Bug in Latest Forms Patch - 10.1.2.3?

I have posted this information as a reply to another thread, but was wondering if this has been noted as a bug.
I recently upgraded my development environment from Forms 10.1.2.0.2 to Forms 10.1.2.3 and am now not able to compile a form that contains a reference to a database link within PL/SQL code.
The form has a trigger that contains an update statement as follows:
UPDATE tablename@databaselink set col = 'new value';
I tried the database link in SQL Plus and it is working fine.
Database environment is 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2008.
Please, note that I am not looking for a work around. I have found a work around in creating a view that simply SELECTs * from tablename@databaselink. I can then change my code in the form to update the view instead of the table.
I am just hoping find out if this has been logged as a bug and I am hoping to avoid doing this throughout my application as the need to modify forms arises.
Thanks.
James K.

Hello,
Did you simply try to create a synonym to this DB link, then use this synonym in your query ?

  • Oracle Forms Patch 10 for 8i

Does Oracle Forms Patch 10 apply to Oracle 8i or do you have to be on 9i? Also, does applying patch 10, catch you up on all previous patches (1-9)?.

The latest Forms 6i patch is 12. It is not 8, 8i or 9i specific. You need to check the related certification matrix and review the patch readme file to find out if the fixed bugs valid for your platform/configuration. For example, if you are running Forms 6i against a 9.2 database, the only certified 6i patch is 12.
The patches are cumulative - patch 12 includes previous patch fixes.
    hope this proves useful

  • Query Forms patch 14614795  readme pre-requisites

    Hi All,
Customer is getting FRM-92095: Oracle JInitiator version too low. Please install version 1.1.8.2" while using JRE1.7.0.21 .
After checking steve chan blog , https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/resolving_jinitiator_version_too_low came to know , patch 14614795 would solve this issue .
I am not interested in applying the bundle patch right now , so if i want to go with this (14614795 ) , i can see in 14614795 readme the below content as pre-requisite .
    NOTE:
    # 1. Please ensure the patch for bug 9593176 is already applied before you proceed.
    # 2. Upgrade to the latest OUI 10.1 by downloading and installing the same from bug 6640838
Now we are on 12.1.3 + 11.1.0.7(db) , do we really need to apply 9593176 ? if i we need to apply this then probably going for the bundle patch is very much preferable is it (14825718) ?
    Regards,
    Naga.

Yes you need to apply the pre-req patches listed, these are mandatory requirements
Per note 393931.1 "Deploying Sun JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12" the requirement is listed as:
"Oracle forms 10.1.2.3 or higher with Patch 14614795 or later (See Document 437878.1 titled, 'Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12' for the latest available forms patches)"
So you can apply the patches listed in Note 437878.1 as an alternative, which will also get you onto all the latest code, so this may be the prefered option for you
    Hope this helps

  • 11i upgrade - Step: Apply latest product patches (required)

    Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading 11.5.9 (DB 9.2.0.4) to 12.1.1 (DB 10.2.0.5).
As part of the upgrade steps in document titled *"Oracle® E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide Release 11i to 12.1.1 Part No. / E16342-04 / August 2010"*, I was directed to apply the latest product patche. Chapter 3, section 5.
I downloaded the latest copy of the patchsets.sh from Oracle and ran it with the following parameters:
    patchsets.sh connect=apps/<apps_password> available=metalink
This tool generated a bunch of reports including one called "Report.txt" and "Report_R12.txt"
Which one of these patches am I supposed to download and apply to be able to continue with the upgrade?

  • Bug in Oracle Forms 9i triggers

I've found a bug in oracle forms 9i. It happens when you have a select query inside a when-validate-item trigger and in that query you opt to show an alert when the query has encountered an exception...
When that trigger is fired, the alert will show even if the query returns a record(which means that it does not go through the exception). The solution is to recompile the said trigger.
Is this bug present in the other versions of Oracle forms?
Is there a patch for this bug?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I've consulted with some of my colleagues who have been using Oracle forms for more than 5 years now, and they said that the bug seems to randomly appears...The code works fine in the local environemnt (forms builder) and in the AS itself (compiled in Unix) but after sometime, the bug appears and they just compiled the trigger where the code of the alert is in...
Is there any logical explanation of why compiling a trigger (without changing any code) solves this problem?

  • Fbean doesn't work anymore after forms patch 10.1.2.2.0

    Hi everybody!
    I was working with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, Oracle AS 10g release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) and I
    was using Internet Explorer 6.
There was a limitation with IE 6, so I choosed to migrate to Internet Explorer 7.
Now I have Internet Explorer 7, Oracle AS 10.1.2.2.0, Forms 10.1.2.2.0.
I recompiled all the frames and libraries.
All the frames containing a java bean reached the FRM-92101 error. I had to destroy and
    recreate each javabean.
Now the frames reach the same error when calling Fbean package.
Do I have to recompile this package or something like that?
    How can I do?
    Has anybody got an idea?
    Thanks for your help.
    Christine

    Hi Ramesh,
I applied latest patch 6673231 (MLR#11, 11-FEB-2008) but the issue persists. On metalink I found SR 18299248.6 and Note:469848.1 on this exact problem.
However the patch has been removed from the temporary ftp location given in the SR, and its not in the latest merge patch so I can't get my hands on it.
Could you please get me this patch, or do you recommend me to open a new SR just to get to download this patch? Many thanks!
    with kind regards,
    Gerben

  • Latest Security Patch for Oracle DB 10.2.0.4 on 11.5.10.2 environment

We have SUNOS 5.10 with database 10.2.0.4 on 11.5.10.2 environment. The requirement is to patch latest security patch.
last patch was done 17-FEB-2009 ( retrived from registry$history). So, i would like to apply the latest security patch.
Please somebody let me know which one is the latest patch to be applied for this environment.
    Thanks

    Hi Hussein,
The customer can install CPU Patch or PSU Patch on top of 10.2.0.4. I agree with you but I think you are misunderstanding for what I am trying to say. Why not go for the latest Patch Set 4 (10.2.0.5) and then apply CPU Patch 9952270 or PSU Patch 9952230 on top of it (recommended). Every quarter, Oracle provides Critical Patch Updates (CPU) to address security vulnerabilities, and Patch Set Updates (PSU) to address proactive, critical fixes and security vulnerabilities. When deciding for CPU or PSU, please consider the following guidelines:
Critical Patch Updates and Patch Set Updates
The Patch Set Updates and Critical Patch Updates that are released each quarter contain the same security fixes. However, they use different patching mechanisms, and Patch Set Updates include both security and recommended bug fixes. Consider the following guidelines when you are deciding to apply Patch Set Updates instead of Critical Patch Updates.
    1) Critical Patch Updates are applied only on the base release version, for example 10.2.0.4.0.
    2) Patch Set Updates can be applied on the base release version or on any earlier Patch Set Update. For example, 11.1.0.7.2 can be applied on 11.1.0.7.1 and 11.1.0.7.0.
    3) Once a Patch Set Update has been applied, the recommended way to get future security content is to apply subsequent Patch Set Updates. Reverting from an applied
Patch Set Update back to the Critical Patch Update, while technically possible, requires significant time and effort, and is not advised.
    Regards,
    Shahid

The compiled program works fine on a sun with old runtime (108434-18)
and it failed on another sun with newer (108434-20) and latest runtime (108434-21) installed.
It also crash with pthread library and the old and alternative flavor of thread library.
Is this bug well known ?
--> it appears that we don't have any sun software support contract, is there any possibility to report this kind of problem apart from posting subjects in this forum ?

The problem might be due to bug 6421790, which was fixed in a patch, but turned out to break StarOffice, which played games with exception records. We had to remove the fix until StarOffice was changed. I expect the fix to go into the next C++ runtime library patch.
Without a service contract, the best you can do is to go to sunsolve.sun.com and check for a new version of the C++ runtime library patch (108434 and 108435 for Solaris 8 on SPARC).

clamd is running, user and group clamav all have the relevant permissions as far as I can tell, however upon scanning my mail, I always end up with the following error:
    Scanning error:
/home/username/.claws-mail/mimetmp/0000000e.mimetmp: lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR
Seems like a permissions error to me... maybe check the actual file it is attempting to scan... I know it is in your home folder, but just to be sure, you might want to check that everything is sane.

  • Latest Oracle patch for DBA 10G.

    Hi,
I'm looking for the latest Oracle patch for release 10G.
Is the latest Oracle patch 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.4 ?
    At the following link https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000332839&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&
when I click 10.2.0.4 is an empty folder that doesn't contain any patch.
    Best regards

  • Latest FSG patches

    Hi,
I need to apply latest FSG patches. for that i refered to doc. ID 549289.1. My doubt are all these patches cummulative or i need to apply one by one from bottom. ( I only have two of the patches listed in the document with XML). So shoud i apply from old one to the latest one or just the latest one is enough?
I have licensed XDO (XML publisher) and the PASTA version is 3.0.4
    Appl: 11.5.10.2
    Regards

    Hi,
Not all the patches are cumulative.
What are the patches you have already applied?
From the "Patch & Update" table, when you search for the patch it should say if it is included in other patch/patchset or not.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Latest SO Patch for Linux (120184-14) fails with postgresql plugin

    Hi,
the latest staroffice patch for Linux no longer works with the postgresql extension postgresql-sdbc-0.7.5. It can read tables but will not write back any modifications. The failure message is something about some routine not being implemented. I'm afraid I needed it in a hurry, so I reverted to the previous patch (120184-12).
My system is opensuse 10.3 running on an x86/64-it machine. uname -a gives
    Linux hostname 2.6.22.17-0.1-default #1 SMP 2008/02/10 20:01:04 UTC x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Does any body know of another convenient way of hooking SO up to postgresql?
    Regards,
    Charles

    Hi dcminter,
your right, sorry, this isn't a Java question. I followed a link from Suns StarOffice page and assumed this was a purely SO forum. I've just noticed the tabs on the forum window. There is a separate section for 'desktop'. I'll repost there.
    Regards,
    Charles

  • R12.1.1 - Step 12 - Apply latest product patches

    DB: 11.2.0.3
    OS: Linux x86
I am upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and am trying to understand what is needed for step 12, page 3-5 of the R12 upgrade document (Part No. E16342-04), "Apply latest product patches".
I have searched around and there seem to be multiple methods, all of which seem a bit ambiguous.
I have downloaded and run the patchsets.sh script. Can I use that to get an answer for this step?
    Thanks, Chaz
