Cache messages in JMS

Is there a mechanism of caching messages in MSMQ or JMS where I need to code to fetch these messages and later process them.
Any links to any url supporting this feature is appreciated.
rgds,
Seetesh

Just use the JMS API or a JMS-like API for the programming language of your choice and you should get the benefit of message-caching.

  • Toplink Cache Coordination using JMS - doesn't work, gives a warning

    Hi, I am trying to implement cache coordination on Oracle App Server 9.0.4 in a clustered environment. I have two application sessions configured to use JMS for cache coordination. When I make an update to one of the objects in one application which is cached and used by both the applications, I get the below warning in the log file and the changes does not propogate to the other application.
    [TopLink Warning]: 2007.10.23 01:45:17.463--ServerSession(802908582)--Thread(Thread[Thread-112,5,ApplicationServerThreadGroup])--null

    I have no clue from the warning above as to what could be wrong. Does anybody have any idea? Is there a way I could debug and see what really is happening?
    Thanks

    Hi, thanks for your response.
    I set the logging level to all and this is the complete stack trace I see in the log.
    [TopLink Finest]: 2007.10.25 01:54:04.547--ServerSession(2121070148)--Thread(Thread[Thread-465,5,main])--Retreived remote message from

    I am using toplink version 10.1.3.1. I contacted Oracle Technical support but so far they were not able to figure this out. I will try using RMI as you suggested to make sure.
    I have another question to ask you about logging. I am working on a different application which is in production and uses toplink version 9.0.3. Due to excessive logging, I am trying to set the logging level to warning and I don't see this as an option in 9.0.3. The documentation does talk about it but using toplink workbench and I can't open the session.xml using Toplink workbench 9.0.3. Is it doable at all in toplink version 9.0.3?
    Thanks

  • Issues with TopLink Cache Coordination using JMS for manual DB updates

    Hi,
    We are having 2 web application using same Database and Toplink library but 2 session objects for both the applications. We are using JMS for cache coordination. JMS propagating messages successfully between the applications and able to see the same object changes in both the applications properly. Now, we are trying to refresh cache for manual updates in Database. We are trying to refresh single object which is modified in database in one application, refreshing in one application from which refresh happened but not in other application (JMS publishing the topic but updating one).
    Our intention is refreshing in one application so that JMS should coordinate and update in others when DB manual updates. Please let us know any comments for the same.
    Database using: Oracle 11g
    Toplink Version:- 9.0.3

  • Configuring Toplink Cache Coordination using JMS

    After having spent one whole day reading documentation on the above topic, I did not get anywhere. I am looking for a direction to start aquainting myself with Oracle JMS basics to enable me with the configuration in toplink. I hope someone could please help me in getting started, direct me to documentation and/or examples and then I could have some specific and meaningful questions to ask.
    As of now, I have these questions.
    1) In order to configure Toplink Cache Coordination using JMS, do I use Oracle AS JMS or OJMS provider?
    2) Should I be configuring OJMS before I could use Oracle AS JMS?
    3) If I am using Oracle 10.1.2 Application Server, will OJMS Database Schema be defined and the resource adapter deployed by default or is there a way I check this using Oracle Enterprise Manager Console.
    4) Should I be adding a JMS provider within the OC4J for the application I am using before I do any of the above?
    Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Swapna

    Ok. I found my answers
    1) In order to configure Toplink Cache Coordination using JMS, do I use Oracle AS JMS or OJMS provider?
    Either of the one can be used. Here is what I found regarding the trade off
    OJMS and OracleAS JMS are both J2EE 1.3 compliant JMS providers from Oracle. OJMS has been integrated into OracleAS 10g using the JCA adapter while at the same time leveraging Advanced Queuing in the Oracle Database for persistence and recoverability. If database recoverability guarantees, SQL queriability, transparent application failover, message transformation, propagation are required then Oracle recommends using OJMS as the JMS provider.
    OracleAS JMS is a lightweight, in-memory/file based queuing system that provides a complete J2EE 1.3 JMS implementation. It is suited for applications that do not require Oracle specific JMS extensions or the recoverability guarantees that OJMS provides.
    2) Should I be configuring OJMS before I could use Oracle AS JMS?
    No. OracleAS JMS is always provided and preconfigured, except for the topics and queues, with the OC4J installation.
    3) If I am using Oracle 10.1.2 Application Server, will OJMS Database Schema be defined and the resource adapter deployed by default or is there a way I check this using Oracle Enterprise Manager Console.
    No. The schema needs to be created by the admin and OJMS needs to be configured as the JMS Provider using this schema.
    4) Should I be adding a JMS provider within the OC4J for the application I am using before I do any of the above?
    Yes, if not using Oracle AS JMS.
    Hope that was accurate.

  • Delivery of "Cached" Messages

    I'm trying to set up a destination that will deliver "cached" messages to clients that may have connected/subscribed to the destination after a particular message was put into the destination. For example
    9:00 client A suscribes
    9:05 "blah" gets put into the destination, client A gets the message
    9:06 client B suscribes and also gets the cached message "blah"
    I've tried to set the following
    ServerSettings serverSettings = new ServerSettings();
    serverSettings.setMaxCacheSize(1000);
    serverSettings.setMessageTTL(0);
    serverSettings.setDurable(false);
    destination.setServerSettings(serverSettings);
    According to the docs, the last 1000 messages should be cached and they will live until the server shutdown. However my client B doesn't get delayed delivery of the message that was pumped in before it came on line.
    I want to do this without a JMS queue. If the settings I'm using aren't meant for this, what are they suspose to do?? And what should I be doing to enable the senario I described.
    Thanks, KT

    Hi,
    Is there anyone who is familliar with this part of the lcds? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
    Did you create your destinations in your application server? It seems that the destinations such as topics and queues are not created. First you should create them and then start using them.
    For example, in here, it says that jndi/Topic is not valid. To check if the destinations are valid or not; you can do it either through the graphical user interface or the command line console.

    What have you configured for the response tab for the sender? Are you using the MPL or the MDB?

  • Jms adapter not polling messages from jms topic

    Hi
    We have a jms adapter configured in BPEL process which need to poll messages from JMS topic.Unfortunately its not polling message from JMS Topic if we add Message Selector and Durable Subscriber properties in jca file.Please find jca file content below
    <adapter-config name="SyncCustomerPartyListCDHJMSConsumer" adapter="JMS Adapter" wsdlLocation="oramds:/apps/AIAMetaData/AIAComponents/ApplicationConnectorServiceLibrary/CDH/V1/ProviderABCS/SyncCustomerPartyListCDHProvABCSImpl.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
      <connection-factory location="eis/jms/aia/syncCustomerParty_cf" UIJmsProvider="WLSJMS" UIConnectionName="Dev"/>
      <endpoint-activation portType="Consume_Message_ptt" operation="Consume_Message">
        <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.jms.inbound.JmsConsumeActivationSpec">
          <!--property name="DurableSubscriber" value="XYZ"/-->
          <property name="PayloadType" value="TextMessage"/>
          <!--property name="MessageSelector" value="Target in ('XYZ')"/-->
          <property name="UseMessageListener" value="true"/>
          <property name="DestinationName" value="jms/aia/Topic.jms.COMMON.CustomerParty.PUBLISH"/>
        </activation-spec>
      </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>
    If we remove Durable subscriber and message selector properties,its able to poll messages.
    Any pointer will help
    thanks in advance
    Baji

    After changing below property in jca file.JMS adapter is able to poll messages from JMS Topic.
    <property name="UseMessageListener" value="false"/>
    But if i un comment below line and deploy my code again, it stop pulling the messages from topic.
    <property name="DurableSubscriber" value="XYZ"/>
    If i bounce the server after above change and deployment ,it will start polling the message.I am not sure why i need to restart my server after adding above property.
    Thanks
    Baji

  • Java Message Queue/ JMS Vendor performance.

    Hi,
    I need some help from you folks. In our system we are dealing with large number (tens of thousands) of operations per second. I'm doing some research in order to determine if we can use JavaTM Message Service (JMS) API in this system. I red that Java Message Queue was voted "Best Java Messaging Tool" by Java Developer's Journal readers and JMQ now marked by iPlanet[tm] E-Commerce Solutions. So I'm looking for numbers. How many clients/operations iPlanet or other JMS vendors can support per second. Unfortunately I didn't find any concrete example of built systems, number of maximum operation supported per second.
    Please response to [email protected] also.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel Drazner

    Following configuration: pIII 1GHz, standard vm settings, JBoss 2.4.4, jdk1.3.3 sun
    My project (probably good optimized) has following performance:
    - asynchronous sending message to queue:20 ms
    - synchronous (send/replay) 200 ms
    This are statistics for single thread, but this is some how scalable, so for 20 parallel threads you will have the same performance.
    Topics are much faster, but I need PTP messaging

  • Publish/Send messages in JMS to be delivered after some time

    I would like to know if the JMS standards address publishing of a message to a Topic or send to a queue which becomes visible or becomes eligible for subscribers to retrieve the message after a certain amount of time.
    In other words I would like to send messages to JMS such that a JMS subscriber can use the feature as a wake up call. Here the sending application sets the time at which subscriber will get the wake up call ( message ).

    I would like to know if the JMS standards address
    publishing of a message to a Topic or send to a queue
    which becomes visible or becomes eligible for
    subscribers to retrieve the message after a certain
    amount of time. Some JMS products provide this functionality. Weblogic and SwiftMQ. The latter has an integrated Job Scheduler:
    http://www.swiftmq.com/products/router/swiftlets/scheduler/index.html
    To solve your problem you'd create a message schedule:

  • Unable to insert messages in JMS QUEUE

    Hi All,
    I am facing an issue while inserting messages in JMS queue.
    The JMS Queue is on another weblogic server and now i created a bpel process which has a jms adapter to insert messages inthe jms queue.I am deploying the Bpel in my server which does not have this particular JMS queue.
    I am unable to insert the messages into the JMS queue present on another weblogic server. where as i am able to insert messages if the queue is present on my server.
    Can you please let me know if its possible to put messages into a queue on remote server from local server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Most probably it seems like an issue of security. Please try to establish cross domain trust between these two Weblogic server domains. For more information refer to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E1284001/wls/docs103/secmanage/domain.html#wp1175687_

  • GUI receiving log messages from JMS

    Hi,
    I have three classes: GUI, EventListener and JMSListener. What I want to do is to create a login dialog. The user enters his username and password, presses the login button and waits (as this process can take a while). While waiting, he can see log messages sent via JMS.
    I set up a TextListener (in my case a JMSListener) and a subscriber like it is described here: http://java.sun.com/products/jms/tutorial/1_3_1-fcs/doc/client.html#1027256.
    But the JMSListener never gets any message although the connection is set up correctly (this is just a guess as no exception is thrown). I think that this is a GUI problem. Because if only the JMSListener is running, it does receive messages. Is it possible that the GUI blocks somehow?
    Here is some code... First the class that holds the main method:
    package de.dtnet.client.run;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
    import javax.swing.UIManager;
    import de.dtnet.client.gui.SWDemoGUI;
    import de.dtnet.client.listener.SWDemoEventlistener;
    public class SWDemoClient {
        private static SWDemoGUI swdemo = null;
         * @param args
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            swdemo = new SWDemoGUI();
            SWDemoEventlistener listener = new SWDemoEventlistener(swdemo);
            swdemo.registerEventlistener(listener);
    }The code from the GUI (only the important parts):
    package de.dtnet.client.gui;
    import de.dtnet.client.listener.SWDemoEventlistener;
    public class SWDemoGUI extends JFrame implements Serializable {
        private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
         * Default constructor
        public SWDemoGUI() {
            initialize();
         * Creates widget objects and puts everything together
        public void initialize() {
            // GUI with JTextPane for log messages
        public void logOK(String msg) {
            log(OK, msg);
        public void logInfo(String msg) {
            log(INFO, msg);
        public void logWarning(String msg) {
            log(WARNING, msg);
        public void logError(String msg) {
            log(ERROR, msg);
        public void log(String level, String msg) {
            StyledDocument doc = messagesTextPane.getStyledDocument();
            try {
                doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), msg + "\n", doc.getStyle(level));
            } catch (BadLocationException e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
            messagesTextPane.setCaretPosition(doc.getLength());
        public void registerEventlistener(SWDemoEventlistener listener) {
            loginBtn.addActionListener(listener);
            usernameTxt.addFocusListener(listener);
            passwordField.addFocusListener(listener);
    }The enventlistener:
    package de.dtnet.client.listener;
    // imports
    public class SWDemoEventlistener implements ActionListener, FocusListener {
        private SWDemoGUI gui = null;
        private String logLevel = null;
        private String logMessage = null;
        private TopicConnectionFactory conFactory = null;
        private TopicConnection connection = null;
        private TopicSession topicSession = null;
        private Topic topic = null;
        private TopicSubscriber subscriber = null;
        public SWDemoEventlistener(SWDemoGUI gui) {
            this.gui = gui;
            initJMS();
        private InitialContext getInitialContext() {
            // set the properties for the InitalContext
            Properties env = new Properties( );
            env.put("java.naming.provider.url",
                    "jnp://localhost:1099");
            env.put("java.naming.factory.initial",
                    "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
            env.put("java.naming.factory.url.pkgs", "org.jnp.interfaces");
            try {
                // initalize and return the InitalContext with
                // the specified properties
                return new InitialContext(env);
            } catch (NamingException ne) {
                System.out.println("NamingException: " + ne);
            return null;
        private void initJMS() {
            try {
                // Obtain a JNDI connection
                InitialContext jndi = getInitialContext();
                Object ref = jndi.lookup("ConnectionFactory");
                // Look up a JMS connection factory
                conFactory = (TopicConnectionFactory) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(
                        ref, TopicConnectionFactory.class);
                // Create a JMS connection
                connection = conFactory.createTopicConnection();
                // Create a JMS session objects
                topicSession = connection.createTopicSession(
                        false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
                // Look up a JMS topic
                topic = (Topic) jndi.lookup("topic/testTopic");
            } catch (NamingException e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (JMSException e) {

                e.printStackTrace();
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            if (e.getSource() == gui.getLoginButton()) {
                // Do some authentication stuff etc.
                /* Now awaitening messages from JMS */
                subscribe(sessionID);
        public void subscribe(Long sessionID) {
            String selector =  "SessionID='" + sessionID.toString() + "'";
            gui.logInfo("Selector: " + selector);
            try {
                //subscriber = topicSession.createSubscriber(topic, selector, true);
                subscriber = topicSession.createSubscriber(topic);
                JMSListener listener = new JMSListener(gui);
                subscriber.setMessageListener(listener);
                connection.start();
                gui.logOK("Verbindung zu JMS erfolgreich");
            } catch (JMSException e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
    }and finally the JMSListener:
    ackage de.dtnet.client.listener;
    public class JMSListener implements MessageListener {
        private SWDemoGUI gui = null;
        private String logLevel = null;
        private String logMessage = null;
        public JMSListener(SWDemoGUI gui) {
            super();
            this.gui = gui;
        public void onMessage(Message incomingMessage) {
            System.out.println("You got message!");
            try {
                MapMessage msg = (MapMessage) incomingMessage;
                logMessage = msg.getString("Message");
                logLevel = msg.getString("Level");
            } catch (JMSException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            Runnable logTopicMessage = new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    System.out.println("Now updating the GUI");
                    gui.log(logLevel, logMessage);
            SwingUtilities.invokeLater(logTopicMessage);
            System.out.println("Message fully retrieved!");
    }I spent a whole day on this and I'm really becoming desperate as I can't see where the problem is and my time is running out (this is for my diploma thesis)! Does anyone of you? Please!
    Thank you!
    -Danny
