Button calls function

Question

Hello ,I have very simple problem as
     public class chart extend Applet
          draw d;
          plot p;
          �.
          p s v main(�)
          Frame f =new Frame();
          �.
          class draw extends Panel
          chart ch1;
          Button b1;
          �..
          �..
          b1.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
     public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent a)
               ch1.p.flag();     }     });
          class draw extends Canvas
          chart ch2;
          �.
          �.
          public void flag(){
                    �� }
// have to call this function through b1
          error come :local variable ch1 is accessed form within inner class ;needs to be declared final
