BW System copy from PRD to DEV - Reduce database size

Hi All
We are in the process of copying our existing Production BW system (3.5) to become a new Development & test system. We want to reduce the database size significantly from 1.4 Tb to about 150 - 200 Gb. We have deleted all cube and ODS data as well as much of the master data but still have much tablespace tied up in monitor entries (eg table RSMONMESS) and IDOCs. All of the notes I read say that we cannot delete from RSMONMESS in a "Prodcution" environment, however we are creating a new DEV system and really need to get rid of monitor entries anyway. So there are two questions:
1. Any idea how we can clear up table RSMONMESS or delete unwanted monitor entries ?
2. How can we delete IDOCs copied from our production system without archiving them ? (They are of no use in our new test system.)

Tables RSMON* (for example, table RSMONMESS) and tables RS*DONE (for
example, table RSSELDONE) continuously increase in size in the BW system
with each request that is created.
Currently there is no option to reduce these tables.
Do not delete any entries from these tables. If you did, this would have
the following consequences:
When you carry out the next check for the requests for which you have
deleted records from these tables, the check will not run properly.
The status of the relevant requests turns RED in the monitor, and also in
all affected data targets that contain the request.
The affected request and all subsequent requests are no longer visible in
the reporting - all queries on the affected data targets then only display
old data.
Numerous dumps will occur in various situations.
You will not be able to repair the errors caused by the deletion.

Cause and Prerequisites
This is caused by a program error.
Solution
In the next BW release (BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s - that is BW 7.0), you
will be able to archive entries from the RSMON* and RS*DONE tables using a
request archiving process that archives the administrative information for
requests.
After archiving, these tables are then considerably reduced in size.
Until then, there is unfortunately no option for reducing the tables.

Hi,
All pre-requisite is there in system copy guide.Apart from that take user master backup of quality system and after system copy, import the user master data back so that you have same users in quality system.
Also, take RFC's backup also.

Add QAS in to system lanscape by system copy from PRD

Dear Expert ,
I had the follow case would like to have your comment on is that possible and any thing post step need to do.
In before we only have 2 PI system . One is DEV ( XID) , the other one is PRD ( XIP ) .Now we would like to have 1 more QAS (XIQ) on our system lanscape.
I would like to know is that possible for us to system copy XIP and change to SID from XIP to XIQ , so that we will have a QAS system for testing.Please help to advise is this method possible or not and will there any risk we need to take care.
( If possible I would like to know the post step and other information may usefull too )

Am not a basis guy, But, out of experience, i can say that,
it can be easily done with the help of basis guys,
1) Make system copy of XIP & rename it to XIQ.
2)Change all the connections to QAS server of ECC. Like proxy, RFC Destinations, SLD, etc.
3)Update the file locations of XIQ to QA file locations in FILE ,FTP,SFTP CC's.
4)Also, Need to verify all other CC's , if they are pointing to PROD, those needs to be changed to QAS.

Logical system on QAS after remote client copy from PRD to QAS

I wander after remote client copy from PRD to QAS do I have to change Logical system on QAS. Do I have to run some postprocessing program?

Hi Branko,
After the system copy, go to transaction SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Define Logical System , click New Entries and create a new logical system for your QAS; then go to SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Assign Client to Logical System, click on the client, click change and assign the new Logical system.
Other activities, check Jobs, RFC's, etc...

DEAR GURUS,
I want to do client copy from production to development of BI server. I want to carry out the infocubes, queries, etcc. from prd to dev.
for the above activity which profile i want to select for client copy.
After client copy shall i get all the infocubes,queries of prd server.
Because for system copy i don't have that much space in dev server.

Download and upload variants from PRD to DEV

Hi,
Unfortunately, most of the variants are being created directly in production system, but not in development. We would like to stop this process further more.
In future, we would like to follow the process from DEV & transport to QAS and PRD.
To match the variants of PRD and DEV, I would like to download the variants from PRD to DEV.
How can I download the variants from one system and upload to the other system.

1. You can include the variants into a transport request in se38.
SE38--> Variants --> Utilities --> Transport request
2. When you create your program use can use TVARV table for variants, and parameters. You can maintain it with STVARV transaction also. So if you create your program using TVARV in your program, then you can include the changes of the variables into a transport request (there is an option to do it in transaction STVARV).
If you use tvarv table, then you have to take care of when you saving a variant:

I think there is no other standard way to transport the variants from one system to another.

When creating system copy of PRD sistem to QAS system how to create transpo

when creating system copy of PRD sistem to QAS system how to create transport request queue on QAS with:
everything transported to QAS previously but
not transported to PRD.
We have an approval procedure with delete form queue on QAS after import.
Basically all tr.req from import queue(there I do not have delete from import queue) should be entered in same sequence to QAS.
I know how to add technically one transport request to queue but how to do that for many(all)

Check the import history of both QAS and PRD from a date which is just after your previous system copy.
Use the V-lookup function of MS Excel. You can determine those request which were there in QAS but have not been moved to PRD yet.
Now, if you want to add multiple request in the import queue , I would recommend to do it from OS level but writing a script.
You will find multiple threads in SDN for how to add request in import queue from OS level. Below one might be helpful

hello,
Before anything update DB shared lib, R3load, R3ldctl and R3szchk in the target system. Also Check in source system if you have any tables o index missing in db02 transaction, If this system wa upgraded from a previous release please check TAORA and IAORA tables in source system and check all the tablespaces named in those tables are created in the target system.

System copy from SAP R/3 47x110 with Oracle 10.2 to Oracle 11.2

I want to do a system copy from SAP R/3 4.7 Enterprise 47x110 with Oracle 10.2 to a new machine with same SAP version but with oracle 11.2. (After this I will upgrade to ERP 6.0)
I will do this with export/import but I don't find any documentation (manuals or notes).
I only find this:

but this note is only for a new installation, I don't know if this work with system copy

This don't have information about oracle 11.2
I read the manual "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP® Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server 6.20" but this also don't say nothing about oracle 11.2
Can you help me? Where can I find this documentation and what DVDs (master and kernel) should I use?

I am facing problem in system copy. I want to knoe the way after restore i can move all the data and server data in one drive .
Now the error is resolve by changing the initTAT.sap the value tape to disk but now stuck in the drive for restore it is asking which is not there at os level.

Homogeneous system copy from ORacle 10.2 to 11.2 ?

We are moving our SAP infrastructure to a new datacenter.
We are currently running 15 SAP systems (ABAP and J2EE) on HP-UX 11.23, Oracle 10.2 and are planning to relocate our
SAP instances on HP-UX 11.31 ( Oracle 11.2 Ready) but we intend to stay on Oracle 10.2 and then in a few months upgrade to Oracle 11.2, to benefit from full SAP support.
We will be using the homogenous system copy technique.
Is it possible to perfrom an homogeneous system copy from Hp-UX 11.23 Oracle 10.2 to HP-UX 11.31 to Oracle 11.2 ?
I am quite certain that I have read a similar discussion on SDN, but I can't find it anymore.

You can check compatibility via PAM section on SAP Market place.

DEV and QAS copy from PRD

Hi,
We have ERP 2004 on Windows 2003 with SQL 2005.
Due to some corrections(config changes and abap corrections) were made directly made in our PRD System, we now need to completely refresh our DEV and QAS system with PRD.
As we do not have enough space to make a system copy, please suggest me a way to do a complete refresh without PRD data getting into DEV and QAS servers.

In your scenario , better to go for client export / Import process in order to refresh .
Select the appropriate profile :
SAP_ALL    All Client-Specific Data w/o Change Documents
SAP_CUST   Customizing
SAP_CUSV   Customizing and User Variants
SAP_CUSX   Customizing w/o Authorization Profiles and Roles
SAP_EXBC   Customizing, Users and Cross-Client Customizing
SAP_EXPA   SAP_ALL with Cross-Client Customizing
SAP_EXPC   Customizing Including Cross-Client Customizing
SAP_PROF   Only Authorization Profiles and Roles
SAP_RECO   Recovery (Only if Source Client = Target Client)
SAP_UCSV   Customizing, User Master Records and User Variants
SAP_UCUS   Customizing and User Master Records
SAP_UONL   User Without Authorization Profiles and Roles
SAP_USER   User Master Records and Authorization Profiles
I think you need   SAP_EXPC    " Customizing Including Cross-Client Customizing " .
Do not go for SAP_ALL as it contains all config and data .

Oracle DB copy from PRD system 10g to TEST system 11g

Hi All,
I have recently upgraded Oracle in the test system from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2. My Production system ran still with the old oracle version 10.2.0.4.
Now I need to refresh the test system.
Is that possible to be made at all, a database copy from production system (with old oracle version 10g) into test system (with the new version 11g) ?

When you upgraded 10.2.0.X.X to 11.2.0.2.0 on TST System
You would have defintiely taken the 10.2.0.X.X. ( Oracle Home Backup)
I Strongly feel..
Resotre home folder in Qty System
Change the Environment Variables of s<sid>adm & ora<sid> users to oracle 10.2.0.X.X home directory
Change listener file entires.
Restore backup of Production of 10.2.0.X.X
recover system as you have not done any upgrade on QTY and release.
...The rest all approaches may consume your extensive .
You are the best judge...
How you want to build TST System ....want to make easy ...want to make hard your self.
Business wants data ..The rest all yours decission i think

New Development system copy from Production

Hi All,
Hope you can help me out here with some ideas.
We are currently planning to implement a new SAP BW Development system, and for this we would like to make it a 1:1 copy of our current production system. Meaning all from customizing, ABAP, workbench objects etc.
But what we do not want is all the transaction and master data in infoobject, cubes etc., we are only interested in the structure and objects. Therefore we can rule out "System copy".
My question is then, is there any other ways to do this when system copy is a no go? I know we can do client copy but then we will not get all the workbench / ABAP programs which we need.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Options 1: As BI objects are cross client , copying client will not solve your purpose 100%.
You can perform system copy and then clean up data in DEV
Option 2: You can create a new Development and then create TRs for required configuration objects and move to new development system.
Option 3: Use SLO tools to perform container copy without any data.
