C6150 ink dripping

I have a C6150 that I replaced the magenta yesterday. It started dripping it all over the inside of the printer, but isn't printing magenta out of the print head. In fact, nothing but cyan and black is now printing. It did sit for probably a month with low magenta, low enough that we were just choosing to print black only (should be the default when I'm printing black and white anyway, imho).
I've tried the cleaning menu option many times with no improvement.
I've never used anything but HP ink, so we can avoid that finger pointing.
Any suggestions on how to fix this besides the "Color Mix or Missing Colors on the Diagnostic Page" page (which doesn't solve this)?

Remove the cartridge and discard it. Clean the printer and now install a brand new cartridge to see if it resolves the issue.

I have a great printer I feel, but when I installed new cartridges, two of them will not print. The light magenta and the Magenta they both have expire dates of 10/2011. I've tried cleaning and all other methods any help? Self test page shows those two magentas blank.

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.

  • Paper feed out of sync on HP PSC 1510 All-in-One Printer Scanner

Paper feed out of sync on HP PSC 1510 All-in-One(SN MY59SD224W0498). Goes to flashing orange light. With Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. USB connection to HP Pavilion GU658AA-ABU a6250.uk .
After cleaning ink drip tray including removing & refitting the small panel in the base towards the rear RHS of the  printer and also Super Glueing a small wedge of timber to close split shaft bearing for rear print feed rollers - looking from rear with clean out door removed this is at the LHS where the cogs are - paper feed is out of sync. When turned on with paper in feed tray printer draws in paper until about 2" (5cm) of paper protrudes from delivery slot & then stops. Paper jam is indicated by flashing orange light. On pressing Cancel/Resume, paper is expelled & another sheet taken in with the same results. Have turned off & restarted. Have moved cartridge cleaner tray right from front to rear & tested & then brought it right forward again & tested. Have turned off & unplugged power & USB & restarted after more than 30 minutes. Have uninstalled driver & downloaded & installed anew. Downloaded & ran the HP Print Diagnostic Utility. All to no avail. Any suggestions anyone?

    Hi there nobster,
This article should cover the blinking light. However, I suspect the printer requires servicing.

  • Stange behaviour HP printer Photosmart B9180

Today suddenly i have troubles printing from Adobe Photoshop CS5.
When i choose print, the settings dialog comes. Then when i press " print settings " Photoshop crashes
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x00007fff78b6d3f8
When i save my image and print it with Aparture i can perform all settings BUT the print result is a paper dripping in wet ink. The printer spoils the whole paper with all colours making one mass of wet ink.  (luckely i could clean the floor, because the ink dripped of all sides of the paper)
I noticed a recent update of HP printer software for OSX Lion from Apple? Maybe it has to do something with this?
When i print a testpage from the built in printer menu it works perfectly.

I solved my problem. (thanks to Robin Warren)  It's all about the new HP printerdriver that was rolled out 8 aug 2011, called Version 3.3
The crash problems and the huge ink spill problems are gone.
I posted my problem in the HP forum also:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-printing-and-scanning/Very-stange-behaviour-Pho tosmart-B9180-prints-with-huge-amount/td-p/804413
The solution is roll back to driver version 3.2 !
This driver is not available on Apple and HP, so follow the instruction in the HP posting ( in short, replace the HP folder in Printers from a backup)
If you do not have a timemachine copy from 2 months ago, i provided the whole HP folder as a download.
I know it's not the best way to solve problems, but i'm annoyed that there was NOBODY from HP supporting my threath.

  • I put in four new ink cartridges, now photos are dripping with ink, literally dripping.

  • Ink cartridge dripping ink every where

My ink cartridge is dripping everywhere.
I have a Photosmart C4180 all in one printer. No ink, so I was going to replace the cartridge. I open the front and found ink splatter on the front cover, behind and of course, on the bottom of the printer.
Question is, 1. does 90 deg temperature makes it drip? 2. I don't use my printer very often, 3. this is the original cartridge, printer is about 3 years old. I thought if anything, it would dry up before it drips.
Does anyone have any answer to this?
Also, it seems like there is no way to clean this mess up without dismantling it.

Just jumping on to this thread. My Deskject 832c leaked black ink out of the housing onto my nice oak desk. There is a pool of ink inside the printer. I'm using HP cartridges I bought at Staples. Staples will replace the cartridge, but not the printer.  Please advise.

  • C6150 message says unable to print due to ink cartridge empty BUT I just replaced the cartridge

I just replace one of the cartridges 'cause message said it was low on ink.  It still gives that message after replacing cartridge and I rebooted the printer.
    Any solution?

I am sorry that you are having that issue with the printer. Here is a document that addresses quality output for your printer. It will give you troubleshooting steps to try to resolve that issue that you are having. Here is a link to that document.

  • HP C6150 All-In-One Will Not Print Black Text But Does Partial Test Print

Hi.  Thanks in advance for any help anyone can proffer.
I've read through the forum and I think there are some similar issues, but none exactly the same as ours.
This HP C6150 does print pictures, but suddenly stopped printing black text.
HOWEVER, the test prints will print in black with the Windows Logo, but will not print any associated text.
Odd.  It just suddenly stopped printing.
    Variables:
C6150 All in One - No other problems for two years.
Using refilled ink cartridges from outside source. (not my decision)
Ink is full.  No other changes made in last three days.
    Troubleshooting Steps:
Uninstalled and then re-installed software in entirety.
Put in 'new' (refilled) cartridge for black and magenta.
Tried (not sure if successful) soft reset.
Tried cleaning the print cartridge with 'Q-Tip' and distilled water.
Have not yet spent money on new OEM print cartridges.  That is next step unless other suggestions merit.
    Possibilities:
It may be the refilled cartridges, but they've worked so well in the past.
The cartridge prior to the recent replacement was working fine and was not yet out of ink.
The print head might be damaged.  But this should/would affect all black printing and this is not the case.
Were the driver corrupt, the reinstall should have fixed it ... you'd think.
So, we're looking for some suggestions prior to going out and getting a new printer.
Thanks again, in advance, for constructive non-judgmental suggestions.
    MackNC

The likely cause is the black ink is not printing at all.  When printing graphics (like the Windows Test Page) black is made from mixing the color ink.  I would suggest printing an internal diagnostic test page as shown in this page.  Does the black block print?  If not then clean the printheads as described here.

  • C6150 - how to make it a black and white only printer

I have the C6150 all-in-one printer - it keeps running out of color cartridges even though I rarely use color printing.  I want it to ignore the status of color cartridges even if they are empty.  I set my printing option to say "black cartridge only" but it still doesn't allow printing and given an error message that "Replace the following empty ink cartridges to resume printing" - why does it need color cartridges to print in black when I am explicitly specifying it to use "Black cartridge only" in my print option?  How do I make this printer a black and white only printer and igonre the status of color cartridges?

I have that happen as well. I have it set to print black only and it is still using color. Haven't a clue why!!!

  • Ink saturation too heavy regardless of color settings

Epson RX 500. WHether color management is on or off, ink almost drips off stock- unless using standard offset, and then it looks like bad RGB to CMYK conversion. Would appreciate any help or even just a response..... anything..... all I get from Apple is "It's and Epson issue". All I get from EPSON is "are your photos very colorful? did you try using the "Gloss" setting? " I mean, C'Mon... it's not like this was a 5 yr old offbrand freebie that sat in someone's garage under plaster dust... it is a reputable company and well purchased model that is like new and no one will help.... no one even acknowledges that I post a question... and this is the 4th time in 18 mos that I have posted.....

It's all in the profiles. You need to use the correct profile for the paper you're using, along with the correct paper and ColorSync/profile settings in the print driver.
Profiles can be applied before, or during the print setup. If you're printing out of Photoshop/Elements, you can can choose your profiles for output there. Then when the print dialogue comes up, you tell it to use no color management. Or do it the other way around and tell Photoshop to print the image "As is" (no color management) and then do all of the color settings in the Epson print dialogue.
But one way or the other, you apply the ColorSync settings only ONCE. This all assuming that you installed all of the profiles the printer came with. You then choose the one that relates to the paper you're using.

  • Epson 9800 laying down WAY too much ink

I use a MacBook Pro to print to an Epson 9800 roll printer -- been doing this for years with no problem.
    UNTIL NOW!
All of a sudden, the Epson is laying down huge quantities of ink, especially when I print onto film (for screen printing). It puts down so much ink, the ink dribbles down the film and drips off the printer, pooling on the floor, until I leap up and cancel the job. What's more, the printer is printing a light-colored background to images that had no background to begin with.
Here's the catch: *this only happens in Photoshop.* (I'm using CS 5.1.) If I take the same image file, place it in Illustrator, and print it, it comes out just fine. So the problem lies in Photoshop's print options. Somehow, something got changed in the last couple weeks, and I have no idea what.
Here's what Epson support has to say about it:
Unfortunately we don't know what is causing the issue. We have seen an increase in calls with people having issues with CS5 but we can't do anything about it as we do not make Photoshop. Everyone is able to print from other programs just like you are, so it is narrowed down to the Photoshop program...
I'm hoping that someone here will be familiar with this *particular* printing problem, and what the *specific* Photoshop printing option might be that is causing this.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    also,
rule out the obvious that you are printing on the correct side of the paper
that you have at least deleted the printer, ran all OS-Photoshop-Printer updates and added the printer back and rebooted

  • HP knows how to make KISS-rule, simple, ink-sparing printers

I posted a message earlier today about HP's shameless ripoff re ink usage.  In that thread, one poster commented about printer design, print heads, etc., by way of explanation as to why my HP 6100 appears to use color ink, when in fact I am not printing anything in color.
It occurred to me that the answer is simple, and understandable:  everying knows, and certainly everyone at HP involved with printer design and sales knows, that on earlier printers--such as the HP 870, which I had for YEARS--the ink cartridge could be easily refilled (only once did I use a refilled cartridge), and they did not use enough color ink.
I finally had to dump my 870 when it became clogged with ink.  And boy, do I mean CLOGGED.  I set it down on-end on the floor and the ink came dripping out.
The case of the 870,. and no doubt other printers, shows clearly that HP does know how to design a KISS-rule printer, one that uses no more ink than necessary, that doesn't have any issues with print heads, etc.
All corporations in the US must make money, and no one begrudges them their profit motive.  What I object to is when they do it in a way that is such a blatant and unavoidable rip-off.
(NOTE:  I would have posted this message in my earlier thread, but it appears that that thread is closed; or at any rate, there was no REPLY button.)

As I mentioned before you need to select "Print in Grayscale" and "Black ink only" to minimize color use.  There are a few other considerations:
Always keep the printer plugged directly into an active outlet.  Using an external switch (such as an outlet switch or power strip) will cause ink to be used from all colors at startup.  This is because the printer will lose track of how long it has been since the last print job and will do the maximum servicing at startup
For your usage (mostly black, rare color printing) I would suggest the Deskjet 1010, or perhaps a used Deskjet 6840 or 6540.  When you get the printer install the black cartridge but keep the color cartridge in its original package until you actually need to print color.  The Deskjet 1010 will print with the black or color cartrdige removed in ink backup mode.
You are not likely going to be happy with any manufacturer's IIC type printer.  They will all use color ink even when printing in B&W as the carriage that moves across the apper contains both the lack and color printheads.  The printheads will dry out if some ink is not "spit" through the nozzles.  The frequency of this will vary; some printers will measure the relative humidity and adjust the timing but typically every nozzle must be cleared every ten seconds or so while exposed to air.  Your Deskjet 870 had color droplets about 30 pL in size and had 192 nozzles between the three colors.  Modern printers have droplets more like 5 pL and may have ten times as many nozzles to keep clear.  The smaller nozzles may require more frequent servicing.

  • C6150 only printing yellow

I replaced the yellow ink on my C6150 inkjet printer and now it only prints the yellow color when I choose color printing.  It prints black when I choose black & white printing.   It I tried "Clean Printhead" 3 times and "Align Printer" 2 times.  The "Align Printer" had an error message when done, saying it didn't align properly.  I've never had a problem before with any other ink changes.  I use genuine HP Ink everytime.  Could it be the yellow ink cartridge that is defective and causing the other colors not to show up?

    Hi Guammie,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are missing colors on your printouts when printing with your Photosmart C6150 printer.
Thank you for the detailed information, I appreciate it.  I’ve included The Error Message 'Printer alignment failed' Displays on the Control Panel trouble shooting document.

  • Discoloration and ink on wristpad

Somehow, someway I got ink on the wristpad and I've noticed there is slight discoloration. It's really frusterating to me, and would like it off. Does anyone know of away to get it off without hurting the computer. We've used hairspary, rubbing alcohol, fabuloso etc. Any other ideas?
    Hopefully I get some input...

what kind of ink are those?
if it is ink from permanent marker, try to write it off with whiteboard marker and wipe it off, it ussually take the dry ink away with it.
But try on small area first so you not making that more awful.
other ink, try windex for glass or water based solvent cleaner. Don't use solvent that required user to use glove while applying it, it might "eating the surface" and make it worse.
Whatever you do, don't spray directly to it and watch for the liquid material not to spill to the screen or dripping to the hole between keys.
Better to clean it up while it is in off condition.
    Good Luck.

  • OKI C6150 - Toner Waste Bin Full

I own an OKI C6150dn LED laser printer.
Yesterday, I updated my OS from Snow Leopard 10.6.7 to 16.6.8. Then, today, as I attempt to print to my OKI printer, I have begun getting the error message "Ink/toner waste bin full! OPC almost at end-of-life." Clicking on the Printer Setup in the Print Queue window, the bottom of the list has the entry "Waste Toner box OKI DATA CORP unknown." So, I tried to locate the so-called toner waste bin by referring to the printer's owner manual. I could not find such a waste bin.
So, I called the OKI Tech Support. The rep I spoke with told me that OKI had been flooded with calls regarding the above error message from owners of C6100 and C6150 series printers and that these owners are all Macintosh users who have updated their OS to 10.6.8. The rep stated that the C6150 printer does NOT have a toner waste bin and that the error message is generated by the OS. As a result, OKI of course cannot do anything about it until Apple issues a fix.
This incident reminds me of Snow Leopard breaking printing from Adobe CS5 with some particular types of fonts in documents. It had lingered on until Apple issued a software patch.
It is frustrating to deal with these issues. What would I do if my OKI refused to print because the OS thinks the toner waste bin is full? Ridiculous.

PAHU - There are two things that I can report today:
SNMP Disabled via LCD panel on the printer
I was able to find, among menu commands, that I can indeed manually disable SNMP on my OKI C6150dn.
SNMP Disabled - Confirmed via direct IP access
I accessed the printer's IP address directly and confirmed that SNMP is indeed disabled.
With SNMP disabled, I attempted to print. However, I was greeted with the same old error message "Ink/toner waste bin full. OPC almost at end-of-life."
    Any other suggestions?
