Could be a memory error -- run a memtest.

Does it reboot successfully?
Also, you really need to read this:
http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
reboot is success.
use pppoe,switch to wifi, has this issue.

    Hi. After upgrade to linux-3.6.2-1 my PC fails to boot with this panic: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/5/imag0085.jpg/ How do I fix it? I can provide more specific info if needed.

    It's 404
    I fixed the link (dropped the l in html).
    glenn69 wrote:How do I accomplish this when I cannot get past boot into the OS?
    Boot a live cd and chroot (see the wiki on chrooting).
    glenn69 wrote:Also, headkase, which log file are you displaying in your post?  I can access my disk via a live cd, but cannot find the appropriate log for my machine.
    That's the content of the email that I failed to link to properly.
    Does anyone know if there is a bug number for this? I'm experiencing this bug on my MacbookPro 7,1 (2010) too (I am forced to use IDE as sata is not supported on this machine in bios compatibility mode afaik).
    The title of this thread is rather non descriptive. How about name it something like:
    kernel 3.6 panic ("kernel NULL pointer dereference in pacpi_set_dmamode")

  • Kernel Panic: ...in module "ip" due to a NULL pointer dereference

    I already had 2 panic-s in the IP module over the last 24 hours. I am running Solaris Express 11 - snv_151a - 2010.11.
    I am trying to:
    - decode which function is failing
    - determine what's (who since its network) causing them
    - find a bug fix for the problem
    I have preserved both dumps via snapshots to be analyzed further as needed.

    I'm not seeing any obvious bugs relating to the stack. There's something similar but it was fixed in b147. Can I suggest and recommend that you raise a Service Request so we can review the data and establish if this is a known or new bug. When creating the new service request it will need to go to the network team so the following will need to be used:
    Product: Oracle Solaris Express
    Component: Protocols and Routing
    Sub-Component: IP - TCP/IP
    Once the SR is raised, we'll need the crash dumps and explorer from the host in question.
    If the crash dumps are of the form vmcore.n, then please gzip them
    If the crash dumps are of the form vmdump.n then they are already in bzip2 format so please do not compress them.
    Prefix the filenames with the SR number and upload them to https://supportfiles.sun.com and select "/cores" from the list of options in Step #2
    Explorer will collect the configuration from the system which is useful for reviewing alongside the crash dump. It should live in /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/ and can be executed using /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer. If it's not installed, please download it from Doc ID 6972175 - "Oracle Services Tools Bundle (STB) - Explorer, SNEEP, LWACT, RDA"

    Java programs are run by a virtual machine which is running in userland. They don't "mess" with the kernel.
    OTOH, each userland program interacts with the kernel through system calls, signals, pageing activity, ...
    My guess is that it's either broken hardware, or a fault in the linux kernel.
    Is the crash reproducible? Does ist always crash with the same error message, at the same "eip" location?
    If the crashes are sporadic and non deterministic, with different error messages each time, then I'd say it's
    a hardware problem. Otherwise, it could be a linux kernel software problem.

  • Occurred in module "ip" due to a NULL pointer dereference

    My solaris 10 x86 server would auto reboot 3 to 4 times at each day.
    System Config:-
    Dual Pentium III 1GHz
    VIA Chips Set main board
    512MB RAM
    LGI SCSI Interface
    Hitaichi 73GB SCSI HDD
    Seagate 120GB IDE HDD
    Intel VGA Display Card
    3Com 3c905 Network Card
    I removed all RPC and NFS function.
    Installed gcc form Solaris CD pack.
    And I compiled new Apache 2.0 + php + MySQL + FastCGI in server.
    Base this error problem, I have try to install patch(119076-05) and try to re-compile apache. But the error cannot fix.
    The BIG PROBLEM is the solaris 10 always auto reboot. Let my some files and MySQL database error.
    And I checked /var/adm/message get the following error message. Anyone can help me

    I have a server suffering similar symptoms. In fact, it's crashed 16 times since the 29/07/2005! It's been getting worse with more use.
    The server runs the latest Big Brother and Apache that shipped with Solaris 10.
    The server has the latest patches (via smpatch)

  • Mail for MAC - Unable to handle 2 accounts pointing to the same server

    Hi,
    I have two accounts on MAIL pointing to the same server.
    I am unable to send/receive mails from one of them, since they both point to the same SMTP server.
    Is this a restriction on MAIL for MAC?
    How does one over come this.
    I'd written to Apple support and even made an update suggestion.
    But obviously they dont care. It''s been over 8 months since I wrote.
    And I am seriously going MAD with this problem!
    I've even switched 3 ISP.
    Please help.
    Rayne Man

    Hi BobTheFisherman,
    Thanks for responding.
    So while I understand how mails work on mail servers with UID's and PWD's ...Here's the deal.
    When setting up an account, MAIL asks for the SMTP profile setting, (which includes the SMTP mail server). It then creates the SMTP profile.
    So if I have two accounts, I set up account 1 with the mail.xxx.com as mail server.
    While setting up the second account, I again use mail.xxx.com (as the SMTP server)
    So when if I have set up account 1 as the first account with the SMTP server ... while sending mail from the second account, it takes the the settings of account 1, and then the mail reply comes to account 1 instead of account two.
    Does this explain my problem?
    Do let me know, cause I reall need an solution.
    Thanks again.

  • Null pointer exception handling

    Hello everybody,
    can anyone suggest me that what is the standard way of handling NullPointer exception in OAF controller files.
    if you explain with examples i would be very happy.
    Thanks a lot
    Mofizur

    Hi ,
    There is only single way to handle the null pointer ,that is
    If(value !=null)
    // Do the manipulation with value
    thanks

  • Panic with Raw Socket-Page fault in module "ip" due to a NULL pointer deref

    I see a panic when using raw sockets with Solaris 10 10/09 (u8). I included a sample program that can cause this issue (panic happens when a udp datagram is received on port 60000). This sample code works as expected with the previous version I was using - 5/08. If I bind with a port number of 0 I don't see the panic but I don't receive anything either.
    I believe I have all the latest patches installed. I'd appreciate any assistance in resolving this. Thanks...

    I've recently started using IPQoS and the flowacct module to do some very simple tracking of bandwidth usage (along with one tokenmt action to meter traffic to and from one particular zone) on a host with multiple zones, running Solaris 10 x86, 118844-30. This host has been otherwise stable to date. A couple of hours ago, I got a kernel panic, apparently caused by flowacct:

    I had a single "kstat -m flowacct 90" running at the time, but the timing doesn't particularly coincide. My flowacct setting look like this:
    action {
    module flowacct
    name zone1
    params {
    global_stats TRUE
    timer 10000
    timeout 10000
    max_limit 2048
    next_action continue
    Pretty much a cut and paste from the Solaris 10 IPQoS documentation. This configuration didn't suffer any similar problems on a test host.
    I've searched various places, not had any joy. Obviously, I'm down a while on kernel patching (ironically, I've been holding off to minimise downtime for users, and now this.) But, while 118855-19 does replace some of objects in question, I see no mention of any particular fix for this problem. I'm going to go ahead with patching to 118855-19 (and whatever else smpatch recommends) within the next few days, but I've disabled IPQoS. I'm a little nervous about switching it back on on a production server. Shame.
    Anyone had any similar experiences with flowacct?
    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Good news, everyone! A repeat on a test host that's patched up to date as of last week, including kernel 118855-19. I'd tell you what smpatch thinks is missing, but "Failure: Response code was 403".

  • Java null pointer exception while getting a segment DFF handle

    Hi,
    my requirement is to make a field mandatory based upon a dff segment value (Y/N). i override PFR since segment is a poplist on the page (and poplists don't fire any event)
    i searched in the "view source" of the page and found that segment id is ActFlexField0
    when i click on save button i got "java null pointer exception"
    here is code:
    public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext oapagecontext, OAWebBean oawebbean) throws OAException
    +{+
    +//get a handle to AM+
    OAApplicationModule am;
    am = oapagecontext.getRootApplicationModule();
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this,"Root AM=>"oapagecontext.getApplicationModule(oawebbean).getName() ,1);+
    if(oapagecontext.getParameter("applyCreActBut") != null || oapagecontext.getParameter("saveDtlBut") != null)
    +{+
    +/*Conditional mandatoryness of IdContribuente field*/+
    +// first, find the flexfield's handle+
    OADescriptiveFlexBean oaDFF;
    oaDFF = (OADescriptiveFlexBean)oawebbean.findIndexedChildRecursive("ActFlexField");
    +//oaDFF.processFlex(oapagecontext);+
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: i got DFF handle", 1);
    +//oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: oamcb value is:"+oaDFF.getAttributeValue(), 1);+
    +/*+
    RenderingContext con = (RenderingContext) oapagecontext.getRenderingContext();
    Enumeration x= null;
    x= oaDFF.getChildNames(con);
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "After getChild", 1);
    while(x.hasMoreElements())
    +{+
    String aParamName = (String)x.nextElement();
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: DFF segment names are:"aParamName, 1);+
    +//OAWebBean dffbeans=(OAWebBean)oaDFF.findChildRecursive(aParamName);+
    +}+
    +//oaDFF.mergeSegmentsWithParent(oapagecontext);+
    OAMessageChoiceBean oamcb = (OAMessageChoiceBean)oaDFF.findChildRecursive("ActFlexField0");
    +//String sIsForeign = (String)oaDFF.getAttributeValue("Attribute1");+
    +//oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: Attribute1 is:"+sIsForeign, 1);+
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: before if", 1);it's urgent
    any help appreciated
    thanx
    N

    hi Keerthi,
    thank you.
    i tried with below code but still unsuccesfully
         +     oaDFF = (OADescriptiveFlexBean)oawebbean.findIndexedChildRecursive("ActFlexField");+
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: i got DFF handle", 1);
    OAMessageTextInputBean mtib = (OAMessageTextInputBean)oaDFF.findChildRecursive("ActFlexField0");
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Niccal: before if", 1);
    i am able to print 1° comment line but not second. so i think it's something wrong getting the segment handle.
    anyway i'm not able to reach your suggested if statement because execution stops before.
    Infact, if i comment line :OAMessageTextInputBean mtib = (OAMessageTextInputBean)oaDFF.findChildRecursive("ActFlexField0");
    page doesn't give error and saves data.
    any suggestion appreciated,
    thanx,
    N

    Radeon HD 7790 + Catalyst = Error: unable to open display (null)
    Greetings,
    I've installed Arch 2 days ago(migrated from Fedora), but I'm still a newbie to linux, so please have patience.
    I've bought AMD Radeon HD 7790 recently and decided that it's time to upgrade system, but since then I had only problems with it. No LiveCD I tried (Fedora 20, Mint)  worked properly in graphics mode, so I suspected problem in built-in drivers and moved to linux with text-only installation (Arch), so I could install drivers later.
    I've followed wiki manual and installed catalyst, removed open source driver, added nomodeset parametr to GRUB etc. but I'm still stucked, because Xorg won't start(black screen and errors presented in Logs). Tried googling, but learned nothing except Radeon proprietary drivers are comparable to suicide.

    I've managed to solve this error:
    (EE) AIGLX error: failed to open /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so, error[/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    There was missing library and few directories, which I found according to this http://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comme … _correctly at /usr/lib/dri, so I had to just symlink it. However, "unable to open display" error is still annoying me and Xorg is not working.
    EDIT: Found EE about missing commands in new Xorg.0.log and installed xterm to solve this. Now I don't have entirely black screen after startx. There is white rectangular terminal and fglrxinfo seems to be all right as it detected my Radeon and OpenGL. Now I have to install some DE, but that's another story. Marking as [SOLVED] and once again thanks to clfarron4 for reply.

  • Can't Find Null Pointer Exception

    Hey, guys! I've spent a couple of hours trying to figure this out, and I've been unable. When I run my program, I get a long list of errors that basically says I have a NullPointerException at Line 160 in LevelRenderer. I can't figure out what is null after tons of analyzing and experimenting, so I was wondering if one of you could assist me with this.
    First, here is the runtime error code:

            at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:122)Here's the code for the classes that are relevant to the issue. The runtime code is pointing me to the paint method's call of myLevel.drawLevel(gr, 0, 0):
    Here's the class that is giving me the error:
    /* This class's job is to render a level object.
    * The class will keep track of the top left coordinate of the space in which the player is moving
    * and how far the right side of the screen is. It will then draw the player always in the center
    * of the screen and allow the player to move the character. The character will animate with calls
    * to the Player class and also detect collision against the character. If there are collisions, then the
    * player will either fall or be unable to move. It will keep the screen image a little bit rendered
    * beyond the screen so that when the player moves, it will be able to still be visible until the next tile
    * is reached. It will update the screen every time the player moves and reference the level's collision
    * map for all of the collisions.

    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at LevelRenderer.paint(LevelRenderer.java:160)
    // method to draw the tiles on the screen
    public void paint(Graphics g)
    // draw the level and then the player
    myLevel.drawLevel(gr, 0, 0);
    myPlayer.drawPlayer(gr, (SCREEN_WIDTH / 2) - TILE_SIZE / 2, (SCREEN_HEIGHT / 2) - TILE_SIZE);
    g.drawImage(buffer, 0, 0, null);
    }So one of those three lines is line 160, and whichever line it is, is dereferencing a null pointer. So one of 'myLevel', 'myPlayer', or 'g' is null. Probably not 'g' as you received it as a parameter from Swing. Pretty much cuts it down.
    There's nothing here you couldn't have worked out for yourself. The line number was all you needed.

    Is there a reason why this is and how do I get by it.
    ii. Can I just add the field directly within the MDS>file/user.xml? Would there be an issue with changing an existing attribute metadata using the user.xml?

    Pradeep thank you for your response. it was helpful. However, I also found the responses to both my questions.
    i. The null pointer exception was due to using a complex query I was using in the LOV query. I tried a simple query and that worked fine.
    ii. For modifying the user defined attributes one can consult the following forum post:
