Health Care SAP Business model
Hi,
Greetings.
As a part of our Health Informatics degree and MBA/MS specialization in Healthcare, we at Georgia State University are exploring options to create a classroom SAP Business model for the Health Care industry (similar to Global Bike and/or ERPsim - which is primarily water bottles and Muesli). Has anyone in this forum tried something on those lines ?
The model that we intend to design should bring out the nuances of the Healthcare industry specifics.
Any experience shared will be highly appreciated.

AtlantaSumantra,
Hi! What your thinking of is very interesting! My first thought is that it would be worth considering an extention off of Global Bike which is designed by professors for professors and their students... Creating this curricula and data sets along with their scenarios is a big undertaking... Building an offshoot from a current, major program might makes sense vs. starting something from scratch (that's your call though!)...
Suggestion...keep it simple... Try to identify one area that works for you...
From SAP Healthcare here are some examples - http://www.sap.com/industries/healthcare/solutions-overview.epx
"Quickly access disparate data u2013 anytime, anywhere
Make better decisions with relevant and trustworthy data
Collaborate easily with patients and other care providers
Mobilize your healthcare professionals
Make your workflows more integrated and efficient
Reduce process cycle time"
Perhaps you think of a bicycle race with hundreds (or a thousand plus) racers. You provide a First Aid station or testing which is connected to a local hospital, an ambulance, the police to help with their safety. You have the idea... you can assess this scenario or another...
Good luck!
Best regards,

Difference between Business Process and Workflow
Hi all,
What is the difference between Business Process and Workflow? i have googled it and I don't really understand that complicated definition? Is there any examples to illustrate the difference between the both?Hi,
I will try to put here , my perspective of this. If somebody knows better, they can update further on this.
Business process is purely on the perspective of the users. It may or maynot have anything to do with the system. When a draw a business flow diagram, we dont take care of how each and every process is handled in the system. The best illustration is an example of authorisation.
Let me say that I create a Purchase requisition. Once it is released a PO will be created by procurement managerD
This is a business process. However if we look at the system perspective, it can be like this.
1. Create a PR.
2. Check the value of the PR
3. If value <$100,an email needs to be send to person A, if it is $100 to 300$, an email should be send to person B and if >$300, an email should be send to B and C.
4.Once it is released, an email shoudl be send to D for creating a PO on this PR.
Here not only the process, but also how the work is delegated across various entities of the process is mentioned.
There are softwards like VISIO which actually take care of the business process in the perspective of the entities involved in the process. A workflow is a moredetailed version of business process with the roles of entities clearly defined and hence configured well in the system.
The concept is workflow is mostly used in the processes of authorisations, business activity monitoring(BAM), etc.
Hope I make it little clear to you.
You can reward if my response is of some help to you -
What's a Business Process, really?
Hello,
in the thread BPX? A Techno functional Consultant? suggested to me her weblog <a href="/people/marilyn.pratt/blog/2006/07/27/what-is-a-business-process-really's a Business Process, Really?</a> for some clues, and added it's now <i>the time to start a thread and expand</i> about this topic.
Effectively there are some helpful definitions in the Wiki FAQ page. Nevertheless I think a discussion about the concept of Business Process is absolutely worth. So your contribution is welcome!
Cheers, Davidea business process is a series of steps that are undertaken to achieve a goal.
Analysing BPs is like looking at a fractal. As you zoom in there is more detail that contains more processes.
eg car company
Shareholder view - build car, ship car, sell car - build car - cost? time?, ship car - cost? time?, sell car - price?
Factory forman view - materials in on time?, assemble time? six sigma?, quality check six sigma?, test passs rate?,
So a BP has a series of steps...so BPX job is to asks "can any of those steps be automated AND what's is the saving on automating the steps"
A good BPX
1. Finds the broad areas that are the biggest cost to an organisation - ie talks to some high level people looks at the accounts due dilligence type stuff...
2. Analyses processes - ie produces Visio process flows of what workers do (the skill here is getting the processes mapped out at the correct level - not to high not too low). Rate the steps in the process for variance across the organisation. How many times will this process be run...which steps require a human intelligence (ie hard to automate)...which steps can you augment/speed up with computer logic...which steps can you replace with computer logic...which steps are best left to humans...
3. Review processes with the busniess and score them in terms of greatest value.
4. Pick your SAP tool that best fits the process step and implement the process, test and roll out -
Personally I think the BPX role is not often somthing you're going to find in an individual. Small teams of 2-4 people working very closely with different skill strength areas are going to be successful in this area -
Solution Directory - How to lock a business process for a implement project
We have Solution Directory assigned to a maintenance project and I understand the checkout/checkin process and how it locks the business process in the Solution. What is the best practice when you are starting a new IMPLEMENTATION project that will impact existing business processes that are in the Solution? I know that I can copy from the solution to build the new project, but it doesnu2019t lock the BP from the solution.
I have a new Implementation project, that i want to checkout/pull existing business processes for the Solution Directory.
*How can these Business Processes be "locked" in Solution Directory as they are with a Maintenance project?*Kelly,
You would use the maintenance project to make daily modifications.
Consider the case of a O2C business scenario. You need to almost make daily configs etc, which get pushed through, such things will go into a maintenance project.
But if you plan to enhance O2C with a CRM front end or include a better planning solution or TPM or something, then you are looking at an implementation project.
Rule of thumb. Short Scale changes : Maintenance Project, Long term/major enhancements : Implementation Projects.
Also In this case to speak about the lock down. Well the Solution Directory kind of takes care of that for you.
I am assuming that you have a solution populated with business processes. So now if you want to enhance it with a new functionality, you would use an implementation project. So when you define the implementation project, and then navigate to Solar01, and try to add business scenarios , ensure that on the Structure tab you select the Solution as the source. This ensures you are copying content from your current, updated, productive solution. Once you do that, the implementation continues on its track, whilst daily support processes are managed with the check-in / check-out functionality of the Solution and the Maintenance Project.
You technically do not need to lock the business processes down, since the Compare and Adjust functionality of a solution will help you identify the deltas between the Solution and the implementation project and you can always make those adjustments post go-live and thus just update the Solution at one shot. Also remember that with SolMan 7.1 the Compare and Adjust functions can be used with Template, Implementation and Solutions in any permutation-combination.
Hope this helps.
Plz let me know if you need any additional information
Cheers!! -
Business Process Analytics - Analysis Section
Hi,
I have configured multiple Solutions as part of Business Process Monitoring and all of pre-requisites has been taken care for performing Business Process Analytics.
We do select the "Solution for analysis" (under Key Figure Context) After applying the timeframe. However unable to see the second solution from the drop down as it always displays only one solution to select. Anything else to be done ?
Regards,Hi LAKSHMINARAYANA
Judging from your comment, Analytics seems to work for 1 solution at least.
So I consider basic setting (like activating Analytic cube, RFC connection) are fine.
Please check following point.
1)Does your user has authorization to access other solutions ?
By using authorization object D_SOL_VSBL(field name SOLUTION), you can still
control the access to the specific solution in Analytics.
The object might be in role SAP_SV_SOLUTION_MANAGER or SAP_OP_DSWP_BPM.
So please check whether your user has filter to specific solution.
2)The satellite system has enough ST-A/PI release ?
To use analytics, satellite system needs ST-A/PI version M.
If not, please update ST-A/PI.
3)Extend time frame.
Sometime, there is no data for specific timeframe.
So maybe you can just extend the timeframe to see.
2011/1/1-2010/1/1 <= Instead of 2010/1/1, let's use 2008/1/1
Best Regards

Solution Manager 4.0 and SAP R3 4.7E - Business Process Repository Question
When I am in solution manager setting up my business processes (solar01) to select my logical component with the drop-down I do not see my SAP R3 ERP 4.7 system available for selection. They do exist in my SLD (SMSY) and all the components with the 4.7 system. Does anyone know why they are not showing up in the drop-down for business process repository selection help?
Thanks
Skip FordHi,
For how long the installation process has been running. Check the following.
1. The virtual memory page size that you have assigned.
2. The hard disk free space.
3. The Virtual memory should be optimized size, should not be larger than the free space available.
These are performance optimization settings.
I guess the installation would take around ten hours, I am not sure.
But one thing is sure <b>SAP</b> is not that bad to get aborted abruptly.
Keep Patience while installing. Before that take care that your system satisfies, requirements.
Hope I was clear. Feel free to get back, incase you face any problem.

PhD - Sustainable Business Process Design
Hi,
Just read the two great threads on PhD's in the Business Intelligence - Faculty Club forum... but since my topic is more related to Business Network Transformation I thought it best to ask here.
My proposed PhD topic is all about understanding what elements of a business process design makes it more sustainable than an other design.
Clearly this is a highly interdisciplinary topic covering (at least):
- Economics (efficiency / effectiveness)
- General Systems Theory / Systems Dynamics
- Industry Engineering / Work Design
- Industry Ecology / Environmental Science
- Public policy
- and of course, enterprise Software
I'm working on a few leads already (Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia Canada and MIT for example)... but so far I've not found too many people doing research focused on Business Process Design. Lots of people doing work on Business Process Management Systems (BPMS), lots of people doing work on the science and/or policy end of sustainability... but little on Business Process Design and Sustainability.
(Aside: I find this lack of research a bit odd given that in a business network / value chain , it is the design of the overall end-to-end process, crossing multiple organizations, which ultimately determine how sustainably the process's output are being produced)
Any thoughts / ideas in terms of academic's, journals, articles or institutions which are looking at the sustainability crisis through the business process / business network design lens would be much appreciated.
Thanks
AntonyHello Antony,
Your PhD topic sounds right on the button. I can only speak from local experience but around half of my members in the UK&I are starting to use Business Objects as a means to teaching students the concepts you describe in Business Processes - at one of our members for example we are working to support an Engineering Doctorate looking at the use of Business Intelligence in business processes using technology such as the iPad as a BPR analytical tool 'on the shop floor'. This would fall more under element (2) of your list. But you're right - each of the elements are crucial. My only advice would be that when you start out you go down a path which you find enjoyable and rewarding as this will enable to to stick to the PhD, and then also narrow the topic to a point where you can achieve the research in your lifetime. No joke - I've seen plenty of PhDs that wanted to map the world because of course everything is inter-related now. The trick is knowing where to draw the research boundary. I can certainly also point out some contacts at the like of Warwick and Cambridge Universities that have done BPR relating to health and aerospace but I'd suggest going with Jeff's suggestions first as he will almost certainly know people closer to you physically (not that that really matters anymore!)
All the best - and very best of luck!

ERP Business Process Manager position
Hello,
I am an Executive Recruiter looking for an ERP Business Process Manager that has full-life cycle SAP HR experience. I have a client in the Central Pennsylvania area that is looking for a full-time employee. I was hoping to use this forum for referrals or potential interest. This position is permanent, but my client is open to sponsoring or someone with a consultant background. Please let me know if anyone would like additional information. I look forward to hearing back from anyone that is interested in learning more. Take care.
ChrisHi there,
I've been trying to find more information about the same subject but it does not seems to be a very popular issue, I'm shocked!
I've learned that 10g came with a workflow server buy it's not longer offered in 11g. The reason of course is to sell oracle BPMN/BPEL; unfortunately these tools are way out of my budget, they are good tools but extremely costly.
Therefore, i've done some research about open source alternative that i could merge with apex applications to include routing, approvals via email, notifications, etc. And luckly there are a lot, too many to list, take a look at the link below
http://java-source.net/open-source/workflow-engines
Let me know if you find osme other alternatives,

Health care benefit plan -- Smoker
Hi all ,
While configuring the benefit plans under health care I create cost variants where none of them selected the option Smoker. IN the infotype 376 I marked my employee as smoker. While trying to enroll to benefits from HRBEN0001 my assumption is that none of the plans will be offered since my employee is smoker and none of the cost variants checked smoker. But still I am able to enroll in one of the plans.
How is this cost variant controlling the employee in the enrollment process. can anyone please explain me .
Thanks,
Daniel.Hi,
I believe when specifically checked as smoker, the plans will be only available to employee with smoker checked. Though never tried this.

Business Process for Cement Industry
Hello all,
I am an Indonesia
I am new to SAP
I just graduated from college, now I work in a cement company
The company uses SAP, I was placed in the department of business processes
Without going through the training process, I was asked to understand the business processes in SAP that they use. They gave me access to the development server.
But it's still hard for me to understand the business process.
Can anyone help me? from where I had to start
I apologize if any mistakes...
Thanks..Hi
That is ot correct to udnerstand the business process from SAP. it is difficult.
your company needs to provide the existing Business Process scenarios and how are they mapped to SAP with all scenarios documentation. Then, it would become easy for understand and digest and take care of issues.
Thanks,

Business Process Procedure for Internet sales
Hi all, can any send me the Business Process Procedure for B2B and B2C Scenarios.
thanks in advance
[email protected]Hi Vasanth,
Well in both the cases the generic business process will not be very different.
I mean in both the cases authentication will be there from users.
once you enter into the webshop you will have the options of make inquiry, order, delivery status, billing status
Infact a visit to any webshop like ebay may be of help to you.
You need to take care of folowing details also:
How are incomplete transmissions handled and reconciled?
How are duplicate transactions reconciled?
What authentication method is used for the customer?
What credentials are passed to SAP?
Are the credentials encoded and triggered within the web?
How are such SAP external credentials stored/ protected?
If storing static credentials by process, are the execute versus read authorities assigned on the web as defined by the operating system (OS)?
Are there considerations made for load balancing?
Between SAP systems and clients?
Between web servers?
What roles and responsibilities exist for business processes?
Is IT, through configuration, managing business agreements?
How are changes to the web site tracked and reconciled with SAP transport
strategies?
Is SAP data stored externally on web servers after extraction?
How is this external SAP data protected?
Does the web server force SAP data to expire?
What are the business and process costs associated with all of the above and is
management aware of the business risk of not taking these steps?
Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.
Regards,
Rakesh
P.S. you can send me a mail at my mail id [email protected] for any specific details -
Did Did the designers of the Federal Health Care Insurance Exchange get hired on at Verizon?...given how the pre-order is going it sure looks like it
You keep using the word insurance. Do you pay extra for insurance from Asurian or is your iPhone being replaced under the manufacturer warranty ? This second option is not insurance so you would have to contact Asurian directly. With this insurance there is a paid premium each month on your cell invoice, you have to pay a deductible to get your replacement device which can run up to $200
Verizon cannot assist you at the store under insurance, only manufacturers warranty and they can give you the phone number and web site address to start your claim process.
In the future get your iPhone insurance through Apple Care, its only $99 for the two years and you just walk into the Apple Store near you and get service.
Good Luck -
I am researching what is needed to comply with the inclusion of Cost of Employer-sponsored Health Coverage on form W-2. Employer's are required to report the annual cost of Health Care Coverage received by their employees.
W-2s must contain the value of health care coverage for employees for tax year 2011 (issued in 2010).
Has anyone found or is finding they will need to do this? If so, how was it handled? We are in ECC 6.
Thanks,For your reference: update from BSI below:
"BSI TaxFactoryu2122 Notice:
State and Local ACA (Affordable Care Act) Dependent Health Care Support
Background
As a result of changes made by the recently enacted Federal Affordable Care Act (ACA), health coverage provided for an employee's adult child under 27 years of age is now generally tax-free to the employee for federal purposes, effective March 30, 2010. State and local taxing authorities that use the current version of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) will automatically follow the federal exclusion provisions for u2018adult childu2019 health insurance premiums. However, state and local taxing authorities that do not conform to the IRC as of the enactment date of the ACA (March 30, 2010) must amend their income tax code to adopt the ACA provisions. As a result, for these taxing authorities, any expanded coverage provided for adult children under the Affordable Care Act is taxable income to the employee receiving the benefit for state and local income and withholding tax purposes.
Implementation
To better accommodate the state and local taxation of ACA-expanded dependent health coverage, BSI TaxFactory will be enhanced with two new earning types to identify the portion of employee- and employer-paid dependent health insurance coverage for a federally-defined u2018adult childu2019 in such cases where the state and local taxation and reporting of said premiums differs from the Federal provisions:
u2022 E070 (Employee Adult Child Health Insurance) represents the value of the employee-paid portion of a health insurance premium that can be attributed to coverage of an adult child as defined by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
u2022 E071 (Employer Adult Child Health Insurance) represents the value of the employer-paid portion of a health insurance premium that can be attributed to coverage of an adult child as defined by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Customer Action
If your employee lives and / or works in a conforming taxing authority, BSI TaxFactory users will require no additional user action. BSI TaxFactory will automatically apply the tax exclusion to these taxing authorities for all applicable tax types.
If your employee lives and / or works in a non-conforming taxing authority, and you utilize the BSI TaxFactory wage assessing functionality within your tax calculation process, pass the value of the taxable portion of the heath insurance premium as follows:
u2022 Use Code E070 for the employee-paid portion of the adult child health insurance premium
u2022 Use Code E071 for the employer-paid portion of the adult child health insurance premium
Education
Due to the timing of the ACAu2019s passage, many of the non-conforming taxing authoritiesu2019 legislatures had already adjourned for the 2010 tax year. BSI expects that the legislatures of the non-conforming states and localities will act to adopt this exclusion in their 2011 sessions, but at this time we cannot predict with any certainty that such action will occur. BSI therefore recommends that employers take the necessary steps to include these amounts in each affected employee's state and local withholding tax calculation for wages earned on or after January 1, 2011, until such time as the applicable taxing authority passes ACA-conforming legislation. BSI will continue to monitor and issue regulatory changes as state and local taxing authorities address these ACA provisions." -
Hi Experts,
Can anyone give me a business process overview of Loans from SAP perspective? I am totally clueless about Loans and I want to know how its done from HR perspective as well as SAP perspective.
Like what are the stages for Loans in SAP. I want to know specifically about amortization, annuity, annuity pattern, debit interest rates etc. How is the interest rate made through configuration is arrived at, etc. II don't need the definition of these terms. I want to know them in the context of Loans from SAP perspective... I hope you know what I'm trying to say.
Thank you.

This infotype will take care of Loans which were Given to an Employee from the employeer and at the same time the employer can recollect the amount given to the Employeer in the form of installment and interest
IT0045
Consists of three tabls
Amount given by the employeer in the first tab Basic data
Note in this tab Loan amount paid , Loan Amount balance, End of load feilds will be updated obly after running actual pay roll
and we cannot see the feilds in the adhoc query
Next tab is conditions
you will select the loan is interst or without intrest free in this tab along with Repayment start date Repayment installment
and also u can see the icon ABACUS here
and third tab Payment
Here you will select the mode of Payment such as External or internal
External the Amount will be paid by FICO through Check so in that case it shd not include in Pay slip or pay roll at that thime you can opt this procedure
internal means standrad
there are some more payment methods in this tab please have a details look over it
and now the back end configuration
XLOZ is the PCR which has to be modefied check the below explanation
say u r haveing two loan types
1 Houseing Loan
2. Personal Loan
for IT0045 create two sub types 9001 for Houseing Loan 9002 for Personal Loan
u can chec the same in the Configuration
now
for Houseing Loan copy two wage types
9021 from /Lop Loan payment
9022 form /LRP loan Repayment
do same for Personal Loan
now go to XLOZ rule in PE02
Copy it as ZLON
under the node /LOP that is loan payment
make
add L9001 this is ur subtype for Houseing loan
under that ADDWTE9021 as this is ur wage type for Loan Payment
the same logic applicable for /LRP here u have to keep 9022
Still any doubt please let me know
