Build - Generates an "NTSC DVD requires at least one AC3 or PCM Audio track"

I'm using the trial version to make my first DVD with Encore. All went fairly smoothly until I went to "build" the DVD and received the "NTSC DVD requires at least one AC3 or PCM Audio track..." message. I continued with the build and tested the DVD. All the audio was fine except for audio assigned to my menus via the audio section, assigned from the motion tab, was not heard on the DVD. The Menu audio did however sound good from the preview mode. The audio that I tried to use in the motion audio field, was from a M2P file from the same clip that worked fine on the DVD. The video field was not set to anything on the motion menu.
My questions are: 1) How do I clear the error? 2) How do I get the Audio on my menus?
(Not sure if this item belonged in the forum, the error forum, or the audio forum - Sorry).
I don't even know for a fact that the error message was tied directly to the menu. I'm sure its something basic that I just missed - Thanks.
Eric

Thanks you very much, now I will be able to sleep tonight. My editing system (Edius) had both the ability to export my sound track to PCM AIFF & PCM WAVE, which worked great for the sound on the menus, as well as an elementary stream (M2V) format which worked good for the main sound track. I looked in the Audio Forum to find out about the elementary streams. The end result is that my DVD build error cleared as well as getting audio on the menu.
Once again, thank you both for your help.

  • Warning when making DVD...AC3, PCM audio tracks !!!

    Greetings,
As soon as i start the creation of a DVD using my MPEG-2 source files (MPEG audio.. not Dolby, etc) ... Encore shows a dialog box saying :
NTSC DVD requires at least one ac3 or PCM audio track for every title set. Do you want to continue the build?
I select OK but then the DVD it produces is unreadeable in DVD players. (But my pc DVD player and the DVD burner i used can read it.)
I tried to export my MPEG-2 assets from Premiere using other audio formats but then the files are way too big. (Please don't recommand using AVI format since it is not an option for my case... for many reasons !)
Note that it use not to do that... and the DVD i was producing were readeable in regular DVD players... i did created them with Encore and was not getting the warning message.
    Something must have changed somewhere....
It strange to see that i do not see this error/warning message on the Internet..(Except for one instance which doesn't provide any help.)
    Thanks for any help !

From the Encore DVD 1.x FAQ Entry,
What type of Audio files can I use?
2/. In general, all MPEG audio is best avoided. Until fairly recently, MPEG Audio was a required format for PAL regions, but this has now been dropped back to an optional format instead. This means that a DVD-V disc with just MPEG audio is out of spec, and may not play back correctly on some set top players.
3/. Mandatory formats are those that all DVD players are required to be capable of playing back. Optional formats are not required to be supported, and in cheaper players are often dropped.

  • DNS error - "requires at least one Nameserver"

    Hi,
I have a working Snow Leopard  10.6.8 server - working in all respects except DNS.
I decided to take the advice of posters on this site and turn off dns and re-enter it from scratch.
I was able to delete all of the settings on the Zones tab, EXCEPT for the primary zone.
When I delete it it just re-appears by itself !
I then try to enter the data that is correct for the name server by clicking the + button under Nameservers.
When I enter the correct data and click OK, it says "Some configuration data is invalid: The zone..... requires at least one Nameserver" !
Well... I'm trying to enter exactly that!
Anyone have any clues how to fix this?

I saw similar behavior recently on one server I was working on.   (This was with the 10.6.7 and associated server tools; haven't been down this path with 10.6.8 and the updated server tools.)
If what I saw is similar to what you're seeing here, then try this...
First, if you don't have a recent backup copy of your boot disk that you trust and are willing to use, then back up your boot disk before you proceed by booting a distribution disk and using Disk Utility to make a full copy of your boot disk to external storage.   This backup is your path back to operations if Badness Happens.
Once you have rebooted your system from your backup, stop DNS services and exit Server Admin, if either or both are running.
Then launch Terminal.app, and navigate into and delete or rename the Server Admin properties list file:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ServerAdmin.plist
Then relaunch Server Admin, and you should be able to fix your DNS services.
This is your local copy of the preferences file for Server Admin, not a system-wide preferences.
The "immutable" DNS settings were (after digging around) being recovered from the plist file.  (I've also had rare occasion to edit that plist file, when things go Really Wonky, and to change the immutable settings to some other temporary domain name, which then let me Get On With It All with the intended domain name.)

Instead of check boxes use radio buttons or a select.

This sub-forum is about creating reports for ColdFusion.

  • Does recording audio require at least one video track?

I needed to record audio while shooting a video and didn't have my handy Zoom with me.  I thought to instead set up Premiere to capture the audio.
I created a new, blank project, added a mono audio track, plugged a mic into my audio interface, enabled the mono track for recording in the audio track mixer, chose the input channel, clicked the record button, saw the meters bouncing - all well, right?
Well when I hit "play" - nothing.  That is, not until I dragged some black video into the timeline.  Then - it worked.
This is not how the workflow is documented in Adobe's "Help and Tutorials" manual.
It should be updated at some point - or this is a bug.

    hey tom
this can be done with or without scripts.
you say that you have a menu alreay with the different audio options, correct?
if you do, you would lay all your audio tracks onto its appropriate stream (A1, A2, A3).
then you go to your menu and set up the menu like you would any (create the menu name, drag a selector box to correspond to the highlighted button, etc.)
one this is accomplished, click on the button associated with audio track 1 (A1) and look at your inspector. click on the advance tab and you will see options for setting the streams angles, audio (this is the one you want) and subtitle. click on the dropdown box, and select A1.
then click on the on the menu button associated with A2 and look at your inspector again under the advance tab and you will see it reset itself, now again click on the doprdown menu and now associate that stream with A2.
do the same for the A3.
once you are done, verify the setting with clicking on the first menu button associated with A1 and you will see under the inspectors advance button that Audio stream 1 will be saved. your golden form there!
scripting the bad boy is a little more involved. there is an an article out there that goes through it with great detail.. do a forum search for "scripting audio stream" and you will find it.
    goodluck

  • NTSC DVD grey menu no audio

    Hi
I have been using Adobe Prem Pro 2.0 windows XP and using the inbuilt menu in Pro2 and works fine in PAL.
I exported this as a NTSC DVD and burnt a NTSC copy works fine.
However when it is played in the USA ona player of any kind it has a grey menu and no audio is on the disk. I have checked my settings and looks like it exported fine.
I even tested it before I sent it out. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    brightface

    Thanks everyone for your help.
I have checked the original PAL DVD disk to check on the structure. One has an open DVD details and some documents and the other is a video folder containing video files. I dont see this being an issue as we discussed past years have seen several different types of structure on a disk.
Getting back to my NTSC disk. I have enclosed a sceen shot of my export settings for my NTSC DVD.
Theres just one thing that I cant explain happens and thats when I select a greater quality say from 2.1 -5 and move the dial the setting changes to custom.
I am still confused about multiplex. So if someone could explain to me what that is about. You will have to bear with me while I try and grasp it.
    Am I missing something here.
Geting back to my animated menu that works fine in PAL but in NTSC is greyed out. I have gone back to the original AE file and exported it out as a QT instead of an AVI as for PAL.

  • How can I have multiple-selection list box "select at least one checkbox" option active only when the section it's in is visible?

    Hi, I'm using SP13 and InfoPath2013.
I created a custom form and published it to SP13 document library.  This form has many MSLB.  Depending on the checkboxes selected in the 1st MSLB, the other MSLB will either hide or show.  Each MSLB is in its own section.  The requirement
is to have each MSLB to have at least one checkbox selected.  Well, the problem is that when that MSLB isnot checked in the 1st MSLB it is not visible and shouldn't require any checkbox to be selected.  However, the form can't get submitted instead
an error dialog would pop up and ask user to make a selection for MSLB that is not even displayed.  Is there any way to fix this besides unchecking all MSLB to be not required at least one selection?  Thank you.

    Eric,
I follow your reply post here and still doesn't work.  I also noticed your screen shot of selecting a field is not the same as what I see in InfoPath 2013.
    Here is what I did,
1.Check At least one selection required for
    these Multiple-selection List Boxes
    as you want .
    2.Create a Formatting  rule for the 2nd
    Multiple-selection List Box.
    3.Add a  Condition as below:
    4.  I get a validation error if I don't
select at least one checkbox in the hidden MSLB control when submitting.
I think I'm following all the steps correctly
but please let me know if I'm not.

  • Different Audio Tracks when you import DVD VOB Files

I imported some vob files from a dvd and it only gives me the first audio track in premiere but i need the 2nd audio track. How do i tell premiere i only want the 2nd track?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Colin Brougham wrote:
... would like to know for the future how to resolve this issue.
If there is no way to get the 2nd audio track then i would consider that to be a bug that hopefully Adobe can fix in next patch.
Ideally when you import a vob fileset premiere should automatically drop all the audio tracks into the timeline, not just the first one.
Don't use a DVD, plain and simple. The fact that we can edit this stuff at all is just a handy shortcut that works most of the time. I suspect that, given the nature of the material and the far greater precedence for native editing of professional camera sources, this is about as good as its going to get. You can certainly report it as a bug (which its not) or request it as a feature, but I sincerely doubt that this would be given a great deal of priority.
I'm not saying this just to be a jerky naysayer: the fact is that there is limited time and resources that go into development of each point release and each full version, and the things that benefit the most people have the greater likelihood of being fixed or included. I'd be surprised if even 1% of Premiere users needed this functionality. Believe me--I've wanted dozens of things that I know won't ever make it into the program, simply because they won't benefit many people. But make a feature request and see what happens...
wow??  what a terrible, mean, and unnecessary negative response?  "jerky naysayer" ??  never heard that term, but it sounds accurate.
Thats like walking up to someone and saying "i dont mean to be cruel, but your fat and ugly"
anyways, not sure what your point is, other than you have a crystal ball that tells you less than 1% of the premiere users in the world ever need to grab a b-roll from a dvd and i think i could find plenty of people who would disagree with you. I have been doing digital video editing for 20 years and been using premiere for about 15 years now i think since it first came out. I work at a tv station with lots of other video editors and we have all needed to pull a clips off dvd's many times in our lives. Im sorry that i dont have an XDCAM HD video tape of the first moon launch to capture, so for now i have to grab a clip from a dvd.
Thanks for your attempted "help" but i'd rather you not hiijack my thread by negating my questions and requests. My company has purchased probably over a million dollars in adobe software licenses over the years and there is nothing wrong with my opinions and requests.
    thanks

  • How to burn a DVD with two audio track?

There is a projet with the original video and a second audio track with music. I want to burn a DVD with both audio tracks. When playing the DVD you should be able to select audio track 1 (the original sound) or audio track 2 (the music). With Adobe Encore DVD it was easy to configure the two audio tracks and burn the DVD. It is posible to do the same from Adobe Premier Elements 11?
    Thanks,
    Jordi

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not allow for supplemental Audio Tracks, when authoring.
I use Adobe Encore for this, but it is only available bundled with Premiere Pro. I do not know if some other, third party, full-featured authoring apps., like Sony's DVD Architect can do that, but I would suspect that they can. The specifications for DVD Architect should have that information, and as it's quite common in full-featured authoring apps., I anticipate that it has that capability.
If you do go with that program, our MOD, Steve Grisetti, has written a very good book on DVD Architect, and it's available at Muvipix.com.
    Good luck,

  • Highest res 16:9 for NTSC dvd

    I am making an i-dvd

two questions.. what is the HIGHEST/LOSSLESS quality codec I should be using?
    PNG? JPEG?
second question. i am making a regular DVD
but i want it to RESPECT 16:9 framing - meaning that a dvd player will know to scan the image and blow up to 16:9 (vs. black bars at 4:3)
so in respect to this, is there an HD codec that will give me the most resolution possible on a regular NTSC dvd player?
i have FSC 3. but i fear DVD studio pro, since it looks like the cockpit of a 747... im just a single prop pilot, if you know what i mean...

  • PAL/NTSC DVD player question

Greetings, Can I play a PAL format DVD from the UK in my Powerbook? Here is the info. from system profiler:
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-835E:
    Firmware Revision: GAN7
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB

    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media: No
I have read that if you play a PAL format DVD more than five time my settings will be permanently locked in the PAL format, and I will no longer be able to play commercial NTSC DVD's. Which would be bad. I do travel allot with the Powerbook and watch movies on the plane. Should I consider converting all PAL DVD's into NTSC? If anyone could shed light on this please advise. Thanks.

Here's the work-around I use, which just requires that you have enough free space on your hard drive to hold the entire VIDEO_TS file (up to 8 GB): Download the freeware program Mac the Ripper (Google it, then find a site that MacroVision hasn't hacked into and shut down, and proceed with the download and installation). Insert the DVD you want to watch. The DVD player in your Mac will then ask you if you want to use one of your few remaining region switches. IGNORE that dialog box altogether--just leave it open without selecting anything (if you select CANCEL it'll eject your DVD, so don't do that).
Open Mac the Ripper and following the clear instruction manual to set the controls properly copy the DVD into your Mac (I choose to save the file in the Movie folder). Takes about 20-25 minutes for most movies, and the copy you get is stripped of region coding. When that is done, close MTR, go back to the dialog box of your DVD player, hit CANCEL, and let the disk eject. Then reopen the DVD player, and have it open the VIDEO_TS file. Playback will proceed as if you were watching the DVD itself.
PS-if you want to burn a DVD backup stripped of region coding, you can use DVD2oneX2, a file-compression/DVD burning program available for a free 30-day trial, $30 thereafter. Works very well. Good luck & (hopefully) enjoy!

  • PAL to NTSC DVD compression questions

    Ok,
I have recently finished a dvd in PAL format with about 4.5GB total video once compressed. Now I need to get this into an NTSC version. Is it possible to use Compressor 2 to convert the DVD compressed clips/audio [the ones ready for PAL DVD] into NTSC format ready to build my project in DVDSP? Or do I need my original quicktime clips in PAL format and change them to NTSC in Compressor 2 then make them into NTSC DVD ready clips? Also what is the best setting for NTSC DVD in compressor that will be ok for the size of my final version [4.5GB]. Sorry about these questions but I made the PAl version with compressor 1 and there was far less settings to worry about.
    powerbook 12   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I'm pretty sure you need to go back to your Final Cut source material and re-export via Compressor by selecting 'advanced standards conversion' to get your NTSC files. Then you can import these into DVDSP as NTSC assets.

  • Converting NTSC DVD to Blu-ray or PAL DVD

Why doesn't Encore allow me to change a DVD project to a Blu-ray project with the ability to choose the frame size and rate, or to change an NTSC DVD to a PAL DVD? It looks like the option is there, but they are grayed out.
I exported my Premier Pro CS3 project for NTSC DVD, PAL DVD and Blu-ray, hoping to simply change to Encore CS3 project type, and then replace the assets with the appropriate file/format exported from Premier.

    >Maybe worth a feature request for CS5?
    God in heaven - NO!
As Joe just pointed out, these are 2 completely different TV standards, running on different frame rates at different resolutions.
The results of attempting this "on the fly" with menus etc would very closely resemble a dogs dinner.
    >I would therefore guess that you are stuck with copying the menus and other such assets into a new Encore project for each output format.
    That won't work.
NTSC is 720x480, PAL is 720x576. They have different PAR as well.
If compliance is what you need, then design your menus in Square Pixels at 720 x 540, and resize the image (in PS) to the required TV standard before importing into Encore. 16/9 is worse, as you need to use different designs for each TV standard. There are no short-cuts.
    Asset preparation should be done
    i outside
    the authoring application, never
    i in
    it.

  • Made a great NTSC dvd.  is there a trick to make this into PAL?

Hmmm... ok. so I made a great DVD in the NTSC format. It's wonderful! GReat overlays, submenus, the whole bit.
I made PAL copies of my assets through compressor, tried to put them in the project and was rejected. I changed the format in preferences to PAL and it didn't make a difference.
Do I have to go through all those steps again to make a similar PAL dvd? Is there a simple trick which will allow me to make a PAL dvd using this NTSC dvd I made in DVDSP? Something tells me I should be able to do it. Any pointers? much obliged!!!!!

I did as you said. Removed every shred of ntsc evidence. I was able to add pal copies of these videos easily, but when I went to burn the dvd it said:
