Calendar locations?

Can you get iPod to display the locations of where events are in the calendar (synched from iCal)? It'd be kinda useful to know where my daily events are, as well as what and when they are!

LOL, Thats great for instance where I live has no road name, and when I use my address via contacts doesnt want to know, instead goes to a wrong address, if I put full address in maps it goes to wrong address, if just put postcode it goes to correct address.
Hopefully and I am sure they will iron out the glitches as this will be extremly important and useful for me, they need to priortise to postcode if not found, type routine.

  • Where are the swipe preferences for calendar located

    Hi
Where are the swipe preferences for calendar located?  Is it two fingers swipe down to goto the next month?
    Thank you in advance.

I don't know that there are any preferences for setting what swiping does in the Calendar.
Two finger swipes left and right skip months in month view. They skip weeks in week view. Two fingers up and down scroll up and down (which does nothing in month view).

  • Maverick Calendar Location Names rather than Street Addressses

Perhaps I've been using Calendar Locations "wrong" all this time. I've always entered the location name and full address there. I also have a separate calendar that I call "travel time" where I block out time in the car or on the bus, so I was THRILLED to see that the new and improved Calendar would actually do that for me.
Except that it only works if I enter only the address and the not the location name in the location field. Is there any way to override this?
Now, instead of my calendar saying
    Snorkel with the Fish
    Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium
    Mall of America
    120 East Broadway
    Bloomington, MN 55425
    it says ...
    Snorkel with the Fish
    120 East Broadway
    Bloomington, MN 55425
I guess that I know what's at "120 East Broadway", but "Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium" is much more informative to me that "120 East Broadway" — especially when I'm not familiar with an address.
I know that I can just change the event title to "Snorkel with the Fish — Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium", but I'd rather not have to do that.
Is there any way to keep the location name in the location field and still make use of the travel time feature?
I do have Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium in my Contacts.
    Thanks for your help.

Funny - after my testing out of Nokia Drive+ and realizing all the limitations listed compared to an OLD Garmin Nuvi AND no glimmer of hope or response for a month, I actually went out and bought a Nuvi 3490 instead. I'm currently not using my Nokia Drive for any navigation...
I could see myself start using it again if some of the features, incl. traffic information being part of routing decisions making it's way back. But for long haul navigation, everything needs to be there, and still the Nuvi 3490 wins hands down. And since that is now already paid for also with life time updates to maps and traffic info, it now requires a signficantly BETTER navigation app to bring me back.
One thing I would like to see though that will make Nokia my most used daily navigation tool is the Nokia Commute app for Copenhagen area. That apps approach for short haul routine routing is really attractive.
I originally went for the Nokia Lumia series over competing WP8 vendors due to the strong software add-ons with the mapping functionality being a key factor. There's still many other elemeents that just make Nokia a bit better, but the one I thought was the biggest turned out to not be enough, and that has now put aside as I got a better navigation system than any phone can currently offer - thus making the playing field a little bit more level across WP vendors. Nokia needs to work MUCH harder and faster, if they want to differentiate themselves on mapping / navigaiton. Granted there's other areas like photo quality, social apps, build quality, accessories, etc. I would like to put Nokia Music in there as well, but that has never launched in Denmark after 3 years...
    Sincerely
    Allan Hvass

  • Why is Calendar Location not a Link?!

Love the iPhone! However... I can't help but be incredibly annoyed by the following. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... but why in the world is the following feature not available?
When I plug something in as a calendar appointment, I make sure to plug in the address (with state and zip). Now, when I open the appointment on my iPhone calendar, why in the world is the address not a link to the map? Such that if I need to see where the location is of my meeting, I can't just click the "location" in the appointment and have a Google map open with the location.
Is there a way to make this happen? Or is this in the line up for software updates?
    Thanks!
    mike

I don't know of a way to make this happen.
As this a a user to user forum, made up of iphone users, there is no way to know what Apple may or may not introduce in the future - unless they announce (which they rarely do).
I have not seen an announcement.
You could try looking through the manual, in case it is there and I missed it.

  • Calendar Location Exchange 2007

The calendar application allows you to enter a location and send an update. The meeting room then responds if it's available or not. In entourage you could view the status of the room and invitees by clicking on scheduling. How does this work in snow leopard?
My location displays a busy sign when i've completed typing it was it meant to show available if so
is it working correctly in my environment how would I check? Is something not configured on the exchange server?
The problem is the location feature is useless if it doesn't show availability when booking the room.

Once you've entered the resource name in the location field, you can open Window>Availability Panel from the application menus. (shortcut Shift-command-A). It should show your location resource availability.

  • Calendar locations to Google Maps

Is there any way to add the feature to be able to map out the location that you save in your calendar by pressing on it. Seems like it should be a simple update.

The iphone does not have this functionality.
But you can use this site to make a suggestion on any apple product.

  • ICal bug: cannot copy/paste into location field of exchange 2007 calendar

when you copy text from any application (cmd C) and then try to paste it into de location field of a new or existing appointment of a calendar synchronizing with an exchange 2007 account in iCal 4.0, then .... well nothing happens. You can paste it in a subject or a notes field but not in de location field.

My experience as well (hooked into google calendar), and a frustrating one. I assume this is related in some way to the "yellow exclamation point in edit mode - can only select entire block"? I see that normal "on my mac" calendar locations don't have the yellow exclamation point, and I can select any portion of the text. What's up with this? Is iCal suggesting that google's "Where" field is incompatible somehow? Yet there seems to be no trouble exchanging data between the two...

  • Locations in calendar events

Why is it when I enter a calendar event in my exchange calendar locations aren't recognized but when I use any other non-exchange calendar when I enter an event and enter an address under location it shows the locations on a map?

Tapping and holding the fingertip on the address will still give you an option to open the location in a map

  • I have updated my mac software and have all my icloud apps turned on but changes I make to my calendar on my phone do not show up on my mac, nor do any pictures I take. How do I fix this?

    ..

Hmm on the Mac, go to the apple >> system preferences >> iCloud.  Verify you are signed in.  Make sure calendars are checked off.  Click on account details and verify you are signed in with the right apple id.
Open calendars and verify you have an iCloud entry in the sidebar (click calendars in the upper left to open the sidebar if you're on mt lion).
Create a test entry in a calendar located under under iCloud.
Log into iCloud.com.  You see the test?

  • How to sync 'On My Mac' calendar with multiple devices

    Hi
This is an ongoing problem for me and I have decided to become more pro-active in seeking a solution. I would be grateful for any help whatsoever.
In summary, I need to understand how I can sync calendars that are 'On My Mac' with iCloud, so that then I can see them on any of my devices. I don't mean export - I am looking for a solution that creates a constant, updating feed.
I cannot use iCal as my primary calendar location. I need to send a lot of calendar invitations to people who use MS Outlook for their calendars and MS Outlook does not accept invitations from iCal. Therefore I have migrated to Outlook for Mac 2011 as my principle calendar client. (A temporary work around was that I continued using iCal for a short while but send invitations using Gmail. This works, except that for my clients it became confusing and they started thinking that my main email address was a Gmail address and that is a problem for me.) So I am using Outlook for Mac 2011 which enables me to exchange calendar appointments with other MS Outlook users with no problem. At this stage these appointments don't show up anywhere except in Outlook for Mac 2011 on my iMac at home and I am hardly ever there. So I need them to reveal themselves on my Macbook Air, iPhone 4S and iPad as I drive around meeting everyone. The problem is made worse by the fact that I work for several companies, all of which expect me to use their own email accounts to set up these meetings. Outlook for Mac 2011 is good for that. So the next step for me is to go to Preferences in Outlook for Mac 2011 and select Sync Services. This helps because it sets up an instantaneous feed from Outlook for Mac 2011 to iCal on the same machine. Great, but not perfect as they are all stuck in the 'On My Mac' section of iCal - which does not sync with iCloud.
That is where I get stuck.
    Can anyone help?
    With best wishes,
    Tom

    Hi Snozdop,
Thank you for your quick and helpful reply. Yes it does seem astonishing that Microsoft is not helping with a problem that must be affecting many of their customers.
Actually pretty much all the appointments are already in iCloud as I exported them to Outlook for Mac as part of this recent burst of activity. So populating iCloud again will not be a problem, if I need to.
It is helpful that you have referred to Exchange. If I am hearing you correctly then you are saying that any appointments that I set up using email accounts that use Exchange can easily be set up to show on all of my devices. This means that if I set them up using Outlook for Mac, then I will not need to use Sync Services in Outlook for Mac to inform iCloud of my schedule.
But if I am also hearing you correctly, I will still need to use Outlook for Mac to set up the appointments because other people's Outlook systems will still not recognise calendar invitations sent from iCal, even if the email address used to set them up uses Exchange. Is that correct?
If so, then I suppose I can work with it - although it still seems somewhat elaborate. I would be using Outlook on my iMac and Macbook Air and iCal/iCloud on my iPhone and iPad - all connected via separate accounts using Exchange.

  • Problems viewing calendars in iCal after OS upgrade

I just upgraded my OS from 10.4 to 10.6, and now several of my calendars within iCal don't show up (2 show up, but 4 are "missing"). I've synced with my iPhone, and all the events are still listed on my phone, but I can't see them on my computer.
Any suggestions on how to make it so that I can see these calendars again?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
It sounds like something went wrong in the upgrade process of iCal under 10.4 to 10.6.
    Try the following in order:
    1. First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
    2. Go to Your User > Library > Application Support > iCal
__Move this folder to your desktop (this is the old 10.4 calendar location. don't misplace it)
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Check iCal at this point. Did the calendars come back?
    3. If not then quit iCal and follow this help article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iSync/3.1/en/9247.html
Check iCal at this point. Did they come back?
    4. If not then go into the iCal folder you put on your desktop and look for several folders with extremely long names. Inside each one is a calendar called "corestorage.ics". Each one of these is one of your calendars.
Open each one, one at a time by double-clicking. When prompted, add each one to a uniquely named new calendar in iCal until you have restored the missing calendars. You can then delete any duplicate calendars that might have been imported.
    Hope that helps.

  • Creating an appointment in an exchange calendar using webdav (slide)

    Hello!
I am new in webdav. I am trying for a long time to create an appointment in

  • Google Calendar doesn't show

Please Help! I have inserted a Google Calendar(iframe html code) into one of my iweb pages but it doesn't show in Safari. I get an error in the Activity window that says "too many http redirects" if I refresh Safari a few times it works although it works fine in Firefox. Is there something wrong with the Calendar html code? Is it my webhost? or possibly Safari?
    Thanks,
    Flippy
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Ah-ha! I figured it out. When you are generating the Html code for your Google Calendar (located under Calendar Settings/Calendar Address/Configuration Tool) do not put too many spaces between the letters and words in the "Calendar Title" as I did C A L E N D A R - O F - E V E N T S.
It made the url to my Calendar look like this:
    http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=mygooleid%60gmail.com&title=C%20A%20L%2 0E%20N%20D%20A%20R%20%20%20-O%20F-%20%20%20E%20V%20E%20N%20T%20S
Notice the %20 before each letter in my url causing to many http redirects.
So I just changed the Title to something like EVENT.
The url looks like this now: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=mygoogleid%60gmail.com&title=EVENT
I added the newly generated html code and it works like a gem.
I hope this is helpful to anyone else who might be having the same problem.
