Have you had to cache database results within any of your software applications? What are the advantages and pitfalls developers should be aware of when caching database results.

We have cached the database results in client side cache (partially in arrays and in files on OS as well). But this caching is restricted to purely STATIC data (which undergoes no change under any circumstances).
Our application relies a lot on static data and we managed to reduce 10% of network bandwidth with this implementation.
We tried using client side cache for not-so-static data but had lot of issues related to refresh of the same so we reverted that change.
On a side note, this does remind me of the client result cache available in Oracle 11g.

I'm having trouble with something that redirects Google search results when I use Firefox on my PC. It's called the 'going on earth' virus. Do you have a fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

I'm having trouble with a virus or something which affects Google search results when I use Firefox on my PC ...
When I search a topic gives me pages of links as normal, but when I click on a link, the page is hijacked to a site called 'www.goingonearth.com' ...
I've done a separate search and found that other users are affected, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut solution ... (Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky don't seem to be able to detect/fix it).
I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

I'm sorry, but I know nothing about iCloud email. I stayed away from iCloud email and only use iCloud for limited purposes.
But take a look at this discussion and read the response from randers4. He is one of the iCloud experts in the Apple Support Communities.

Thanks for the straightforward tip. I had restarted once already, but the second time was a charm. The install button now works. Don't know if it mattered, but I also repaired disk permissions and then restarted in safe mode this time.
The printer driver is apparently a different issue in itself. It turns out that the my printer, the HP Deskjet F380, has some fluke that makes it incompatible in 10.6. A new driver is coming out from HP according to Rickmeister in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10076690&#10076690
In case anyone else has the same problem with the F380: Like the user in the aforementioned thread, I downloaded and installed the old HP drivers for 10.5, and now at least I can print in the meantime.

iOS 5.1.1 is the most current version for that device.

TS1347 I have an iPhone 3GS presently. My calendar does not sync with my iCloud calendar any more. Is this a result of the iOS 7 software update?

Have you logged into icloud on the iphone? Have you turned on Calendar in settings>icloud? Are you able to connect the iphone with other services on icloud, like contacts?

Facts:
OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0
Oracle Server 10.2.0.4.0 64 bits
Two BIEE servers, being one Windows and the other Linux, both using the same database source table (Instance ORCL01, table FACT_ACOMPANHA).
The issue is:
Using BIEE repository 1, hosted on a Windows XP Server, I'm able to query all table columns, no restrictions.
Using the second repository, hosted on a different box (Linux Red Hat 5.2), when I query one of the table columns (CD_SISPRENATAL column, VARCHAR2(11)), Answers doesn't retrieves any rows.
It returns the message: "No Results. The specified criteria didn't result in any data."
If I add another criteria to the request (using the CD_SISPRENATAL and any other column from the same table) then data is retrieved normally.
I must say, the CD_SISPRENATAL column doesn't have a NOT NULL constraint, but most records in this table has this column filled. There are few records with null values (460 out of 130,430). There's no need to add prompts, filters or anything to get this "error" message.
Also, I'm using the same RPD file for both repositories. So, I assume this is not due to differences in the rep. configurations.
Does anybody see any reason for this behavior?

BI Services (run-sa.sh and run-saw.sh) have been restarted several times since we copied the last .RPD version from windows to Linux.
Please, telll me if I'm wrong, but I believe this does flush de cache, doesn't it?
By the way, how do you guys set the BI Administration Tool to access the repository remotely on a Linux Server?

Software update say "your software is up to date" but i only have 10.4.1

i just got this computer used and I wanted to get the newest itunes update but it says it needs 10.4.9 or newer.
so i click on the apple software update and it searches for a new update then it says "your software is up to date" but about this mac says i only have 10.4.1 and i want the 10.4.11.
What is wrong??? any help will be appreciated!!!

software packet with install/restore discs within it.

newer OS X version than the original installer's,
there should also be that retail installer disc, too.
There may be some system parts missing, and a
previous owner may have tried to use Trash to
get rid of private user accounts. If this happened,
there may be issues in the remaining system.
Can you further describe the exact computer model,
build date, and configuration of processor, RAM,
hard drive, so as to tell what it really is? There are
some that look quite a bit alike, but the insides are
often different enough and may have shipped with
other hardware and software.
For some comparative information, you could get &
read through a database from http://mactracker.ca
which would show most every Apple computer made
and their specifications, build date, and model nos.

And why would the "Save media cache files next to original" be of any use??
Within CS4, i'm trying to understand the differences between the two..
If understanding how cache files work, i'm sure many of the users problems would be fixed, and performance improved.
Is there any references or .PDF's to show me how CS4 works with cache files, and how they effect the projects?

I highly recommend you read the 11g New Features Guide. Here is a sample from it:

on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded". We are facing this issue for past two month.But funny thing is server will be up automatically with out any service restart manually. Also if we try to restart the SQL
server service manually then SQL server will be in a dead lock situation and it will not come up even if we wait for long time. Then we should do a windows server machine restart to
make the SQL sever up. As a suggestion from Microsoft to fix this kind of similar issue,
we have installed service pack 3 for SQL Server. But even after we are facing same issue.

Also Reporting server is configured for the purpose of generating SSRS report from a dot net website.

What action did you do and caused the error "A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded", did you run report on the web application or something else then the error happen?
If you rendering the report and got the error, please try to provide us more error information in the log files which path like:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles
If it is not the case in step1, Please try to provide SQL Server Error log(SQL Server Logs) and more details information.

edit: There is one shareware that is an iTunes plugin called Multi-tunes. With it you can create multiple iTunes libraries, one library called "Main" one called "Bootlegs" etc, and Multi-Tunes will allow you to quickly switch between them from within the iTunes window. Not exactly what your looking for but close.

Should cancelled mailbox moves result in any moved mail data removed from target server?

I was moving mailboxes from 1 DB to another. 3 out of 120 were left running for 12 hours; they were the biggest ones and it was very slow to process the items. There were also reports of slowness on the server so I had no choice but to cancel the moves.
My question is should cancelled mailbox moves result in any moved mail data being removed from the target database? It doesn't appear that my disk as increased in space again so I'm wondering if it's there as whitespace maybe? There is an event logged to say
the mailbox has been deleted from the target.
Would appreciate if someone can clear this up and possibly explain exactly what occurs during this type of scenario.

In Exchange 2000, 2003 and 2007 mailboxes become unavailable during movement, when a mailbox move takes place, the mailbox isn't actually moved, it's just copied to the destination location. Once that copy has finished, AD is updated to point to the new location
and the old mailbox is deleted from the source EDB file.
The most different between Exchange 2010 and legacy version in move mailbox is that allows end-users to be online in their email accounts. On completing the move users just needs to reopen their Outlook clients.
Mailbox Move Requests are a new feature set of Exchange 2010 and requires running a series of Cmdlets to perform asynchronous online mailbox moves with the help of a service agent called Mailbox Replication Service (MRS). MRS is available on all Exchange 2010

I dont think there is any Tcode for this.
Try either of this.
Go to RSA2 (DS Repository) in your source system and display your source system.
If Extraction Method is 'V' - you are lucky and you see table name where data is taken from.
If it is F* - function module is used, and you have to go thru its code to see all the tables it uses and logic how data is
processed.

Since you have the extract structure and the extractor, you can try Extractor Checker RSA3.Execute ST05 (activating SQL Trace), switch on the trace and execute the extractor checker. Once the extractor checker presents the results
switch off trace. The clcik on Display trace and you will see all the tables that were hit by the extractor checker to retrieve data and present it to you.
Note: Set the break point in the Extractor Function module.
View the ST05 Extended Trace list. The Object name shows the Tables accessed.
