C309g causes router to stop internet from router

I bought a c309 and connected wirelessly to a Netgear N-300 router (Comcast modem),  I am able to print from my laptop wirelessly but after a few minutes i find none of the computers in the house can receive internet (though strangely my son's computer can still get Slacker, but not internet explorer).  There is no problem with the modem as I do get internet if I connect directly to the modem.  i changed the IP on the printer manually to make sure it is not the same as the primary server, but still I get the same issue.  Appreciate any advice.
This question was solved.

First, update firmware for your router.  A few versions of Netgear N routers had firmware that did not play nice with HP wireless printers.
Next, Setting a static IP in this way has fixed this issue with others':
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. Enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Anyconnect stops internet from working

I am using anyconnect v3.1.01065 and when I connect my computer can no longer access internet.  As soon as I disconnect the internet it accessible.  I think it is related to dns servers not resolving the requests.  Any ideas?

Well because by default AnyConnect is a full-tunnel.
Since you got AnyConnect working, so Ill assume that you have the NAT ACLs correctly configured
    Anyway to cover that:
In you policy group <GROUP> configuration add the subnets you are accessing in your infrastructure.
    #webvpn context REMCONTEXT
      #aaa authentication list REMUSER
      #gateway REMGATE
      #max-users 20
      #virtual-template 1
      #inservice
      #policy group REMGROUP
        #functions svc-enabled
        #functions svc-required
        #svc address-pool REMPOOL netmask 255.255.255.0
        **SPLIT-TUNNEL
#svc split include 172.30.10.0 255.255.255.0   -repeat this as necessary
Repeat the svc split include command for all the subnets inside your network that you allowed.

I have a iMac with a built in airport extreme card.  Does the imac act as a wireless router so that I can connect to the internet from my iPad by tethering through my iMac?

Depends which iMac exactly and your network setup, you can go into System Preferences and under the Sharing pane you can enable internet sharing from ethernet (or whereever you get your internet from) to Wi-Fi.

    Hi Mostafa sanad,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may want to use your iPad as a personal hotspot. Please read over the attached article for information on the process.

  • Neighbors keep stealing my internet and resetting permissions - I know they are running Lion and I can't seem to stop them from resetting the wifi and firewall options in Maverick. It's killing my internet and driving me nuts.

Hi - I thougth I was crazy but after a full reinstall of Mavericks and I can still see the utility repair fixing problems I know my neighbors are stealing in internet and using it. They keep finding different ways to do it - the only way I know they are doing it is because when I login to the terminal it no longer uses my HD name but some long server looking name. I turned off my wifi and plugged it in directly. This time, after the reset, they modified my firewall permission and reset some ruby framework. I want to know how to stop this from happening. Please help.

More importantly, or at least as important, you must assign a strong password to your router's login. Service providers of DSL and cable have finally wised up and their routers now come with a preassigned and difficult to guess admin password, but not all. Right now, I'm certain it's at a default. Check the manual for your router, but it's probably something like:
    Admin: admin
    Password:
Sometimes it's the other way around. The admin name is blank, and the password is simply "admin".
Do this. From Safari, type this into the URL/search field at the top:
    192.168.0.1
and press Enter. If the defaults are as simple as what I've shown here, that's how they keep getting back in so easily. All anyone has to do is be in range of your wireless signal, type in this same IP address and get into your router settings by using these uselessly easy to bypass admin name and password settings.
Once into your router's settings, they can see what you've changed the wireless login password to, and just login again. What you need to do more than anything is keep them out of your router's settings.
Go into the router's settings as I described using 192.168.0.1 in Safari. Find the wireless settings and turn all wireless off so no one is getting a signal. This will keep them out while you change things.
    1) Change the router's wireless security to WPA2.
    2) Change the wireless password to a new, hard to guess password as steve359 showed. Long, random, obnoxious passwords are best. At least 16 characters long.
    3) Now, go to the admin login page and give the login password an equally long and difficult password. Remember to do all of this with wireless broadcasting OFF, or they will be able to watch everything you're doing.
    4) Now turn wireless access back on. They will no longer able to login to your router to see your wireless access password. Not unless they manage to guess a very hard long and difficult password.
Make sure to write these passwords down so you can get back into the router without manually resetting it.

Thanks, Ronda! I haven't been able to try your suggestion because I fried my router! So I need to get a new wireless router before proceeding.
(I may start a new thread about getting a new router, but I will look for answers first to my questions and only start one if I cannot find answers.)

  • ITUNES downloads from store causing BSOD windows stop error- Please Help!

    Hi everyone,
maybe someone can help me out or knows how to fix this problem.
    Problem in detail:
This problem started since I updated to the latest version of itunes 7 to download video for my ipod video 30gb. Itunes worked perfect on my computer before updating as I used it with an ipod mini.
I was able to use my new IPOD 30gb fine and transfer all my music to it correctly.
The main problem occurrs when downloading anything from itunes store...1st noticed this when my podcasts were updating and downloading and then the system suddenly crashed with the windows blue screen error message and had to reboot. This happened multiple times so I disabled the automatic downloads of podcasts. Itunes then works fine when not downloading anything.
I then tried purchasing a TV show, whole series, and when it began downloading, the Exact same Error and Blue screen will occur--Very Frustrating.
I uninstalled ITUNES and Quicktime, and then reinstalled them via the latest download from itunes. The same errors still occur.
When windows reboots and sends error report to Microsoft, it states the error is due to a Driver error of which the specific driver is not known.
I have called apple/itunes support and spoke with them and they could not figure out the problem and said I should check with my computers cust service and/or microsoft as it was probably something on this end...I did this and they stated the problem must be something with itunes and especially since all other programs run fine on my system.
SO basically I am going in circles trying to figure this out so I am hoping someone here may know how to fix this problem.
Not only that, but I tried the same on my desktop as I figured I could at least download my podcasts and purchases to my desktop and then transfer to my ipod from there(as I am mainly using my labtop for my ipod) and updated my desktop to itunes 7 latest version,, and figured it would work on my desktop with same operating system----but it Caused the SAME error BSOD as my labtop and in same fashion....only when downloading from itunes.
ANy help is much appreciated as I got the ipod video mainly because of ITUNES video content and podcasts and if I cannot use these major functions on ITUNES than This Was a Complete Waste for me to get the Video IPOD.
Hope there is a way to fix
    Thanks

I afraid can’t help much with this, but no one else
has answered. It does seem very odd that two
different computers have the same problem. It makes
you wonder about the content you were trying to
download. As a matter of interest was the
installation for both computers done from the same
    download file?
When your computer dies, can you read the stop
message or does it disappear, if it does, go to
    Control Panel>System>Advanced
Click Settings in Start Up and Recovery and make sure
that Automatically Restart is no checked.
You should be able to get a stop number from the blue
screen and you may also be able to identify the
filename of a driver, which could give a clue to the
    problem.
The Microsoft Website has a certain amount of help on
specific stop messages, you can search for the number
of the stop message which will be something like
    0x0000000A.
There is also some help on troubleshooting stop
    messages here:
    http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
    Thanks for your reply.
As far as the content being downloaded from itunes---consisted of different podcasts and also on a separate occasion-the tv show Heroes complete season on ITUNES..So I would guess the error has nothing to do with the content being downloaded.
The ITUNES installation for both computers was from the same itunes download file on this website on apples itunes free download.
I did not write down the most recent stop numbers and no drivers seemed to be named on the blue screen from what I could tell, but I guess I could be missing something...
From a previous crash with the BSOD- the error message listed was this: STOP: 0x00000050 (0xbad0b158, 0x00000000, 0x8056ea22, 00000002)
not sure if this helps maybe figure out the cause of this or not.
Maybe this will help get to the bottom of this.
    Thanks

I turned off my fire vault by accident and is there a way to stop it from decrypting cause that is going to take a long time and i want to keep my hard drive encrypted.
is there a way to stop it in the middle so it does not go through the whole process

It's called, "FileVault." If there is no option to stop the process, then the best bet would be to wait until decrypting is finished. Otherwise you run the risk of borking the whole thing. It's hard to imagine how you can accidentally turn off FileVault.

  • Stop downloading from internet on CISCO1941/K9

    Hi,
Pls. suggest some commands to stop downloding from internet on CISCO1941/K9.
    Reg

On Windows I usually get two files: a placeholder for the real name and then the .part file which grows during the download and then disappears when it is complete.
Maybe try changing the location where you save downloads, it's on the General tabs of the Preferences dialog. If you normally use "Always ask me where to save," you have to change that temporarily in order to access the directory setting. Perhaps that will sort out Firefox's internal settings.

The short story is that the new 'certifcate checking' system could be downloading large amounts of data, you can turn it of as follows…

Turning off CRL & OCSP checking in the Certificates Preferences in Keychain Access solved the problem.
You can do as others have done, install Little Snitch & use the Network Monitor to view what is happening, that thread has some good advice. http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html
@Topher, Activity Monitor is a bit pants for tracking processes that respawn or just go away (I assume its because it's an on-demand job, have you got a nice article on 'mach services', Linc confused me !? ).
ocspd seems to do that in my limited testing,
Little Snitch is the easiest way to monitor & you can get away with the free demo for long enough to test if funds are tight.

Every time I go onto Safari, it doesn't respond after i search for something on google or go on Facebook. now, i have to use Safari in Safe Mode each time and the audio is disabled so i can't watch or listen to music videos. • How do I stop airport from shuting off during use?

I am using an airport base station with a G4 1.4 dual chip desktop. Airport will shut itself off while I am using airport, the signal drops low, and I can see what looks like redialing activity. The airport icon will open and close at will. Some times airport shuts itself off completely, and I need to turn everything off for several minutes and restart. Sometimes the problem comes right back up.
Are there settings in the system software or airport software that I can change to stop this awful activity. I have inactivated the network prot connections for internal modem and for ethernet. What else can I do?
    Thanks.
    John

    Hello again John,
    1. I have the Extreme basestation
I have the Extreme BaseStation (with modem) too so I can give you specific tips about it. Which one do you have? The one with the built-in modem or the one without a built-in modem?
If you have the one with the modem: Do you connect the BaseStation's modem to your wall RJ-45 socket to have dial-up access in case your broadband connection goes down?
    2. The base station connects directly to a DSL modem
Make/model of your DSL modem? Is it a modem/router combo too?
    3. The G4 mac has the Apple extreme card.
    That's fine
    4. Airport is updated to version 4.2 -- it was the latest one I found on the Apple site for downloading -- I try to update when software update alerts me.
    That's fine too
    5. I have a couple of laptops in addition to the G4 and the basestation.
    Mac laptops / PC laptops?
I assume the laptops are also connecting wirelessly to the BaseStation?
What kind of wireless cards are in your laptops (make/model)?
Do you have any services enabled like File Sharing, Printer Sharing etc?
    6. I have been living with this issue for ever since I switched to airport a couple of years ago. I asked for help a couple of times before and was referred to airport files about troubleshooting networks etc. which did not work for me. Whenever the redial kicks in and shuts down something important I get frustrated enough to try and fix the problem, so here I am again.
Now we need to clarify the issue. The title of your topic is "How do I stop AirPort from shuting off" and here you state "whenever the redial kicks in and shuts everything down..". Since these descritpions are contradictive, tell me what happens:
Does the BaseStation turn off (ie no power) unexpectedly? [this indicates hardware failure]
Does the signal of your AirPort card (inside your Mac) goes low and eventualy the connection to the BaseStation drops?
I inactivate the network ports for the ethernet and internal modem and inactivated redial options in PPP or PPPoe. However, the redial option gets reactivated occassionally --I assume the OS is repairing what it thinks is broken and tries to make the modem work. I haven't been able to figure out which file is responsible for this redial mess nor how to stop it.
Where does the redialing takes place? From your Mac or from the BaseStation (only if you have the one with the built-in modem)? What is it trying to redial (dial-up net access number)?
Go to AirPort Admin Utility and click on the Internet tab. What's your selection for the Connect Using drop-down menu?
Finally to do proper troubleshooting, shut down every device on your network excetpt: the broadband modem, the BaseStation and your Mac
post back info to continue to the next step

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.
