C# Winform App Adobe ActiveX Control- Stuck initializing

Hello,
I was hoping to get some help on an issue I'm having with an app I am working that utilizes the ActiveX reader libraries.  When I deploy the msi on my machine I am able to display the PDF files I download without issue; all functions of the control are working and I get no errors or response issues.
However it seems when other users run the same msi I run the control seems to get stuck in an 'Initializing' state.  We were only able to see this when the user was using Reader X.  I have installed versions of Reader from 7 up to X and had no issues viewing the files in the control.  No errors are propagated when this happens.  You can see on othr versions the control seems to start but then freeze and not populate the PDF file.
Is there anything that could be causing this sort of behaviour?  Perhaps some sort of security preventing the PDF's from displaying?
Appreciate and feedback on this or suggestions.
Thanks!

Just to clarify one point...
However it seems when other users run the same msi I run the control  seems to get stuck in an 'Initializing' state.  We were only able to see  this when the user was using Reader
I can actually see when using Reader X a progress bar and the "Initializing" message.  No matter which Adobe installed on the users machine it will freeze in the display pane for the PDF.  I am able to display it no matter the version from 7 on ward.

    I have the Adobe ActiveX control on my front panel, and I am loading PDFs for viewing no problem. I was wondering if anyone knew a way of how I could programmatically search for a text in the PDF without actually having to manually type text into search box and then click search... It does not seem that there is an available method to do this. Would I be able to do this by messing around with the API? Thanks for your help.

    Wow, that is a really cool tool. I never knew about that. I found the same method you found, but cannot get it to work with the PDF viewer that goes on the Front Panel.... Check out the attached VI. Thanks alot for your help.

    Unable to view external webcam content.  I'm using IE11 with Windows 7 64 bit.  I've tried deactivating Activex control, tried different browsers etc, tweeked the tools for trusted sites etc, but am totally stuck. I know the cams are working as i can view them on mobile phone via puffin browser.  I can play Youtube videos etc just fine. So why not the webcam?

    First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
    Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
    You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
    If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

  • Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 ~ How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control

    Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux) and Firefox 3.6.3  ~  How to uninstall the Adobe  Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control
    In general Adobe needs to offer Ubuntu (Linux) support.  I don't use Windows anymore and will go with whatever company provides me the Plug In's I need to function.  In this case at the current time, I can't use Adobe flash Player to view You Tube video's.  I followed the link that helps a user fix the problem:
    Solve a Problem: The video won't play:
    http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=56115
    I then saw that you suggested that I first needed to uninstall any older versions of the Flash Player and then install the latest version of the Flash player.  I clicked on the link find out how to uninstall it here:
    How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    They didn't offer any help with Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux).  Please offer the instructions and automatic (non-terminal) uninstaller.  Also, I want an automatic installer for Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 that is easy like like you have for Windows and like Sun's Java has for Linux.

    You should go to this site to see what versions of Flash Player and Shockwave Player you have installed.
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
    The versions you are listing (10.0 r12, 10.0 r2) appear to be Shockwave Plauer versions, not Flash Player.
    If you want to uninstall Flash Player, there should be an uninstaller in the install directory.  I do not know where that is on Linux.

  • App says "Evaluation Copy" but ActiveX controls are not evaluation copies.

    App has been running for 3+ years in a Win95 machine. Just moved to Win98 machine and now "Evaluation Copy" appears in app. I have copied the two OCX files from the Win95 machine and registered them on the new machine. I purchased ComponentWorks 3 years ago - I never had evaluation copies of these OCX files. Could this be a Win95 to Win98 problem?

    I doubt that this is a Windows problem; there are several reasons why an ActiveX control could turn to evaluation mode (see KB link below). I would suggest that you uninstall the OCX controls from your new computer and instead run the ComponentWorks installer for proper installation/registration.
    If you have version 3.x or later of the CW controls, you could also run the Measurement Studio License Fixer Utility found in the following Knowledgebase article:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/86256A47004E16D186256A99007BEFB7?OpenDocument
    This utility will help you diagnose the license state of your controls and will try to fix any broken licenses. Please read the KB carefully as it may not apply to your particular setup.
    If none of the solutions off
    ered here works for you, please email us through http://www.ni.com/ask so we can assist you in a more direct way.

  • Labview6.1 hangs on windows 98 when using adobe acrobat control for activex to open pdf file

    I downloaded the attached vi from this forum and it works perfectly in windows XP with the same version of labview(6.1) and adobe acrobat reader (6.0). However, it hangs immediately when i am just trying to open the vi on windows 98....
    I have also experimented with the MS browser activex control(activex container + object), it works on both windows XP and 98 for opening html files and on XP, it can open a link that leads to an PDF file display properly in the container window but it fails again in 98.
    Please help ...... thanks

    Hi I want to create windows user control using adobe reader activex control, which will eventually be hosted on WPF application. But I want to customize the control so that a user is unable to print or save the PDF document using the activex user control's user interface.
    Is this possible ...if not is there an alternative solution to my problem.

  • Missing Webdynpro activex control tab in Adobe Layout

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me the reason for missing Webdynpro activex control tab in Adobe Form Layout?Only few tabs such as standard,ISR are available?Not all tabs are visible.
    Regards,
    Rohini.M

    Hello,
    The WebDynproActiveX objects are actually xfo files stored in a folder locally. Path looks like the following: C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\Adobe\Designer\en\objects\
    There should be a WebDynproActiveX folder containing all the xfo representing the objects. If you don't have them, download an install again the latest version of the LiveCycle Designer.

  • Disable Right Click Pop-Up Menu on adobe reader activex control

    Hi,
    I am using adobe reader activex control on my vb.net window based application.May i know how can i disable right click pop-up menu on adobe reader activex control?I don't want search function from right click pop up menu.
    Please help me.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Ko Ko

    Hi,
    I would disable the right click.....
    perhaps you can call a javascript function to display a table of options on your jsp with a layer:
    function myOptions( )
    var fullText =      "<table width='278'>" +
         "<tr bgcolor='#FF9900'>" +
         "<td colspan='3'> <b><font color='#000000' face='MS Sans Serif' size='3'>Option1</font></b></td>" +
         "</tr>" +
    "<tr>" +
    "<tr bgcolor='#FF9900'>" +
         "<td colspan='3'> <b><font color='#000000' face='MS Sans Serif' size='3'>Option2</font></b></td>" +
         "</tr>" +
    "<tr>" +
         " <td height='35'></td>" +
         " <td colspan='2' height='35'>" +
         "     <div align='left'>" +
    " <br>" +
    "     <p><font color='#FF0000'>Select option's from above.</font></p>" +
    "</div>" +
         "</td>" +
              "</tr>" +
    "</table>";
    editLayer( fullText, lyr );
    showLayer( lyr );
    editLayer and showLayer will display table on JSP....remeber to call the layer "1yr"
    // Show the visible layer that is passed into the function
    function showLayer( _obj ){
    if ( ns() ){
         _obj.visibility = "show";
    } else {
         _obj.style.visibility = "visible";
    // Write the layer with the text in the parameters
    function editLayer( txt, obj ){
    var doc;
    if ( ns() ) {
         doc = self.document._obj.document;
         doc.write( _txt );
         doc.close();
    } else {
         doc = _obj;
         doc.innerHTML = _txt;
         doc.document.close();

  • Winform in Activex Control

    Hello Guys,
    I have a problem and issue in showing a VBForm in a SAPB1 ActiveX Control.
    can any one suggest code in order to show a VBForm into SAPB1 ActiveX Control..
    thanks & regards,
    sam

    check http://www.vbdotnetheaven.com/UploadFile/dsandor/ActiveXControlInVBdotNET04112005081747AM/ActiveXControlInVBdotNET.aspx
    there is explained how to create activex components in vb.net. The activex must be based on calss library project, so if you have form as standard form, you may use ctrlc and ctrlv for form design and code for moving existing form to class library project.

  • Digital signatures in Acrobat activex control

    Hi, can anyone help me please.
    I'm embedding the acrobat reader activex control inside a winforms application (C#).
    I can load a document and it does display on the winform application.
    Now, in the PDF document, there is a signature field, so when you click on the signature field it is suppose to pop up a window that acquires the signature from a signature pad (I've got a topaz and wacom signature pad connected to the pc).
    Instead a different signature window is displaying, where you select from a list of certificates to be inserted.
    Now, first of all is it possible when using the activex control to obtain signatures from external devices like my signature pads? I just can't seem to get this to work.
    Regards
    Gerhard

    It is Adobe Reader X, yes it does work with Reader in standalone mode, no web browser also the same thing, doesn't pop up the window to select the signature pad to get the signature from.

  • Microsoft Remote ActiveX Control

    When I use my Mac notebook through Safari to access my company's server remotely through internet, I got following message:
    "This portion of the Remote Web Workplace requires the Microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX Control. Your browser's security settings may be preventing you from downloading ActiveX controls. Adjust these settings, and try to connect again"
    May I have some advice how should I adjust Safari setting to avoid this? I have same problem with IE, but solved after adjusting some add-on in IE.

    I threw out all of my Dells 2 years ago and switch back to Macs after being away from them for almost 14 years. I'm a much happier guy now, however, in my financial planning practice I have to access secure web sites that require IE and ActiveX compatibility. The financial institution web sites are a mixed bag when using Safari, Firefox or any other Mac-compatible browser.
    My unfortunate work around is to use Windows XP Pro running on my Mac using VMWare Fusion 2.0. It works great, but everyday I am reminded how clumsy Windows is because it runs all day side-by-side to Leopard on my Macs.
    Given the technology today, I am surprised and disappointed that Apple has not added the right stuff to Safari to completely eliminate the business Mac user's dependence on Windows.
    For all of my other computing needs, except my ACT CRM (Windows only), I have managed to use the Mac OS apps like iLife, iWork 09, MS Office:Mac 2008 (less and less these days since the release of iWork 09).
    I am looking forward to the day when I can delete Windows and related apps from my Macs for good!
    Unfortunately for now, serious business users are stuck in the middle and stuck with some sort of method to run Windows software for business-critical apps. Bummer.

  • Failed to import ActiveX control

    I am using VB2005 express and VC#2005 express. With my old friend
    VS2003, whenever i needed to add flash to my WInforms, all i needed to
    do was to add the control as a com component and drag it on the stage
    from the toolbar. Now, when i did the same in new express version,
    althogh it is added in the toolbars and the references list, but still,
    whenever i try to drag a shockwave flash instance on my win form, i get
    the error:
    Failed to import ActiveX control, please ensure it is properly registered.
    does some one have any idea how to add flash comntrol as we used to do in earlier versions? Please reply this ASAP.
    Thanks and regards.

    None of these solutions are working for me.
    In VS2005 I'm stuck. I also have VB6 installed, and there the OCX imports fine. In VS2005 I get the above error message, but sometimes I also get a ResolveComReference error.
    1) When I go to the obj directories the interop files aren't even generated (so the delete then re-add solution doesn't work for me).
    2) running tlbimp on the ocx gives me a TI0000.exe error - Error loading library
    3) running aximp on the ocx generates a TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY error.
    This ocx has loaded fine in VS2005 before I reformatted my PC, and loads fine on other machines. VS2005 is local, but our code is on a server share drive, so my first thought was some kind of security settings was messed up, but I moved everything to a local drive and still no dice.
    I've also made sure that I have the latest VS2005 service packs, and XP is compeletly up-to-date.
    I've been working on this for almost a week with no progress, and I'm getting pretty desperate. Anyone have any other ideas?
