Bordering options in pivot table Obiee

Hi,
I have a requirement in OBIEE pivot table where I have to put borders across columns for the pivoted data.
For Pivoted data as below I want bold borders for the area a-b,c-d and e so that we can differentiate between them. This doesn't seem to be possible in criteria section as the data is being pivoted from results section and the below structure would appear only there.

Hi Sreeni,
Thanks for the reply. but that would apply borders for all the columns..right? I want to group one or more columns with a similar border and it should include both the Measures column and the Measure labels column.

  • Hiding columns in pivot table OBIEE 11g

    Hi experts,
I am trying to create a pivot table with individual values in columns but I also need to display a grand total as values but also as percentage and as cumulative percentage.
I duplicated the measure once in the measure area, and selected display data as percentage of column, and another time using display cumulative and percentage of column.
The result is fine, but all the elements are displayed as column for the percentage and for the cumulative. Or, I only need the Grand Total Percentage and Cumulative, but I don't need all the columns for Percentage and cumulative.
I have tried to find out a way to customize the XML but nothing good.
Is there a way to display only the grand total for percentage and cumulative without having to display all the individual columns?
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Regards

If I get your question correctly.. You are trying to present the grand total towards the end of the Pivot and OBIEE is displaying the totals of all the sections and then the Grand Total.
Try not to use the grand total of the sections but create a new pivot view and just display the grand total in that view.
So you will have your normal sections and then another pivot view just for the grand total.
As far as I know, there is no option to hide the individual section totals.

    B                     2
    C                     3

How to bold the Total A-C and its value? My version is OBIEE 10g
    Thank you before
    Regards
    JOE

    Hi Joe
    In 10g
1st change the View from Compound Layout to "Tabular View"
2nd.. as you told the A-C total is needed, in the tabular view at Answers......navigate to that field/column  & find Sigma (Summation Symbol) ..
3rd, by clicking on it..you will get the Totals in Bold Letters
Please mark Correct if this helps you

  • Creating Compound lay out with two different pivot tables OBIEE 11g?

    Hello,
I am trying to add two different pivot tables in one compound lay out and add a view selector to it, so that i can choose one at a time. Please advice how can i do this.
    Thanks

First of all, the expression is "please advise" not "please advice." I thought I'd mention it because I see it so much in the forum. :) (Freebie.)
Okay, on the surface, your question seems so basic that it makes me wonder what you mean. If you are absolutely brand-new to OBIEE than consult the manual:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10544/creatingviews.htm#BACCBCBA
If you are stuck on a particular step, then describe the problem in detail.

  • Formatting pivot tables (obiee 11g)

Hi, I'm trying to find good ways to format pivot table results in 11g. Can someone help answer the following questions? Note that I'm putting the "measures" label into the row position, which allows me to format measures differently from each other.
    1. I'd like to put blank rows into the output to space the report. I tried creating a dummy "spacer" measure and then setting display:none in the CSS style. However, this leaves an ugly blank spot that has a gray color in the output. Is there an easier way just to add blank spaces between rows?
    2. The default grid lines on all pivot tables are really dark. If you're a Stephen Few afficianado, they really interfere with reading the numbers. Is there a simple way to default pivots to have less obvious grid lines?
    3. Is there a way to turn off the "word wrap = TRUE" for everything? I've tried setting default number formats for all items to have word wrap turned off...I don't know who would EVER want minus signs wrapping around in numbers...despite this, any new metric I create ALWAYS seems to have stupid word wrapping turned on. If anything, I'd like the default to be off for all items.
    Thank you very much!

  • Showing Zero values in OLAP Pivot Table for Excel 2007

    Hello,
I needed a help to a problem. Is it possible to show the values with No sales in an Olap Pivot Table ??
I have a sales Cube, and brwsing it via excel i wanted to filter on a Product Category and see how many products in this category had made no Sales. By default the Pivot table doesn't shows the empty values, so if i check the Showm empty rows option for
Pivot Tables, i see the whole of the products populated with and without sales, and i can't filter further. Is there a way i can only get those which have no sales.
    Vinish Viswanathan

    Happy Holidays,
I can slice on product categories in Excel 2013 with these settings for the Pivot Table:
Activate "Show items with no data for rows and columns"
Apply a value filter that says that the measure should filter on values = 0
Have the product natural hierarchy on rows with levels product category->subcategory->product.
Expand the levels below product category
Use the product category attribute and not the hierarchy as the filter.
I do not have Excel 2007 installed anymore.

Edited by: user8021111 on Dec 8, 2011 5:05 PMDo this:
Assumption: You have a processing date column, I'lll call "Full Date" that is the date column you will use to track the "counts" of open and closed cases. The assumption is that in your database, this date column contains the "end of month" processing date for each month (e.g., 10/31/2011, 11/30/2011, 12/31/2011, etc.)
    1) In the Rows section of your pivot table, put the Country column.
    2) In Criteria mode, click on the fx button of the "Full Date" column and enter this
    MONTH("Full Date")
This will give you the "month." Put this column in the Columns section of your pivot table.
    3) In Criteria mode, click on the fx button of the Open Date column and enter COUNT(Open_Date_column). Put this column in the Measures section of your pivot table.
    4) Do the same as step 3) for the Closed Date column.
So by putting the MONTH("Full Date") column in your Columns section of the pivot table, OBIEE will break out the Open Date and Closed Date counts by each month. That's how you do it.

  • Calculated Percentage Columns in Pivot Table loose formating in Excel

I have a simple report built using pivot table ( OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0)
1 Metric and 1 dimension using pivot table. and I duplicated the metric column and change it to % column.(Show data as % of column). SO far so good. Below is the snapshot
    http://tinypic.com/r/2s14xa9/7
Now i download the report in excel and all the % values are messed up . Below is how it looks
    http://tinypic.com/r/bede90/7
I tried messing with data formats etc..nothing works.. I cannot add a custom column format to the metric column since it will impact the derived % column.
Is this a bug ?Any pointers ..
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Follow up this SR:
SR 3-5060435331: Calculated Percentage Columns in Pivot Table loose formating in Excel
Workaround: (not sure may be give a try)
also give a try like below one then try to download it may work.
In that % column -->add the below statement in the Custom CSS section of the column properties:
    mso-number-format:"\@"
    Refer snapshot here:
    http://i53.tinypic.com/a09kqv.jpg
This will treat the data in the column as text while downloading to excel, hence retaining any leading or trailing spaces.

  • OBIEE 11g - How to create clean looking pivot tables

Hi, does anyone have a good way to clean up the appearance of pivot tables in OBIEE 11g? I'm a big fan of Stephen Few and firmly believe in the "minimize non-data ink" theory. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of stuff on OBIEE pivots that I can't easily clean up. Does anyone have ideas for:
    1. How to remove the "gray" / "beige" coloring from column and row dimension? I opened a ticket with Oracle 6 months ago, and basically they've just responded that it is a "enhancement request" for a future version (aka not going to see it for a LONG time)
    2. For my "across" dimension, I don't seem to have a good way to show the dimension name. There is an option under "column properties" to "display heading" - but when this is turned on it scrunches the heading up directly over the column that has the down dimension members. I really want this to go across the pivot.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Steps,
Just create DSN (odbc connection for the excel data source) then try to import via rpd that time u must need to select "System Tables"

  • Export OBIEE 11.1.1.5 Analysis to Excel as a Pivot Table

    Hello,
I am exploring the Sample App for OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and one thing that struck me was that I didn't see an export option from an Analysis where you can Export data to Excel as an "Excel Pivot Table".
In Oracle Discoverer, for a Cross-tab report (which is equivalent to OBIEE Analysis Pivot Table), when you export to Excel, it shows up in Excel like a real Pivot Table that the user can manipulate to their hearts content.
Is there an equivalent feature in OBIEE?
    thanks,
    Manish

I did see the export to excel links, but when the Analysis Pivot Table is exported to Excel, it's not an "Excel Pivot Table". It's a simple static excel spreadsheet.
If you export a Cross-tab worksheet in Discoverer, you will get:
    – a base sheet which contains all the data in table format
    – a sheet containing the pivot table
    – a static sheet
It's the Pivot Table generated automatically by Discoverer that I am looking for in the Export from OBIEE Analysis.

    Rows Dimension - Fiscal year
Column measure - Sale Amount and Target Amount

I need to stack the same bars(sale amount bars) with Priority(which has values as critical, non-critical). How can I do this? Please help.

  • Unable to execute pivot table option

    Hi group,
We are running OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.1. We use OBIEE with APCC (Advance Planning Command Center).
When some clients (PC's) try to run Pivot Table using next option (Answers--> Shared Folders -->Other --> Resource Utilization --> Modify --> and then push the Show results in a pivot table) they get next message "Currently you have not a initiated session in the Oracle BI Server".
When I try the same option from my PC and directly in the server there is no problem, so I think it could be a client issue.
If somebody has gotten this same problem, any advice will be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Replace Null With 0 in Pivot Table in a BI Publisher Report (Not OBIEE Answ

I have a problem with nulls in a pivot table. I got a measure column in my BI Answers analysis and I made a report with a model based in this analysis. When I add a pivot table to my report the 0 measures don't display.
In first place I found that there's a bug (13054445). I download and ran the patch, then I tried editing data format in my analysis column and in BI Answers and this worked. The 0 displays correctly, but in the report it's still not displaying.
I tried editing the formula in the analysis with:
    IFNULL(column,0)
CASE WHEN column IS NULL THEN 0 ELSE column END
CASE WHEN column IS NOT NULL THEN column ELSE 0 END
    IFNULL(cast("column"as varchar (10)), '0')
    And nothing works
When I tried this: CASE WHEN column IS NULL THEN 0 ELSE 656565656 END
in the report the 6565656565 display correctly but the 0 still doesn't display.
Does anybody know if that is a bug? Or does another option exist that can I try?

    Hi,
Following on with this post, I followed the document posted and the formula worked fine. I was able to replace nulls with strikethrough in a pivot table. Since combining the report into a compound layout, the strikethrough has reverted back to nulls. Even when just viewing the pivot table, the same applies.
I have double checked the column properties and the condition(is null) and formatting(strikethrough) still exists but does not take effect in the pivot table.
I hav also checked that no data exists in the fact table under the null categories and they are true.
Can anyone help with this problem, I have also removed the condition and re-applied but still face the same problem.
    Thanks

    a9, 200,243,813.40
For year 2003 in place of 'x' value a9 value has to be shown........

Your post doesn't help a lot. Why it's still not solved ?
If it's caused by the ascendant order, the only way that you have is to pivot your table :
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/presentation_service/obiee_transformation_table_to_pivot
And then you can set all sort that you want.
