BUG in the Graph/Chart scale management (one more)

Several problems affecting the dynamic management of X and Y scales have already been reported. Here is another one detected a few days ago : a repeated write of a constant value to the ScaleMarker.Position property node moves the scale away...
The attached vi illustrate this behaviour : Run the vi. The scale.Marker position is read and passed to a control. Then, the control is read repeatedly in a loop. Change the value of the control and watch the scale run away.
Tested on LV 7.1, on W2K and MacOS platforms

Hello Chilly Charly,
Thank you for this information. I tested your program and I agree that this behaviour seems strange.
Your message has been sent to the NI R&D and you will be informed of any evolution.
I modified your program to have better execution result: I add Event structure to change the value of property node when the user changes this value in the front panel.
See the attached file.
But in some cases, the problem still occurs.
Thank you again and happy LV programming.

  • How to convert the graph to gray scale

    Hi
I am using MS 1.1 version, I need to take the print of the graphs which is provided by NI. The problem here is that i need the GUI to show the graph in multicolor environment, but when i am going to print it on a paper, i should be able to convert into gray scale. Can you kindly suggest me what should be done to achieve this?
Is there any features which present in MS which can help an user to decide this conversion at run time.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sandy

    Hi Sandy,
I hope you are doing well today! What is MS? You should be able to use the invoke nodes of the graph controls to export an image and do some manipulations to it. Can you be more specific as to what you want to do and what kind of programs you are going to use?

That's me unplugging and replugging a device in different places. Note that the message appears multiple times each time I plug it in.
But this isn't just that one device (a galaxy tab if you're wondering). This happens with so many devices I'm going up the wall. It even happens with USB Flash drives! "I'LL JUST USE A DIFFERENT CABLE OH WAIT COMPUTER YOU'RE AN IDIOT."
Sorry, just so frustrated. I've tried the classic capacitor flush (turn off, hold power button in with power calbe unplugged) and it's been doing this for a while, so updates haven't solved it. Different types of devices too, not just storage. Even a keyboard did it one time. You guys got any ideas at all?
EDIT: Before that inevitable post comes, yes, I've plugged it directly into the ports that are attached to the back of the motherboard, please don't ask, please, please, please. I know someone won't read this whole post and will ask anyway but a guy can try.
EDIT EDIT: I forgot to actually say that usb devices do not work when this message appears.

If the errors are consistent across OS (ie LiveCD, Windows?)  then your motherboard is most likely on it's way out and needs replacing
You could try removing the motherboard cell battery and doing the "classic capacitor flush" again. Leaving the battery out for a period of time generally has the same effect and in "classic" IT style fixes numerous woes... have you tried a different cable?
If, after replacing the battery, the problem has disappeared I would still treat the hardware as suspect and have it replaced as soon as possible. These sorts of brain farts typically reappear sooner rather than later

  • How to display on the graph three or more waveforms where time scale is not an index of array but a real time

How to display on the graph three or more waveforms where time scale is not an index of array but a real time:
I measure three voltages Va, Vb, and Vc on my Test stands every 3sec. So I’m building four arrays (Va, Vb, Vc, Time) and combine all in one.

    Hi, thanks all your reply.
You may find "points_to_bar_graph.vi" from this website, I find it by this way.
I will ask a stupid question: I don't have any photo processing software, how can I save the vi into a picture format?
So here I just paste it into word document.

  • Adding one more participant to approve the task in workflows

    Hi All,
I'm having a requirement of adding the adding one more workflow user for approving the task. How to add one more workflow user in the human and allow him to approve the task which has been already approved by another workflow user, means it is hierarchical approval.
First the task has been approved by assignee then finally the task has been approved by the approver who has admin rights.

    Hi,
I have added the users but i need to approve the same task for twice then it is propagating the data to the other end. Is there any hierarchy that we have to
define for the user inside human task.
Everytime I'm approving the request for twice. How to approve the request for only one time.

  • Bugs in the new 3D graph (LV 8.6)

I already posted this report in the Breakpoint board, breaking the rules...
Therefore this is not exactly a duplicate post, since it should allow some discussion.
I just downloaded LV 8.6, as I could not wait to have a look at the new long time awaited 3D graphs primitives, said to run also on MacOS. This is a GREAT new feature. The 3D surface graph works great, but I also found some new bugs (probably known already by the development team since they are pretty obvious, but who knows...).
Additionnaly, I enjoy the idea that this seems to be the first LV 8.6 bug report in this forum.
OK, here we go : (all the bugs have been found on a WindowXP machine)
1 - As shown in the attached picture, a transparent cursor plane hide the 3D surface graph (but shows the axis)
2 - As shown on the same picture, the boundaries of a cursor plane are locked to the axis values defined by the axis autoscale mode. The cursor plane appears much wider than the axis.
3 - While in "perspective" mode, when the 3D indicator size is changed the graph switches to "orthographic" mode. An access to the property window is required to return to "perspective" mode.
4 - after an access to the property window, the graph (perspective mode) in the Render window is streched to fit the window area, but returns back to a normal aspect ratio as soon as the window size is slightly changed.
5 - As shown in the second attached picture, after a slight modification of the window size, the 3D surface is chopped of during a zoom-in.
6 - When the 3D indicator size is streched, the graph is also streched. That gives the graph a poor look during rotation. In the old 3D activeX the aspect ratio of the graph was preserved.
7 - (Not a bug, but a major lack of functionnality) I could not find a way to draw a 3D surface and a line on the same graph. This is easy with the old ActiveX and is a very usefull function when you want to represent the trajectory of an object moving onto a surface.
8 - (Not a bug, but a strong inconvenience) A predefined color spectrum is lacking
9 - (Not a bug, but a minor inconvenience) No logarithmic mode for the axis scales
I better stop now since my wife is desperately asking me to pack my luggage before we leave for NIweek ! See (some of) you soon in Austin !

I wasn't studious enough : adding a line (problem #7 above) is easy : just drop another 3D graph on the front panel, this will brings in a new create_plot_line.vi on the diagram. Get rid of the additionnal 3D graph indicator, and wire the previous one to the new vi. See the attached graph, where two yellow lines have been drawn on each side the base of the peaks.
Not yet possible to change the line thickness, but works nicely.
I now have to customize my function palette to make the "native 3D graphs" directly accessible.
One additionnal concern though : with the old ActiveX, it was possible (if not simple... ) to insert functionnal 3D graphs in Powerpoint presentations (see this thread). Is there any way to achieve a similar result with the native 3D graphs ?

  • Is this a bug in the xy-Graph?

    Hi Forum,
I came across this problem while working on this (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=478607#M478607) thread.
I add values from 0 to 1 to a XY-graph as in the picture below. (And only this way!)
When the user presses print a reference of the graph is handled to a sub vi.
In this SubVI there is another XY-Graph.
Now I copy all important properties of the MainVI-XY-Graph to the SubVI-XY-Graph.
This happens inside another SubVI, but this does not matter. The copy process could also happen inside the first subVI. Just a space saver.
Then the Image of the SubVI-XY-Graph is printed via a method node.
    What I found is :
Run the MainVI (SubVI MUST NOT BE OPENED)
Change the scaling of the x-Axis (eg from scale the x-axis from 0.0 to 0.1)
    Press Print
The file c:\pic.bmp will contain the graph, but the scaling will be from 0 to 1 not from 0.0 to 0.1 !!!!
If you run with the subVI showing itself, this will not happen.
And if you define the xy-Graph contents like this:the error does not occur.
For those who followed me until here:
Is this only in my mind or IS THIS A BUG ??????????????????
    Thanks for reading

  • Is it best to set waveform graph scale properties before or after sending new data to the graph?

Hi I'm wondering when is the best time to update waveform graph scale properties.
I am sampling data every 15 minutes for 192 samples, i.e. 48 hours.  I want to plot these samples with the x scale in absolute time mode so that x scale maximum is the current time and x scale minimum is x max minus 48 hours (172800 seconds).  I also want the intermediate scale markers to be 6 hours apart and to be multiples of whole 6 hours.  e.g. at 06:00, 12:00, 18:00.  This works OK using property nodes but sometimes the intermediate markers are on the 6 hour multiples and sometimes they are at 6 hours after the min scale marker.  e.g. 09:15, 15:15, 21:15.  Is there a way of guaranteeing that the intermediate markers will be on the 6 hour multiples?
    Thanks,
    Neville
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your reply.  I have discovered that I can achieve what I want by using an XY graph instead of a waveform graph.  I want X max to be the current time and X min the be 48 hours earlier with intermediate scale markers on multiple of 6 hours.  The XY graph in the attached VI does exactly that but I can't get the waveform graph to behave as I would like.  Is there a way of getting the waveform graph to behave as I would like?
    Thanks,

  • Bug? Unable to clear the graph from the timeline keyframe editor

Hello all, here's a first post from an FCP newbie.
While playing around with time remapping, I activated the Keyframe editor in the timeline (Option-T) and activated the Time Remap graph from its context menu. It promptly got a checkmark next to it.
After I was done, I was surprised to find that I was unable to deactivate the graph. Re-clicking the Time Remap > Time Graph item in the context menu does nothing: the checkmark stays there and the graph stays there. Selecting any other graph overwrites the current one and places the checkmark on the new graph, but this new graph exhibits the same symptoms as the previous one. There seems to be no way to simply clear the clip's keyframe editor from all graphs.
Has anyone else run into this?
The version of Final Cut Pro I'm running is 5.1.1.

  • Dynamic Height in Graphs does not work properly when the graph is in an list

    Help please,
I have an report in SQL Server 2008 (SP1) Reporting Services which uses Dynamic Height to dynamically increase the size of the graph for the data. For a single dataset this works great!
When I place this graph in a list/tablix (to display this graph on each group) things go bad... Only the first graph on every page is resized, all other graphs on the same page are equal in size of the first!
When I place a pagebreak on the lists property all graphs are drawn fine!! But then I will have a page for every question in my data (which can be a lot!)
What is going on here? Please help.

    Hi Jerry,
thanks for your reply, but this does not work. The graphs are now all the same size (the size of the first one that is), and on the same page for that matter...
It looks like the renderer calculates the value of the dynamic height only once on a page in stead of each graph. That's a bug in my opinion.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The inner workings of the report are like this: The data contains anwers from a survey by question, so i have a unknown count of answers with each question; I placed a list on my report with a groupingproperty on the question asked. On this list i place a horizontal bar-graph which must grow in height when it is too small. The dynamic height should be calculated like this =70 + (CountDistinct(AnswerValue.Value)*10) & "pt".
When i place this calculation in a textbox, every item in the group is calculated correctly. Each graph is drawn, but the graphs are sized only to the size of the first graph on the page. When I place a pagebreak after each list-repeat (so i get each question on a seperate page) each graph is drawn correctly! This results however in more than 100 pages with all used for just a few centimeters (think about trees!).
I'm using SQL 2008 / SSRS2008 with SP1 by the way ( without SP1, the behaviour is the same).
    Any more suggestions are appreciated.

  • Find a BUG on the SOA Suite ( Internationalizing Problem)

I am a java developer in Thailand.
I have 4 Java Certifications - SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD, SCJWSD.
I meet something wrong ("bug") when I play with Oracle SOA Suite.
    About my technical software :
-I use the Oracle Database XE (Universal).
(I cannot use the HTML DB to run your script from soademo_101310_preview - it's give me the error messages so I change to run the SQL from command. Although running the SQL script from the command line is O.K., the command window is not support the Thai language. It appear in Alien language that I cannot read.I try to change the command window option but It has only 2 font choices. Thus I cannot still do with Thai language in the command window.)
In control panel, the regional and Language Option, I set the standard and format to Thai (including Language for the non-Unicode program in Advanced Tab).
I am successful both insallation and deploy the SOA book application.
I follow the instruction in Oracle SOA Suite Quick Start Guide, 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0).
At the page 39, I find a BUG.
My created date on the BPM Worklist is wrong !!!
My computer time is 10 กันยายน ( September in Thai language) 2549 (Buddhist Time).
But the date I see in the BPM Worklist is 10 กันยายน ( September in Thai language) 3635 (Buddhist Time).
You can see the image at http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/5487/datehp3.jpg.
    I have 3 questions :
    1. How can I add the Thai font in SQL command line window (SQL*Plus) in Oracle XE ?
    2. Why does the HTML DB not support to run the uncomplete sql script ?
    3. Have any suggestion to correct the time problem. ( Internationalizing Problem) ?
    Thank you very much.

  • How do I set cursor.index to anywhere in the graph array?

I am using LV 8.5.1 and feeding an XY graph with an X-Y array of data. Only a section of the array is displayed on the graph. I have a cursor (single-plot).
I would like to set Cursor.Index property node of the cursor associated with the plot to the maximum index value of the graphed array regardless of the XScale range. I don't seem to be able to do it. I cannot set it beyond a certain number. When I rescale the graph I have a new maximum number. Is this what should happen?
To get around this, I am momentarily setting the XScale.ScaleFit property to 1, which then allows me to set Cursor.Index to maximum (I then immediately reduce my scale range appropriately). I am having to do this before every occurrence of setting the Cursor.Index in case the new setting exceeds the currently allowed maximum value. Just seems a bit clunky.
    Thanks for any help.

This is no longer a problem. My data is too big to feasibly be fed into a graph so am having to chop it up and use my own index pointer.

I am testing a newly introduced feature of Identity Column in Oracle 12c. I used EclipseLink (JPA) to access the database.
