Building a rotationg Flash

Ok, I've looked around and I got ideas but I prefer to verify I'm on the right path.
I've taken 32 pictures of an item, on a rotating plate.  Then, I removed the background and kept the file in PSD.  I imported to library in Flash then created the "picture animation" that shows the item rotating.  I want to add button to control the rotation and I wish to add some SPAY area on some of the pictures so, when a user is looking at the item, rotates it at will, some areas will highlight and will provide the user with links to more information.
Should I use Firework to set the areas ?  then establish their relation in Flash ?  Or should I add links and compositions directly in Flash and build everything from there ?
I think I could do it both ways, but I wish to save time.  Which is the best option ?
Thank you!

I don't know what Fireworks would be useful for as an in-between step, though I am not certain what you are attempting to accomplish with it.  Personally I would just work directly in Flash if what I needed to do was doable in Flash.

  • Flex Builder 3 vs Flash Builder 4

Is there much difference between Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4? Just that I got them both through the student online form but since FB4 is newer, should I still keep Flex in my laptop?

I found FB3 rock solid and I loved only having one name space.
FB4 is quirky to say the least.
Only reason I don't switch back to FB3 is because FB4 changed the way states are done, and that alone has saved countless hours.  I love the way STATES are being handled in FB4!
CrazyMerlin, you got a url for the FB4 skin site.  wow that sounded x-rated...

  • Start to build my first flash website

I've learned actionscript form resources like video and
books. i read some serious tutorials and did many practices and
small projects. I'm trying to build my first flash website. do i
need to learn Flex? or anything else? do i need to study some other
courses? My problem is where to start. what's a structure of a
professional and serious full flash website? links? components (if
any)? and ... yes i've worked on small swf files. creating
actionscript effects, building some easy components before but i'm
sure they are not enough. and one more thing! is there any good
practical (and specially free!) tutorials based on this concept?
    (i've already reviewed actionscript.org and kirupa.com, thx!)

Your first question: subjective to your skillset. http://Zen-Cart.com has their own tutorials/FAQ/Forum that has plenty of information on the subject. Make your determination from the information they provide. It's free... download it and try it yourself to find out, perhaps?
Second question: you would not build additional product pages. There's only one product page that is populated with data from, wait for it... you guessed it, a database. If you're unfamiliar with working with database data then familiarize yourself with it if you wish to work on dynamic shopping carts.
I recommend http://Cartweaver.com if you want to work in Dreamweaver on the design and coding of the cart. It is very easy to implement your design into a cartweaver shopping cart.

  • Flash Builder cannot find Flash CS4!

I am hoping someone can help me with this issue, it's driving me crazy and I need this working for a project. Whenever I try to use a Flash Container component, Flash Builder shows this message:
Edit in Adobe Flash error: This feature requires Adobe Flash CS4 or higher to be installed
I have Adobe Master Collection CS4 installed, and I cannot figure out how to make Flash Builder find Flash CS4, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Mmm, no, I haven't tried that but I will, at least it will allow me to work with Flash content. Just so weird that Flash Builder cannot find Flash CS4, and I cannot find a reference to this error anywhere on the web.
    Thanks for the alternative!

  • I want to build a custom flash player for my desktop

I want to build a custom flash player for my desktop, using C# and Visual Studio 2008. Where do I start? I just want a real simple one to play swf files. Play, stop, loop, full screen, normal size. I'll start there. Where do I go? I've searched the web for an answer, and found several example projects that don't compile, or are incomplete. It's very frustrating. This shouldn't be that difficult.

I think you started the right way - looking for example programs.
If they won't compile, then they probably contain errors.  Fix the errors until they compile.  Then develop your own extensions.
This is one way of developing applications, the other way is starting from scratch.

  • Using flex4.1, Flash Builder giving error "flash.filesystem::StorageVolume could not be found."

    Hi there,
I'm trying to copy some files to Storage Card on a AIR application. Is this possible with the latest version of the AIR SDK (2.0)?
I am developing in Flash Builder. I have downloaded the lastest flex sdk(4.1)  and used it.
Flash Builder then recognises the StorageVolume and StorageVolumeInfo classes. However when I then run the app the debugger throws an error on the following line:
    LINE:
    var volumes:Vector.<StorageVolume> = StorageVolumeInfo.storageVolumeInfo.getStorageVolumes();
Note: I have imported both classes as well.

    I'v read the article
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2984004#2984004,
and checked my application.xml, The content of the first two lines is:

Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and Adobe Flash Builder 4 enable time-saving workflows. Learn how to develop content in Flash while editing associated ActionScript code in Flash Builder 4, switching easily between the two applications to edit and test.
    http://adobe.ly/w50IJm

This doesn't seem to work the same way in CS5.5 / CS6
In the video the class files are associated with the FLA, when you switch back to Flash Pro...
So far, when I follow these steps the classes are not associated with the FLA, the class field for the stage in Flash remains blank.
Also, clicking the edit icon in the properties of a MovieClip and allowing FB to create the file, does not associate the as file with the MovieClip.
Returning to Flash Pro and clicking the Edit button attempt to create a new file once again, but since the file already exists in FB it just remains on the New ActionScript Class dialog, with the Finish Button grayed out (because a file with the same name already exists in FB).
The resulting AS files for a given are created in a sub folder under:
    Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/[Project]/src-[Project]/*.as
Yet the FLA is located in Documents:
    Documents/[Project].fla
Should the as files exists with the fla, is a folder reference supposed to be set, or did I miss a step somewhere?
Is a source path supposed to be added to Flash Pro for:
    Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/[Project]
I am currently on a Mac, but noticed the same behavior in Windows at work yesterday.

    Hi Codex
    Welcome to the forum.
I suppose the only question is does your superdrive support dual layer discs?
Looking at your specs I'd assume it does. That being the case the only other thing to do is decide how the layer change will occur. I'm pretty sure the default is to create the layer break automatically but to check this highlight the disc icon at the very top of the Outline window. In the Disc Inspector select the Disc/Volume tab. Set the Disc Media to the 8.54gig option and the greyed out features below become available.
The simplest route is to just leave them all as default, but this will mean that DVDSP will choose a point at which the layer change will occur and that may be right in the middle of something where you don't want a slight pause while it jumps to the next layer. You can place a marker in your track which is a layer-break-point marker (tick the box in the marker inspector) forcing the layer change. From memory the DVD spec prefers Layer 1 to be larger than Layer 2 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) - all of this is covered in the manual so you might want to check up on the details there.
Then insert your disc and hit Build&Format.
    Happy Burning
    Cheers
    B

  • How to build a custom Flash CS3 component

I just googled in the hope to find some resources about how
to build custom Flash CS3 components, but nothing turned up. I also
couldn't find any info on Adobe's Flash developers center.
Do you know of any resource that sheds some light on this
    subject?
If not then I'll have to try to find my way around custom
components by learning from the ones that came with Flash CS3 I
    guess.

Flash CS3 has been out for a few weeks. At this point, your
best bet is Amazon books or Barnes & Noble. I've read a few
books that should shed light on the subject. Otherwise, you'll need
to wait a few more weeks while people start hashing it out and
posting it to blogs and other sites.

  • Flash builder 4 and flash 10.1 standalone debugger issue on osx

If I use the standalone flash debugger version (Flash Player Debugger 10.1.52.14) with flash builder 4 on osx 10.6.3 then this happens:
I compile the project and the debugger opens. If I click the red stop button then it never closes the debugger. I have to close it manually. Doing that means I have to use clean alot more and often up to 3 renders open after that.
If I switch over to the standalone "Flash Player Debugger 10.0.42.34" then the red stop button works fine and I dont get duplicate players launching.
    Anyone else experience this?
I don't use the web player versions.

10.1.53.64 is the latest standalone version. Could you please try with that version?

The documents at Mentor Workshop google code site were very helpful http://code.google.com/p/sdn-mentor-handson-2008/downloads/list
Now the problem I have is that I have no where to test these Islands that I build (Thomas was gracious enough to help me test my first Island in WebDynpro and I hear its working) ... I don't work for a company and do not have access to a company installation ... so I would like to setup my own basic test Netweaver instance where I could tryout my Islands. I'm hoping that someone here could walk me through the steps I need to get started ... which version should I install? from where? Once the install is done do I need to do anything else? what do I do with all the .nugg and transport files provided here... http://code.google.com/p/sdn-mentor-handson-2008/downloads/list
    etc.
I would really appreciate your help,
    Thank you,
    Mrinal

Hi. First thing you need is a NetWeaver ABAP system. You can download the trial from here.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2
Once this is installed, then you can install SAPlink, which will help you in importing the .nugg files.  If you don't have any NetWeaver ABAP experience, this may be a challenge for you.
