Business Rules embedded timeout parameter needs to be increased

Hi evryone,
I have two BR that appears in the Job Console like processing. I looked for the HSP_JOB_STATUS but these were not there. Every time a user launches this BR, the job console present a "processing" calculation message. I read in the forums that it is possible to increase the timeou parameter for BR, which is the process in order to do so? It is Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 in Windows server.

Business Rules Engines?

Hi,
I have experience with embedding "CLIPS" which is a C rules engine as a
Forte Service Object which was easily wrappered using standard Forte
wrapper strategy.
Also, we have a sales rep in ATL who used to work @ ILOG and therefore
competed with Nueron Data, and from various conversations with mutual Forte
/ Rules Engine customers I've learned it would be a complimentary integration.
They all have some C-callable API and so a Forte Service Object would be a
good client to the rules engine api due to our support for multi-threading
when API is thread safe and additional option of replicating for load-bal
when API isn't thread safe. The later concept is analogous to our use of
DBSession object for interface with DBMS client api's.
Be aware, the experiences I hear about with the mentioned rules engines is
that there are not always business analysts truly capable of using the
Rules development interfaces provided by the tools.
So maybe the use of Forte Conductor's dynamic Process automation
capabilities may also be a fit. If you want to discuss how, let me know.

Business rule assignment in Process Control 10.0, does not show any Control

I have created Organization, and assigned Mitigation control, as shown below. I have also created data Source and Business rule. But Business rule assignment is Blank for Controls. So, could you suggest, how can i see the Controls for the Business rule

You'll need to ensure the timeframes are aligned. What is the valid from date of your organisation and equally so important from your (sub)proces and your control. You are trying to do an assignment as per the first of january 2015. You'll not find entities that are created after Jan 1 2015.
Furthermore you can only select controls that are either earmarked to be tested automated or semi-automated.
Finally you're refering to mitigating controls. So that would imply you have integrated the AC mitigating controls with PC or vice versa. What is the creation date of the mitigating control and per which date has it been assigned to the local subprocess?
In order to provide a precise answer we'd need more details on the exact process you've follow. There are simply more than on possible root causes depending on what you've done.

Pass business rule prompt to email

Hi,
My requirement is to send email to different users depending on the selection of runtime prompts in a business rule. First i registered essbase cdf posted in one of the other threads to send emails. It is working fine from calc script.
However when I pasted the same thing inside a BR in Calc Manager the BR doesnt validate. So I am stuck up again.
I need a business rule as I also need to pass prompt selected by the user in the subject of the email.
The calc script I am using :

How about posting your business rule(if any different from above)? Maybe someone can spot an error.
Also: Sometimes these will run correctly even though they don't validate. Have you tried using the BR in its unvalidated state? Try that and see what happens.

Business Rule shortfall

I want to achieve following in business rule buildup:ACCOUNT1= Previous month balance of (ACCOUNT2).
In the 'previous month' column I have mentioned (-1).
For all months it is working fine except the first month Jan of the year, where it is failing to take the last year last month balance.
Has some one faced this...PleaSe share your thoughts,inputs...

I need to update thru business rules since the update need to be done on existing historical data by executing the package.
is there any other way to achive this calculation?

Business Rules or Form Refresh timeout - SmartView

Hi,
We have users using Smartview which get the following error: "The request timed out. Contact your admistrator ro increase netRetryCount and netRetryInterval." It appear that everytime a user execute a business rule or refresh a form, if the business rule or the form takes more than a minute to complete, the user will get the timeout error. If it is only few seconds to run, then the user will not get the timeout error.
We use Hyperion Planning 9.2.0. Is this something to do with the setting in HBRServer.properties? We have the following settings at this moment:
HBR.maxconn=20
HBR.timeout=30000
HBR.catalog=HYPSVR01
#embedded server timeout in minutes
#HBR.embedded_timeout=10
#HBR.css_refresh=30
HBR_APP_NAME=orclrddb01
PLUGIN_DATA_REFRESH_RATE=30000

Could anyone advise the meaning of the above entries or where can I get the information about the entries?
Do we need to use: HBR.embedded_timeout or HBR_DB_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT setting?

- Under 'Process the following objects', choose 'Checked out by anyone'
- Also check the check box '... also Checked In objects'
- Choose whether you want to automatically check out with or without lock
If this does not help, please run the utility with log level 'Debug Detailed' (can also be set in the User Preferences) and report the last few lines of the log messages. They should give an indication of why the check out does not succeed.

Q no 1:
Sourcing Cockpit is an area from where you can source the requirements..There are two ways by which sourcing can be done.
1. The Purchase requisiton created from ECC 6.0 can be pushed to SRM for Sourcing . Either direct material with Part no or
Service requirement without part number
2. The shopping cart created in SRM can be converted to sourcing.
once the requirments are flown from ECC 6.0 and SRM . in the SRM server in sourcing node--click Carry our sourcing.
you can get all the requirements.
From this you can convert it to Purchase order,contract,Auction. Bid invitation.
Q. no 2 :Business Rule Framework.(BRF)
This is related to Workflow .From SRM 7.0 this workflow is called Process controlled workflow. Only by simple rules the
Workflow for Approval process for P.O ,Contract,Bid invitation can be done.

Needs to consolidate twice after updating a business rule

Hi All,
I created a business rule to pull an nonconsolidated entity to an consolidated entity without realizing an existing rule is doing the same thing but using the parent instead. This cause the consolidation process to do it twice.I stopped the rule, added a new nonconsolidated entity and a new rule going to the same consolidated entity. This way the history data wouldn't be impacted. I would assumed that because I stopped the first rule that causing the data to impact twice I don't have the same problem but once I tested it, it is still doing the same thing. I am using HS.ImpactStatus on the BR. Please see below:
Old to stop the rule:

     'HS.ImpactStatus "E#Global_Chain_Corp"
New rule:
case "global_chain_corpnc"
     HS.ImpactStatus "E#Global_Chain_Corp
any ideas why still need to consolidated twice?

Hi Sandy,
HFM is calculating the entities based on the order in the hierarchy structure.
I assume that you have this issue because entity global_chain_corpnc is calculated after entity Global_Chain_Corp and as a result Global_Chain_Corp will end up as impacted.
Based on my understanding HFM will:
     On the first consolidation:
     1.1) Calculate Global_Chain_Corp
     1.2) Calcuate global_chain_corpnc which will result in Impacting Global_Chain_Corp
     On the second consolidation
     2.1) Calculate Global_Chain_Corp but not calcuate global_chain_corpnc because it is already calculated from the first consolidation

Does EAS needs to running for Business Rule Migration

We are having issues with EAS server in one of the env, so it is offline. The user wants to access BR from that env, so EAS server needs to be running for migrating those BR using LCM or LCM would connect with the Database repository for the migration.

I posted a script years ago that I put together which has been used a few times over.
You can see the thread at: Exporting Hyperion Business Rules as Text files
This would require the relational server is up and running. I have used it against many versions of the repository. You may want to look at the writeln code and make sure you have it set to do ascii vs unicode as I think I set it to UTF-8 in original scripts.

Error while integrating Business rules (decision service) in BPEL

from some time I am struggling to integrate Business Rules with BPEL, I was successfully able to integrate it also.
however now once again the same error has started coming.
If it try to deploy the BPEL process it will give built failed but the BPEL process will come in the BPEL console
and after passing the parameter it will give unable to find the decision service WSDL file.
please advice what is the issue some time it works perfectly some time it shows error while deploying.

Business Rules Error when Decision Function surfaced as WebService in BPM

To use a BusinessRule as from a Business Rules activity,it needs to be surfaced as a WebService.
I've run into an issue where as soon as I check that box and save, the BusinessRule in question goes into a error mode when viewed from the BPM Project Manager (which is why this question is posted here).
The scenario is this:
My types are defiend in XSD. There is a SimpleType - FooStepTypeType - which is a retricted xs:string, the common way top create an enumeration. I import this as an XML fact, it creates a Enum bucketset, which is perfect. I create a decision function - DecisionFunction1 - which has an input parameter of this type and a boolean output. I set up a simple decision table to use the input and assert the output. The editor is happy.
At this point, I can't use the DF in my process, as it's not exposed a service, and won't be selectable via the the Properties/Implementation of a Business Rules activity.
A soon as I mark the DF as a WebService and save it, an the rule disappears from the Rules section of the Business Catalog and reappears at the root of the catalog in error. In some cases it can't be edited.
Hovering over the error file produced this error message:
The argument ‘step’ of decision function ‘DecisionFunction1’ could not build because of ‘BPM-71517: Unable to identify the parameter QName. Cause: ‘FooStepTypeType. Action: Make sure that the decision function parameter is of XML type and exactly one XML Schema Element exists that represents the parameter’.
My XSD previously did not contain a freestanding element of this type, but had elements defined in another complex type of this type. Adding a freestanding element didn't change anything. In fact it seems that elements are not avaialble to be imported as XMLFacts, only types.
At this point, if the Rules editor is still open, the DF can be "unserviced" and after saving may be recoverable with a JDev restart. If not, manually removing the DF from the .rules xml file can help recover the file so that it can be edited again.
SO: THE QUESTIONS.
Why can't I use a simpleType as an input parameter for a DF exposed as a WebService? What is BPM-71517 asking me to do exactly? I can't find any references to it via searching. Why does eveything seem fine until I expose it?
Addendum - using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 with BPM tools 11.1.1.4.0.5682
Addendum2 - upgraded to 11.1.1.5.0 and the problem is still there.....

Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
This is a bit messy.
To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

If I updated the business rule by updating any parameter in the Dev environment, do I need to export this business rule into Prod environment or Can I directly change the code in the production environment.

CEV business rule only uses first set of parameters in multiple inserts

We have a cev rule that logs data for emails when a record is inserted in a table.
Where there are two records inserted from a script, even where a qms_transaction_mgt.open_transaction and close transaction are used around each insert, the CEV record parameters do not change.
By this I mean we have two records:
1 - id: 22
2 - id: 23
We pass the id to the CEV business rule and dbms_output the parameter value - it indicates that for both records the p_id = 22.
The insert into the table indicates that the record ids were 22 and 23.
This appears to have been reported several times but there is no solution.

I would set it lower than 20 minutes as that is quite high before it sends the rules into the background, if the spawning at 10 minutes try setting it just lower than 10 as a test.
It may also be worth looking into the apache timeout (if you are using the apache web server plugin) as that could also be playing a part.
