  • CacheConnect Support for Oracle Materialized View

    Does TimesTen cacheconnect support caching Oracle Materialized views? It is my understanding that materialized views are really just Oracle tables under the covers.

    hi Scheung,
    I noted following description in Page40 of standard document 6.0.8 cacheconnect.pdf
    Note: You can define a USERMANAGED cache group to include an Oracle
    materialized view, but the cache group will be restricted, as described in “About
    restricted cache groups” on page 49. Alternatively, you can create any type of
    cache group to include an Oracle detail table for a materialized view.
    and actually in 7.0.2, we can still create usermanaged cache group based on Oracle MV, but the above description disappears in 7.0.2 document. is it deprecated ?

  • Unable to start cacheconnect for Oracle

    I installed TimesTen on my machine (Windows XP) using default properties. When I try and start cacheconnect for oracle using ttCacheStart() I get a 10024 exception stating that OCI.DLL couldn't be loaded. I checked my path settings and everything seems to be in order. Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Hi Naveen,
    That's strange. Are you saying that you need to go into Services and change the "Log On As" setting for "TimesTen Data Manager 6.0" from "Local System" to the name of the Windows user who installed TimesTen, before you can start the Cache Agent?
    Were both the Oracle Client and TimesTen installed by the same Windows XP user? Does this user belong to the local Administrator Group?

    Hi,
    I assumes you ar using 10g version? I tried to find a solution for that....
    Add the following parameters to you bpel.xml file (under your FTP partnerlink) and redeploy the project:
    <property name="useJCAConnectionPool">true</property>
    <property name="cacheConnections">false</property>
    After that go to your OC4J home->default->FtpAdapter->Connection Factory->click on your JNDI Location->Change the property "keepConnections" to false.
    (or change it on $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/$bpel_home/application-deployments/default/FtpAdapter/oc4j-ra.xml)
    Restart the server.
    Please tell me if it helped you.

  • Connections in use in data-source

    Is there a way to find out how many connections are in use in the pool for a particular data source?
    I've gone through the Visualizer and JMX. I can find the configuration, but no MBEANS or metrics for how many connections are actually in use?

    I would separate the APPS and AQ adapters out to their own connection pools.
    AQ should also have a separate connection pool for enqueing and dequeing. It is probably this connection that is hogging all the threads.
    I have had heaps of issues with AQ tuning in the past. If possible be on the latest MLR patch as there are many fixes for AQ and performance. At least be the latest MRL for your version, e.g. MLR#5 for 10.1.3.4.
    A good property to use is, this can go on the in the bpel.xml or the connection pool directly

    I have tried for several days but to no results. Please advise how to solve the problem. Thank you very much

    Dear all,
    I have found a solution for this error. We could use Oracle 10.2 g on HP-UX v11.31. However, when you do the installation, command will be: "./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs".
    The steps to install oracle client are following ( $ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME):
    1) su - oracle
    2) Download Oracle 10.2g HP-UX Itanium "10gr2_client_hpi.zip"
    3) unzip the file : "jar xvf 10gr2_client_hpi.zip " . The new folder name "client"
    4) cd client; ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
    After that, you need to remove the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so and link to new file
    5) rm $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so
    6) ln -s $ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so.10.1 $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so
    7) export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/lib:$TIMESTEN_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    8) export PATH=$ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/bin:$PATH
    Then you need to restart the TimesTen Daemon so that it could get the new system parameters
    9) ttDaemonAdmin -restart
    if you do not restart the TimesTen Daemon, you could get the error:
    Command> call ttCacheStart;
    10024: Could not start cache agent for the requested data store. Could not initialize OCI function pointers. Error: none
    The command failed.
    And finally, the CacheConnect is up
    $ ttIsql demo

  • Newbie, help with timesten 6.0.2

    hi guys, i'm trying to install and configure timesten 6.0.2, in the same PC (it's name is demoserver) i have installed oracle 10g 10.2.0.1, the client tools for oracle 10g 10.2.0.0
    i'm reading a document called cacheconnect.pdf it is installed with timesten documentation, i have tried to install timesten with and without Access Control, and in the same case is the same error, the user i logged on windows is 'ricardo', it's password is 'verde13' i'm doing the follow steps agreed the pdf file:
    sqlplus system/passwordr@system1 system1 is the oracle service
    SQL> CREATE USER testuser IDENTIFIED BY mypsswrd
    DEFAULT TABLESPACE users;
    SQL> GRANT connect, resource, create any trigger TO testuser;
    SQL> COMMIT;
    SQL> EXIT
    then
    Create a TimesTen DSN
    Create a simple TimesTen system data source (System DSN), named cgDSN, as
    described in Chapter 2, “Creating TimesTen Data Stores” of Oracle TimesTen In-
    Memory Database Operations Guide.
    For cgDSN, set:
    • Data Store Path and Name: c:\temp\cgds
    • Permanent Data Sz (MB): 16
    • Temporary Data Sz (MB): 16
    • User ID: testuser (this ID is also used as the Oracle User ID)
    • Oracle ID: system1
    • Oracle Password: mypsswrd
    Use defaults for all other settings.
    in this case i'm trying without Access Control so i skip this
    Create an account on TimesTen
    Note: You need to create an account on TimesTen only if you have Access
    Control enabled on your TimesTen data store.
    Use the ttIsql utility to connect to the cgDSN data store. Then use the CREATE
    USER and GRANT statements to create a user, named testuser, with ADMIN
    and DDL privileges:
    ttIsql cgDSN
    Command> CREATE USER testuser IDENTIFIED BY mypsswrd
    Command> GRANT ADMIN, DDL TO testuser
    skip end
    Connect to your new Oracle account and create a table:
    sqlplus testuser/mypsswrd@system1
    SQL> CREATE TABLE readtab (a NUMBER(10,0) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
    b CHAR(31));
    Then insert some rows and commit the changes:
    SQL> INSERT INTO readtab VALUES (1, 'hello');
    SQL> INSERT INTO readtab VALUES (2, 'world');
    SQL> COMMIT;
    Use the ttIsql utility to connect to the cgDSN data store. At the command prompt,
    use the ttCacheUidPwdSet procedure to pass the cache administration user ID
    and password as parameters.Then call the ttCacheStart procedure to start the
    cache agent for the data store. In this example, the cache administration user ID
    is testuser and the password is mypsswrd:
    ttIsql cgDSNCommand> call ttCacheUidPwdSet('testuser','mypsswrd');
    Command> call ttCacheStart();
    here is my problem without Access Control i dont have an adminstrator, the error is:
    Previous attempt resulted in the following:
    Backend failed with exit status 1:
    C:\TimesTen\tt60\srv\info\ws\cgi-bin\cache/ttBackEnd.exe -connStr "DSN=CGDSN" -user "RICARDO" -oraclepwd [Omitted] -oralogin
    ERROR in ttBackEnd.c, line 864: prepare failed
    ODBC Error/Warning = S1000, Additional Error/Warning = 5107
    TT5107: Oracle(OCI) error in OCIServerAttach(): ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified rc = -1 -- file "bdbConnect.c", lineno 1381, procedure "ttBDbConnect()"
    ODBC Error/Warning = S1000, Additional Error/Warning = 5131
    TT5131: Cannot connect to Oracle database: connect_string = "orcl", uid = "RICARDO", pwd is hidden -- file "bdbConnect
    and with Access Control enabled is the same, how can i fix it?? i dont think is the TNS because from another client PC i can connect to Oracle using SQLPlus o VS.Net
    i hope you can help me.
    Regards.

    With 6.0.3 I overcome this problem. But before installation make sure that ORACLE_HOME is set correctly as an environment parameter. And if it is not set, after setting you should reboot your computer.
    Cheers

  • Call stored proc

    Hello!
    We use TT as CacheConnect to Oracle Database 10g. Can we call Oracle Database 10g stored proc from our C++ application? Than passthrough level we must to use if we can perform this call?
    Thank you!

    You can call Stored procedures using PassThrough=3 provided that the procedure does not return any values.
    Note that the procedure will execute in Oracle against Oracle data not against TimesTen data.

  • SSH exception

    We are connecting to servers VIA sftp and say we are moving three files well sometimes in the middle we get an SSH reset connection exception and then the process fails. This happens in our BPEL and our ESB so. From what I have noticed the one bpel project will cause this problem if we try three files we try two there is no problem we try no problem either. Only when we have three files, And i know people would think maybe file size and TTL on the SFTP connection but if you combine all three files the size ='s 1.5 MB TTL is 6 minutes. We calculated the current time and its about 1:40 to complete. Its like the program just throws this exception whenever it pleases, and at first I thought it was just BPEL but i was looking throguh the logs and ESB has this occuring also
    bold the above was osted before we found out that SOA is not causing these SSH errors it is a router or server or something to that nature
    Well besides getting rid of the error how can we handle it? Some kind of exception handling? Please exaplain how or where I can go as for a website explaining it. Like if we get an SSH error half way through we want to be able to save whatever started maybe rollback sort of to as if nothing happened. What you be the standard for putting in an exeption handler that will be initiated off SSH error. To make things simple we will put our code in a scope and add a catch all in there. Now I have done this but inside of my scaop I tried to include an compensate but it said it could find no scaopes :( tried to hard code the scope name and it yelled and deploy time. Anyone got some ideas?

    I have seen this when there is a loadbalancer infront of the FTP server.
    Even if you don't try the following
    on the FTP adapter set the following properties (Right-Click the adapter -> edit -> property tab) If successful you should see the entry in the bpel.xml file.
    useJCAConnectionPool=true
    cacheConnections=false
    In the oc4j-ra.xml connection factory for FTP set the property
    keepConnections=false
    cheers

  • Proxy account for Cache group creation

    i have a customer that wants to use a proxy account on the database to create timesten cache group. Schema_owner owns all the base tables and app_user has select,insert,delte,update privs on the base tables as well as private synonym. Customer wants to use app_user account to configure cache connect setting and create cache groups. Is this possible and supported?
    thanks

    It depends on the type of cache group that you are creating. The quick start section of the TimesTen Cache Connect Guide (cacheconnect.pdf) gives full details of the type of Oracle users required, and the privileges they must have.

  • TtCacheUidPwdSet( ) gives Error 15001

    Hi,
    This is regarding one of our customers who are evaluating TimesTen.
    We are trying to deploy TimesTen Version 7.0.3 on Solaris.
    We are following the Cacheconnect guide for release 7.0 exactly as it says.
    Everything worked fine untill we reached the step where we tried to call ttCacheUidPwdSet( ) with the syntex as below...
    Command> call ttCacheUidPwdSet( 'testuser','mypassword');
    It throws an error as
    15001: User lacks privilege ADMIN
    But this I believe is not the case. We have granted all the privileges ie. ADMIN & DDL to this user. And also the Oracle Database user with the same name i.e testuser also has all the required privileges.
    Can somebody provide us with some help here.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Thanks for replying Simon.
    You are right, database is running with access control enabled but the user which is calling the the ttCacheUidPwdSet procedure does have ADMIN privilege.
    The TimesTen user which testuser in our case has ADMIN as well as DDL privilege but still we are getting this error.
    What could be the problem?
    Also is there any way we can find out the privileges granted to TT user?
    I'm asking this because the GRANT statement runs successfully but when we call ttCacheUidPwdSet it gives the error that it dows not have ADMIN privilege.
    Thanks
    Amit
