

Payment terms - due date on a particular day of the week say friday?

Experts is it possible in SAP payment terms to configure a term such that due date is on a particular day of the week?
I want use payment term to determine due date for weekly billing cycle (sunday to saturday) for the invoice to be due on Friday net 27 days from mid point of the week
eg 1. if a customer is invoiced any day between October 4th to 10th, the due date should be Friday Nov 6th
eg 2. if a customer is invoiced and day between October 11th to 17th, the due date should be Friday Nov 13th
Is this possible?

You need custom development for this. Using custom development, Substitution in FI or User exit in SD
I. FI Substitution -
Create substitution with exit, for field day1 (BSEG-ZBD1T) and baseline date (BSEG-ZFBDT). In exit, determine number of days for required Friday from baseline date you want to use (say document date). This way, due date will be on Friday.
For determining Friday, use calendar or Ztables.
II. Invoices created in SD - If you are gerenating invoices in SD, use exit EXIT_SAPLV60B_008. This exit has table ACCIT which also has same fields Day1 and Baseline date. Follow same logic mentioned above.

Restrict Duplicate entry of record before saving the form

Hi!!
I need to validate duplicate entry of ITEM CODE before saving the FORM. Which means, if I have entered an ITEM CODE in a row, the same ITEM CODE should not be allowed to be entered in any other rows. It should throw an error message and should ask to enter another ITEM CODE instead. I did not get the correct logic from the threads.

hey i have a requirement that to restrict duplicate entry in both block(both multi record).the blocks are DEPT(MATER)
EMP(DETAIL)
the associated fieds in master block DEPT.DEPT_NO,in detail EMP.EMP_ID .
I have done' Kevin D Clarke’s calculated item ' both in master and detail block
its working fine for master block but in case of detail block its only respond to the current session(i.e. if the new value is inserted or save it will restrict another record to be inserted of that last record's value),it does not restrict duplicate value enter ,checking with other existing records(which are saved in earlier session,though after query it is shown on the form)
can anyone guide me why its not working

Bug with Data Entry Limits properties

When setting programmatically the Data Entry Limit (e.g. maximum range) the value of the control is coerced (response is set to coerce). This is not supposed to be since Entry Limits are only for FP entry.
Checked in 7.1 and 8.6

I agree. This seems like a bug. I checked in 8.6.1f1 on my home PC and it does just what you say.
I also tried to see if the problem occurred on the other end of the range in setting values greater than the Max and then resetting the minimum. And it seemed to behave similiarly. I can only save that back to 8.0 Here is that modification.
I'm a little surprised no one has stumbled across this before if you say it's been around since at least 7.1 We'll see if an NI person takes a close look and agrees it's a bug and will submit a CAR# for it.
