Business Graphic in a pdf file.

I have to create a downloadable pdf file containing a dynamic business graphic.
Can you suggest the best technique to achive that?

I finally succeeded.
I made a Web Dynpro View containing a BG UI element, where I drew my graphic. Then I got a .gif image of the graphic with the following code:

   IWDBusinessGraphics bg = (IWDBusinessGraphics) view.getElement("myBusinessGraphicsUIElem");
   byte[] img = bg.getImageAsByteArray(null, null);
   String img64 = Base64.encode(img);
As shown in the code, the image is encoded in a base64 string and (not shown) is inserted in a node context, in an attribute of type String. The node is shared with an Interactive Form, where there is an Image Field.
Just bind the base64 string to the Image Field, and that's all.

It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?

How can I display an animated graphic in a PDF file or slide show?

I have a simple animated graphic comprising eight layers in a PSD file created in Photoshop. Can I create a version of this which can be included in a PDF file or a slideshow. I do not want to display it on the web. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I'm confused now. Just how would an animated GIF be different from an animated PSD (if there IS such a thing). Sounds like your best bet would be to use the PSD to make an SWF and inport THAT to the PDF, because you can use an SWF in a PDF and it will play.

Not to my knowledge. You can relink email messages based on the email address but there isn't a way to re-link journaled files.

Adjusting brightness of graphics in .pdf files.

How do I adjust the brightness level of my color graphics in my .pdf files in Acrobat 9 Pro? All graphics are printing way too dark. Printer is a brother 9840 MFC color laser. Thank you.

The color on your screen will never agree with the color printed. The
colors you see on your screen are formed by using combinations of Red,
Green and Blue (RGB). The colors when printed are usually made from the
colors (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black---called CMYK). The colors made
on your monitor are from combining light of different colors. The color
on a page is formed by combing toner or ink to form different colors.
If you use a color postscript printer the colors will be printed using a
CMYK model. A cheap inkjet printer will try to use CMYK, but for the
most part it is faking it.
It is very complicated to get good color reproduction. The steps involve
calibrating your monitor and your printer, so that your software knows
something about how the colors on your monitor and printer look. This
discussion is way beyond my ability to communicate effectively. Color
management is very complicated and fortunately, my work has never
required high fidelity color work.
Perhaps, someone can step in to recommend some reading that can lead you
in the right direction.

[SOLVED] How to export a selection in a PDF file as PDF ?

I tried a lot of PDF readers, but none of them supports exporting a selection as PDF. Okular have a similar function, but it can only save selections as JPEG or PNG. Alternatively, I can take a screenshot of a selection in one PDF reader, but still JPEG. I want to use this function to crop a selection such as formulas, vector graphics inside a PDF file. I know Preview.app in OS X works great for me. I am wondering if there is any alternatives for Linux. Thank you so much.

Maybe take a look at: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gpdfx/ or maybe one of PDF's editors like MasterPDFEditor (free for non-commercial use), pdfeditor etc. Or one of converters like pdf2html and after conversion plug html (or the other format) into LaTeX document. Or... make OCR on PDF and then plug document saved in even plain txt format. Also, there is this utility: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/ … b/pdfpages (and in AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/latex-pdfpages/) - maybe it will be helpful for you (I don't use LaTeX).

Writing in a PDF File

I'm applying to colleges now and one of them doesn't have an online application where you can fill it out online and send it in online, rather, you have to print it out and fill it in and send it. Is there anyway that I can fill it in on the computer and print it out with the responses typed in?

You can do some limited editing using OS X's Preview.
There's a shareware program called PDFPen that will allow you to insert text and graphics in a PDF file without using Adobe Acrobat. The "lite" version is $50.00. Unless you want to spend that for one-time use I'd print out the form and fill it in by hand. It would be a lot faster that way, not to mention cheaper.

PDF files on mobile Devices with iOS and/or Android

I would like to use PDF files (with embedded JS Code) on Smartphones and Tablets with iOS and/or Android.
Are there Apps out there that not only display the contents (the "graphics") of the PDF file correctly
but also execute the embedded JS Code properly on such devices?
And if so, which Versions will be supported for
     Adobe Pro?
     iOS?
     Android?
Are there freeware or shareware Versions available?

Since the mobile devices, smart phones, tablets, eReaders, do not support JavaScript the app you use will need to provide the JavaScript support. Not all apps provide this support for JavaScript. The apps that support JavaScript only support a limited number of features so you will need to test the PDFs, the device and the app.
The version of Acrobat that runs on your computer will not work on your mobile device since the CPU's, Central Processing Unit, machine code is very different since the devices have different CPUs and the storage space to hold the code on the mobile device is much less than your desktop or laptop.
Adobe Mobile Reader does support some JavaScript but not date formatting and not document level JavaScript.
Expert PDF for the iPxx supports the largest amount of JS but still does not support all the possible JS that could be used in a form.

Iam using Business Graphics in Web dynpro ABAP, the output business graphics image to be export in PDF file. I have Customizing XML file in MIME object and CL_IGS_CHART_ENGINE class is there. But I dont know how to use that class in Web dynpro using Customizing XML as input or any other solution is there to get PDF file.
Please help me to get PDF File.

I assume you can: get the data, pass data somewhere where the picture is generated, get the picture back in some useful/ common picture format. Now you need to create a PDF with the graphics.
1) go to transaction SFP - create an interface (just like DDIC structure, create a node/ element for every data element that will be passed to the form, if only picture, create a XSTRING element called PICTURE or something)
2) create a form in SFP based on the interface from 1)
3) drag interface data (left) and drop to right (form context)
4) open form layout
5) put image field on the layout (not image, it MUST be the image field)
6) goto tab Object - Binding of the image field, set the binding source to your XSTRING node from interface/context
7) save, activate
8) write a generator program for adobe form
9) run program
Note: I don´t know if you have any experience with adobe forms, I don´t know if you have ADS for adobe forms installed or even if you can have this service installed.

Opening PDF File in VB6. Application is Busy message: Switch To or Retry

A legacy VB6 app uses an OLE Container to open up a PDF file in Adobe Reader, with the below code:

The users have started reported instances of this leading to the following message:
"This action cannot be completed because the other application is busy. Choose Switch To to active the busy application and correct the problem"
With options to 'Switch To' and 'Retry'. Selecting these options do not do anything.
Any ideas how to resolve?
A few observations:
1. The are running on Server 2008 R2 64bit
2. The are running Adobe Reader v10.1.4
3. I have also noted Adobe reader 9 is also installed
4. I note that when this occurs there is more than one instance of AcroRd32.exe listed in processes. If I kill these processes the message disappears
5. The user have reported it does not occur all the time
6. When I have been able to recreate this in my own environment by reducing OLERequestPendingTimeout the problem is resolved by selecting 'Switch To'. Selecting 'Switch To' does not resolve this problem for my users.
7. When calling this code in my environment Adobe Reader opens in front of the VB6 app. In the user's environment it opens behind the VB6 app.

You need to switch from using VB6 at this point. As of the latest update, VB6 compiled applications will stop working with Adobe Reader. See the following KB:

I've exported my pages graphics document as a PDF file and can't seem to reduce the file size without compromising the quality of the photo's used even after choosing "best" quality. I'm trying to send the file via e-mail but it's too big. ??????

I am trying to e-mail a graphics pages document I made as a PDF file. After trying to resize the file, the photo's quality is compromised (really blurry) even after choosing "Best" quality. What am I doing wrong. As a regular full sized file (PDF) it's fine, but when it gets reduced, it's bad and it needs to get printed from the e-mail copy I'm trying to send. HELP! Please.

If there are a lot and/or large images the file will inevitably be large, no matter what.
You can reduce them down as far as possible by cropping and scaling them to the final size before creating the pdf. You can do this by opening the images in Preview .app and using Menu > Tools to reduce the resolution and to crop.
If you have used transparency effects eg shadow, reflection, transparency, 3D charts, OSX will by default render these at 72dpi in the pdf.

I think you are converting a scanned PDF to word.
You might need to run OCR first to make the text recognizable and then convert it to word.

PDF files not printing correctly, only prints graphics (Vista)

Can anyone help me out? When I print a PDF file it only prints certain things,,,,,seems to print the more graphic items and not just plain text. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader. I can print fine to my printer from other applications. HP support was no help.

i might be having similar issue, my hp prints strange/alien looking font with vista/reader/pdf, looks fine on preview though. 'print as image' is the only solution i can find but it doesn't work for me..

Hi,
You need to create a UI element of the type BusinessGraphics. You then have to insert it in the view. Proceed as follows:
       1.      To edit the view click the view with the secondary mouse button and choose Edit.
       2.      In the Outline window click the default container RootUIElementContainer with the secondary mouse button and choose Insert Child.
       3.      Enter the ID BusinessGraphic in the field Name.
       4.      Select the type BusinessGraphics.
       5.      Choose Finish.
Finally the URL of the used Internet Graphics Server (IGS) must be defined for the inserted BusinessGraphics-UI-Element.
       6.      In the Outline view select the node BusinessGraphic [BusinessGraphics u2013 Child].
       7.      In the Properties view select the line Elementproperties of BusinessGraphics u2013 igsUrl and enter the URL of the used Internet Graphics Server.
