BUG: NullPointerException during validation against ViewObject attribute

On an entity attribute I have a List Validator to validate the against VO's attribute. After migrating to 10.1.3 (from 9.0.4) we get this exception:

setCurrencyCode method is attribute setter, Terminal is the entity name. After server restart, it works well (reliably), but after some time, the error occurs constantly. I'm unable to reproduce this error on test system, it happens only in production
I worked it around by not validating against VO, but against query result. I will see tomorrow if will stop working again.
Did anyone have similar problem? ADF BC version in my JDev is 10.1.3.36.73, on the server is 10.1.3.36.53 - is it not some bug fixed?
Thanks,
Viliam

Hello!
It might be that you get a null attribute and are doing something with it, without first
checking if it is null? For example you retrieve a row and the attribute in the row is null
and do a substring on in.

  • XML instance validation against XML schema

    How can I get a reference on the error node object after
    validation against an XML schema ?
    Ex. :
    DOMParser domP = new DOMParser();
    domP.setXMLSchema(schemaDoc); // schemaDoc = ref. on an XMLSchema
    domP.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
    domP.parse(reader); // reader contains the XML instance data
    If an error occurred, I only get a message string. What I need is to get a reference on the node object which contains the error in order to retrieve its properties to the schema.
    I could then alert the user with a message such as :
    "Data xxx is not valid ; it must be comprised between yy and zz...".
    Did somebody solve this problem ? May I use the XMLError class to do this ?
    Thank you

    Hi Ray,
    Were you able to resolve this issue? I am encountering a very similar problem where I am not connected to the internet and it fails during the newSchema method on javax.xml.validation.SchemaFactory. I have attempted to implement the suggestions of ExtremeGardener and vidyut with no luck.
    Per ExtremeGardener's suggestion of replacing xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" with xmlns:xs="XMLSchema.xsd" and storing it locally, it gave me an error for trying to set the "xs" or "xsd" prefixes to anything other than "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema." I forget the exact error. I also tried to use my own prefix and it did not like that either.
    Per vidyut's suggestion of using a catalog resolver, I believe that I have tried that too (if I understand correctly). I created an LSResourceResolver and tied it to the SchemaFactory. I can invoke it for a namespace but that did not resolve the issue because it only invokes the resolver on an import, include, or redefine. I believe that it is trying to reach the internet due to the xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" attribute within the top-level schema element in the XSD and I know of no way to invoke it for that.
    I also created an ErrorHandler and tied it to the SchemaFactory. That shows me the errors and they are all related to the standard XML data types defined in XMLSchema.xsd. The errors that I am seeing are all of this form: "UndeclaredPrefix: Cannot resolve 'xs:string' as a QName: the prefix 'xs' is not declared."
    I am currently using the SchemaFactory in Java 1.5, but I am thinking about trying the Xerces SchemaFactory since they are not exactly the same implementation.
    Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    betzro1

    Hello jaden,
    Please edit tip.properties as follows and restart b2b. The log file will be generated at OH/ip/log/b2b/b2b.log.
    oracle.tip.LogType=text
    b2b.oracle.tip.DiagnosticLevel.B2B=DEBUG
    Make sure the delimiter used as part of configuring the document, i.e Document Protocol parameters are appropriate. The document might have validated in the spec builder as the delimter which is defined there might be different.
    Please setup a quick call if you still face issues.

    Hello,
    I just downloaded and installed Vivado 2013.4 on my Xubuntu 12.04 machine. But when I try to add IP from the IP catalog, as in the ug937 Lab1 step2, it fails with obscure error messages (see below).
    Here's basically what I did:
    -In the Flow Navigator, i select the IP Catalog button.
    -In the search field of the IP Catalog, I type DDS.
    -then I double-click the DDS Compiler and my error occure.
    Please Help,

    We had the same problem when switching to Ubuntu 14.04, and there actually is a solution for it: make sure your locales are set to English.
    $> env | grep LC_*
    should only show english (or C) locales, all others are known to cause parsing errors in some numbers, usually caused by wrong string-to-float conversions (e.g. 18,29 in german is 18.29 in english). You can change the locales in the file /etc/default/localesThis is not the first time we had problems with the locale settings, Xilinx does not seem to test their software with anything else than en_US, causing obscure bugs like this one.

  • NullPointerException during export or validate of toplink map file

    Hi,
    I'm working on an Oracle/Toplink 10.1.3 project (similar to say SR Demo). I'm trying to write ant scripts
    to build and deploy everything.
    All is working except for one step. When you build the model in JDeveloper, it creates a data map XML file. E.g. in the
    SR DEmo it produces SRMap.xml from SRMap.mwp.
    There is a good document explaining the steps here...
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/_html/mw008.htm
    When I implemented these steps in the build.xml file, I get a NullPointerException during the validate or export.
    I tried implementing the steps in SR DEmo's build.xml file and seem to get the same problem. Here's what I'm doing...
    I created a new file, toplink-ant-lib.xml
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <antlib>
    <taskdef name="mappings.export" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.taskdefs.ExportDeploymentXMLTask"/>
    <taskdef name="mappings.validate" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.taskdefs.MappingsValidateTask"/>
    <taskdef name="session.validate" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.taskdefs.SessionValidateTask"/>
    <typedef name="ignoreerror" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.typedefs.IgnoreError"/>
    <typedef name="ignoreerrorset" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.typedefs.IgnoreErrorSet"/>
    <typedef name="loginspec" classname="oracle.toplink.workbench.ant.typedefs.LoginSpec"/>
    </antlib>
    I then added the following targets to build.xml in the SR Demo...
    <target name="init">
    <property file="build.properties"/>
    <property name = "toplink.mwp.dir" value = "${srdemo.home}/DataModel/toplink/SRMap"/>

    That's using Toplink Workbench 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0)
    I'm using 10.1.3 JDeveloper with the latest (SU3) patch.
    Any ideas would be apprecated!!!
    Kind regards,
    Ciaran.

    Hi Karen,
    Thanks for the response.
    So are you saying we cannot build/deploy our project outside of the JDeveloper IDE?
    What we were trying to do is to automate the build and deployment using ant scripts. Then we could run say nightly checkout/build/deploy script to a test machine as part of a continious integration process.
    We can build all the code and even remote deploy it fine using ant, however we cannot build this data map XML file outside of the JDeveloper environment. I guess a workaround would be to check-in the generated XML file into our source code control. This sounds risky to me and also, our SCC system sets non checked-out files to be read-only and JDeveloper gives an error if it cannot write to that file.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Ciaran.

  • Additional ViewObject attribute

    Hi,
    I opened my friend's application which include a view controller and model, in his created ViewObjects, he can see Object, Array etc as attribute type of ViewObject attribute but if i created a new application, and a ViewObject. If i want to create for example, productName attribute in the viewObject, i can only see some basic attribute types for it (Boolean, String etc). I tried to copy all the libraries he has in his Model project to my newly created model project, still cannot see those additional attribute.
    Anyone has any idea on where do those attributes come from?

    hi,
    I have valid db connection
    Im talking about attribute type. I dont have : object, array, ordImageDomain, ordVideoDomain, REF, Character etc. Im much more interested in Object and Array attribute type but i only have the basic types. All i have is BigDecimal, Blob, Boolean, Clob, Date, Float, Integer, Long, String, Time, TimeStamp

  • Using XSL on XML validated against XSD

    Transforming XSD validated XMLType Data
    Re: example XSL in Chapter 6 that transforms XML with associated XSD schema definition (Oracle 9i XML Database Developer's Guide)
    I noted that this XSL uses only the "general" node identification functions (e.g., name() ) to access nodes in the <xsl:value-of select..>. I have also noted that standard XSL templates from other sections of the documentation, for example in Chapter 3 and in Appendix D, do not work with an XML which is validated against an XSD schema.
    Can anyone give me an example <xsl:value-of select..> that addresses a specific node in the "purchase order" example, like the shipTo, name, street -- or any other specific node. This is critical since there is always bound to be node-specific processing in any transformation, and this is not demonstrated by any example of XML which has been validated against an XSD.
    I have tried this endlessly on my own examples of XML w/XSD validation. Even if the value-of select="name(.)" tells you that the name of the node is "FooBar", you cannot use FooBar as a select test to do FooBar specific processing.
    Help?????

    Not quite understand your question. Can you send me the example doc?

  • XML validation against XSD

    Hi,
    Does Oracle 8i (Release 3) support XML validations against XSD? I know Oracle 9i (Release 2) supports XML validations against XSD.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Validate with DOMParser or the SAXParser.

  • XML validation against DTD.. Is it possible?

    Hello all,
    Sorry for what may be a trivial post, but I'll keep it short..
    According to the docs:
    "The Validate XML command will validate the XML against the schema defined in the XML file. This command on the context menu is disabled whenever an XML file does not have an XML namespace defined."
    I'm used to the XML editor retrieving a DTD from somewhere and validating it against that.. is it possible to do this in JDev?

    Unfortunately it's not. We only have support for validating against XML Schemas.

  • Update Bool_data during validation exit

    Hello Experts,
    Is it possible to update the Bool_data fields during validation Exit ? I tried Update and Modify but not working.
    Example,
    Lv_text = 'TEST01'.
    Bool_data-bseg-sgtxt = Lv_text.
    so after posting, we will find the FI document line item text = TEST01.
    I do not want to use substitution, so please avoid that
    Thank you

    Hello Krishna,
    You can not during a Validation Exit update the Bool_data fields.
    To do so, SAP have created substitutions.

  • Validation for 2 attributes in a single expression

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario such that I need to make 2 attributes as mandatory when I chose a particular
    Category node.
    Now I am able to write, execute validation for one attribute but when I write for 2 attributes, only the first
    attribute is being considered. Even if the second attribtue is not present, it says there are no errors.
    Regards,
    Pramod

    Hi Pramod,
    I have tried this thing at my side and its working fine.
    Please check the steps below:
    1. Create new validation and dont write any thing in the expression.
    2. Add a branch to this validation and select the node which you want to validate.
    3. Inside the branch expression just write IS_NOT_NULL(Attribute1) AND IS_NOT_NULL(Attribute2)
    select Attribute1 and Attribute2 from the Attributes list.
    4. Run the Validation.
    Regards,

    Log Message:
    Fix bug related to validation of plugin versions.  The fix is to load a dynamic plugin SWF twice.  The first time it's loaded into a separate ApplicationDomain, so that the class types are not merged (and Version.version will not have identical values for player and plugin).  If the version types are consistent, then the plugin is loaded a second time, this time into the same SecurityDomain (so that class types are merged).  The second load should pull the SWF from the cache, minimizing the overhead.  The downside is that the SWF will be initialized twice.

    Hi sebasvideo, Did you ever find a solution to this? I've been having the same problem for a few months now and it's maddening. Seems to be specific to the GPU like you say above. I noticed it most when using Element 3D. I thought maybe there was some sort of read/write interference as I have 2 SSDs and one HD with assets spread across all of them. But even when I consolidated all of my data to one drive the flickering kept happening. Not sure if it's an After Effects problem specifically... or windows 8.1? Or nVidia? Super frustrating thoguh.

  • JSPM upgrade Error during validation of the dependencies of the selected ho

    Hi,
    We have a strange problem, recently we have upgraded our server from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1 and after the upgrade
    as part of post upgrade steps I had to deploy few SDA/SCA files, while I am trying to deploy these files
    I am getting the error "Error during validation of the dependencies of the selected hot fixes" during the check queue phase and I am not able to go ahead..
    As I am facing the same error for three different kinds of SDA files, I was trying to apply SP03 for my
    JSPM version 7.11.0.0.119 but even here I am facing the same error.
    I am sure that what ever the files I am trying to deploy are correct because these are instructed by SAP.
    I guess I have some problem with my JSPM.
    Please help me.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Sonali

    Hi,
    There is no SDM in NW 7.1. All the deployments have to be carried out by JSPM itself.
    Sonali - Can you check the JSPM logs and give complete log ?
    Also can u mention the SDA file names ?
    Are they standard SAP SDA files or custom files ?
    Cheers......,
    Raghu
