Calculating duration between cue point?

I'm using Flash Pro CS3. My project is AS2 targeting FP8.
I have an flv component on stage. My .flv has cue points and
I have buttons underneath the component that show the title of each
navigation cuepoint in a dynamic text field. I have another dynamic
text field that shows the cuepoint time for each cuepoint,
positioned next the the title of the cuepoint. That all works well
but hoping to accomplish a bit more and can't find any code help.
The three things I'm trying to do are:
1. Instead of showing current time at a particular cuepoint,
show the duration of the section/chapter, if you will. How can I
calculate duration between two cuepoints and display it in my
dynamic text field? Is there something I should do when
encoding/adding the cuepoints or can I use AS with the cuepoints I
have?
2. Once I get that duration and have it display instead of
the actual cuepoint time, have it countdown backwards when the
playhead is in that "chapter"?
3. Show these times in the mm:ss format?
Thanks for any help or links you think might be helpful...

    var myComp = app.project.activeItem;

       var selLayers = myComp.selectedLayers;
       var myMarker = selLayers[0].property("Marker");

       var curTime = myMarker.keyTime(1);
    curMarker.time = "00:00:00:01";
    myMarker.setValueAtKey(1,curMarker);
    Hello, as I want to extract the hh:mm:ss:ff time data from a video embedded with XMP metadata in After Effects in batch.
    I wonder how I can get access to a cue point time and duration?
    I know properties like
    curMarker.comment
    curMarker.cuePointName
    curMarker.chapter
    Yet, I failed in getting access to time, duration...
    Could someone who knows it point me to a Adobe Javascript reference?
    I couldn't find one online.
    Many thanks!

    Yes, I want to read the timecodes and make use of them in the following tasks:
    My actual job is to batch extract the timecode (hh:mm:ss:ff) and copy them and paste on a text file.
    My intention is to:
    1. batch copy the timecodes
    2. batch paste on a text file
    3. Compare the timecodes with cuepoint time value
    Because as you may know from my last question here, I want to figure out
    how to convert Cue Point XML time (in milliseconds) to hh:mm:ss:ff so that
    I can generate an Encore Subtitle Text.
    The workflow is like:
    From a Cue Point XML (exported from Flash / Soundbooth):
    <CuePoint>
    <Time>1002</Time>
    <Type>navigation</Type>
    <Value>First</Value>
    </CuePoint>
    <CuePoint>
    <Time>1002</Time>
    <Type>navigation</Type>
    <Value>Second</Value>
    </CuePoint>
    To an Encore Text:
    1 hh:mm:ss:ff hh:mm:ss:ff First
    2 hh:mm:ss:ff hh:mm:ss:ff Second
    The problem I have got hung up is that I do not know the exact relationship between Cue Point XML Time and hh:mm:ss:ff in Encore Subtitle
    Now I reach the stage that I know how to convert
    From CuePoint Time to hh:mm:ss:sss (Milliseconds)
    But not hh:mm:ss:ff (Frames)
    Originally I wished Adobe auto does the Cuepoints to Encore subtitles job for me. Yet it seems not possible without scripting.
    I hope I've been explaining it in a clear manner.
    Thanks for your reply.

                End
        End
        If @Reverse=1 Set @WorkMin=-@WorkMin
        Return @WorkMin
    End

    The problem is you cannot specify partial hours.
    I think your best bet would be to alter the function sufficiently so it will accept times instead of hours, and where you're making comparisons to the hour, use dates/date functions instead.
    Then, just set the variable as a full time (or datetime, if you need).

  • Command for calculating the difference between channel points

    Hello guys,
    Please tell me if there is a command (or a way) to calculate the diference between channel points, and when there is a diference between points greater then a certain value, to give you where are those points.
    I record some CSV data, a force during time and travel, and I want to put on a graph the exact value when I have a decrease of force greater then 0,1N.
    Thank you again for your time.

  • Premiere CS3: How can you encode xml cue point data in the chapter section of a marker for FlashVid?

    Hi there,
    I'm a total newb to this forum, so hello adobe premiere community! I'm perplexed by Adobes documentation on Premiere (and I'm sure I'm not the first ) anyway on the live documents page below:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS9390BED7-9466-46ea-A0E A-3240F1AFC36C.html
    it states that:
    “The cue point data in the Chapter field of a sequence marker in Adobe Premiere Pro will be encoded as Flash XML. For the XML protocol required, see Flash Help.”
    Which is great…except this information doesn’t exist seemingly in either the Premiere documentation or Flash either for that matter, but as I’m interested in working with the chapter/marker area in Premiere – should I really be told to go off and search the documentation for another application, probably not!  What would have been useful would have been a code snippet saying you do it like this, but of course, that would make things too easy!
    Basically, I understand that in After FX you can add Flash marker information specifically for interpretation when exporting to Flash Video (i.e. name, type and parameters etc) and it suggests that you can do the same above in Premiere CS3 using some kind of concatenated string in the chapter area…it just doesn’t tell you how anywhere seemingly – WHY ADOBE!
    Currently when I export markers as cue points based on the advice in the page above, anything I put in the chapter section to force Premiere to create a cue point is converted to a string, which becomes the cue point ‘name’.
    This cue point name is then automatically appended to the ‘time’ the marker was inserted at and is always encoded as type ‘navigation’, with no obvious means of adding ‘parameters’ into the equation.
    So (finally) does anyone know if you can insert this information into the chapter area for correct interpretation by flash (i.e. thus allowing you to choose between either 'navigation' or 'event' types, and pass as many 'parameters' as you wish etc) or are you just limited to supplying a name, and it being automatically set to the navigation type with no parameters?
    I’m sorry for this long essay but at least the issue is well defined for you to answer, honestly any help you can provide what so ever would really be most appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Kat
    PS – I have utterly no knowledge of XML either just in case you were wondering – and my only interest in XML is getting this basic information encoded into the FLV file from Premiere Pro CS3! Please help, pretty please with daisy’s!!!

    Hi dradeke,
    Thanks for your reply, which is indeed useful as clearly Adobe have made this task easier and less obscure in CS4 by adding simple interface functionality, however I'm stuck with using CS3 for the moment.  Its not majorly a problem as the video material in question can be exported uncompressed then setup with cue points using the Flash encoder as an alternative (i.e. or even After FX CS3 also) which both provide the same features as Premiere CS4 seemingly. It is just that it would be much easier to be able to drop in simple markers whilst working with Premiere CS3, as this is what we are going to be using primarily, I just wondered if anyone knew how to invoke this in CS3 - its possible you can't, the documentation is vague at best!
    However I really appreciate your response and help, thanks

  • Final Cut Pro to Flash  -- Inserting and Using Cue Points

    I want to export a flash video using File - Export - Using Quick Time Conversion and selecting Flash. Under options for Flash, I see something about "Cue Points".
    My assumption is that these would be points that you can insert that are similar to chapter markers and that you could have the Flash player on a web page jump back and forth between them.
    Does anyone know of any documentation on inserting these points in Final Cut export? I couldn't figure it out. It looks like you give them a name and a timecode. I could not enter the timecode.
    How about over on the player side? I assume some sort ActionScript in Flash is required. Has anyone seen a simple example/tutorial of these capabilities?

    Apart from disabling time machine, iCal and any other programs or applications from taking focus. Time machine and software updates can certainly be told not to try as far as I recall.

  • Display clip duration between markers in canvas window?

    I can do this in Avid- but can not seem to figure it out in FCP.
    There are two TC windows in each canvas window. Is there any way to set them to display the clip duration between markers?
    In other words- I would like to see the duration between and IN point and the OUT point.

    There's a command that will set the in and outs to markers; it's called "mark to markers" found in the Mark Menu. Set the playhead between any two markers and type control+a. Then the in to out duration will show up in the canvas.

  • Using cue points to trigger events on the main timeline...

    Hi--
    I have successfully placed an flv (video) file (progressive
    download) on the main timeline of my movie with controls to play
    and pause (Flash 8 Professional). So far, so good!
    NOW TWO PROBLEMS: Does anyone know how to set it up so that
    when a specific cue point is reached in the video, it triggers an
    action on the main timeline? In this case, once the video is over,
    I want the main timeline to gotoAndPlay frame 3. Specific script to
    do this would be great!
    The other action I'd like to happen is that when the video
    begins, it targets a scrolling text mc ("text") in the main
    timeline and tells it to gotoAndPlay frame 2.
    Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Many
    thanks!!!

    I usually start off solving problems with the livedocs, as I
    recommend for anyone. The following link will take you to the
    NetStream.onCuePoint handler. This is what you need.
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flash/8/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context= LiveDocs_Parts&file=00002561.html
    You can have this code on the main timeline. When the
    cuepoint is hit, it will invoke this event handler and inside is
    where your gotoAndPlay( ) should go.
    Your other question about the text will get activated by the
    same handler. Just have a conditional statement (if, switch, etc.)
    to differentiate between the two events. The text itself can be
    mask inside a movieclip.
    Does this help?

  • Cue point event to display text link in movie

    HI -- This may be a fairly mundane question but I am having a
    hard time figuring it out. I have a movie with several cue point
    events. I would like a text link to be added to the right of the
    movie when a certain cue point is hit. I would like the link to
    stay in place and each time a new cue point is hit, a new link is
    added below the last link.
    I am stuck and can't seem to get this to work. Having a hard
    time figuring out the action script. Any suggestions? I have
    already followed the macromedia tutorials on this subject and am
    just floundering.
    thanks!

    Since you are storing the number as an 'int' and then converting that int to a String for display, then you shouldn't expect 0's to be added on if the number is currently 0:
    1) curnum = 0
    2) 0 key is pressed
    3) curnum = curnum * 10 + 0 = 0 * 10 + 0 = 0
    A real calculator wouldn't keep appending 0's... at least, not a simple calculator comparable to the one you are writing. If you want to append 0's, try this:
    - Keep a count of the number of 0's pressed.
    - If curnum is changed to 0 (by pressing clear, for example, or turning on the calculator), reset the zero count to 1.
    - Each time the '0' key is pressed, if curnum is 0, then increment the '0' count.
    - When you update your display, use the following logic: if curnum is 0, then display the number of 0's specified in the zero count, otherwise just display the value of curnum.

  • Director buttons to FLV cue points?

    Is it possible to use a button to jump the playback head to a flv cue point?
    Director V11.5 Mac

    If you know where the cuepoint is (in milliseconds), you can use the seek() command to jump there.  You might have to do some experimentation to get it to work the way you expect it to.
    Seek() is an asynchronous command.  It can only be used if the sprite currently has a mediaStatus of #playing.  It is ignored if the mediaStatus is #paused, #stopped or #error.
    Immediately after the command is issued, the sprite's mediaStatus switches to #stopped (not #seeking or #buffering) and the currentTime of the sprite is set to the target value.
    If the seek target is negative or greater than the duration of the media, nothing happens.

  • Embedded FLV Cue Points not working

    I am updating a project which uses an FLVPlayback component to play and navigate FLV videos using embedded Navigation cue points. The FLVs were originally encoded using an older version of AME, CS4 possibly. When trying to replace an FLV with a new one encoded using AME CS6, the embedded cue points do not work. Testing in Flash I get "VideoError: 1003: Invalid seek" when attempting to use "seekToNavCuePoint".
    Comparing the two FLVs using Premiere shows no recognizable differences between them. They are the same format, their cue points are named identically, all are designated as Flash Cue Points, and all set to type "Navigation".
    Digging into the FLV data, I've found that the cue point descriptions are formatted quite differently and I'm wondering if this is the source of the problem:
    Excerpt from the original FLV (AME CS4?):
         <rdf:li>
          <rdf:Description
           xmpDM:trackName="AME Markers"
           xmpDM:frameRate="f254016000000">
          <xmpDM:markers>
           <rdf:Seq>
            <rdf:li
             xmpDM:startTime="9323149248000"
             xmpDM:name="q1in"
             xmpDM:type="FLVCuePoint"
             xmpDM:cuePointType="Navigation"/>
    Excerpt from the new FLV (AME CS6):
         <rdf:li>
          <rdf:Description
           xmpDM:trackName="FLVCuePoint"
           xmpDM:trackType="FLVCuePoint"
           xmpDM:frameRate="f15">
          <xmpDM:markers>
           <rdf:Seq>
            <rdf:li>
             <rdf:Description
              xmpDM:startTime="550"
              xmpDM:name="q1in"
              xmpDM:cuePointType="Navigation">
             <xmpDM:cuePointParams>
              <rdf:Seq>
               <rdf:li
                xmpDM:key="marker_guid"
                xmpDM:value="2c2c8be0-75af-47d6-8938-4a365e33a550"/>
              </rdf:Seq>
             </xmpDM:cuePointParams>
             </rdf:Description>
            </rdf:li>
    Completely stumped here, any ideas appreciated!

    More digging into the new FLV shows that while XMP defines the cue points as type "navigation", there is prior data in the file that defines all the cue points as "event". This makes sense, because my SWF is correctly listening for and reacting to an "end" cue point in the FLV, but will not seek to any cue point since they are all set as "event".
    Copying and pasting from Notepad++:
    cuePoints       0       name   q1in  time @BYûçl‹D  type   event
      1       name   q1out  time @JÜ(õ\  type   event
      2       name   q2in  time @V£¥ãS÷Ï  type   event
      3       name   q2out  time @^/ Ÿ¾w  type   event
      4       name   q3in  time @_Oß;d  type   event
      5       name   q3out  time @nE™™™™š  type   event
      6       name   q4in  time @s G® zá  type   event
      7       name   q4out  time @vNÄ›¥ãT  type   event
      8       name   q5in  time @w¢Ù ‡+   type   event
      9       name   q5out  time @zw×
    =p¤  type   event
      10       name   end  time @€ð bMÒò  type   event
    Any idea why AME is doing this?

  • Worked out cue points now flV won't reset

    Hi all,
    I worked out how to put in and use cuepoints in my FLV video- I am baking them in with premiere.  I am using them to trigger events, but now I have wierd behaviour that when I stop and play the video it does not restart from the beginning..
    So I even went back in and put a nav cue point right at the start and put in a skip to cue command but now there is a second or so where it starts playing from where it left off and then goes back to the beginning..
    How can I get it to start from the beginning every time it plays?
    I really appreciate any help here, I have spent a day trying everything I can think of... looks like it is going to be a long night..
    I have tried using the .source command and haveing the film picked from the prefs.. no difference..
    I guess my next attempt will be to have a little balnd film and try to load that up in between..
    but there has got to be an easier way..
    when there were no cuepoints the .stop and .play commands would automatically make it start from the beginning.. I am hoping that this is something simple I am missing
    Cheers

    Ok so my workaround of having a blank film and using .source to load it up between playing the real film is working, but it seems a pretty silly solution.
    If anyone know how to do it properly I would like to know.
    cheers

  • Need help with embedded cue points in FLV please (quickly/ :-))

    Here is my scenario - I have a flv streaming in a swf. All I
    want to do is to is call the cuepoint (event) in the flv, so that
    it will go to and play somewhere else further down the timeline of
    the swf - I don't think it should require much AS, but I haven't
    done much communication of this sort between an flv and it's parent
    swf. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    I figured it out. If anyone is interested, this the code snippet I found in Adobes help that allows you to access cue points and trigger events on flv's brought in with netstream:
    function onCuePoint(infoObject:Object):void
    trace("onCuePoint:");
    for (var propName:String in infoObject) {
    if (propName != "Run")
    RunCuePoint.visible=true
    else
    trace("parameters =");
    if (infoObject.parameters != undefined) {
    for (var paramName:String in infoObject.parameters)
    trace(" " + paramName + ": " + infoObject.parameters[paramName]);
