Bug: package hierarchy is displayed 'flat' in Jdeveloper navigator

Hi,
suppose I have the following package (in accordance with java's guidelines for package naming):
package nl.ibuildings.myapp.submodule;
If I add a UML Class Diagram to submodule, it's displayed correctly in the navigator:
- nl
- ibuildings
- myapp
+ submodule
But in the 'other' items in the navigator (where the object entities appear) the hierarchy is wrong:
+ nl (with no contents other then a bc4j.xcfg and a nl.xml file)
+ nl.ibuildings (same 2 files)
+ nl.ibuildings.myapp
+ nl.ibuildings.myapp.submodule
Why isn't this structure in treeform?
Greetings,
Ivo

Hi,
Whether or not packages are shown hierarchically is an option in the navigator. Select the "Sources" node (or any node below it and use the navigator toolbar:
The modelers section of the navigator currently does not support all the modes that the main part of the navigator does. This is being tracked as an ER.
Thanks,
Brian

  • JDeveloper 10g CVS package hierarchy gone after check out?

    Hello!
    We are using JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 (Build 1618) together with WinCvs 1.3.17.2.
    We successfully imported with JDev a project structure as
    client/moduleA/ui;
    client/moduleA/db;
    client/moduleA/ctr;
    client/moduleB/ui;
    client/moduleB/db;
    client/moduleB/ctr;
    into my repository - connecting with a pserver.
    If an other pserver-User tries to check out the module CVSRoot, the package hierarchy - as described above - is gone.
    All files are mixed up in flat packages ,,Miscellaneous Packages'' and ,,Miscellaneous Files''.
    The created file structure is ok (the package hierarchy remained). But as mentioned, the Application Navigator just shows the flat Miscellaneous file structure.
    For check out with the ,,Check Out from CVS Wizard'', in step 4 of 4, the options
    ,,prune empty folders'' ,
    ,,checkout into Target Folder'' ,
    ,,Do Not Shorten Pathnames'',
    were checked.
    What do we have to do, to see in the Application navigator - after a check-out - the imported tree of packages, instead of a flat structure?
    Thank you in advance for your answer!

    Hi,
    Was the project imported to CVS at the same time as the package structure?
    Do the project source paths match the filesystem? For example, does the java source path match the root of the java source? Jdev normally puts files in a flat structure if the files are not in the right file system folder for their java package.
    If changing the project path does not fix this can you tell me what technologies your using, such as BC4J, struts, Tag libs, etc.. Then I can try and reproduce this here.
    Many thanks,

  • Blog post : "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)"

    hi
    Using steps 1 to 13 from the blog post "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)" by Andrejus Baranovskis, I have been able to reproduce the issue he describes.
    see http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/bug-in-createedit-view-criteria-wizard.html
    I the blog post comments he writes "... there was no time for me to fill bug in Metalink ...".
    Maybe someone from Oracle can pick it up from this forum post and file it as a bug if it is one (and if possible post the bug number here).
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    The mechanism is to create a reproduceable test case, create a Service Request in metalink.oracle.com, post the test case, and convince the analyst to file it as a bug.
    It may be not efficient at some time, but this the way it is handled.

  • Numbering nodes when loading hierarchy from a flat file.

    Hi All,
    I want to load a hierarchy from a flat file. When we number the nodes, do they have to be in a sequence or can I give them any number I want? I want to make the GL account number as the node number since it makes it easy to generate the node number that way. The way I see it, the important thing is the parent node number; so this approach should be fine. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks,
    Uday

    Hi Uday,
       You need to have a running sequence numbers for Node Id field in the flat file. The file structure is as
    NODEID  IOBJNM      NODENAME TLEVEL LINK PARENTID
    00000001 0GLACC     GL233344             00000001
    00000002 0GLACC     GL435556             00000001
    00000003 0GLACC     GL545666             00000001
    00000004 0costcenter cc433232            00000002
    00000005 0costcenter cc433233            00000002
    00000006 0costcenter CC555551            00000003
    The Parentid will calculated by the system automatically.
    when you prepare you file csv please ensure that you have 8 characters for the Node ID " 00000003" other wise you will get error.
    And if you want to add GL Account number to your hierarchy then you need to add GL A/c Number as external characteristics in hierarchy and add it to your flat file .
    Hope it helps.

  • Hierarchy format in Flat file

    Hi gurus,
          please tellme  the Hierarchy format in Flat file.
               ThanQ.
       Regards,
       Ramesh.

    Hi
    1.Defining the source system from which you want to load data:
    Create For a flat file, choose: File System, Manual Metadata; Data via File Interface.
    2.Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data:
    Create Application Component.
    Create InfoSource , Direct Update
    Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
    3.Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
    Assign Source System. You are taken automatically to the transfer structure maintenance.
    The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
    Attributes, Texts,Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
    The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
      4.      Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
    Choose the DataSource to be able to upload hierarchies.
    Idoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject, for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, during loading, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA, which affects performance.
    PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
    5.      Maintaining the hierarchy:
    Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy.
    PSA Transfer Method: You have the option here to set the Remove Leaf Value and Node InfoObjects indicator. As a result, characteristic values are not transferred into the hierarchy fields NODENAME, LEAFFROM and LEAFTO as is normally the case, but in their own transfer structure fields.  This option allows you to load characteristic values having a length greater than 32 characters.
    Characteristic values with a length > 32 can be loaded into the PSA, but they cannot be updated in characteristics that have a length >32.
    The node names for pure text nodes remain restricted to 32 characters in the hierarchy (0HIER_NODE characteristic).
    The system automatically generates a table with the following hierarchy format (for sorted hierarchies without removed leaf values and node InfoObjects):
    The system transfers the settings for the intervals and for time-dependency from the InfoObject maintenance. Depending on which settings you have defined in the InfoObject maintenance, further table fields can be generated from the system.
    The valid from and valid to field is filled if you select Total Hierarchy Time-dependent in the InfoObject maintenance. The time-dependent indicator is activated if you select the Hierarchy Nodes Time-dependent option in the InfoObject maintenance.
    6.      Save your entries.
    Depending on which settings you defined in the InfoObject maintenance, additional fields can be generated from the system. Also note the detailed description for Structure of a Flat Hierarchy File for Loading via an IDoc and for Structure of a Flat Hierarchy File for Loading via a PSA.
    Further Steps:
    Maintaining InfoPackages
    Result
    You have uploaded the hierarchy data for the corresponding characteristic.

  • Planning Level/Package names not displaying correctly in BPS0 (BI7)

    We have just upgraded our BW system from 3.5 to BI7.  We are running SEM 3.5.
    We now seem to have a display issue with the titles of some planning levels and packages within BPS0.
    On some planning level/package lines the display in the left hand pane of BPS0 is truncated with only a partial description, even though the full description is displayed in the right hand pane.  This is not consistent, as other levels and packages are displayed correctly.  It is not truncating at the same place in all instances.
    I have tried to delete the description and re-input it again, but the problem persists.
    Similar display issues occur in UPSPL in a seemingly random fashion.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Barry

    Hi
    Have just found out what is happening and the solution....but no nearer to knowing why.
    The display problem occurs in descriptions of planning levels and packages in BPS0 and in UPSPL & UPSPM.  Also when viewing global planning sequences.
    The cause is the use of "&" in a description text.  When this character is removed and replaced with another, eg "+", then the descriptions display correctly.
    I wonder if this is to do with "&" being a special character, which I believe XML doesn't handle too well?
    Anyway, I can now change the descriptive text and the problem goes away.

  • JSP pages not displaying images in Jdeveloper

    HI
    I am using lot of images in the JSP page.But the JSP pages are not displaying images in Jdeveloper in Design preview.
    Do I need to install Apache for that?I have not installed Apache yet.
    If so then what are the configuration or settings I have to do in Jdeveloper for Apache.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Which JDeveloper version? where are the images stored? can you share the code you are using to show such an image?
    Try this - create a JSP page and drag an image from your desktop onto the JSP page - this will add the image to your project - does this work?

  • Appl.  Hierarchy and Package Hierarchy - what is the Best practice ?

    Hi!
    We plan to create a Package Hierarchy in our system, but then come to think of the Application Hierachy is built the way we think of building the Package Hierarchy.  We planned to build a Main package called fex. HR and below a structure package called HR-PA and below that ordinary packages within that area. But should we rather create our own application hierarchy for this?
    Or should we assign the packages to Sap standard application Hierarchy in the HR area ?
    What is the Best practice in this area ? Have any tried to create their own hierarchies ?
    Regards, Tine

    Hi!
    You can create your own Application Hierarchy as well .
    From ABAP Workbench select Overview->Applic. hierarchy->SAP or Customer
    This is what SAP says about this :
    <i>The application component hierarchy is a method of splitting up the SAP System from a logical or <b>business</b> point of view. Packages are a method of modularizing the system from a <b>technical</b> point of view. This technical modularization can, but need not, match the logical division of the system. Assignments should be made however between these two views.</i>

  • How to structure my package hierarchy?

    As an inexperienced Java programmer, I am having a hard time understanding how to structure packages hierarchically.
    Let's say that I am developing a client/server AddressBook application. So automatically, the following package hierarchy comes to my mind:
    (company/org name is ACME for example)
    com.acme.addressbook
    com.acme.addressbook.protocol
    The above two packages form the reusable core of the AddressBook system and include classes such as AddressBook, AddressBookEntry, etc. and related helper classes. Additionally, the protocol sub-package contains classes that pertain to the C/S network protocol. And both of these two packages are packaged up in a jar: AcmeAddressbook.jar
    com.acme.addressbook.client
    The above is the package for the Client application: AcmeAddressBookClient.jar
    com.acme.addressbook.server
    The above is the package for the Server application: AcmeAddressBookServer.jar
    My questions are: does such a package structure and hierarchy make sense? Or are there any glaring mistakes that I have made?
    Is it acceptable to keep the client and server applications into their own separate packages?
    Also, is there any recommended limit for nested packages i.e. how deep should packages be nested within the top-level AddressBook package?
    I am struggling to understand good package design and package structuring conventions.
    Thanks any for any info, critique, advice, etc.

    Lets the two client and server packages are respectively :
    com.acme.addressbook.client
    com.acme.addressbook.server
    Yes, such a package structure and hierarchy make sense!
    If you are having common utility classes and many library jars inside the package addressbook.library, you can just refer in client as well as in the server package.
    If you are going to create separate project for client and for server, you want to maintain multiple copies, which further results in the problems due to redundant code. ie., whenever you changed any library files, you want to update in both places.
    You can create two jars as you mentioned as,
    AcmeAddressBookClient.jar
    AcmeAddressBookServer.jar
    Before building jars you just want to set the executable Main class appropriate for Client and Server before making the client and server jars respectively.
    There is no limit for the nested package, if you need to group meaningfully, you can make as many nested package as you want!

    Fix bugs introduced by the display object sharing optimization. This checkin should fix ordering problems when dynamically adding/removing graphic elements, and ordering problems when changing graphic element properties that require a display object (rotation, alpha, filters, etc).
    Bugs:
    MXMLG-219: BitmapGraphic component content always rendered from 0, 0 origin.
    MXMLG-220: setting visible property of Rect and Ellipse does nothing.
    MXMLG-222: setting the alpha of a rectangle changes z-order when there are 3 or more rectangles
    SDK-16754: Z-order incorrect when a Group is present
    QA: Yes - the test files from these bugs (or something equivalent) should be added to our standard test suite

  • Including packages in package hierarchy

    Hi,
    What is the purpose of including packages in package hierarchy?
    How can I define use access for them? what is the use?
    Please help me out in this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Lakshmi Reghuvaran

    Hello Lakshmi
    The <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/fd/f39de8ae6f11d596c000a0c94260a5/content.htm">SAP Online Help</a> says the following to this topic:
    <b>Goals of the Package Concept</b>
    When SAP created the package architecture in R/3 Enterprise, its goals were:
    To improve the structure of the software
    To encapsulate software functions more strictly
    To make well-defined interfaces available to all applications
    To clarify responsibilities
    The very same goals can be applied to your own packages, either if you are a professional software supplier for SAP or a customer.

  • Problems with package hierarchy

    If i create a simple package hierarchy like this:
    -trial
    - trial.subTrial
    and if i put an abstract class on trial, i cannot extend it on package subTrial (a strange error occur, saying that i'm not overriding the abstract methods, when in fact i am) . But if i put everything on the same package it's no problem!!
    I dont know if this is a problem of the IDE (i'm using netbeans), i tried with a very simple example, outside of the project, to see if it was a problem with my code, and the same errors occurred, or if it's some hierarchy concept i'm violating.
    Does anyone knows anything about this?

    Nop, that's not the case!! As i said, i made a project just to try this.
    This is the code of the only 2 classes of the project:
    package trial;
    public abstract class Trial {
    abstract void function1();
    abstract void function2();
    void function3(){
    System.out.println("BLA");
    } // End of Trial Class
    package trial.subTrial;
    import trial.Trial;
    public class SubTrial extends Trial{
    void function1(){}
    void function2(){}
    }// End of SubTrial Class

  • Hierarchial Table Display

    Hi all.
    A user has requested a hierarchial table display, consisting of header rows and detail rows, both with multiple but different columns.
    Something like the old FM REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY.
    For example:
    Purch. Order   Vendor   Name
       Item   Description        Material    Quantity   UoM
    3800000001     123456   Widgets R Us
       20     Blue Widget        WID001            2    EA
       20     Red Widget         WID002            5    EA
       30     Green Widget       WID003            4    EA
    3800000002     654321   Widget Warehouse
       20     Blue Widget        WID001            3    EA
    I have had a look at Table with Tree (DEMO_TABLE_WITH_TREE), but from what I can see this UI only allows a single column for the hierarchy structure.
    Does anyone know how to achieve a multi-column hierarchial display in a table ?  Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
