Business Catalyst and responsive websites

Good afternoon,
lets say I have created a responsive static webpage that I plan to make into a BC template with all of the appropriate css/javascript ready.  What will I need to do to make the modules responsive as well? add media querys and appropriate css to the module css file?
I am just trying to figure out how to marry a ready-made responsive design with BC so that all of the modules play nice.

So the Business Catalyst's modules have alot of customizability? For instance, can the eCommerce module be used to sell digital products? how about shipping options? can you set up weight base shipping? Can it handle international shipping? Can it handle selling both digital and physical products in a single checkout?  These are questions I can easliy answer with the Wordpress plugins I have used, but I dont know where to start with BC.
Like I said, I am seriously thinking of switching to BC as it is an all-in-one solution and everything is made to work together nicely, with Wordpress there is often many of times you have to fight with a plugin to make it work with the rest of the site and I am getting tired of it.
But if I cannot offer a solid solution with BC to my clients, I cant see switching.

  • Business Catalyst and Creative Cloud: double-payment

Last March (2012)  I subscribed to the most basic level of business catalyst ($97.00 per year) to publish my website.
At that point I didn't know that Creative Cloud would include a basic subscription to Business Catalyst.
In May (2012) I subscribed to the Creative Cloud which included this basic Business Catalyst.
Now (in March 2013) Adobe has written to me for $97.00 again to pay for Business Catalyst and they have sent me an email saying they will discontinue service in 7 days.
How do I discontinue the $97.00 Business Catalyst account and transfer hosting to my Creative Cloud account?
Last time I tried to do something like this, it was hours and hours and hours to resolve it.
Am I better simply paying $97.00 for Business Catalyst even though it is included in Creative Cloud simply because I will have uninterrupted service?
If there is a chance that I could reconcile this without undue pain and struggle, could someone tell me how?
And whether it is indeed possible?
I have a very small but well-established business using Muse. I really can't afford the interruption nor hours and hours of fighting to resolve this.
    I would appreciate any help.

    Hey GARRogers,
If you have any sites that have been redeemed as Creative Cloud sites, we cannot change the billing for these sites and once your Creative Cloud subscription expires, so will the site. However, sites that are being billed directly by Business Catalyst are separate to Creative Cloud. So if your Creative Cloud subscription expires, the sites being billed directly by Business Catalyst will remain unaffected.
If you have any sites that have been redeemed as a free Creative Cloud site, I recommend creating a new trial site via your Partner Portal (http://www.businesscatalyst.com/Admin/Index.aspx?to=PartnerPortal), and either republish your site from Muse to this new trial site or if you did not use Muse, migrate the data over as per this article: http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/203/bc_2038.html.
Once you have done this, take the site live via your Partner Portal > [select site] > Upgrade and if applicable, remove the domain from your previous site and re-add it to this new site.
Feel free to PM me directly if you would like me to look at the billing for any of your sites.

  • Business Catalyst and Social Media Updating

I'm new to Business Catalyst and aside from link integration between BC hosted websites and Facebook, etc, is there an application that would allow automated post updates to the primary social media pages, similar to functionality that third-party email marketing service providers are offering. If not yet available, can anyone recommend an add-on service that might expand the social media reach. This seems to come up in every client consultation.

Complain to the Attorney General about what? There is nothing in your story worth any such complaint. They will tell you the same.
First you have payment difficulty so credit and the Edge program are not available to you. You have to be credit worthy to get any upgrade, unless you can pay full price for all those new devices.
    Can you?
You are trying to get new contract plans, but since you are having paying on time and in full issues you will not get extended credit from any carrier.
What I would do is go and port out to Boost or Virgin Mobile where you pay a reduced cost for each device and get unlimited everything for $40 to $50 a month, it is pre pay so if you don't pay you get cut off.
Verizon although with the best coverage is also the highest priced.
    Good Luck

How to get a Business Catalyst account using my Adobe ID?
    thanks

    Hi
Like you said, it was provided by university, I assume you have Teachers editions of Creative Cloud, which does not includes free websites.

  • How do i install business catalyst and typekit with creative cloud if they don't show up?

I just recently signed up for creative cloud and learned about muse.  I would like to take advantage of the business catalyst and typekit, but when i open my application manager, neither are available for download.  Am I missing something here?  are they built into the other program downloads?  I'm confused–please help.

    Am I missing something here?
Yes, you are. They are merely services built into Dreamweaver, Edge and Muse and accessible via the respective BC and CSS panels in those programs.

  • Business Catalyst and HTML5

Is there any known issues using HTML5 with business catalyst in late 2013? I have seen posts a year or more ago saying it had issues with HTML5 Boilerplate. I am just starting with Business Catalyst and would like to start developing for it. I am just trying to figure out if I need to stay with xhtml and div's instead of the nice new HTML5 shineyness...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The index.html page for the site is at www.ariesplumbinginc.com/index.html
Even though the code in Dreamweaver shows that it is just starting off with the <html> tag at the top, and it also shows this in the admin editor, BC is publishing the page with the following:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
       <!-- BC_OBNW -->
BC has converted the <html> tag into the above. I made some other changes to the page that need to be tweaked to validate for HTML5, but I did not change the entire document type. BC did that on it's own.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If you have a link to one of your own issue free HTML5 projects, that would be good too. I opened a ticket for it with BC help and they said it was confirmed as a bug in the system, but didn't give any time estimates for when it would be fixed. If you are able to use HTML5 without issue, maybe you know something BC support does not?
    Thanks

Our iPads work just fine behind a firewall and the Lightspeed filtering solution in an education environment.  If your proxy solution cannot be configured to support IOS maybe you should be looking at another vendor.  Products such as 8e6 and Lightspeed can be deployed without the use of a traditional proxy set up.

  • Anyway to build a form outside of Business Catalyst and connect it to the platform?

I am trying to do one of two thing to accomplish what I am trying to do. First I am trying to build an order form that allows a user to add a field as they go. So if I have three fields for one product. One for a product name, one for a SKU number, and one for a quantity. I would like the user to be able to fill this out and then if they have more products to add they can click a button that says add another item and then another set of fields shows up. I am either going to create all of these fields in a business catalyst form and then figure out how to hide these fileds with css and or javascript, or I need to build this form outside of business catalyst and figure out how to connect the form to the platform so I can still have it go through a workflow. Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice on how to do wither of these items?
    Thanks

    Hi Mike,
Rich has an idea. To get you started I've built something similar for booking multiple seats, but your form will not take bookings and instead it will be a standard form with some credit card fields. See this example http://demo.businesscatalyst.com/booking-multiple-seats
You will have to have a set number of fields. You can not add fields on the front end dynamically. Also, my example is quite primitive. You have to specify the number of products before you start adding them. You cna change this by adding something like "Add Another" field to the form whcih will reveal the next set of hidden fields and so on.
Before you start building anything note that you will have to use a seamless gateway. Can't use something like PayPal standard.
    I hope that helps!

  • Muse, Business catalyst and email forms

    Dear users,
I'd have a request about business catalyst and email forms.
I made a simple web site for a test by Adobe Muse. In the contatc area I add an email form of Muse which requirs business catalyst. I subscibe a trial period with catalyst, tested it in its host and it was ok. Now I'm going to create a new site which is going to be published in a personal wed address (www.domainname.com) Is it enought to pay for a basic subscription of business catalyst, or do I need additional stuffs? Please consider that the site will be hosted in a different web space than catalyst
I thank you in advacne for your kind collaboration
    Best regards

  • Business Catalyst and FlexNav Question

HI everyone, I am doing a lot of responsive websites these days and I am constantly looking for good responsive navigation solutions. Recently I came across FlexNav, and tested it out, and it seems like a great solution to me.
I do wonder about its usability with the Business Catalyst dynamic menu system though. Am I able to add the required class, and data-breakpoint pieces into the <ul> tag? Example: <ul data-breakpoint="800" class="flexnav">
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Try using the menu module version 2.

  • Business Catalyst and Creative Cloud - I'm completely lost - help!

Okay, I am a Creative Cloud subscriber. It is my understanding that I can host five websites with Business Catalyst. However, I did not design my site using either Dreamweaver or Muse and so I just want to ftp my files into one of my sites. But I can't figure out how to access a control panel for Business Catalyst through Creative Cloud (the cloud control panel just keeps telling me to download Dreamweaver and Muse). I tried access it without the cloud, through Business Catalysts website directly, but all it would do is sign me up for a trial version as my Adobe login did not work for Business Catalyst. This whole system is completely confusing to me - I feel like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole.
What am I missing? Is there a panel that I can access through the Cloud that will allow me to ftp my files into one of my sites? Or, if I go to Business Catalyst directly is there a way to link it back to my Creative Cloud panel? How do I set up the 5 sites I get with being a Cloud member if I'm not using Dreamweaver or Muse?
Any information or point in the right direction would be helpful!
    Thanks,
    Deona

  • Business Catalyst and Facebook problem

I have seen threads on this subject as well as the articles, but I am not certain the problem was answered. I have added a Facebook "like" button to my Large Product Display (and the button works). The large product display has several upsell/cross-sell items on it.
When I am testing it, I go to my FB page and look to see that it has indeed been posted. However, 2 problems show up.
    1. The photo shown is not the main item, but one of the upsell/cross-sell items.
    2. The descriptive text is using my footer text as the description.
    Where did I go wrong?
I want to use the main photo and the product description (both of which are in the product's information). Is there a modifcation I can make to the module? Is something else needed?
    Chuck

For this you would use the Open Graph Tags, in this case the < og:image > and < og:description >.  These are going to be Meta tags you will place in your Large Product Layout, using the image and description tags as the Meta content. Then when the page is loaded BC will place these into the head tag of the website.
    Something like this:
    <meta property="og:image" content="http://yoursitehere.com/{tag_imagepath}"/> //relative path might work, i tested a absolute path
    <meta property="og:description" content="{tag_description}"/>
Another option is to use custom fields to populate these values.
This page describes the Open Graph tags you can play with:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraphprotocol/
You can also use facebook's debugger to find out what info facebook is pulling from the pages you’re looking at, so you don't have to like and unlike things.
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
    Hope this helps you.

  • Business Catalyst and Adobe Edge Animate

I have created an animation in Edge Illustrate.  I place it into my website using Dreamweaver CS6 as my editor.  The animation runs fine in preview in browser, however when uploaded to Business Catalyst, it does not run.  Does someone have experience in ustilizing Edge animations in BC website?  What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you.

    Liam:
Thank yo for the reply.  Here is how I have the Edge incorporated into my page:
I have the Edge runtime section in the Head.  I have the stage incorporated into div id "Column_1.  The Index_Desktop_Animation_2edgePreload.js is in the same directory as the web page (Index.html).  I put a / in front of the preload script as you suggested.  I also tried using the full directory http://pharmacure.buseinsscatalyst.com/ in front of it and it still did not play, although this played in preview this way.
It still does not run as shown.
