BW Variable as Prompt values in Xcelsius

Hi Experts,
We want to create Xcelsius report based on BW Query.
We can't use direct connection BW/Xcelsius because we haven't stack Java installed.
So we have used the other method :
- Universe on Query result
- QaawS on this universe
- Connection with Xcelsius.
Connection is ok but we're facing an issue with prompt.
We would like to have a mandatory prompt to determine a date intervall to filter the Xcelsius.
BW Query has a mandatory prompt but we can't have a pop-up on Xcelsius. We have to put values directly on worksheet to filter the report (But we loose query's flexibility).
The same issue happens when we put a prompt while creating the web service.
Have you any idea on how to display a prompt in Xcelsius ?
Thanks in advance,
Thomas.

  • Web Service prompt value

    Hi
    i creates a web service through rich client BI services
    i imported it to Xcelsius
    in the input values i have a prompt value which is durected to a specific cell
    this cell is updated from an input value or a flash variable or just typing it
    the problem is that the web service refreshed on load or activated by a connection button does not take the value for the prompt
    what am doing wrong ?
    10x

    Hello,
    We have a known issue with prompts in BI Services XI 3.1 SP2 that prevents input values to be correctly matched with query prompts during BI Service runtime / consumption, when prompt labels (names) include special characters (like spaces, dash, question marks, etc. that are escaped with underscores '_').
    Besides avoiding to expose prompts in BI Services, workaround is to simplify query prompt names in WebI document query so they do not include any special characters.
    Fix for this issue will be delivered with FP2 (XI 3.1 SP2.2).
    Hope that helps,
    David.

  • Error while passing prompt value in Column Formula

    Hi All,
    I have created a dashboard and added a dashboard prompt on that with a presentation variable named "promptdyn" that is basically showing bank names.
    Now i want to calculate the market value based on this prompt selection, so i edited the column formula as
    "WM FACT Sec"."MARKET VALUE" * EVALUATE('getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2)' As Double,@{promptdyn},"Industry Type".INSTRUMENT_CCY)
    But it is throwing this error:
    \nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
    \nQSError: 22051] The argument number 1 is not referenced in this evaluate expression: getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2). (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT "Industry Type".INDUSTRY_NAME, "Industry Type".INDUSTRY_TYPE, "WM FACT Sec"."MARKET VALUE" * EVALUATE('getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2)' As Double,0,"Industry Type".INSTRUMENT_CCY) FROM WMAdHocReportingBMMSec
    I don't know what is wrong here.Here i tried to pass the value of the prompt to the function.
    Basically I have created a function in the database with two parameter as "bank name " and "Currency" and calling it with the help of evaluate function.
    How could we store the prompt value and pass it to some other function?
    Pls help me as it is urgent for me to solve.
    Thanks

    He Solved.
    Just i missed out to write %1,%2 in the evaluate function.
    But one thing i need to know that how can we store the value that is selected in a prompt say in dashboard prompt so that it can be used in query. Because i need to select a value first from the prompt and based on that i need to manipulate the values of the other request of the dashboard.
    Please Reply.
    Thanks

  • How to pass prompt value to columns with formula?

    Hello guys
    I have a situation:
    I have a report with 1 column name 'product' and in this column it has a case statement like 'case when item is ('a','b','c','d') then 'Men' else 'women' end'
    Then I have created a dashboard prompt of the exact same column, and I defined the same case statement in the prompt's column formula as the same.. Then I tested the prompt and it is returning only 2 values 'men', 'women'..
    However, when putting the prompt and report on the same dashboard, the report is not accepting the prompt values..
    Then I set the presentation variable on the prompt and call it 'Product', then in the report I created a filter on 'product' column as equal to presentation variable 'product'--- I tried with and without single quotes.. So the filter itself looks like : case when ...... is equal to / is in @{product}
    However, when I then return back to the dashboard, I am getting the error:
    State: HY000. Code: 388918336. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27005] Unresolved column: "Product". (HY000)
    Could anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hola
    is possible that are you using a BINS agrupation into the Column Formula?
    if you form a CASE statement using a Bins agrupation, in the column Formula, this must be disabled to match statements between columns and DB Prompt
    if you are using a BINS agrupation to form the CASE statement, you have to delete the bins agrupation in the Column but keep the CASE statement

  • Data Selection for report based upon a 'Prompt Value'

    I want to report information in my report based upon a 'user input prompt value'
    for example:
    'Enter Shareholder Selection - A-Active, I-Inactive, B-Both Active and Inactive'
    if the user enters 'A', the report selects only active shareholders
    if the user enters 'I', the report selects only inactive shareholders
    if the user enters 'B' the report selects all shareholders, active and inactive
    the field in the database that this based upon is their total share value.
    if this field is greater than zero (>0) they are considerd 'active'
    if this field is equal to zero (=0) they are considered 'inactive'.
    I have tried creating some type of filter,  but am not having any luck.
    I saw a few examples within the forums that I have tried without any luck....unfortunately most of the examples I've seen are base one only two choices.
    I'm sure I need to create some type of 'independant varible' but am not sure how to do that either.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Daryl,
    I Tried this unsuccessfully in DESKI . We can't Eliminate Rows having Empty Measure Values or Measure with 0 as values using Table Level Filter as FIlter can't FIlter rows based on Prompt value selection dynamically. Filters filter rows at a time and not based on 3 condition as Active, Inactive and Both. thus filters are of no use.
    I Tried this in WEBI, and it is working perfectly you donu2019t have to create any Object in Universe, you can do it using function UserResponse() at report level.
    Hence if you are comfortable using WEBI for Generating this report then Follow the steps.
    1. Create Report With Name and Shares Object. It will display all Shareholder Names and No.of shares they hold.
    2. Use Status Object in Query filter, use condition as u201CEqual Tou201D and Select prompt. It  contains Active, Inactive and Both as values.
    3. Report will Display all Shareholder names and No. of  shares  like 45, 789, 0, 4562 where 0 is inactive Shareholder and all other are active shareholder.
    4. Create Variable using Formula.
    =If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Active" And [Shares]>0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Inactive" And [Shares]<=0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Both";[Shares])))
    5. Remove Shares Object from the report and Put Variable created with Names of Shareholders.
    6. Select Table-> Properties-> Display-> Uncheck the Option u201CShow Rows with Empty Measure Valuesu201D
    7. Report will display Value correctly as per your Prompt value selection.
    I Hope this Helpsu2026

  • How to use the prompt value in the report column

    Hi
    I have a report prompt column which is 'Adj Type' which holds values 10,20,30 and when user selects Adj Type = 10 then this value should be passed to report column.
    For Eg. Column 1 value is 10 and this should multiple with prompt value and the output should be 10* 10.
    Any thoughts how to capture the prompt values in report column for calculation.

    hi hsekar,
    1) Declare a presentation variable in prompt under the Set Variable section -->Presentation Variable -->P_var
    2) In Fx Table_name.Your_column * @{P_Var}
    @{P_var}{20} ( 20 is default value it will override when a user selects value in prompt

  • Variables/Input Parameters Value help not showing texts

    Hello,
    I have created a crystal report based on a calculation view in Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 SP5, which has a input parameter on the field "Region". For the value help, I am using a custom view based on T005U in which I have made sure that RegionName field is present in the "Label Column" property of the Region field.(Required for viewing descriptions of LOVs).
    In the crystal report, while previewing data in the query builder, I am able to see the value help for the input parameter in the prompt screen, which displays only the key part, but does not display the description of it. Moreover, after accepting the prompt value, the preview runs into an error(as shown below). Please note that I get the error below only when Region is a part of the output fields of the query.
    Instead of input parameter, when I create a variable on the region field in the main calculation view, with the same value help view, I am able to do data preview in the query builder as also data appears in the report on running the query. But, just as in the case of input parameter value help in the prompt screen, even over here, I am only able to see the key part and not the description.
    Are variables/input parameter LOV's supposed to display descriptions or just the key part? As also, any reason why I should be getting this error while using Input parameter?
    Kindly let me know if I am missing something in the development of this report.
    Regards,
    Alston

    Hi,
              I hope you are taking the BEx Query as a source to the crystal report. In the BEx query check region info object  should is maintained as  Text and Key. If text is not maintained over there you will not be getting text in Crystal reports.
    Krishna.

  • Passing prompt value to column header

    Hi experts
    I'd like to change the column header dynamically.
    the report is using presentation variable so it's displayed after the user had selected a value in the dashboard prompt and clicked on go.
    I'd like to have in the column header the value that the user had selected in the dashboard prompt.
    Is there anyway to do that??
    Regards

    Hi,
    Yes. you can do that by creating presentation variable.
    What you have to do is , create the presentation variable like LOCATION_NBR in the prompt, like this you can create as many as you want to display it in the header.
    The next step is to display the value the user selects in the prompt that should display in the header, for that , you can create narative and like the following things and achieve it.
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolot ="#00080" width="1500" height="25" align="center">
    The location No is @{LOCATION_NBR}
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    Since we define the presentation variable in Prompt and use it narative view we able to display the header based on the customer choose it from prompt
    I hope the above explanation will resolve your requirement
    Regards

  • WEB Application / Dynamic variable input / Prompts

    I've defined a variable on characteristic Currency with the following definition:
    Processing by              : User Entry/ Default Value
    Variable represents        : Single Value
    Variable entry is          : Optional
    Ready for input            : yes
    Can be changed in query nav: yes
    Default Value              : EUR
    This variable ist used in "Currency Translation" as "Target currency" (variables entry: yes)
    The query is used in a Web-Report that performs the following command by selecting currencies from a checkbox:
    url=SAP_BW_URL_Get() +"&CMD=PROCESS_VARIABLES&SUBCMD=VAR_SUBMIT&VAR_NAME_1=SL_CURR&VAR_VALUE_EXT_1=";
    url=url+value;
    (value is the code of the selected currency)
    Everything works pretty good, but opening the web-report I get a prompt window for the variable. How can I avoid this ?
    Changing the variable property <Ready for input : no> causes the effect that the dynamically changing of the variable doesn't work anymore. It seems that in this case always the default value of the variable is taken.
    The application should use the default value while opening the report, afterwards it should be possible to set the variable dynamically.
    Thank you very much for your ideas !!

    Hi Stefan,
    you can activate/deactivate the variable screen with parameter "Force Variable Screen" in your web template.

  • Prompted value corrupts SQL WHERE clause - bug?

    Using 10.1.3.4...
    I implemented a simple pivot based request that navigates to a second request when the user drill down on one of the fields. This field is set to "value is prompted" in my second request. (I chose navigate method above drill (dimensions) for a few reasons not really important to this posting, mainly to do with format of requests at different levels)
    All good and the drill down works well, parameters are passed correctly, except then I noticed that totals in my second request doesn't accurately tie back to my first request. After some research I found a very odd reason for this, my WHERE clause is getting corrupted - which almost looks like a bug in OBIEE and were wondering if anybody else has seen this behaviour from OBIEE and know a work around (before I try the Oracle support channels)
    From Answers the request SQL is (I'll highlight the lines getting messed up):
    SET VARIABLE DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT
    BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
    WHERE (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt; 25) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &lt;= 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
    Which results in the following SQL request (from NQQuery.log)... The prompted value (BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment) is added correctly to the WHERE clause, but see how the remainder get's changed:
    SQL Request:
    SET VARIABLE QUERY_SRC_CD='Report',SAW_DASHBOARD='/shared/01 - Financials/_portal/4. Pipeline',SAW_DASHBOARD_PG='Pipeline',SAW_SRC_PATH='/shared/01 - Financials/4. Pipeline/Pipeline - Current - T2',DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT
    BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
    WHERE (BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment = 'Enterprise') AND (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
    Which definitely explains why my totals do not add up when drilling down. Interestingly, if I run my second request without the prompt from Answers, the SQL request works like a charm:
    SET VARIABLE QUERY_SRC_CD='Report',SAW_SRC_PATH='/shared/01 - Financials/4. Pipeline/Pipeline - Current - T2',DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
    WHERE (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt; 25) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &lt;= 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
    Anybody had the same problem before?

    Here's the excerpt (it's relative to crashing, but I think it should also address the bug):

  • Display In Between  Prompts Value in Report Title

    Hi All,
    I want to show the in between dashboard prompt value in Report.
    So that when user download the report he will come to know the date range.
    I have gone through the couple of links but it does not work.
    I tries the below one but when ever i am selected the to_date it reset the from date also.
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2009/03/obiee-between-dates-prompt.html
    Thanks
    Nawneet

    I would add one thing to Saichand's solution which I use for the situation you describe. If you create two dashboard prompts one for the "from" date and the other for the "to" date and then modify your filter on the date column to be:
    datecolumn >= @{From_Date} AND datecolumn <= @{To_Date}
    ...then you just need to add two more columns to your report to house the presentation variables. Make these columns the first two so that in your Narrative View you can reference them as "Between @1 and @2"
    You don't need another report to place on top of your current one, just add the Narrative View to your existing report.

  • How to pass dashboard prompt value to requests in folder

    Hi,
    I want to have a dashboard page that contains dashboard prompt for period and list with requests (for this I add Folder and select "Expand folder").
    If I use dashboard prompt to set presentation variables, the chosen value is not passed to requests in folder list and as I understand this is the way presentation variables work. Therefore I tried to use Request variable, but get the same result - value that is chosen in dashboard prompt, influences request only if it is shown in dashboard not if I open it from folder list.
    Steps I did:
    (1) Created session variable "Period", that users can alter. Initialization block is simple dummy select - Select ’2008.08’ from dual;
    (2) Created dashboard prompt that sets Request variable Periods;
    (3) Created report with session variable value in it:
    SELECT Time."Period code" saw_0, VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.Period) saw_1 FROM "TEST" WHERE Time."Period code" = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."Period") ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1
    If I include this report directly in dashboard, it shows the session value that is set from dashboard prompt, however when I open it from folder list, it shows the default value 2008.08 although I have stayed in the same session.

    Iza, you are correct in your assumption regarding passing Presentation Variables to reports that are in the Folders object. If you have a dashboard prompt on the same page as the Folders object, then even if you select a value in the prompt, it will not pass when you click on the report name in you Folders object.
    Here is something you might want to consider to achieve what I think you are trying to do. Instead of having the Dashboard prompt on the first page, create a "table of contents" home dashboard page. What I mean is:
    1) First, create a Dashboard page with the prompts you wish to filter a report with and set the default values. Save this as the template dashboard page. Now, with a second copy of this template, drag one of your reports to this page. Save it. Using your dashboard template page, create another copy and drag the second report to this page. Save. Do this for each report you wish to display. Note that you can drag more than one report to a dashboard page.
    When you are done, you will have several dashboard pages, each with one or more reports and the dashboard prompts on the top of the page.
    2) Now on your "home page," drag the Link or Image to a section. Link this object to the first dashboard page you created in step one. Name the link the title of your report. If there are more than one report on this page, title the link appropriately. Click the "open in new window" checkbox. Drag a Link or Image object for each dashboard page you created in step one.
    When you are done, this home page will look similar to your Folders object, with links to each of your dashboard pages that contain the reports. When the user clicks on the link, the appropriate dashboard page will appear with the dashboard prompts and the report will be filtered on the default values. Now the user can change the values of the prompts as desired. When the user is done, he/she can close the window and he/she will be taken back to the home page to select another report.

  • Linking reports passing prompt values to detail report ?

    Hi,
    I am building a linked report in webintelligence on SAP universe which has prompts coming from BI variables.In the master report i have created a hyperlink column so that if user can select the hyperlink for each row.now if i select the hyperlink it should take me to the detail report by passing the prompt values.i want to pass the values to the prompts build in BI varaible.
    eg: master report

  • Getting the dashboard prompt value

    Hello,
    I there a way on how can i get the dashboard prompt value when using other operators beside equal/is in. It seems that you can only set a presentation variable using the equal/is in operator.
    Also how can i get prompt value when using multi-select control?

    Hi. Yes, presentation variable is only for is equal to/is in.
    But no need to use other operators ( is less than or equal to, etc) if you want to write data in presentation variable, use equal/is in if you want to show data that is for example less and set presentation variable and in the report instead if IS PROMPTED write advanced SQL filter like:
    TABLE.COLUMN <= '@{pv}'
    You asked also how can to get prompt value when using multi-select control?
    No way to do that. But what do you need that information for. Lets say that you are able to do that and you put multiple values from multi-select into variable, where do you need to present that data? In the report? No need for that because the report is already filtered by it.
    Also check this one:
