BW query as datasource

Hi all,
When i am using BW query as a datasource and connecting to universe ,
the settings are
1)BW query must be released to OLE DB for OLAP
2)You allow external access to Bw query.
I know how to do the 2 nd setting but how do the 1st setting.
1)BW query must be released to OLE DB for OLAP.
Please help me out.

One Query, Two Datasources

Is there a way to run a query on two separate datasources? I
would like to compare the data in two separate MS Access databases.

You won't be able to combine two datasources in one cfquery,
so one way might be for you to query each datasource, then compare
the two results using a Q-of-Q.

Query for Datasource problem

I have made an database based xfl function as:
declare function tns:add_months($da as xs:dateTime,$val as xs:int) as xs:dateTime? external;
and when i am calling this function in an Data sService is is giving me this error:
The function is defined for the following datasources: [null]

i am using a Database based xfl function for incorporating add_months function of sql:
declare function tns:add_months($date as xs:dateTime,$value as xs:int) as xs:dateTime? external;
This was working fine when i called it in another funcition where clause(see attacment for it's query plan-CorrectQueryPlan.xml)
But after changing the JNDI name when i am using it in the same function where clause i am getting this error:
Unable to generate SQL for XQuery expression: Cannot generate SQL for the user-defined function {lib:ShipmentsDataServices/XqueryLibrary/Test}add_months for datasource pg.dtmg101DS. The function is defined for the following datasources: [null]
see attacment for it's query plan-Error.xml)
I have also trie to create a new Database based xfl and trie to use it in a where clause of some other data Service then also it is showing me the same above error.
please help me solving this.

Infoset Query in Datasource.

I'm using a Infoset query based on an ABAM program as a datasource. For passing parameters, form Infopack to the program I defined the parameters in the Infoset (SQ02 -> Extras -> Selections -> parameters). After doing this, when I include this Infoset in my new Datasource and save it, I'm not getting the paramter defined in the Infoset. All other fields in Infoset look fine. The parameter defined should appear in Datasource as PARAM_P_<param name>, which can be used as selection parameter in the Infopack. Can anyone tell what I'm missing out and where?

Try testing your datasouce in your source system with tcode RSA3? Can you get data back from that?
Have you defined that field as a selection field in RSO2?

Query 3 Datasources at once

I need to have the user of my application type in a search string into a field and then show the results of three different queries on the web page.
Currently I'm trying to use DataTags to do this. Ideally I'd like to associate three Datasource datatags to one DataQuery Datatag. This looks like I would have to modify the tag library to accomplish this.
Is there an easier way to do this? Or, can somebody please point me the in the correct direction to make modifications to the Data Tag tag library.

Try using a single view object + one data source. You can create view objects that join a number of entity objects. You can also parameterize the view object with query parameters.

Executing Crystal Report using BI Query as datasource in Bobj portal

I have a Crystal report using BI query as the datasource. The BI query contains User Entry variables.
The Crystal report executes as expected except when added to the Bobj portal. From the portal, I can schedule the report and it will execute as correctly. However, if I try to execute without scheduling, I am able to enter the BI restrictions, but then am presented the following error message: "An error has occurred: For input string: "" ".
If I remove all the BI variables from the query, the report will execute from the portal with out scheduling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can set your parameters from CMC. Select the report and set parameters in to the report properties.

Load Master Data InfoObject using Query as Datasource

I there a way to use a BW Query as a Datasource to load a Master Data InfoObject. I have a query that calculates DSO for a customer and would like to update a custom DSO attribute in 0Customer

As Bhanu mentions, Analysis Process Designer would be an option. I did not use it before 3.5, but I know it did not have all the capabilities it has with 3.5.
I don't think there is any need for transactional ODSs in the process however. You can specify your query as the DataSource, specify any filtering / transformations needed, and then specify the InfoObject that is the data target. I haven't used a query to create Master Data with it but I do use it to take Master Data as input, manipulate it, and then update that Master Data.
The APD is covered in BW380 along with Data Mining - which is a good class if anyone is interested.
Is it easy enough for someone to pickup without training on it? I don't know - I think it would be for someone that has experience with the BW Admin Wkbench and has time to experiment. I think the related Data Mining features would require training.
APD has a lot of powerful capabilities that could be used to solve a variety of challenges not readily solved with the Admin Wkbench tools. I'm not sure why SAP hasn't done more to promote it.

How to use a Crystal Reports Query as datasourc in an other Cristal Report

I would like to read a File in a CR Report, change some data and use the output as datasource in an other Criystal Reports Report.
Is ist possible to use a Crystal Reports Report as datasource for an other Crystal Reports Report?

Are you having Xcelsius also in your kitty??(for dynamically doing this activity)
Xcelsius has very good writing & reading functionality and you can incorporate your crystal report data into it using live office.
Let say you have a report in crystal , you connect that repot to live office .Let say this is REPORT named as SOURCE CR REPORT.
IN Xcelsius import the this SOURCE CR REPORT report using live office connection and using GRID selector there to show tabular data.
Xcelsius has buttons & controls for updating and exporting the data inform of XML SOURCE FILE.
Now you can either make xcelsius Dashboard for TARGET CR REPORT or you can make crystal Report on ADO.NET(XML) for second crystal Report.
Search on SDN for cross usage of Crystal & Xcelsius

Extract error for an Infoset Query based Datasource

Hello All,
When I test a Info set Query Extraction in RSA3, I am facing the error message:
The field 'ZBW_EXTRACT' is unknown, but there are following fields with similar name '%COUNT-ZBW_EXTRACT'.
Syntax Error in Program 'AQZZSYSTBWGENER.....'
The Program is an Internal system generated program.
Has anyone faced the issue and know the way out..?

Hi Ameya,
which system are you testing this? I mean are you testing this in dev or qa? If you are testing in QA, make sure you import the infoset correctly. It is a different procedure. Hope it helps.

Dear all,
I'm struggling to identify if i can use crystal reports standard to query ODBC data-sources, the only information i can find is the following :-
An intuitive solution that provides basic report design functionality off of PC-based data sources, Crystal Reports XI Standard Edition will provide you with access to data stored in personal data sources.
This gives the impression that i cant access any data other than local data, can anyone give me a definitive answer or point me to somewhere that explains in a little more detail. We are about to purchase some copies but need to ensure crystal reports standard can access ODBC data sources. We are replacing crystal reports 8 standard edition and need to ensure previous reports will still run.

Well, you can certainly connect to ODBC with Crystal XI Developer. I'd be very surprised if you couldn't with the Standard version as well. Not the definitive answer you were looking for, I suppose.

APD - Query as Datasource

Hello,
We have an APD, that uses Query as a Data source. The query is built on Inventory Inforpovider and contains the Non-cumulative KYFs.
We have used partitioning due to large result set returned by the query.
This APD seems to be executing for very long time (over 15 hours)- we haven't seen a successful end to this run.
However, when tried to execute to one or two plants, the execution time is quite less(less than 10 mins).
Any suggestions to reduce the runtimes. we are currently on SAP 7.4 BW on HANA.

The cube is an In-memory cube. The cube is not compressed - since we are in QA and have started with our initial loads.
By Partitioning I meant, using extended settings in APD.

Cubes have been loaded fine. our issue lies with the APD runtime. Its taking more than 24 hours.to complete for a single month.
Our further analysis referred to the process getting stuck at CL_RRMS_APPL_LOG==============CP in SM50. we could see all the records loaded in Direct-Update DSO in less than an hour but the process gets stuck at this process and takes more than 24 hours to complete.

BW Query as datasource for the context of a WD

Hi all,
I would like to implement the following scenario:
Inside a WD I configure a set of parametrs for a query in BW. Then I want to call the web application with that query, deliver the parameters to the query and the BIApplikationFrame should then insert the result (which consists of a structure) into the context of the calling view.
Did anyone implemnt this scenario already.
Does anyone have comments, HowTos or other experiences related to that scenario and could this please share with me?

Querying a datasource using this format - {call displayLocation()}?

I've inherited a CF app and surprisingly I've never encountered calling a function or stored prodcedure like this before. I'm having trouble locating the datasource, I'm guessing it may be an Access db?

BW query as datasource for segmentation

At help.sap.com the following is posted:

Does anyone of you know what partially means in this case? When is it supported and when not??

I think partly means the SAP BW is linked to the CRM Server partly by the Middleware Broker and partly by direct RFC calls and BAPIs.
The BW Adapter extracts data in to SAP BW.
