BW Exceptions in Crystal Report
Hi ,
We are developing Crystal Report based on Bex Query using crosstab. We are facing formatting issues.
We have Bex query with one structure in rows comprising of key figures like orders received, revenues.
We have one more structure in columns comprising time characteristics like month, quarter, YTD. As we know that in case of multiple structure formats we can access only name of the column structure in the design pane. However we have a requirement to format certain columns for various exceptions (BW Exceptions).
But as we are not able to access individual columns, we are not sure how to format particular columns. Can you please help us on this. Any input / help/ reference is appreciated !
Regards,
Samir
Thanks Abhilash for your inputs. But as I mentioned I am using BEx Query with multiple structures.
Due to that, though I see multiple columns on preview tab in CR, I see only one column ( its column structure from BEx Query ) in design tab. Out of the multiple columns I want to apply exceptions or conditional formatting only for couple of selected columns only. Whereas its applying to entire row.
Can you please let us know how to identify exact column in such scenario or any other solution?
Thanks !
Regards,
Samir

RAS Java API Exception on Crystal Reports Server XI R2
Hi
We download run the evaluation version of Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP2.
Our web application uses RAS Java API to talk to Crystal Reports Server to open unmanaged reports.
ReportClientDocument lo_ReportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument(); //*** Cause exception
ReportAppSession reportAppSession = new ReportAppSession();
reportAppSession.createService(
"com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument"); //*** Cause exception
reportAppSession.setReportAppServer(servername);
reportAppSession.initialize(); //*** Cause exception
lo_ReportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(reportAppSession.getReportAppServer());
lo_ReportClientDoc.open(asReportName,OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
ReportServerControl control = new ReportServerControl();
control.setReportSource(lo_ReportClientDoc.getReportSource());
The lines marked with "//*** Cause exception" above cause the following exceptions, although at the end the reports came up correctly. When we were running Crystal Reports Server XI (Release 1), we did not see this exception. Can you tell what is going wrong? Thanks.

Exception with Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP2 and Export to Word/RTF
When I export a report (DataSource ADO.NET DataSet) with many records (in my case about 17000 but the records are stretched from about 370 pages to about 800 pages ), I get an exception:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Ungültiger Zeiger (German, English: Invalid pointer?)
When I dont't stretch the records (that means record by record without pagebreak) it works fine.
Any ideas?
I think the problem is the expected file size. When I export from the development enviroment the doc-file is 566 MB. Open this wiht MS-Word I get the Message: Word cannot open files > 512 MB.
Somehow the problem seams to depend on this fact.
Anyway, MS-Word cannot work with files > 512 MB. So I don't need to think about the problem further.
Edited by: Sven G. on Mar 24, 2010 11:14 AMThat is an interesting finding.
One thing you may want to try is FP 2.5. Perhaps the exported file will be smaller and thus let you export more pages(?). Other than that, keeping the file size down via selection formulas or smaller datasets will be the way to go.
FP2.5 is here:

ArnoldAccording to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using. -

Crystal Reports - Unhandled exception
Good day all
When running a report in Crystal reports addon I get the following error:
"Unhannled Exception hes occured in you aplication. If you click continue.............."
I am running crystal reports 2.0.0.7 on a 64bit server. Can this error be related to the Crystal runtime?
Does the .rpt files need to be recompliled for 64bit?
Regards
Erika BoshoffI think the version you are using was developed to run on 64 bit, so this shouldn't be the issue.
The error messages in Crystal are not very clear, check the reporting & printing forum for much more info on Crysal issues. -
Crystal report (crystalReportsViewer) crash with null pointer exception
Hi,
My application are simple : m_crystalReportsViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = report; but in throw exception null pointer when I call showDialog.
I see in code, we have method ShowTabHeader.
private void ShowTabHeader(bool isShow)
Grid child = VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(this.tabViews, 0) as Grid;
TabPanel panel = child.FindName("HeaderPanel") as TabPanel;
if (!isShow)
panel.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;
else
panel.Visibility = Visibility.Visible;
My problem : child.FindName("HeaderPanel") as TabPanel return null
=> if (!isShow)
panel.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;
else
panel.Visibility = Visibility.Visible;
throws null pointer exception.
Do you have any idea about this?
Thanks.

Edited by: duyhai707 on Jul 13, 2011 8:09 PMA lot I don't understand in here... actually, I don't understand anything in your post:
When you call ShowDialog, what exactly are you trying to show? The code is the decompiled showtabheader method of the viewer. So, are you trying to override the viewer control and reportalbum? My guess is that the null reference is for the reportalbum's child object which is not the reportalbum object of the viewer. I don't understand why the code since its all handled internally to the viewer anyhow.
Perhaps searching the forum for code sample will help?

Exception when there is "~" in the Crystal report applicaiton name
Hi all,
I am new in using the Crystal report and i faced the follwing problem:
1. I am using Crystal report for eclipse version 1.0.8.v1541.
2. The application name with which the Crystal reports are deployed on the engine contains "~" in the name.
3. In the jsp I use the following code to request the report:
ReportClientDocument reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
reportClientDocument.open("CrystalReport_IssuesPerCategories.rpt", OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
4. I get the following exception :
com.businessobjects.reports.sdk.d: Report file /D:/usr/sap/LKG/J00/j2ee/cluster/apps/sap.com/test%7Efeedback_crystal_report_app_v2/servlet_jsp/sap.com%7Etest%7Efeedback_crystal_report_v2/root/CrystalReport_IssuesPerCategories.rpt not found

at com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument.open(Unknown Source)
(When I try to run the jsp from an application with a name without "~" in it everything works ok.)
Is this a bug? Is there some work around? Or maybe it is a fixed in some newer version?
(I am using NWDI + CBS as a build sustem and the ~ in the name is added automaticaly , so i cant skip it)
Thanks in advance!

Crystal Report query on top of BI Query : Exception raised in infoview
Hi experts,
I have created a crystal report query on ntop of a BI query and exported to BO.
- For the BI query without variable, the crystal report runs with success in infoview and Crystal report
-For the same BI query with a variable, the crystal report does not run. A java exception is raised
Please could somebody tell me what is the pb ?
ThaHi there,
Actually i am investigating the best way to produce Cristal Clear Reports using data from BI, so Cubes, DOS, etc. As far as i know BO use BEx queries, then CR can produce Reports, but i thought it works for all cases, i mean calculation, filtering and variables.
That's quite disapointing because i already told my client i will use his old BEx Queries to produce Reports with CR (frozen Reports), so use CR as Workbook to present them in fancy way.
Any comments will be welcome.

Sap Crystal Report Max Print Exception
In Sap Crystal Report after 60 to 70 reports print report doesn't show. When I set registry value of PrintJobLimit from c# code then exception fire "User can't authorize or permit for edit".
Hi Adnan,
You have mentioned two issues here.
1. In Sap Crystal Report after 60 to 70 reports print report doesn't show
2. When I set registry value of PrintJobLimit from c# code then exception fire "User can't authorize or permit for edit".
The second is issue is likely your attempt to resolve the first.
As Don has mentioned the first issue is a resourcing issue.
Make sure you close, dispose report object to free the memory.
Try setting the printjoblimit registry key manually to some definite no... 200, 300 etc. see if it works,
Also when you say the report doesnt work, is there an error / exception thrown by the app?
Does this happen to a specific printer?

Crystal Reports 2011 getting An unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32
I am using Crystal reports 2011 with windows XP. I am getting the error message "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe" I have seen the resolution for this at ""Unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe [2920]."" but this does not work either. I have added every possible .exe to not use DEP, that I could find in the Business Objects folder. The Business Objects folder is the correct folder. There is not any other folder in "Program Files" that is related to Crystal Reports. Can anyone help with this. I have come to the conclusion that the only solution is to switch to DevExpress Reports. Don't want to have to but, I have customers who are expecting working reports. I am using a MySQL database with version 5.1 ODBC driver. Another developer has Vista operating system running the same version of Crystal Reports, same database and ODBC driver and it works fine for him. Please don't say upgrade to Vista because the majority of my customer base is using XP. I would appreciate if someone could share some incite here. Thank you in advance.
Hello,
First thing is to download 5.3 DataDirect Drivers.
DEP is not a problem as of CR XI R2 SP6 and CR 2008 SP 2.
When are you getting the error when opening Crystal or at some other click?
Check your Anti-virus software, it will block access to dependencies CR requires or access to the Registry.
Look in your AV logs to see if it's logging that it's blocking access to something.
Also, CR 2011 requires Windows XP SP3.
And if you have not downloaded SP1 or SP 2 try uninstalling CR and then without running CR between installs complete them first and then try again.
AND you must be a local PC Administrator to install.

Moved some Crystal Reports from 8.5 to 10. They all work except one.
Moved some Crystal Reports from 8.5 to 10. They all work except one.
The report runs, then stops.
It brings up the Formula Workshop - Format Formula Editor - Suppress (No Drill-Down)
Highlights one of the Formula Fields, which is in used as part of record selection, then stopsGo to [http://service.sap.com]
In that go to SAP Support Portal ->Help & support tab ->Report a Product Error
You would have to supply Customer number and User ID and it would allow you to create a case (incident).
You can also call on our CIC numbers if you face any issues and they would be able assist you in creating an Incident.
