Calculated item in pivot table - OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I need to display only the calculated items in my pivot table and I want to hide the other members. I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0.
Is it possible to have different selection steps for different views.

Calculated Items and Action Links (OBIEE 11g)

Hi,
On OBIEE 11g here...
I have an anaylsis which shows a pivot table with only 6 columns of calculated items, with all of the standard columns hidden. The split of the pivot has been achieved using a variable created using the bin function.
I have set an action link on the measure shown in the pivot table to navigate to another analysis and, while clicking on one of the measures in a pivot column runs the specified report, it is not run using the the necessary parameters required to match the dataset shown in that particular column.
Is it possible to drill to a separate report and pass through the required filters from a measure showing in a calculated item, as it would be on a measure showing in a standard pivot table column?

You need to have 'Is Prompted' for that specific measure. I would suggest to use action links on other columns instead of metrics.

Wrong value with calculated item in pivot table

I have a report with 4 columns:
First Column are Department Dimension
Second Column is Actual value
Third Column is Previous value
Four Column is: ((Actual Value-Previous Value)/Previous Value))*100 that called Var
Then I do a pivot table and I have new calculated item: Department1/Department2 and I have wrong value in four column:
Department----------------------------------Actual-------Previous------Var
Dept1------------------------------------------18503--------16308--------13,5
Dept2-------------------------------------------3758---------3518----------6,8
(Calculated Item: Dept1/Dept2)--------4,92---------4,64------------*2* <---- This value is wrong...and it has to be: 6,03

Create a logical column with ur calculation formula and make it as default agg rule in rpd and answers change it to server determined/server complex agg.I did the same it was working fine for me!!

Formatting pivot tables (obiee 11g)

Hi, I'm trying to find good ways to format pivot table results in 11g. Can someone help answer the following questions? Note that I'm putting the "measures" label into the row position, which allows me to format measures differently from each other.
1. I'd like to put blank rows into the output to space the report. I tried creating a dummy "spacer" measure and then setting display:none in the CSS style. However, this leaves an ugly blank spot that has a gray color in the output. Is there an easier way just to add blank spaces between rows?
2. The default grid lines on all pivot tables are really dark. If you're a Stephen Few afficianado, they really interfere with reading the numbers. Is there a simple way to default pivots to have less obvious grid lines?
3. Is there a way to turn off the "word wrap = TRUE" for everything? I've tried setting default number formats for all items to have word wrap turned off...I don't know who would EVER want minus signs wrapping around in numbers...despite this, any new metric I create ALWAYS seems to have stupid word wrapping turned on. If anything, I'd like the default to be off for all items.

Move position of calculated item in pivot table

Hi experts,
I have done the pivot table in the table above:

The item sum 2005-2006 is the sum of the value of commission amount for the years 2005 and 2006. I need to move this item after the value 2006, but i have not idea about how can i do this. By default it is dispayed at the end of the values.
Any ideas?

1. Did you created any dummy column for the calculation purpose ?
Method1: Create a dummy column in criteria - in the Edit Forumale (write Sum(commission 2005 + commission 2006) ).
Already you have column's Comissions 2005 , comissions 2006 in criteria.
Now simply, move the Newly Created Dummy column in the criteria after/before as per ur requ. value 2006. ( By Dragging it )
2. If you have created the column sum2005-2006 in the pivot table.
Method2: I think you have value 2005 and value 2006 , sum 2005-2006 columns in pivot table.
In the pivot table, you can view 'measures' area where you will find value 2005, value 2006, sum 2005-2006 columnn's.
Simply, move the sum 2005-2006 columns in b/w value 2005 and value 2006 columns ( by dragging and dropping it )

Hiding columns in pivot table OBIEE 11g

Hi experts,
I am trying to create a pivot table with individual values in columns but I also need to display a grand total as values but also as percentage and as cumulative percentage.
I duplicated the measure once in the measure area, and selected display data as percentage of column, and another time using display cumulative and percentage of column.
The result is fine, but all the elements are displayed as column for the percentage and for the cumulative. Or, I only need the Grand Total Percentage and Cumulative, but I don't need all the columns for Percentage and cumulative.
I have tried to find out a way to customize the XML but nothing good.
Is there a way to display only the grand total for percentage and cumulative without having to display all the individual columns?
Any help highly appreciated.

If I get your question correctly.. You are trying to present the grand total towards the end of the Pivot and OBIEE is displaying the totals of all the sections and then the Grand Total.
Try not to use the grand total of the sections but create a new pivot view and just display the grand total in that view.
So you will have your normal sections and then another pivot view just for the grand total.
As far as I know, there is no option to hide the individual section totals.

Creating Compound lay out with two different pivot tables OBIEE 11g?

Calculated Item in Pivot failed to be entered

Hello There, I'm sorry that I ask again, but I haven't found an answer to the following issue:
Calculated Item in Pivot is not apearing in Chart
While trying to add a calculated item to a Pivot table to display the growth, we receive the error: the semantics of the formula entered are not valid
The formula we've tried to enter was : 100*($1-$2) / $2
entering $1/$2 works fine....
I'm sure it's possible, what am I doing wrong.

Personally, I don't have found the reason so I use the table view.
If you calculate the growth, I assume it's by time.
You can them :
* implement the time series function of OBI :

How to move excluded items into Measures in OBIEE 11g Pivot Table

Hi All,
Need your help. Previously I have about 25 facts in my pivot table as rows. Now I need to add about 10 more. Adding new criteria only put the items into Excluded section. How can I move all these new items at once to the end of the existing facts? What I can do now is moving them one by one, and in the middle of existing facts, then move it again, because I can point my cursor to the end of them directly.

I've tried to drag the fact heading, but I can't point my cursor to the end of existing list of facts (unfortunately they are all in the same fact group name). Do you have any suggestion on how to put the new facts at the end of the list?

Kindly do the below changes in your end..please go to your obiee11g installation folder under
BI11g\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\msgdb\messages\answerstemplates.xml find it the take back up and Edit the copy of the file and
Search with "Sortable" keyword in kuiCriteriaDefaultViewElementsMask element but I'm not sure sortable="False" then restart it
Note: it will afftect entire answres report.

Summarize total for Row items in pivot table

Hi,
I have a certain number of row items and few fact columns. 2 of the row items are level based measures that will summarize on other conditions so I cannot have them in the Fact section. But for these 2 row items (in the Rows section) I want them to summarize the values (a total sum under) as for the Fact columns, but it seems impossible to do this in a pivot table.
I tried everything. This is a very irritating limitation to Pivot tables. Anyone have a good solution to this? (I have to use Pivot table because I have numbers showing for each month, table view will not work for this)

Just for everyone else checking this post out, here is the image you posted.

Now I see what you are talking about. Based on that screen-shot and your post, it looks like three of your measures (Arsbudsjett, Lok. budsjett, Akk.regnskap) are placed in the "Rows" section of the pivot table because you don't want them pivoted on the month. You just want them displayed as a single column and you want to pivot the other measure by month.
However, it appears that OBIEE does not summarize items in the "Rows" section and only provides sub-totals for columns in the "Measures" section.
I have two follow up questions
1) What technique are you using to breakup the column "KOSTRA art"? There seems to be some kind of grouping at the value "Lenn og sosiale utgifter". What is special about that value on how is that grouping or break in the data created?
2) One of those three measures, Akk.regnskap, does have a sub-total but the other two, Arsbudsjett, Lok. budsjett, do not. What is different about Akk.regnskap that causes it to have a sub-totals?

In 10g
1st change the View from Compound Layout to "Tabular View"
2nd.. as you told the A-C total is needed, in the tabular view at Answers......navigate to that field/column & find Sigma (Summation Symbol) ..
3rd, by clicking on it..you will get the Totals in Bold Letters

How do i change cursor when mouse over a Chart,Graph or Pivot table in 11g

hello everyone...!!
I wanted to change the cursor shape from that hand to an arrow .
As we know whenever the mouse cursor rolls over any button or pivot table ,chart or graphs it changes to a Hand shape, i wanted it to remain in the default arrow shape.
This is for obiee 11g.
Please help.

the above sol will only help you to see the cursor on the local machine
to make it visible on every machine
goto column properties >> additional CSS>>in css write cursor:default
then save changes system wide for these data type
Also make the same changes in the other datatypes also.......

Performing a specific calculation in a pivot table with BI Publisher 10g

I am using BI Publisher 10g and new on it and I need to integrate a specific calculation measure in a pivot table
The logic uses two measures that already exist in the report (Demand & PAB) and the required calculation is represented by a new measure/row (Calculated). The pivot time is in weeks
Week w0     w1     w2     w3     w4     w5 .....
Demand     d(w0)     d(w1)     d(w2)     d(w3)     d(w4)     d(w5) .....
PAB     p(w0)     p(w1)     p(w2)     p(w3)     p(w4)     p(w5) .....
Calculated     c(w0)     c(w1)     ....     ....     ....     c(w5) .....
If p(w0) < d(w1) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / d(w1)
If not
If p(w0) < d(w1) + d(w2) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / ( d(w1) + d(w2) ) * 2
If not
If p(w0) < d(w1) + d(w2) + d(w3) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / ( (dw1) + d(w2) + d(w3 ) ) * 3
If not
etc .... Same logics apply for c(w1) and so on
Is such calculation logic achievable in Bi Publisher ? If yes, how would you do it ?

Can you use the logic that you specified in the data model (query) to generate the required data and then use it in the pivot table? That would be the easiest way to do it. Tweaking the code to include the conditional logic/calculated measures is not going to be straightforward..

Bordering options in pivot table Obiee

Hi,
I have a requirement in OBIEE pivot table where I have to put borders across columns for the pivoted data.
For Pivoted data as below I want bold borders for the area a-b,c-d and e so that we can differentiate between them. This doesn't seem to be possible in criteria section as the data is being pivoted from results section and the below structure would appear only there.

Thanks for the reply. but that would apply borders for all the columns..right? I want to group one or more columns with a similar border and it should include both the Measures column and the Measure labels column.
