Buzzing in Presentation Recording

Hello everyone. I work for a conference company and we take video of our presentations. I have wanted to capture better quality audio but don't know what I am doing wrong. I have a Canon XA-10 and I am recording the audio straight from the mixer. I want to get that perfect audio. There is an annoying buzzing that I am getting mroe often than not when capturing the audio.

compete mac newbie here....I am getting a buzz when I record in garage band. I want to use the built in mic. my son has a macbook too but there is no buzz when recording with his...I don't know if there is a setting I need to adjust....any ideas...

Does the hum happen when plugged into mains power?
I had a hum that was eliminated when I used the MagSafe Power adaptor supplied with my macbook instead of bypassing it and using the shorter lead when plugged into mains.

What is the cause of electronic buzz during voice recording playback?

I have purchased a Sure 8900 microphone and have recorderd a couple of short files using recorder.xhead. It records fine, but upon playback, along with my voice is a very defined electronic humm in the background. I have recorded without my external speakers on - same problem upon playback. There are no dimmer switches in the area - something I've heard can cause such an electronic clip. The mic cord is very long. I have recorded some distance from the computer- same problem. Note: When I turn my speakers up loud, I hear the same noise. When I shut the computer off, this noise goes away, although the speakers are still powered. Please note: The sound seems to mimic and amplify what I believe is the low humm of the hard drive. Could there be a bad ground in the computer allowing this to bleed through to both the mic and the speaker jacks? Any ideas on cause an/or solution?

Thank you all for the input regarding grounding. This was the problem, but not from a power outlet. The Sure 8900 microphone is has a 3-prong "balanced" connector at the microphone, but then is adapted to 1/8 inch connector so that it will fit the "mic" input jack on the iMac. The result - a conversion of a balanced to unbalanced signal. After describing this to a technician a a local electronics store, he immediately said "You can't go from a balanced to an unbalanced input and not have grounding noise. The reason: one channel shares the ground - allowing the AC clipping to occur.
Solution: The 8900 mic comes with a 1/4 inch adapter making the mic "balanced" if connected. Put the 1/4 inch input over the 1/8 inch input, PLUG THIS INTO A USB mixer and into the USB port- problem solved - no more buzzing AND BETTER RECORDING QUALITY!!!

Buzz voice when recording a video on nokia n73

when i record a video using my n73 in a quiet enviroment , a loud buzz voice will be in the vidieo , does any one have the same problem ?

Presenter records static noise

Hi everyone,
My Presenter is recording a lot of noise. I've tried selecting mic and line in, and both record the same static noise. I've tried my external E-MU and the on-board sound. I've tried selecting a few different input devices in the windows sound control panel too. Any ideas?

I have a few different options. I have an external E-MU 0404USB, a webcam and the on-board SoundMax audio. The Presenter options are horrible, only giving the choice between two: line in and mic, and it doesn't mention what device it is or the level. Shocking really. So, as far as I can tell, the line in is always going to be the line in on the SoundMax audio. The mic however, I could change between the external E-MU, the webcam and the on-board mic input. Niether the line-in setting or the mic setting in Presenter will record anything though. It's just loud noise no matter what device it's set to, or what device is configured as the default mic in Windows.

AJVOAF: Present record is getting is vanished when going for next record

Dear Friends,
In a table region i have 3 LOVs -- Material ,Subinventory and Locator ( I have made Subinventory and Locator LOVs as read only....as per Requirement)
when material lov is clicked it displays material,subventory and locator. (After Material VO extension)
I have succeeded in bringing this subinventory to READ ONLY Subinventory field by default , when material lov is clicked (this is the requirement)
For first time when i click material lov ,iam getting subinventory name in " READ ONLY Subinventory field " by default. ok fine . But for the second time when iam doing the same (clicking Material lov), as usual,iam getting subinventory name in READ ONLY Subinventory field by default ....... BUT the above first record of subinventory is getting vanished .
For the third time when iam doing the same (clicking Material lov), the second record of subinventory is getting vanished. For the fourth time when iam doing the same (clicking Material lov),the third record of subinventory is getting vanished.So now iam able to see only the fourth record only no first,second,third they r getting vanished. How to resolve it.
And when clicking ADD ROWS button in table region it showing error like " ROW 1 MATERIAL - SELECT A VALID VALUE"

Let me give my REQ in detail.
Mine is a stadard page (maintainence user RESP -----stores----one step material issue PAGE) . have 3 LOVs .MATERIAL,SUBINVENTORY ,LOCATOR.
SUBINVENTORY ,LOCATOR. -----------these two i have made read only.
MATERIAL lov itself displays SUBINVENTORY ,LOCATOR also.
So which ever material (say M1) is user is selecting, the corrosponding SUBINVENTORY ( M1-Sub) ,LOCATOR (M1-Loc) should by default come in SUBINVENTORY ,LOCATOR fields which i have made read only.
Similarly when user is selecteing M2 then, corrosponding SUBINVENTORY ( M2-Sub) ,LOCATOR (M2-Loc) should by default come in SUBINVENTORY ,LOCATOR. which i have made read only.
Here iam getting M1 , M1-Sub , M1-Loc properly
But when iam clicking M2 , iam getting M2 , M2-Sub , M2-Loc .BUT at the same time iam loosing M1-Sub , M1-Loc (these 2 fileds are disappering)
for M3 iam loosing M2-Sub , M2-Loc.
for M4 iam loosing M3-Sub , M3-Loc.

Presenter 8 video record fails to work with firewire camcorder

Tried to record with camcorder connected via firewire. Presenter video creator crashed. Poor results for a highly anticipated "upgrade". Problem with installed "Adobe-Pr-VC.exe" app. Wish that Adobe would test their products instead of having us doing their Quality Control. But, I guess this is what they would describe as being a "feature". Glad I'm finding all these problems during the "trial" period.

The lack of support for FireWire connections is making the product less usefull than I tought it would. We also record conferences and corporate training presentations, and recording the speaker with just a low quality webcam is not always the best option (limited options of framing, zooming, panning, tilting, following the speaker ... they are not always standing on the same spot ).
Being in the "trial" period still, I digitized and copied a pre-recorded videofile of a recent presentation on my PC and tried to synchronize it with the PowerPoint presentation, but then I found out that I need to split up my complete recording in as many individual pieces of video as the amount of slides the speaker presents. Presenter only allows to import and synchronize one videofile with one particular slide. This type of post-processing is time-consuming and inefficient.
I also can't ask the trainer to do his/her presentation in a classroom first before an audience, and then repeat the whole presentation again afterwards in front of his/her webcam to record it to make it available for people who couldn't attend the session.
That is why the connection of an external camera or recorder is a necessity. There is nothing as easy and efficient as having a camera at the back of the class or conference room, and synchronize the camera image with the PowerPoint slides in real-time, while the speaker is presenting the slides before an audience. We simply don't have the time to go through a time consuming post-processing cycle by cutting the recorded presentation into several individual videofiles and importing them into the individual slides, or asking the speaker to repeat the presentation for the 2nd time in front of a webcam. Time is Money.
I also found out that only presentations recorded in real-time with a webcam (via the RECORD button on the toolbar) gives me the possibility to upload the presentation to YouTube. When using the possibility to import a videofile to a slide via the Presenter toolbar (Video --> import), it only gives me the possibility to publish to My Computer (or network), to Adobe Connect or to a PDF-file. No YouTube publishing possibility here anymore.
Why not, Adobe ?
Company policy to only connect to the proprietary Adobe Connect platform?
That is a real pitty.
I really don't understand Adobe's policy to not support FireWire appliances in Presenter 8. This would open so many possibilities for the product.
FireWire support is nothing new for Adobe. I'm an Adobe Premiere user for more than a decade, I use Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder to stream training sessions, conferences, etc ... and all these products support FireWire without any problem.
Don't tell me that the Adobe team needs to start studying for months how to connect a FireWire camera or recorder to its Presenter 8 software.
I hope they will investigate how they can solve this flaw as quickly as possible.
In the meanwhile, I guess, I will let the trial period pass and might consider purchasing the product once this issue has been solved.

Logic: When recording audio, a loud electronic buzz happens

I am using Logic 9 on an iMac.
I use Logic to transfer records and create MP3s.
The record player is connected to my stereo receiver, the receiver to the input of an MAudio FW 410, the MAudio FW 410 to my external hard drive, and my hard drive to my computer (I connected the FW 410 to the hard drive because the FW410 does not have firewire 800, so I connect the FW410 to the hard drive then use the hard drive's FW 800 to connect to the computer)
This setup has always worked fine until recently.
When I transfer my records, Logic stops recording after a few minutes in, and a loud buzz is generated, and I can see the wave form of the buzz where I should be seeing the input of the audio from the record.
I then disconnected the record player to see what would happen and to eliminate the possibility that the record player was the cause of the problem. With the record player disconnected, I still got the buzz simply by arming the record button on the Logic track.
Then I tried transferring the record into GarageBand. The same buzz happened simply by arming the record button in GarageBand.
There seems to be something going on with my computer in regards to inputting sound. I'm not sure if it's a setting in Logic/GarageBand, or if there is some larger computer issues causing the buzz.
Any ideas?

How do I turn off rewire?    When I click in the box, there is no option for "off"   The only options are Playback mode, and Live mode.

Audio Problems in Adobe Presenter: Help Needed Urgently!!

I am using trial versions of Adobe Presenter 7 and Adobe Connect 8.
I created a presentation in in Powerpoint 2002 and published through Adobe Presenter to Adobe Connect Pro. This presentation has voice over recorded through the Adobe Presenter "record audio" option.
In Adobe Connect Pro, I created a meeting and shared the above mentioned presentation through the "Share Document" option in Connect Pro.
Now, when I play the presentation in this Adobe Connect Meeting, I am not getting any audio that was recorded in Adobe Presenter. Whereas if I play the published presentation directly it plays the recorded audio.
Can anyone help me on this?
1. Are there any settings to be done in Powerpoint or Adobe Presenter or Connect pro?
2. Is it the problem of Trial Account or something like that?
Please let me know the solution. Need to work on this ASAP!!!

This is a weird one. If you created a prezo with audio and published it to AC (Adobe Connect) and everything worked fine on your desktop then it should work fine in AC i.e. there are no other settings required on AC's side, it should just play.
As I am typing this I thought of similar audio problems that we have experienced in the past. A big one would be where another user created a PPT on their laptops and handed it to us. When testing the audio did not work. Reason being is that not all the files were coppied over BUT I must accept that this is not your problem as it definately worked on your PC before you published it to AC.
Wait there is one setting in the publish settings. In the output options tick "Upload source presentation with assests", then tick audio.
I cannot think of anything else. There is a man called Heyward Drummond on the Adobe Connect General forum, who is a real master at answering queries like this. Why not post your query there and see if he comes up with an answer?

When-validate-record trigger only if a non database item is changed

I am trying a code in the when-vaidate-record trigger in the BLOCK level.
The trigger should fire only if a checkbox item value is ticked(Value ='Y) for the present record(i.e, if already existing other records have a value ticked (='Y), it doesnt matter and trigger shouldnt fire)
Please help me achieve this :
The code I have tried in when-vaidate-trigger, which does not work as what I want :

If your are creating that temp. item, it should be in the same block as non-db item.
I will explain this... You are setting the status of to_be_defaulted check box of some queried record to Y based on some conditions, right?
These records anyways are not updateable. Now your requirement is to find out the newly checked check boxes.
So in the post query or the place where you set to_be_defaulted as 'Y, we will default the new item with value Y, so that in the when validate trigger, you
know which record needs to attacked, It is those records with nvl( new item ,'N') = 'N' and to_be_defaulted = 'Y'...

Keynote does not run on Windows computers, therefore, convert the Keynote file to PowerPoint:

Allowing only insertion of records in TableControl, no modification allowed

I am a fresher , and i have written code to retrieve data from a databade into a table control.
i want to only add records to the table control,
once the record saved in database and table control updated the particular record
is disabled..(no modification allowed in any present records of the table control)
i succeeded in
a. retrieving data
b. adding record and updating the database and table control
BUT AM NOT ABLE TO render the record added non-editable....
I need help and please i also need EXPLANATIONS so as to understand the steps..

and then you need to make a module in loop for table control in PBO
ex. process before output.

loop at screen.
if screen-name = 'I_SPFLI-CARRID'. (you can add as many column names as you need)

Presenter Publication Won't Play

I have published my Adobe Presenter recording. Everything seems fine, but it hangs on loading and never plays. All I see is the Presenter logo with the loading spinner.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting this? I have published dozens before without this problem.

I used the PPTX file provided by Nealdog2 in one of his earlier posts:
"Here is a public link to the PPT file." Just tell presenter to drop any association to the Presenter files and attempt to publish the presentation without any audio files. Presenter just gives me a "cannot publish" message. If I do a save as PPT03, and then publish it works fine.
The method of saving as PPT instead of PPTX has been a fall back solution of the community since PPT07 came out. 90% people are not even using PPT07 specific functionality, so you don't lose anything, but Presenter has always had a more consistant output with the older file format. I never figured out what was causing the error, just that it went away when saved as the older format.

Assertion Error in Presenter

In editing the audio/narration in my presentation, I've been plagued with a message that says "assertion error" and which gives me options to abort, retry or ignore. The audio editing cannot progress past that point. If i click the pause button, the power point freezes and then has to close, losing any unsaved edits. This is really frustrating. Does anyone know why this happens, what to do when it happens or how to avoid or eliminate it from happening?

Please clarify few points, that will help us understand issue more clearly:-
1) Record audio from Adobe Presenter>Record and then edit it from Adobe Presenter>Edit, then only Assertion appear ? Or even if you import audio from Adobe Presenter>import and then edit it from Adobe Presenter>Edit. In summary editing any recorded or imported audio causing assertion?
2) At what point of editing you are getting Assertion. Like at time of deleteing , copy,paste,add new audio, insert silence?

How to create new record with old values

Dear all
i have creation page with 45 fields are there
user will enter all the fields and save it will call to non editable mode
if user will click on change button it will call to editable mode
in that my requirement is user wont change among those ites(45 items)clcik on save again it will call to view mode
in that user will change any one of the value among 45 items and click on save button i need to create one more record in database
if user wont edit any one of the field out of 45 items i dont want to create new record in database
how can we achieve thsi functionality

When user may edit the record, the same row may get updated in vo. Thus over writing existing row instead of creating new row.
Approach1..
On the page where user may edit records, instead of presenting records of existing row, present copy of existing row. So
In AM... (Later on you can put vo logic to its proper place, i.e. vo java file)

in case user selects "Cancel" on edit form,we need to remove the duplicate row. So in AM write a method to remove the duplicate rowd on click of "Cancel" button on edit form.
Rest of the logic is same for "Save" button. Just say commit.
