Calculate mail speed

hi
please send me the java program to calculate the mail transfer speed, i.e comparing the sending server's system time with the receiving server's system time.

On my side the transfer speed is somewhere between
1600 kbit/s and 299792458 m/s ;)Mr.clappen
how did u calculated it, if possible can u send the details of classes , method u used.
if possible send code , i will be very greatfull to u, it will help me to finish my project

  • Strange issues with Leopard (Safari, Mail, speed)

    I have a 20" iMac (white model) which I got in March of this year. I just upgraded to Leopard (did the upgrade path with the DVD. Nothing set in options or anything special). The upgrade went fine and 10.5 seems to be running ok. There are a few issues though that don't make much sense to me and I wonder if there is something amiss with my install.
    1. Safari and Firefox both won't resolve addresses anymore. If I type in apple in the address bar it takes me to Verizon's search engine to resolve. I have to type www.apple.com to get it to go to the site. I checked my PC to see if this was something Verizon was doing and it worked fine in Firefox. Also weird is I don't use Verizon's search engine, I use Google so why is it going there? How can this be fixed?
    2. With Mail when I send an e-mail and type someone's e-mail address with some of the accounts, it will resolve their name just fine. It removes their e-mail address and just shows their short name like it's suppose to. However, not all e-mail addresses do this. Some will show me the full address. Not earth shaking mind you, but a bit of a pain. This seems to be tied to the Verizon accounts. Gmail seems to resolve ok as do other e-mail addresses. I checked the address book and it is selected to show all smart names so that is set up right and since it works for some of the addresses, I assume that is not the issue.
    3. Safari seems slow. I don't know if this is a network issues (the PC seems fine in the other room). My airport speeds look good but going to site to site seems to take a long time. Other programs seem to take just a bit longer too. Even mousing over the Dock, you notice a slight hiccup before it pops up. Nothing insane mind you, just a slight...delay. I wonder if 1GB of RAM isn't enough to really do 10.5 well. Anyone have any feedback on that? Should I bump my RAM to 2GB to get better performance? What is the "sweet" spot as far as RAM goes? Is 2GB gonna really be the best (I don't do real intense things like Final Cut Pro or things like that) or is 3GB really the best bang for the buck? Tiger was awesome on the system but now it just seems a little slower. Should I have done a wipe of the HD and installed Leopard clean? I was told there really isn't any benifit of doing that so I chose the upgrade path to keep everything in tact. Any suggestions on how to speed things up?
    Thanks for the help on all this.

    Well I have the same problem #2
    It seems that Mail will not resolve names in my address book but I can use the address button and search and select the names.
    Also it seems that my preview window will not preview some messages and it just hangs there with a "Loading..." message. But I can actually click the message and see it fine.

  • Calculate the speed of 3G from the code?

    Any objective C code or API's for calculating the speed of 3G/Wifi in  iphone device?
    I can do it by just downloading a simple file and calculating the difference of the timestamps for downloading but I'm looking for some straight solutions rather than doing some unwanted job

    This code can be used for cheking wifi connection (not speed)
    if ([[Reachability reachabilityForLocalWiFi] currentReachabilityStatus] != ReachableViaWiFi) {

  • Mail speed

    Since installing Lion on a new iMac, I notice that my incoming  Mail is really slow to download.....often a minute or more passes before it appears.
    Has anyone else observed a similar slowdown with Lion?

    Yes. The new mail system is horrible.
    First they said oh 4GB of ram is not enough, so I doubled it to 8 GB on an i5 2.4GHz. Funny, now mail is even slower.
    In all version of OS X for the last 10 years, this is by far the WORST OS update from these people to date. No wonder they only charged $29. and at that price it was a total rip off.
    I would not expect Apple to do anything about this. It's not a priority for them. Just like so many issues they have, they won't talk about it, they won't listen to their user base, it's basically here's a one finger salute to you, now give us more money.

  • Exchange server + Mail  = slow speed...

    Recently, our mail system switched servers, and now we are on a new Exchange server.
    Mail speed became inconsistent, sometimes it's very quick and responsive, sometimes it's stays stuck, and when I look at the progress bar, the speed of outgoing or incoming messages becomes 0 kb/s over many minutes. I have to shut down mail and restart it to push the message out.
    What gives? Is this something that can be fixed in Mail settings? Please help, this is super annoying!!! By the way, I have the same problem when I access my accounts using Mail on my MBA. The settings for Mail are the same for my desktop and laptop.
    Artur

    First, understand that Mail and Entourage connect to Exchange Servers differently. Mail uses IMAP while Entourage uses DAV. Since you said you've tried using both applications then you may indeed have a problem with your account.
    I suggest you test your connection under a different user account on your Mac OS X system or a different Mac. If this fails then you can be fairly certain the problem is with your Exchange Server account.
    If you find your Exchange Server account is the problem then try resetting your domain password, which is probably the same as your Exchange Server password. Be sure to create a complex password in case your login requires it. It should be 1) eight characters or longer, 2) contain at least one UPPER case letter, 3) contain at least one lower case letter and 4) contain at least one number or special character from the shifted numbers. Something like P@55w0rd would work just fine.
    If you can use Entourage with your Exchange Server I encourage you to do this instead of using Mail. Entourage can take advantage of mail, contacts and calendaring with the Exchange Server. For detailed instructions have a look at The Entourage Help Page <http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeatwork.html>.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Cpu frequency/bus speed mem speed calculator

    have made a simple tool which calculates
    cpu bus mem speeds depending on
    multiplier clock mem ht mem ratio etc.
    how do i post the file on this forum so people can try it out ?
    or if anyone wants it i will mail it..

    hmmz I don't know how to do that either, but sounds like an interesting tool you have there. It is quite difficult to calculate mem speeds on an AMD64 based system. Hope anyone knows how to post a file on this forum!

  • Biased Hall effect sensor and NI 9201 module. How can I calculate the velocity of an object?

    For my final year project at university I have designed and built a drop tower for testing the energy dissipation performance of test pieces.
    In the system I specified having a biased Hall effect sensor (gear tooth sensor) to calculate the speed of the impactor by having a serrated target (ferritic) moving past it.
    The idea behind having a serrated target was to enable an average of several readings of time period to be taken, then to use this to divide the known length of the serrations to calculate speed.
    The problem I am having is when using the time period measuring block in LV it only wants to measure the period of the first wave, is there any way I could get LV to measure all four periods (there are four serrations) and average them?
    Here is an image of the target incase what I have said was a little confusing: http://tinypic.com/r/2a0b8ck/6
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    1. The NI 9201 has only analog inputs, so you have no other choices with that devices.  I did not look it up before my earlier response.  Something about the wording of your first post made me think you were measuring the period with a counter.
    2. I am not sure which "time period measuring block" you are using.  Please post your VI.  Before you post it, run it with your Hall sensor so that you have some data recorded.  Go to the Edit menu and choose Make Current Values Default."  Save the VI.  The indicators on your VI will then have your data saved.  Post that VI.
    3. I am assuming that you will get a signal which looks something like this, although not necessarily starting exactl at zero time or having exactly uniform spacing between the pulses.
    Using some simple logic you can determine the time of the transitions between high and low.  The differences between the times of successive transitions are your periods.  For the image above the falling edges (going from +1 to -1) occur at about 64, 192, 320, and 448.  The differences are 128 in each case.  For your impact data the differences are likely to not all be the same as yout target decelerates.
    After I see you VI, I can give some suggestions about how to proceed to calculate the differences.

  • Using iCloud mail in Snow Leopard - AND restoring old mail system

    I use Snow Leopard and cannot upgrade to Lion since my MacBook Pro is too old.
    Apple discontinued my traditional Mail service last week and said it is now transferred to iCloud.
    1. Is there any way I can get my traditional Mail service restored since I like it better than the "improved?" iCloud-based mail service.
    2. What I don't like about the new iCloud-based mail service is...
    a. Sent mail does not always appear in my Sent folder.
    b. When wanting to file a recent mail message away, I have to scroll thru all the folders AND many, many sub-folders. The system does not let me hide the sub-folders so I don't have to scroll so long.
    c. It seems as if the iCloud mail speed is much slower than the old non-iCloud mail service.
    d. It is very hard to make to Contacts for ease in sending mail
    3. IF there is no way to get my traditional mail service restored, is there a way to get the "classic" look if I am forced to use the iCloud mail system?
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Encoder Speed with NI 9215 module and cDAQ-9172

    I've a NI cDAQ-9172 with the NI9215 analog input module, and I want to estimate the speed with an optical encoder (OMRON E6A2-CW3C). My approach was, making a comparison with a point in the midle of the high of the signal, ie 4V, making this way a perfect square signal with 1of high. After that I use the Tone Measurements and the Timing and Transition Measurements modules to calculate the frequency of the wave form, and this way I'm able to calculate the RPM speed.
    The problem with this solution, is that even with the engine at a constant speed of 746RPM, measured with a stroboscope, Labview give me a high variable values between 730RPM to 760RPM, and I can't solve this problem because I really need an accurate measurement.
    Should I buy for example the NI 9401 module to make this measurement? If so, does any one knows how to build a VI to get the encoder speed?
    In attach I send the VI that I'm using to calculate the speed.
    Thank you for help.

    Hi,
    The best way to measure a speed through a quadrature encoder is to use the counters that are inside the cDAQ chassis.
    With the 9172 chassis, you need a digital I/O module (9401) in order to access the counters.
    With the new generation of chassis (9178), you don't need the 9401 because you can connect your encoder signals to the BNC.

  • Record data at one sample rate and calculate velocity

    I need to record position data at a sample rate of 10 hz but I would like to calculate velocity every half a second.  What is the best way to do this so the velocity display does not jump?  I want to capture quick responses but I would also like to calculate the velocity over a longer period of time like 1 minute.

    I am trying to calculate vertical speed based on pressure altitude data.  I am using serial communication to measure pressure at 10 Hz.  I am using Labview 8.2 for all of the calculations and measurements.
    I am looking for some way to average the data over some time interval that I have yet to determine.  I want to be able to see any major pressure changes whithin about .5 seconds but I also need to see trends over a longer time period say 2 to 10 seconds.
    I have thought about using an array and then averaging the array or implimenting a rolling digital filter.

  • Is this the best way to measure the speed of an input stream?

    Hi guys,
    I have written the following method to read the source of a web page. I have added the functionality to calculate the speed.
    public StringBuffer read(String url)
            int lc = 0;
            long lastSpeed = System.currentTimeMillis();
            //string buffer for reading in the characters
            StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer();
            try
                //try to set URL
                URL URL = new URL(url);
                //create input streams
                InputStream content = (InputStream) URL.getContent();
                BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(content));
                //in line
                String line;
                //while still reading in
                while ((line = in.readLine()) != null)
                    lc++;
                    if ((lc % _Sample_Rate) == 0)
                        this.setSpeed(System.currentTimeMillis() - lastSpeed);
                        lastSpeed = System.currentTimeMillis();
                    //add character to string buffer
                    buffer.append(line);
            //catch errors
            catch (MalformedURLException e)
                System.out.println("Invalid URL - " + e);
            catch (IOException e)
                System.out.println("Invalid URL - " + e);
            //return source
            return buffer;
        }Is it faster to read bytes rather than characters?
    This method is a very important part of my project and must be as quick as possible.
    Any ideas on how I can make it quicker? Is my approach to calculating the speed the best way to it?
    Any help/suggestions would be great.
    thanks
    alex

    sigh
    reading bytes might be slightly faster than reading chars, since you don't have to do the conversion and you don't have to make String objects. Certainly, you don't want to use readLine. If you're using a reader, use read(buf, length, offset)
    My suggestion:
    Get your inputstream, put a bufferedInputStream over it, and use tje loadAll method from my IOUtils class.
    IOUtils is given freely, but please do not change its package or submit this as your own work.

  • Measure speed

    Hello,
    I want to measure the speed through an encoder.
    So My system is composed by
    - a PXI 1000B with 2 6025E
    - on the first 6025 E, I connect a BNC 2090
    So I used the BNC 2090 to connect the encoder with the user BNC and PFI7.
    In my application, I synchronize the signal of the BNC2090 and the signal of SCXI1112 connecting to the second 6025E.
    But in my application, I don t know how to have the same scan rate for the speed. For the moment I use the Measure frequency.vi but I have the speed only every 0.2s and I need every 0.01s.
    So I can I proceed.
    Thanks

    Hi mous,
    Try taking a look at the example: "Measure Buffered Period (DAQ-STC).vi" in
    the examples bundled with LabVIEW.
    Knowing the gating time and number of encoder pulses per unit, its easy to
    calculate the speed in units per second.

  • MacBook Pro Fans Not Speeding Up

    Today, i began to notice that my MBP was running a bit slower than usual. After a couple hours of use, I also noticed it was running a lot hotter than usual. My laptop was running at 170F with only 30% CPU usage. I didn't make too much of it, and considered it an anomaly. Later on in the day, I noticed began to realize that my fan was running a lot slower than usual at higher temperatures. It was only running at 2000-3000RPM regardless of the temperature of the laptop or how much intensive activity I was doing.
    My first thought was "Oh great, the fans must be broken and I'll have to bring it into a shop and go through all that again...". I just had my fans die on my old MacBook, and I didn't want to deal with this again. To test the fans, I downloaded smcFanControl and manually set the fans to run at 6200RPM. Sure enough, manually setting it to 6200RPM sped up the fan. Now I knew that the fans themselves were working and could reach the higher speeds.
    What next? I tried a restart. Nothing changed.
    What now? Well, I obviously knew that smc involved the fan/temperature control, and I could reset it. So I did that. I reset my smc. Still no change.
    I started playing around with the fans using smcFanControl and noticed that no matter what minimum speed I would set it to at what temperature, it would always go with the minimum. If it was 5000, it would use 5000. If it was 6200, it would use 6200. If it was 2000 at 190F, it would use 2000.
    What should I do from here? Where should I go? If it was easy for me to get to an Apple Store I would just go there, but transportation is an issue and the store is a ways away, so I'd rather fix it on my own. Obviously, the fans can go up to the normal 6200RPM, but they won't for some rason.
    Other info:
    - All temperature sensors are working and seem to be reporting accurately
    - There has been no physical damage to it lately. No spills, drops, or other impacts.
    - It's a 13-inch, Late 2011 model

    If they failed, would they be reporting accurate temperatures? Using iStat, I can still see that they're about right. I've been monitoring temperatures for awhile on my MBP, way before this issue started so I have a feel what they should report.
    Currently they're reporting:
    Enclosures: Body temp to 105F
    HD: 100F-110F
    CPU: 150F-200F
    Heatsinks: 130F-160F
    Those seem a bit right. I imagine the equation to calculate fan speed takes the input of the temperature sensors and CPU usage stats and varies accordingly. Well, the temperature sensors are reporting valid data, so if my theory is correct I don't think it's an issue.

  • Frequency measurement with High Speed Digitizer using External Trigger

    Hello:
    I have a

    Hello Brooks:
    Thank you for attention !
    I will try to explain my application:
    I need to measure a signal of a speed/position sensor. This sensor works with hall effect principle and is placed in front of a wheel with some teethes. Is used for automotive purpose in CAM and CRANKSHAFT applications. So, I need to measure period, duty cycle, rise time, fall time, Vpp, Angles for each teeth x encoder, everything from 40 to 7500 rpm.
    I'm using CH0 to measure a signal of this speed/position sensor.
    I'm using CH1 to measure a signal of an encoder connected to wheel.
    I'm using EXT Trigger to sync acquisition with encoder's INDEX signal.
    I need to measure the frequency of EXT trigger to know the instantly speed of the wheel.
    So, If I know that my encoder has 2048 pulse/rev, I can measure FFT_FREQUENCY of CH1 with scalar measurement functions and calculate the speed !
    The NI-Scope is wonderful because it can measure a lot of things automatic and fast, like period, frequency, duty cycle, rise/fall times ...
    Now I have one more question:
    I want to use 10:1 attenuation but I can't use a common probe. I want to connect the CH0 to sensor with a special connector.
    I've tried to make the same circuit with 9MOhms and capacitor like explained on site, but I reached bad results. The industrial probes has special characteristics for capacitance and noise rejection.
    Do you know how can I solve it ?
    Thank you.
